siblings and unsettling feelings | .13

"Meet your siblings? I just found out you had siblings!" Remy furrowed her brows as she exhaled loudly. Hal rubbed the back of his neck, his gaze to the floor.

It had been a week since Hal was fully recovered and was able to leave the apartment. Hal wanted to say something could find the right words as the woman across the kitchen.

"And? I already met your siblings!" Hal retorted quickly, confusion riddled on his features. Rolling her eyes, Remy slammed her mug down onto the kitchen counter.

"You are best friends with my brother! You met him before me!"

After a small moment of silence, Hal was the one to break the tense air.

"Why are you making this such a big deal, it's just dinner!" Hal shouted back. Remy furrowed her brows, his lips pressing into a thin line.

She put her hands on her lips, anger clearly evident on her face.

"It's your siblings! It's like meeting your parents, Hal!"

The look that passed through Hal's face didn't got past Remy, his eyes flashed an emotion she couldn't put her finger on, but it was quickly covered up as he clenched his jaw.

Exhaling loudly, Hal said nothing as he just turned around and walked to the living room, leaving a livid Remy in the kitchen.

"Hal-"

"Remy." Hal bit back, turning his head to the side to see Remy slowly walking back to him. She bit her lip, silencing herself before she dug herself deeper.

Hal gripped the edge of the couch, his knuckles turning white as Remy stood beside him. She placed her hand on his causing his eyes to go from his hand to Remy's eyes as she held a face of concern.

Slowly unlatching his hand from the couch, Remy took his hand into her own as she held onto his hand tightly.

"C'mon, we got a dinner to get ready for." Remy led him to his room as Hal only nodded in response.

____________

Taking a quick look at herself in the mirror, Remy grinned widely. She was wearing a light green dress - upon Hal's request. He went on about the irony of it, but Remy just shushed him. It was around seven right now and Remy was waiting for Hal to pick her up.

She grabbed her phone, her fingers typing away on her phone as Chloe was blowing up her phone since she had told her about where she was going.

C-HOE❤️❤️:
hIS SIBLINGS??

C-HOE❤️❤️:
shit, let me get a dress first bitch

Remy laughed loudly, shaking her head as she responded to her friend.

I'm not marrying him, hoe, I'm just meeting his siblings.

C-HOE❤️❤️:
uh-huh

C-HOE❤️❤️:
might as well set a date too

Hearing a knock at the door, Remy shoved her phone into her purse quickly, not responding to Chloe - which she was going to get an earful about. Putting her purse on her shoulder, she unlocked the door to find a fine dress Hal.

He wore a white button-up, the first few buttons not down, his sleeves rolled up as he also wore light blue jeans. His hair was slightly messy as he was trying to fix it once Remy opened the door.

He paused his actions, his eyes immediately falling to the woman before him. His eyes could have popped out of their sockets if he widened them even more. Biting his lip, he put his hands in his pocket as he finally met her eyes.

"You - You look amazin-beautiful." Hal stuttered, still awestruck.

Remy brushed her hair behind her ear as she chuckled. "Wow, making Hal Jordan stutter, that's new."

The blush that came over Hal's face made her squeeze his cheek as she closed the door behind her. Hal rubbed the back of his neck as he walked out of the apartment stairs behind Remy.

Remy walked to the passenger seat of the red mustang, after taking in the beaut of a car. She whistled as she entered the car, Hal following closely with a smirk.

"This is one hell of a car." Remy complimented as she clicked her seatbelt.

Hal smirked wordlessly as he turned the car on. Remy turned the radio on, switching the station until she found her station - 80's Rock. Hal gave her a side look, a brow raised as Bon Jovi started blaring through car's speakers, Remy strumming on her air guitar.

"Fuck yes, Bon Jovi is my shit!" Remy exclaimed as she took a breath from rocking out. Hal laughed as he pulled up to a red light.

"What do you know about Bon Jovi?" Hal asked, turning fully to the woman to his side to find her mouthing along to 'You Give Love A Bad Name.'

Hal chuckled softly, his eyes on her as Remy went hard. The air guitar and all, Remy wasn't minding that Hal was just staring at her with an interested look gleaming in his eyes.

After the light changed and the song finally ended, Remy leaned back in her chair, her breath ragged.

"Alright, take a breather."

Remy nodded with a grin plastered on her face as she turned down the music that was blaring from his radio. She pulled down the visor, brushing stray pieces of hair out of her face and checking her makeup.

Turning the car, Hal parked into a very nice looking driveway which led to an even better looking house. There was another car in the garage, a black BMW. The car look matched the look of the house - a nice touch.

Hal turned to Remy, closing the mirror and roughly put it back to it's original position.

"Stop, don't do that. Don't... doubt that you look anything less than amazing, Remy." Hal scolded lightly, his expression hard. She opened her mouth to say something but quickly closed it.

Hal exited the car, locking it once Remy exited silently. She saw Hal hesitate, stealing glimpses at the house with his hands in his pocket. His body was tense, his jaw clenched.

Remy walked over to him, locking her arm into his elbow. Their gaze connected as he let out a shaky exhale. He was really trying not to screw this up, we wanted to make things right with his siblings but ever since his mother, he never believed he could make up for what he did.

"It's alright, babe." Remy reassured, seeing the nervousness in his eyes. He just stared at the front door, not really wanting to be the one who knocked but he wasn't going to let Remy knock on his parent's house's front door.

Remy tried to contain her smile as Hal took her hand into his own as he knocked on the door. Silence took over as after a few moments, the sound of the locks turning made Remy stand up straighter.

Opening the door, a slightly shorter man stood in casual clothes. He had brown hair and looked like a shorter version on Hal Jordan. Everything up to his eyes matched his brother as Remy's eyebrows furrowed.

"Jimbo!" Hal spoke, his hesitant and nervous behavior gone and the regular Hal was back. He grabbed the younger looking man into his arms and hugged him tightly as the younger man groaned.

"You're messing up my look!" He complained, fixing his hair once Hal let him go. Remy laughed loudly, seeing the striking resemblance as he even had his hair in the same style and Remy loved it.

Hal put his hands on his hips, a brow raised as he spoke, "huh, I've been changing your pampers since day one and now you get shy in front of my date?"

Jim only huffed, finally looking up at Remy to greet her. He brushed off Hal and walked closer to Remy. He stuck out his hand, a small smile on his face.

"Jim Jordan."

"Remy Gardner."

Hal watched the exchange, keeping an eye on his younger brother once the handshake took longer than usual. Eyeing the brown haired man, Hal waited for his brother to retract his arm - or he will do it for him.

The younger Jordan blushed as he retracted his arm, he other hand rubbing the back of his neck. He sidestepped, making way for the couple to enters the house, but before Hal could enter, Jim grabbed his arm and whispered something to him.

Remy stepped into the house, admiring every corner of this house. The kitchen was beautiful and quite massive. It connected to the dining room to it's left and the living room. Glass took the place of walls for the living room, showing a beautiful view of the skyline of Coast City.

Jim and Hal entered the room moment after, Hal's hard expression returning. Remy turned around to see both of the Jordan siblings mirrored the same expression - and this scared Remy.

"Hal, what's wrong?" Remy took ahold of his arm once more, a worried look portrayed on her features. He shook his head absentmindedly, the muscle on his jaw forming from clenching his jaw tightly.

The older Jordan huffed outwardly, putting his hands on his hips as he turned to Remy.

"Jack will be joining us tonight."

_________

The most awkward moment of her life was sitting next to Hal and his sibling - his older brother was actually the main source of her awkwardness. When Hal told her that Jack would be joining us, she thought nothing of it - but what he failed to mention was that Hal and James weren't on good terms, at all.

The second Jack stepped into the house, the air immediately turned tense. The second he looked Hal in the face, the arguing started.

"What the hell is he doing here?" Remy assumed he was talking to Jim since he didn't know Remy and didn't seem to like he was talking to Hal.

Jim walked in between Hal and Jack, serving as a mediator, but they seemed determined to fight it out. Jack walked up to Hal, glaring as he did so, and Hal was never one to back down from a fight.

"What is Mom's killer doing here? Haven't you done enough, Hal?" Jack spat, fighting against Jim to get to Hal as he stand still. Hal wasn't going to fight his brother physically but he wasn't above it.

Remy furrowed his eyebrow once Jack spoke, making her rather confused. 'Mom's killer?' Hal didn't kill his mother, she knew that for a fact.

"Jack..."

"You don't have the right to speak to me, not after what you did."

So much for making stuff right with his family, Remy thought. Hal would not have came if he knew Jack was going to be here - he only came for Jim, but you can't avoid your past.

"Hal, listen..." Before Remy could her sentence out, he shook his head. He had a look on his face, the one he had when Remy found out he was a Yellow Lantern - it was a mixture of sadness and disgust.

His brown eyes glared into the older looking man, silence taking over them. Hal turned to Jim, his eyes softened ever so slightly. He swallowed as he grabbed Remy's arm.

"I'll... talk to you later, eh?" Hal spoke as he started walking past both of his siblings, his eyes never leaving Jim's. As he walked past Jack, he hit his shoulder - roughly.

Jack turned around to say something but Hal and Remy was were already out the door. Remy wanted to ask him what happened in there but she assumed it was a very sensitive topic.

Even if Jack was Hal's brother, he didn't have the right call Hal his mother's killer. Sighing, the couple got into the car and quickly left.

Silence engulfed the two, Remy's mind was already making answers from the questions she was thinking of asking Hal - she was jumping to conclusions but she wasn't going to put more salt into the wound.

Hal sighed, biting his lip as he gripped the wheel tighter. "God... I'm so sorry you had see that, it's-it's just that Jack's always been like that. Been so-"

"Hey, hey, I'm okay, how are you?" Remy gave Hal a concerned look as he only stared at the pavement before him. His hardened expression returned, his eyes was darkened with mixed emotions swirling within them.

He exhaled silently, his head dropping slightly. He put back his façade, a smile gracing his features as he turned to Remy.

Hal placed his hand on her thigh, his pearly whites shining as he turned to Remy. Slightly startled by the sudden change of demeanor, Remy had her mouth agape from the way this man changed within an instant.

"Careful now, if you keep your mouth open like that, we are going to have it for other uses." Hal spoke with a sultry tone, his eyes staying on hers the entire time.

Remy's eyebrows shot up, instantly closing her mouth from the comment. Her cheeks became rather red, her gaze going to her lap as Hal chuckled.

"S-Stop it." Remy stuttered.

Hal faked shock as he gasped loudly. "Wow, making Remy Gardner stutter, that's new."
