Chapter Twelve

Feelings walks through the Omniverse leisurely, but the four Monsters have to rush to keep up. Their Multiverse disappears, and there are no more landmarks to guide them. Feelings doesn't falter in the emptiness. All Deities know their way around the vast Omniverse. Alloy has been disconnected from it for so long that he'd be afraid of getting lost on his own.

"So...... cool wings," Reaper breaks the silence, feeling socially awkward and unsure of what to say as they jog after Feelings.

"Oh, yeah! I was actually born with wings as a Deity. I can only make temporary ones now, though I rarely do." Alloy enjoys the distraction. He wiggle his wings a bit before letting the magic in them unravel. The strings dissolve and the ink simply drips and falls to the ground where it's left behind.

"Any other surprises we should know?" Nightmare grunts. He's kinda annoyed about not getting any warning before falling several stories after they left the Multiverse. Alloy laughs nervously, not giving an answer. He looks back at the others with a playful smirk.

"Alloy! What happened to your skull?" Dream freaks out when he sees it, but has no idea when it happened.

"What?....." Alloy is just confused. He slows a little and feels his face, scared to find a small crack splintering out from one of his eye sockets. It's somehow not effecting his starry eye light. "Oh....."

"When the hell did you hit your head?" Nightmare hisses, more worried than angry.

"It's....... It's fine. Don't worry about it, I'm okay." Alloy turns away before more can be said. Dream swears that he catch a glimpse of another mark on the God's neck when he turns. Nightmare wants to stop Alloy and demand answers, but then he sees the door up ahead. There's no time.

The emptiness around them is abruptly interrupted by a set of doors. They don't look connected to anything at all. The doors just stand in the empty air all alone. They're engraved with many different symbols and runes, none of which Dream, Nightmare, or Reaper recognize.

"You do realize that if you're proven not to be a Deity, than you'll have no place here?" Feelings stops just at the door to talk again with the shell of Balance. "Lesser beings do not belong in the Omniverse. I doubt Fate would be willing to even let my champions go after such an accusation."

"I won't let anyone hurt my friends! And I-I am Balance. Fate has gone too far, and this is the only way to protect my Multiverse. It is my right and duty." Alloy....... is becoming more scared after what Feelings said earlier, but there's no going back now, especially after finding that crack in his skull. Balance really could have faded by now. Those Alloy brought here are in incredible danger. He doesn't know if he would've came on his own, though. Just having friends near makes Alloy feel stronger, and he'll fight harder for them. He's more determined with their support.

"Into the spider's lair........" Reaper mumbles as he examines the door.

Feelings lays one palm flat on the door that even dwarfs her amazing size. It cracks open and begins to swing inwards once it recognizes a Deity's presence. Although there was no visual building that the doors lead into, the doors open to a large cathedral. A walkways stretches from the doors and over a deep chasm and to a circular stone stage. The entire space is dim and dreary. The stage has many seats of varying sizes for a large audience on one side. The other side is for the council of Old Ones. Nine massive chairs are curved around one side of the stage. The one in the center is even larger than the rest.

"The others will know the council is needed whatever happens is of your own doing." Feelings shows very little emotion. She won't think anything of the loss of four lessers, even if two are her champions. She has more in other Multiverses. Although, this may be interesting to watch. The little one thinks himself to be one of them. Feelings is standing on the stage with them at one moment, but then she appears on one of the council seats. She sits two to the left of the center. The four skeletons stand alone.

"Alloy, what's gonna-" Dream tries to talk with Alloy, but he's cut off by the sound of a portal. The group spins around towards the area with the many seats. A single, strange looking human has appeared near the bottom of the rows. Scales cover various parts of his skin, and his eyes are large and bug-like. He's a young Deity, standing a little shorter than Reaper. More of the less powerful Deities teleport into the room and begin filling the audience. All of them had felt the summons. The arrival of a much more powerful presence jerks attention away from the lessers. A new Old One sits just one seat from the far right.

"Chaos," Alloy says, inclining his head just as he did with Feelings. Chaos is a large man, his skin split by rivers of molten rock. The Old One squints curiously at Alloy. Dream and Nightmare shift closer to Alloy in unease.

"Destiny." Alloy smiles as he nods this time. Destiny has black hair, eyes, and a long dress, but her two feathered wings are pure white. She smiles back at Alloy. The God continues to name each Old One for the benefit of the others. Memory, Karma, Time, and Soul teleport in one by one.

They are joined by Fate. She sits next to the chair in the center. Alloy does not nod to her, but stares. The crack in his skull splinters outward into two branches. Fate's eyes lock onto him. Her face remains carefully blank. The cathedral is dead quiet. Not even the Deities say a word, but all of them stare at the four mortals. Monsters aren't supposed to be able to get into the Omniverse. They're the ones who called for judgment? Alloy wants to squirm under the heavy gazes. There's nothing to do at the moment but wait. The waiting eats at his resolve. Alloy does makes sure to stand protectively between his friends and the Old Ones. Standing just so also prevents them from seeing the worsening cracks. This could get very bad. Then the waiting ends. A new magical presence seeps into the cathedral as the last member of the council arrives.

"Ancient, the Judge." Alloy doesn't just nod this time. He drops down to one knee and bows his head. Anything less might get him crushed on the spot. Dream, Nightmare, and Reaper copy him after a moment. Ancient's true form is unidentifiable. Too much glowing light shines off their body to make out a shape. They've seated themselves in the center chair. Ancient is the absolute highest power in their plain of existence. Classic Sans is their champion.

"Feelings......... Have these Monsters called for Judgment?" Ancient asks, voice booming, but also confused. "This space is reserved for the Higher. Did you bring them here?"

"And the Higher it claims to be, Judge. The tiny one in the front claims to be of us. I can not decide weather to take its claim seriously, so I thought it best to inform you." Feelings doesn't show any favoritism, and explains quickly. She doesn't want to upset Ancient. Mortals have never before received Judgement.

"Is that so?" Ancient looks back at Alloy, "Is this true? What is your name, and what grievance do you have against another Deity?" Ancient's power is carefully poking and prodding at Alloy's own strength, but just like Feelings said, it's all off. Alloy is too weak to be a Deity, but seems absurdly strong for a Monster, even an outcode or glitch.

"Balance, your reverence. I am Balance." Alloy has to talk quite loudly to be heard.

Ancient reacts to that name. "Balance? Absurd! That particular Deity faded long ago, as did others of his calling." It makes Ancient become slightly agitated. The Omniverse seems to need a Balance, as they keep popping up, but then they all fade again. To claim that one had lasted this long is a cruel tug at Ancient's hope.

"I am Balance, and I can explain my absence, as well as my grievance," Alloy stands firm, brave in Ancient's anger with support from the others, "Fate interfered with my Multiverse well beyond her right, and then stifled my influence for centuries."

Many of the young Deities gasp or let out a squeak on shock. Not only does this Monster claim to be Balance and risk angering Ancient, but he challenges an Old One to stand trial. Judgment is rarely needed, but nothing like this has ever happened before.

"Than Judgment must be cast." It's Karma who speaks this time. "Should this Monster prove to be a Deity, and his claim true, Fate will face her karma."

"Wh-What?" Fate splutters as her face finally breaks, "You're taking this accusation seriously, your reverence? This lesser could never be one of us."

"Relax, my sister. The truth will be judged, and you will go unpunished.......... if what you say is true," Destiny says coyly, a knowing look in her eyes.
