THREE
authors note: this chapter is about how Sirius and Athena become a couple so this takes place at the end of the school year/summer
ATHENAS HEART WAS pounding fast, her breaths shorter and shorter every one she inhaled. Beads of sweat fell down her face as she tossed and turned, her wand was just out of reach. Pain was spreading through her like wildfire. Every muscle and tendon felt like it was being slowly cut to shreads. She was so helpless, nothing the girl could do could change it. So all Athena did was scream, the pain didn't stop but the screaming continued.
"Athena" A voice called out to her.
"Athena!"
"Athena!"
Athena tossed as she recognized the voice, the agonizing pain still searing through her body.
"Sirius?!"
"Sirius help me!"
Athena jerked awake, wet from a mix of sweat and tears, her head pounding.
"Athena are you alright?" Sirius asked with a look of worry as he made sure she was alright, "I could hear you from my room."
Athena's heart slowed as she realized it was all just dream. She calmed down slightly and took a deep breath, "Uh yeah just a nightmare."
"Oh," He said as he sat down on the bed, "Do you wanna talk about it?"
"No" She responded quickly, gripping at the end of her blankets.
"Okay" He breathed, looking right in her eyes, "I'm here if you need anything".
"Thanks Sirius" Athena nodded slightly, still somewhat uncomfortable.
"Of course, anything for the Goddess!"
The nickname from first year happened to stick. Hearing it made Athena relax even more, she felt safe with Sirius. She felt at home.
"Would you mind... staying with me?" Athena looked hopeful, but an embarrassed blush crept onto her cheeks.
"Sure" Sirius nodded and laid down next to Athena.
They talked for a while, about life, school and everything in between. He told her about his family, how much he resented them. He even brought up his brother Regulus. Athena always knew Sirius had layers, but the happy boy she was used to had many more than she could have ever imagined.
"Athena" His voice broke slightly as he asked, not sure if he was crossing a line, "How did your parents die?"
Athenas breath caught in her throat for a moment, "One year from today."
"What?" The boy scrunched his brows, not entirely understanding what she was implying.
"One year from today I will tell you, I promise" Athena grabbed his hand as she said promise.
"Okay, I'm holding you to it Goddess."
Athena turned to talk again but heard a small snore coming from the boy. She smiled and let go of his hand to let him sleep. Her nightmares never felt so scary after that day.
That night only strengthened the bond Sirius and Athena had. They knew just about everything about each other. Somehow the two just clicked. They had always been close, but now they were inseparable.
Then about a week later the two decided to go to Diagon Alley. The rest of the group couldn't go, but Sirius and Athena decided to go ahead anyway. They sat at the Leaky Cauldron and talked for what seemed like hours. The two then headed home, but returned to an empty house. Fleamont and Euphemia were at work, and James was out. Since it was a nice day they went out for a walk. They walked in silence side by side, but they were perfectly content. Athena sensed Sirius fidgeting hand down towards hers, debating on if he should go to hold it. Taking the initiative, Athena laced her fingers through his without saying a word and just walked. Words weren't needed, and for a split second nothing mattered but this moment. As they both walked they found a park and a guy playing the guitar on a bench.
"May I have this dance?" Sirius asked, a small smile spreading on his face.
"You may." Athena grabbed his hand.
Athena laughed as Sirius grabbed her waist and they began swaying to the beat. Happiness was practically radiating off the two. Sirius twirled her and Athena felt the wind brush against her cheeks as she laughed and enjoyed the moment.
"You're a pretty good dancer Padfoot" She smiled as he dipped her low to the ground.
"I have a good partner." Sirius winked.
The two walked back to the house hand in hand. They had happy hearts and couldn't keep the smiles off their faces. Athena would admit she was confused however, this boy had managed to change all of these feelings inside her in one day. They were best friends but this feeling of something more was pulling them closer and closer.
"Athena"
"Ye-"
His lips pressed against hers in soft but strong manner. Athena took them in, almost as if it wasn't a shock at all. His hair brushed against her face making her giggle slightly, but the thought of ending it seemed impossible. The kiss was gentle but longing and intoxicating all at the same time. Athena didn't want to pull away, but yet found herself lost as to what this all meant. She certainly didn't want to ruin her friendships, or change her life. But for another kiss like this one, Athena knew she was ready for anything.
