early mornings | .12
"YOU are under bed rest for the rest of the week," Remy recited off the paper the doctors wrote for her. Remy - after much convincing - was able to bring Hal to his apartment under her care. The doctors saw how Remy was whilst he was unconscious and ran tests and of the such but she was able to bring him home.
Hal gave her a 'psst', rolling his eyes. "That's bor-ing, let's do something fun."
Remy gave Hal a look, putting her hands on her hips as he grinned. With a roll of her eyes, Remy read over the rest of the paper, seeing what medication he needed and when he needed to take them.
She put the paper down on the kitchen counter, looking around his apartment. Surprisingly, this is the first time she had been inside of his apartment. It was also surprisingly clean, every room spotless and there wasn't clothes on the floor.
"Is my kitchen really more interesting than me?" Hal spoke from inside his room, shuffling heard from the same room.
"You better not be getting out of bed, Harold." Remy scolded almost motherly as she started walking towards his bedroom. She could almost feel his smirk.
She found Hal in his bed without his cover, which left him bare to see. Remy walked in, her eyes immediately falling to Hal's naked form as she huffed.
"You aren't going to seduce me into letting you out of bed." Remy spoke, her brow raised at the thought. Hal only shrugged, stretching as his eyes stayed on Remy.
She only gave him an look, her hands going to her hip.
"Oh, the fun I was talking about doesn't involve leaving the bed." He smirk smugly, sitting up straighter. Remy only shook her head, a small smile on her lips.
"We aren't going to have sex when you're still injured."
Hal shrugged. "I'll be worth it, now c'mon, I haven't seen you in weeks!"
The pilot pat the space next to him, waiting from Remy to respond. She only rolled her eyes playfully, walking over to the drawers next to the bed and pulled out a pair of briefs.
She threw it at Hal as she walked over to the other side of the bed. Hal groaned loudly, putting the pair of briefs that she threw at him on. Remy smiled as she pulled the covers away and entered the bed.
"Happy?" Remy asked, looking over at Hal. He smiled brightly as he nodded.
"Very."
Silence took over the room, the only sounds heard was the city bustling to life in the early morning. Remy closed her eyes, taking in the silence as she felt Hal shift from his position.
Turning her head slightly, she raised an eyebrow at Hal before she opened her eyes. Hal was staring at her. His face was expressionless, his eyes glued on her.
"What?"
Hal stayed silent, his hand reaching to grab her face. His fingers brushed over her cheekbone, his brown eyes staring deeply into her green ones.
Slowly, his fingers inched away from her cheek to her forehead, where a new scar had formed. He frowned slightly as he furrowed his brows. He brushed over it, feeling it before he exhaled.
"Sinestro?" Hal asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Remy saw how serious he became and turned fully to him as he awaited her answer.
Remy only nodded meekly, not trusting her voice. She swallowed silently. She was afraid of Hal reaction, how he might freak out, but he only nodded. He had a look of disgust on his face as he sat up straight and crossed his legs.
He opened his mouth to speak, but quickly closed it. He was visibly tense, his jaw was clenched as he was looking outside the window. Remy sat up as well, not knowing what to say.
He shook his head as he sighed. "I can feel your fear - I should despise this feeling, b-but..."
Remy slipped her hand in his as she grabbed his chin, forcing him to look at her. She could see the pain in his eyes as she tried to reason with him.
"You are a Green Lantern, Hal, nothing less."
"Am I? I broke my oath twice, how can I earn the trust of the Guardians? How about my friends? You fear me, and I love the rush it gives me." Hal's voice broke at the end as he wiped his nose.
Remy unclasped her hand from his, shifting until she moved to sit on his lap. She put her arms on his shoulders as she saw water starting pool.
"Hey, hey, look at me." Remy pushed his face towards her, Hal licking his lips as he tried to look in the other direction. Tears slowly escaped his eyes as he was silent. She hated seeing Hal like this.
Her brows furrowed as she wiped the tears with her thumb. Hal finally turned to her with red eyes, his hands on his lap. His gaze dropped to his hands, Remy's hands still cupping his face.
"I don't know if I can go back there." Hal spoke quietly.
Remy opened her mouth to speak but Hal shook his head quickly and stood up, making Remy fall on the bed. Hal wiped his face once again and walked into the room beside his bedroom.
He had put his walls back up. She huffed, not knowing what to do. Looking around the room, Remy found a couple of picture frames around the room.
Standing up, Remy grabbed one of the picture frames. The picture had a young boy - who Remy presumed was Hal - wearing an obviously oversized bomber jacket that looked like Hal's. He was grinning widely, holding a helmet as an older man had his arm wrapped around his shoulders.
She smiled slightly, putting the picture down before looking at another one. It was Hal when he was older, looking the same as he looks now and another woman. She had brown hair, her face squeezed onto the picture as Hal was caught mid-chuckle. This picture didn't look that old so that brought her to her next question; who was this woman?
Remy put the picture back down and exited the room. She didn't want to snoop in his room, so she went to the living room. The homey looking apartment was colored white, the kitchen was brown and the floor was marble.
Sighing, she walked to the living room, running a stressed hand through her hair. She wasn't sure what to do, Hal was wallowing in his own self-pity and he doesn't want help from anyone.
Taking a seat on the couch, she crossed her legs under herself. The sound of the door opening caught Remy's attention, knowing Hal was coming out of the bathroom.
"Remy?" Hal's voice was meek and soft.
She stayed silent, her knee propped up under her chin. Her eyes were trained on the glass behind the TV. Remy heard Hal walking to the living room, his footsteps rather silent against the marble.
Remy exhaled, clenching her jaw once she felt something wrap around her body, warming up her body. She didn't look to her left, she knew Hal's saddened expression would make her even sadder.
"It's cold and all you're wearing shorts and a shirt." He explained as he took a seat next to Remy. She had goosebumps all over her body but Hal didn't feel the cold.
Remy didn't say a word, her gaze dropping to the floor. Water start to pool as she chuckled slightly.
"Why do you have to be so goddamn adorable?"
Hal's blinding grin broke out on his features as he lean back in his chair. Remy raised a brow as she looked at him. He changed into jeans and a white t-shirt.
"Yeah, It's in my jeans."
Remy gave him a look, playfully rolling her eyes as Hal chuckled. That sound was music to her ears.
Exhaling, Remy just stared at Hal, taking in every feature. She wanted to just stare at how the light hit his face and made his cheeks higher than they were, or how his eyes winkled every time he let out a genuine laugh.
Grabbing his face, Remy's lips clasped over his, savoring the flavor of Hal's lips. Hal was surprised at first, but slowly, their lips started to move in sync.
Breaking the kiss to regain breath, a small smile broke out on her face. Hal bit his lip, his breath coming out uneven.
Without even thinking about it, Hal closed the space once more. Remy grinned against his lips, feeling his tongue inch towards her mouth. She wrapped her arms around his neck, turning fully towards him as she moved from the couch to his lap.
Hal placed one of his hands on her hips, the other on her ass. Squeezing her ass, Hal grinned against her lips once a small moan from the back of her throat escape through.
Remy placed her hands on his chest, slowly pushing away as she raised a brow.
"I'm still not having sex with you."
Hal threw his back. "C'mon!"
Remy smiled, pecking his cheek as he huffed. She stood up from his lap, heading to the kitchen as Hal just watched her. Hearing a low whistle, Remy only smirked.
"Thanksgiving is coming up." Remy commented, grabbing a mug after looking through all the cabinets. She turned on the coffee maker and leaned on the island in the middle.
Hal nodded, grabbing the TV remote. Hal wasn't one for holidays but he didn't say anything. Remy turned around, sending him a questioning glance but she remained silent.
Pouring herself coffee, she took her mug and walked back to the couch. Scrolling through the channels, Hal wrapped his arm around Remy, pulling her closer as she sipped on her drink.
Feeling her phone vibrate, Remy groaned.
"You gonna answer that?" Hal asked, taking his eyes off the TV and onto the girl under his arm. Remy only rolled her eyes in response.
"It's Ricky. I could careless about what she is texting me about at 10 in the morning." Remy retorted, taking a gulp of her coffee. Hal only smiled as he turned back to the random channel he had placed it on.
