Chapter 9: To Find Worth
After the silence Jason tentatively spoke up, "Another Great War?" he whispered. Possible voicing the fear and worry that was on everyone's mind with his tone. The last one nearly destroyed the world, according to history the two Gods, Notch and Herobrine fought for control of the world. Chaos spread as a result, creating what is today known as the Far Lands. The battle scared land that had been plunged almost into the Void, and now was no where near livable.
Seto nodded gravely, "I'm afraid so. As I told you, Brines were the start of the great war. Herobrine's two sons, having grown to of age, destroyed the first major city at the request of their father." he told them, "Starting what became known as the Great War later in history." he sighed softly pushing the aside and opening another on Magical Types.
"So you think he's going to use Adam to do the same?" Mitch asked looking at the sorcerer with serious brown eyes.
Seto flipped the pages of the book with a sound of confirmation, "Yes, it's around that time as it is." he told them ending on a page, "Here it is, Brine Magic or what is known as Lesser Demonic Magic." he told them. "Pyrokentic, teleportation, levitation, lighting, mind manipulation, and each brine seems to have their own special power. For instance, the eldest of Hero's sons fire was bright blue in color and burned hotter than normal flames, enough to even melt bones and obsidian." he sighed, "That only names the ones humans know of."
Jerome frowned a bit, "Why call is Lesser Demonic Magic?" he asked him.
"Well, it's not as strong for one, and it doesn't require your soul." Seto told him as Jerome grimaced at that. "I've seen too many good sorcerers be taken by the Demonic Magic." he told his friends quietly.
The small group was quiet to that as Ty spoke up next, "What does that mean for Adam?" he asked his sorcerer friend.
Seto shook his head, "I can't say... if he's under the influence of another then their is a chance to save him... if this is on his own free will." he left the statement open ended as Ty paled a bit.
"You can't be saying Adam would willingly join that monster!?" Ty yelled as Seto shook his head.
"No, I wouldn't think Adam did so willingly, from the evidence it was forced." he said softly to calm down Ty. "But, as for how to bring back our Adam, I have no idea." he said softly, as if reserving to thought. "My only thought would be to bring in the help of another God... If Adam is turned into a Brine, then it would be the best hunch."
Ty frowned at that, "But the only other God that could help us would be Notch... However, he rarely is heard of now." he told Seto. "Going to the temple near here wouldn't get his attention. After all, he's not be heard from since the last war."
Seto shook his head, frowning as he looked at his hands in thought. While they were talking Loki had come back into the room after it had gone a bit quiet and nuzzled up to his master purring to comfort him. Jason was silent for a moment then said softly, "But, we have to try, right?" he asked.
Everyone looked over at the spaceman, "I mean," Jason said looking at them, "even if it's pointless, it's a chance. And even if he can't help us fully, surely he'd know a way to help right?" he asked, hope in his tone.
Seto bit his lip at that, closing his books after marking the pages, still petting his familiar. "I would guess, Jason. It's worth a shot, but we'd have to go early as the sun rises. That would be the time the Aether is said to be the closest, early morning when the sun starts to shine over Minecraftia. Even better since it's nearing spring, time of new growth and the start again."
"DO we need to brine anything?" Jerome asked, Bac Gods tend to ask for things for high favors. Seto shook his head again at that.
"No," he told them looking at the table, "Notch is often known as the Benevolent God, he asks for nothing, but rather judges the worth of your request." he sat up right a bit holding his cat, "We can only hope our request is pure enough." he admitted to them.
After a while of more silence, deep thought Ty spoke slowly, "So that's our plan then... tomorrow before sunrise we head to the temple." he said in a low tone.
Mitch shrugged, "It's the best we got, now we just have to figure who is going." he said looking around the table.
"I will be needed, I've done this so many times with my family I know how to send up a pray." Seto said, "Ty is a given, but two will need to stay here to keep the place running."
A breath and Mitch said, "I'll stay, Jerome is more better with you guys should anything bad happen. Ian is more level headed so he'll keep me in line." he muttered the last part, earning a few chuckles and nods.
"I'll go with you guys." Jason said, "I might not be much here, but I hope to be of some with you all." he said softly.
"Don't think you're not, Jason." Ty muttered before sighing, "I guess that's the plan, tomorrow then?" he asked his friend.
Nods went around, as they all silently left. Leaving only Seto, alone in the silence of his library again. His hands gaze down at the dark thick book and he took a slow breath, running his fingers over the rough leather. He was worried, though this family book had everything to give them an idea of what had happened, it couldn't tell him much about the temple.
Because he wanted to know about the temple, the book would only tell him what he needed to know. Magic was tricky, should you want but not need, you would not get. Should you need, but not want, you would get.
He could now only hope that Notch would hear them and help them. His eyes gazed up for a moment, closing them slowly. As a decent of the first Light Sorcerer he wanted to think he knew as much as his family did, but truth be told, he was just a worried that Notch had abandon them as so many sorcerers thought.

As the friends spoke, deep under the surface, in a realm not of this own in the core of Minecraftia, sat Herobrine. His white eyes gazed down at the five bowing people. A small smirk played on his feature as he gave the command to rise, each one coming up at about the same pace and staring at their Lord and Master.
"I have watched you're progress for these past years." he told, speaking to his generals first. "You have kept things well and tight, proving once again your loyalty to me." he said in an approving tone. "You heeded my warnings well, and are very prepared for this war to come."
Vincent and Ember nodded slowly, eyes staring at Hero's with solid loyalty and fierce determination. His white eyes turned to his sorcerer, "Is the potion near completion?" he asked in a soft tone, like the wind in the night. Firm, powerful, yet enticing all the same.
Micheal nodded to him, "Yes my lord, by tonight I should have it perfected." he said with a tone of confidence.
Herobrine hummed in satisfaction, "Yes..." he breathed out, "Good. It's near time, I have replaced the one who fell." his eyes turned to Skybrine next to his youngest son, Noah. "And now, we just need to find the Aether Key."
"My lord." Ember spoke softly, "What is this Key?" she asked, Herobrine looked at her with soft white eyes and a smile played on his lips.
"Now a What, Ember, but a Who." he told her in an amused tone, "This Key is what opens the Aether gates, and it only opens for one human." he leaned up in his chair and chuckled.
"My Nephew." he told his followers.
