Ch15. As Cold As Ice
"...Violet?!"
The blonde haired woman laughed as she stepped forward. "Thank you, thank you Prince Alexander," she laughed dementedly. "For giving my sister a more painful death."
The boys then stared at the rotting body of Scarlet in disgust and horror.
"D-Do you even have a goddamn heart?!" Xhaka exclaimed. "No matter how much I hate her, she's still your sister! I have never seen anyone as heartless as you!"
Violet smiled. "I am the Goddess of Treachery. I don't stay loyal, it's my job to betray."
"Still, you don't have to kill!!" Retorted Xhaka.
"Well, I do," she giggled. "Granting death is another way of treachery. What, are you starting to feel sorry for my sister, my dead sister, now?"
"Like hell we are."
Everyone's, including Violet's, eyes turned to the person who had spoken.
Lui glared hard at the smiling demon and gritted his teeth. His fists were clenched and his eyes were dark with the mixture of anger and disgust.
"Oh my, I like you," Violet said. "So passionate, so angry. I can feel your and your spirit's power radiating off you, Prince Luk... We can be soooo strong together-"
"Want to know a secret?"
Violet raised an eyebrow but smiled. "Very well."
"I don't care."
For a few seconds, Violet stood there, looking at Lui with wide eyes. No one, just no one, had ever tried to sass her like that. She almost looked impressed.
"Ah, what youth. What potential. You could be a god, a god of pride!" She said, half mocking, half praising.
Lui threw Violet a dirty look. "Want to know another secret?"
Violet frowned. She knew he was testing her patience, but she decided to play along. "If it matters to me."
"You know what?" Lui said. "You make me sick. In my whole life, I mever met anyone as demented as you. Weak bladers? Yes. A lot of them. Naive little boys? I met some. But something like you? No. You killed your sister. I hate her too, but is THIS necessary? Huh?!"
His voice got louder and louder. Lui never felt so angry, so sickened before. He was always pissed off, but never like this. He felt like he wanted to puke.
The woman in front of him looked amused and interested. She ignored his question, and said, "Prince Luk, you don't have to worry about these~ You desired to be the strongest, and if you give your powers to me, you can achieve the tital as the number one in the world! Give me your powers, then you will have anything you want. Strength, honour, riches... Now, if you just give me the spirit of Longinus..."
Lui cut her off with a growl. "If you plan getting me to give in, you're doing to wrong. Your technique is bullshit. No matter how you blabber, you will never have Longinus! He is my-" he took a deep breath and remembered what Valt said about Valkyrie. No matter how Lui hated to admit it, he admired Valt's bond with his Bey. So why couldn't he form a bond with Longinus?
"Longinus is my partner, and you're not taking him!" He snarled.
By that, Lost Longinus in his pocket began to glow. It had a icy blue and white light. Lui nearly jumped as his Bey flashed and twickled at him. He looked even more freaked out as a voice echoed beside his ear.
As if to tease him, the voice chuckled, "Finally admitting that I'm your partner, huh?"
"L-Longinus?" Lui managed to bite out.
With that, the air around Lui exploded.
The explosion was not... normal. There were no flames, smoke nor heat. The explosion was white with tints of blue on the mist it gave out, and it was cold. Freezing. Violet stepped back slowly, not aware that she was shivering from the bitter frost. Her knuckles were starting to turn white from the cold. The temperature in the room had dropped by at least 10 degree celsius.
The other bladers were also shivering. Xhaka looked the best out of all of them, but by the look on his face, he was also cold to the bone.
"L-Lui! Oi, stop this already!" Zac shouted. "It's cold!"
By that, the mist started to fade slowly, though it was still as cold. "What?! You're cold?! I don't feel anything at all!" Lui shouted in response.
He stepped out of the fading mist, as well as a spirit- Longinus, behind him. A white and blue aura surrounded him, and his eyes flashed a dangerous blue and purple as he narrowed them at Violet. The feathery white boa he was wearing fluttered wildly in the chilling wind. Something white surrounded him. It was not mere snow; it was a blizzard.
Lui took out his fighting knife from his pocket. He grasped the handle of the knife tightly as he glared at Violet. Lui walked a step towards her. Violet just looked at him confidently, but Lui sensed the tiny spark of fear that she hid behind her mask of smirks and smiles.
"Well, try! Kill me! With that battle knife of yours!" Violet mocked and laughed. A small, purple orb of light floated above her palm. She licked her lips as Lui didn't ran towards her and fight. "What? Aren't you going to do anything?" She said again. Lui almost snorted and did the unthinkable.
He threw his knife away.
"Bitch, please," he sneered as his aura glowed brighter. "I don't fight with unworthy metal weapons. I fight with ice."
In a split second, blasts of white and blue shot out of Lui's fingertips. The shots hit Violet square on the back as she tried to turn and run away. She screamed, not from pain, but from cold. Patterns of frost froze her back and shoulder blades. Violet's skin turned a sickly pale green as the coldness spread through her body. Stiffly, she turned towards Lui in anger.
"Arghhhh!" She yelled as she threw a ball of glowing purple at him. Lui growled and raised his hands, firing a storm of sharp icicles at Violet at high speed and blocked the purple attacks. His attacks were fast, cold and sharp. Violet was barely dodging them, and her body started to tire. Soon, Lui was gaining absolute control over the battle, and Violet knew she was loosing.
A shadow passed Violet's eyes as she smirked. How could she forgotten that she still had a way out? Lui stopped for a moment and observed the sly expression on the demon's face. He was starting to feal uncomfortable. Lui's hand unconsciously wrapped tightly around Lost Longinus.
"What are you planning?" Lui snarled.
"Oh, you'll see." Violet licked her lips once more. She then clasped her hands together. "Separate."
Lui was too busy focusing on the glow emerging from Violet's hands to see more and more Violets appearing. They looked the same as the real Violet, their actions were all the same, and no one could recognise which one was real and which one was fake. They were illusions.
All the Violets, including the original one, raised their hands. Multiple beams of black and purple light shot out, directed right at Lui...
"LUI, LOOK OUT!" Shu shouted from the back.
Snapping back to reality, Lui responded and quickly jumped away from the space just as the beams were about to hit him. He shot a large piece of ice at the Violets, but it just passed through them. "FUCK!!"
"Lui!! Don't swear! Valt is here!!" Shu shouted from behind, his hands covering the ears of a trembling Valt. "You... you idiot! Why not react when you got hit?! Do you want to die?!"
"Oh, Prince Luk. Now, come and fight me!" Violet shouted at Lui.
Lui ignored Violet. "Do you honestly think I care if I swear or not?! I was about to die! And..." he smirked slyly. "Shu, you do care for me."
"W-What?" Shu looked taken aback. His face was flushed. "I-In you dreams, Lui. I just don't enjoy watching people die in front of me, that's all!"
"Oh, so you do."
Violet's anger flared. "How dare you ignore me?!" She and her clones shouted in union and threw a series of purple beams at Lui and Shu. They kept firing their spells. "Prince Luk, just surrender for good! Just give me-!"
"CAN YOU PLEASE SHUT YOUR ANNOYING TRAP?!" Lui roared. "We're having an important conversation here!!!"
A fence of long icy spikes circled Violet tightly as Lui swung his hand at Violet and her clone's direction. The clones started to fade and disappear, and the only one left in the ice trap is the real Violet. The cold tips of the spikes glistened dangerously, threatening to cut if she moved. The room got colder and colder as a wave of hail and small pieces of ice hit Violet.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" She shirked. The scream could be from pain or from the cold. Or both. She panted. "N-No... I-I will have... your p-power..." she choked out as her body limped towards her side. She quickly stood back up. "Y-Your power... the souls... w-will be mine... MINE!"
"You're insane!" Lui shouted as he blocked a purple attack from Violet with an ice shield. He then fired some icicles at her. "Go have your brain checked!"
"PRINCE LUK-"
"THAT'S NOT MY FREAKING NAME! Longinus, aren't you going to help me?! Please?!" He dodged some glowing orbs that was thrown as him.
"Fine, fine," the spirit beside him, Longinus said. Longinus, unlike Xcalibur and Zeus, didn't have the form of a human. It looked like a dragon, a while and blue one. It had ice for claws and snow for its body. "Whatever makes you sleep at night, Luk. Now, launch my Beyblade form!!"
"And how was that going to help?"
"I know you've seen what happened why Xcalibur was launched. Just do it. PLEASE."
"Tch," Lui muttered and took out his launcher and Longinus. He locked his Bey onto his laucher. Lui made a circle with his arm as he prepared to launch.
"Nightmare shoot..." Shu muttered, eyes wide. "He's going to use that?!"
Lui smirked. "Three, two, one! Go... SHOOT!!!" He shouted as he lauched his Bey onto the ground. Lost Longinus spinned towards Violet at lightning speed. Literally. Sparks of black lightning were seen as Lost Longinus spinned.
Lost Longinus glowed a blue and purple light as it charged at Violet. Lui then felt a spark of power flowing through his veins. His eyes snapped wide.
"You felt that too, huh?" Longinus chuckled. "That's the power of our bond!!"
Towers of blocks of ice teared the ground open as they emerged from the soil. Lost Longinus spinned faster and faster and faster as its blue glow lit the whole room. A block of ice burst out underneath Violet. She was thrust into the air as the block of ice pushed her upwards. Violet let out another terrifying scream. She spat out some blood and raised her palm to attack.
Thousands and thousands of chains of purple glowing bullets were directed at Lui. They looked like bacteria, swarming and trying to decompose their food. Lui's eyes widened. He would never dodge the attacks.
Longinus smiled. "Luk- Lui, great power is in your possession. Use it. Compared to you, she is just unworthy and weak. You just don't know."
Lui nodded. He curled his hand into a tight ball. Lui glared at Violet, who laughed. The attacks would hit him in a second. "Freeze."
He squeezed his eyes shut, but the attacks never came. When Lui opened his eyes, he saw the purple bullets froze in midair, just a centimetre before him, and Lost Longinus still spinned wildly on the ground, glowing bright. The bullets looked like strings, tails. Realisation hit him. He had just froze light.
"Im-Impossible!!" Violet squeaked. "How..." She started to turn away and run. A large piece of ice that had rose from the ground blocked her way.
"Let me tell you something," Lui said coldly. "You are not only the most disgusting person I've ever met, but you are also a coward. Trying to run away? Not likely. You easily murder people in cold blood, but you are scared of being killed. Why did I even fight you? You're just an unworthy and power-hungry little demon that tries to kidnap people for fucking Beys."
Violet glared and gritted her teeth at Lui. She knew she would never win, not with Longinus on Lui's side. She knew she was just an unworthy demon in his eyes.
She managed to choke out a laugh. "Ha, you think you're so strong now?! I'll come back and have your souls, just you wait!!" With that, she disappeared from the room.
Lui stared at the space where Violet once stood. He looked at Longinus in disbelief. It was far too easy, far too quick. The expression on his face clearly wrote, 'What the hell just happened?'
Slowly, the other bladers in the back ran up to him. The freezing atmosphere of the room returned to the normal temperature.
"Lui!! Are you okay?" Zac was the first to ask. Lui glanced at a bleeding cut on his elbow. He didn't know how it even got there.
Lui's aura started to fade, as well as Longinus. He nodded at the fading spirit to show his appreciation and gratitude. Longinus smiled and nodded back to say 'you're welcome.' He picked up the no longer spinning Lost Longinus from the ground and pocketed it. Lui's purple eyes scanned the room and winced. Scarlet's rotting and crumbled body was still there, breaking down into sand and ashes, and the ice blocks, spikes and icicles he made were still there, sparkling and glistening silver.
"Yeah, yeah, you can say I'm alright-" he stopped and looked at Zac and the others once more. His face paled.
Xhaka seemed to catch his expression of fear. "What is it, Lui?" He asked. Lui looked at him in panic.
"Where's Shu?"
