Ch.26 The 'Twilight Princess'
It's been a month since (y/n)'s death and the nights along with the days have been horrible without her. Midna made me eat and sleep for a day since all day I would travel, my mind only focused on avenging her. I would avenge her... it was the only way possible I could bury her body where it needed to be.
Soon after I saved liia she didn't take the news well. The shock came first before the sobbing happened. While she sobbed and I cried a little too... (y/n) didn't know but she was like the best sister to liia... the only girl she could talk to because her mother died when she was still young.
"Link," liia's voice echoed inside my head. "(y/n) wouldn't want you killing yourself over her death... it would hurt her... but if you think this is the only way then I won't stop you... but just know (y/n) wouldn't have wanted it this way, Link. Just remember that."
"Yeah..." I mumbled to myself, bringing the last shard of Twilight with me. "But the villain who killed her needs to be brought to justice... Zant... I swear I will kill you."
Midna came out of my shadow suddenly, giving me a worried look. "I don't think it was Zant... when I felt the twilight taking her it felt much more powerful than Zant... even darker than darkness itself."
I licked my lips to keep them moist. This desert heat was killing me. "Do you have an idea of who it was then?"
"Someone not from our world... Ganon is more like it."
"Ganon?" The name ringed inside my head. It's like I've heard it millions of times and yet it felt like this was the first time I was really hearing. "Who is he?"
"He claims to be the prince of darkness. It's his shortened name of Ganondorf. I believe he came to Zant one day and took the power for him. Ganon is just using him to be his puppet anyways so I don't see why that idiot even followed him anyways. Zant will always be remembered a traitor in my kingdom..."
"Midna,"I spoke up, cleaning the tension in my voice. "If you said my kingdom... then you must be its princess."
Midna looked away from me. A sick pain came over her face as she closed her eye. "Yes... I still am as Zant like it think he's the king. Those monsters you kill for portals... they're my people turned into beats."
A sick iciness came inside me. No wonder Midna didn't like to help out with killing those beats.... so it was just her people controls by Zant. Maybe we both have a loss we can sympathize will. "I'm sorry Midna. That's horrible... seeing your people turn into beats... is there a way to save them?"
She shook her head. "They lost all sense of being." An anger formed into her eye as she balled her hand up into a fist. "I'll never forgive Zant of what he's done. Not only did he betray his tribe, but also killing his people off easily like play toys! Link, If you can I want to kill Zant."
"But Mid- oh fine... it seems only fair."
Midna smiled and looked at the mirror shard with a longing, the same longing when I look at Ordon Village. "Thank you, Link."
"You're welcome. Now let's fix the mirror."
Midna let out the three other shards as they all locked into place, as a single and whole piece of the object. The mirror glowed bright with symbols from the dark night as the chains around the huge mass of block was released.
It sunk into the ground and then the mirror projected its light onto the block, it start to change and suddenly a portal was made from the inside of the block.
Midna looked at it with a tiny silver of hope. "Some call our realm a world of shadows, but that makes it sound unpleasant and evil... The twilight there holds a serene beauty... You have seen it yourself as the sun sets on this world."
A flash back came in my mind as (y/n) and I were on the ranch watching the sun set behind the hills. Her head rested on my chest where I could breathe easily and peacefully, knowing we were alone together and in peace. If I had a wish... it would be to relive the moment with her, to feel her and sense the aura she had around me.
Midna continued to talk and snapped me out of my longing memory. "Bathed in that light all people were pure and gentle... But things changed once that foul power pervaded the world."
"It was all our doing." The sages said, head down in shame. They must have sensed Midna's pain from just her story... maybe mine as well... people say pain is easy to see when the person is hollow inside.
"We overestimated our abilities as sages and attempted to put an end to Ganondorf's evil magic. I hope you can find it in yourself to forgive our carelessness...." They then bowed their head down more in respect, as if a royalty was in the room. "O Twilight Princess."
Shock came over her small, round shaped face. "What...? So... you knew..."
She turned her face away and looked down in shame. "As a ruler who fled her people, I'm hardly qualified to forgive you." A horrible memory flashes across her vision, but she closed her eyes to refuse the tears to leak. "In our world, we've long believed that the Hero would appears as a divine beast."
Midna turns to face me, a small smile slowly forming on her face. "That's why when I found you, I thought I could use you, Link. And I only cared about returning our world to normal..." A look of shame passed over her face. "I didn't care what happened to the world of light, not at all. But after witnessing the selfless lengths that Princess Zelda, (y/n), and you have gone to... your sacrifices.... I now know, in the bottom of my heart, that I must save this world, too. There is no other way. If we can just defeat Zant, the curse on me will dissolve and we may be able to revive Zelda." She came closer to me, cupping my face in one hand. "Let's go, Link. For Zelda! For this world! But most of all.... for (y/n)."
The talk must have fired her up because she disappeared into the portal faster than I could blink. For (y/n)... huh? It seems just like yesterday she hated her just for being a human. Now she was treating her like Princess Zelda... a person also worth fighting for.
The sages bowed to be in respect as they disappeared in the light of the moon. I stood at the stand as the stairs made of light were created as I stood at the true center of the entrance.
"For (y/n). I swear to kill who killed you."
I then let the twilight take my body so many times in its darkness. Only this time it felt darker and sinister than before... I doesn't matter because I will strike the sword of evils bane into the monster...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The air was thick and dark as (y/n) breathed through it, looking at the endless land of Twilight. Lord Ganondorf had saved her life and she wanted to repay him, so she did anything he would ask.
She put her in the castle of the Twilight Realm where the king Zant lives. She really didn't like the king since he was... weird and creepy. But she was only doing this for her Lord Ganondorf, the true king was only him.
"Oh (y/n)~" Zant's annoying voice echoed from the throne room. "Come here~"
"Ugh," She wrinkled her nose in disgust. "He better not do anything weird."
When she entered the throne room Zant was sitting on the Twilight throne, his mask off so (y/n) could truly see his ugly face. "What's the matter? It seems like you saw the most horrible thing."
'Yeah, it's you'. she managed a fake smile. "Oh it's nothing. I was just enjoying some fresh twilight air."
Zant rolled his eyes, which sent a shiver down her spine. "There nothing out there to enjoy. Why don't you sit on my lap?"
(y/n) stopped in her tracks. She already gone into a... revealing dress which she was already wearing, but sitting on his lap would feel like the world would end. "Ummm... but Zant-"
"King Zant."
She gritted her teeth. "King Zant... I just don't feel like sitting down right now."
"Oh but you must."
"But I-"
"I SAID SIT!" He snapped his fingers as (y/n) was pulled by magic and harshly put on his lap. She cursed and rub her lower back. Zant smiled and wrapped an arm around her waist. "I'm sorry, did it hurt? That's your fist warning of not following my rules~"
"Mental note." She didn't bother to cover up the iciness in her tone.
Zant hummed in curiosity. "What's this? New visitors?"
From the outside door a single forming blocks came into view. (y/n) saw it was a human like herself, but only he was from the light world while she hailed from the twilight world.
Zant growled under his breath. He gently put (y/n) down on the throne. "Stay here for me, my Twilight Princess. I have some business to take care of."
He disappeared from the blink of an eye as (y/n) looked out at the darkness of the outside before summoning the crystal ball. It could let anyone see anywhere around the kingdom and she focused it on the Hero. Her eyes began to dilate at how handsome this Hero was.
The blues of his eyes were the same colors of the sky always wanted to see from the light world, along with his face that was round but had a somewhat of a baby face to it. The edges and curves of his face were sharp enough to cut through rocks, but his muscles were something more to die for. As a Hero he seemed cute then deadly, but that's what made him so attracted to (y/n), he was nothing like she ever seen before.
He started his way to the castle as (y/n) sat back and watch his every moment. "Let's see what you got, so called Hero of Time."
