Chapter Three

"Alloy was acting strange, very strange even for a dream, but I think that we can help bring him back," the Guardian of Positivity explains, standing up.

"How do we do it? Spill," Cross demands right away, partially because he knows Nightmare is about to snap out the same the question, and it's not good for Boss to strain himself.

"Error's soul is only a piece of Alloy. We have to find Ink's Spark, and my guess is that it's somewhere in the Doodle Sphere," Dream explains.

"And how do you ex-expect us to get there?" Nightmare rasps. Even weak, he's quick to point out his brother's shortsightedness. He's still a Guardian of Negativity, even if it's easier to feel the opposite now.

"I....... have not thought that far ahead," Dream looses a bit of his confidence. Now that he has his brother back, Dream wants to make up for all the conflict between them. Bringing back Alloy would be start. Dream also misses the young God. Seeing him in the dream scape has brought back Dream's hope.

"Fresh can't even gets us there," Cross tilts his head in thought. He pauses for a moment, thinking, and you can practically see the gears turning in his head. "Ink, Alloy, and Error aren't the only gods, though. There's a whole AU of them."

"You can't possibly mean those pricks!? They've never wanted any-anything to do with us, including that Reaper. I even offered him a home once," Nightmare huffs, remembering the dismissal the other Monster had given the idea.

Reaper is a Sans coming from an AU called Reapertale. Like Cross said, the AU is full of gods, but they're closer in strength to Dream and Nightmare rather than Ink or Error. Those Monsters have always been neutral in the war of Creation and Destruction. They keep to themselves. Reaper is one of the only gods to leave the world since his duty, like Dream's, has been extended all across the multiverse. Dream's only seen him a handful of times. Reaper wears a long black cloak with chains decorating his waist. He can summon a signature scythe as well has feathered wings of different sizes. He also tends to hover a bit off the ground.

"It's worth a shot, right? Now that you're doing better, Nightmare, I can't just sit here. Alloy is scared, and he reached out to us for help," Dream stands firm.

"I'll go get Alloy's brush. We have to try," Blue speaking up startles the others. He has been so uncharacteristically quiet that the others forgot he was standing in the doorway. Blue turns around a disappears to go get Broomie. It's not a summoned weapon, so Blue has also been keeping it in the room Cross had given to him. There's no doubt in Blue's mind that he's going on this mission, and the others know it.

"I guess we're doing this. Right. That's Blue, Dream, Cross, and I. That should be plenty for a trip to Reapertale," Nightmare nods.

"What do you mean I? You're not going, Boss."

"Like hell I'm not!"

"Alright. If you can get up and walk out of this room, I won't stop you."

"Fine!"

     "Fine."

Dream cringes. Nightmare really is in no condition to move, and Cross knows it. The half-goop encrusted skeleton knows it too, but he still pulls back the covers and swings his legs over the side of them bad. Even that makes Nightmare's head spin. One of his tentacles instinctively grip the bed headboard for balance. Nightmare lets out a growl at his own weakness. He forces himself to stand. As soon as Nightmare's off the bead, his legs buckle. Cross lunges forwards to catch him as Dream lets out a squawk of alarm. Nightmare feels humiliated as he hangs from Cross shoulder's. He's not suppose to be this weak. Nightmare says nothing as his second sets him back on the bed.

"I'm going to go tell Dust that you're awake, and that I'm heading to Reapertale with Blue and Dream. I'll have Horror make you some food. Killer can show you how to take the medicine Sci prescribed," Cross says this while turning around and heading out of the room. Nightmare says nothing to him. After a moment of silence, Dream slowly sits down on the bed next to his brother. Nightmare glances up before looking away again.

"I....... I was really scared for you, Nightmare. You were unconscious for a really long time. I'm glad you're getting better, but I hope that you take it easy for a while." Dream rests his hands nervously in his lap. It's been a long time since the two have had a meaningful conversation. They usually end with someone's face in the dirt.

"I'm not fragile," Nightmare grumbles, tentacles twitching in agitation.

"I know," Dream answers.

Nightmare doesn't miss his brother's complete sincerity. Hesitantly, he reaches over and takes Dream's hand, entwining their fingers. Dream says nothing, but gives the other's hand a comforting squeeze.

"Make sure to bring that idiot back, okay? I still need to whoop his ass for disappearing," Nightmare smiles a little.

"That's the plan. We'll get Alloy back, I promise," Dream says.

He eventually gets up and heads downstairs to find the others. Cross is in the kitchen talking to Dust and Horror like he had said he would. Blue is also waiting with Alloy's soul still bundled up in his arms. Broomie is hanging sideways on his back. It's a little too long on him, but Blue doesn't seem to mind. Dream quickly opens up a portal to Reapertale once they're both ready. He didn't have any specific destination in mind since he's never been to Reapertale, so they end up coming out into a forest. It's quiet and peaceful here, the beautiful scenery surrounding them.

"Where are we?" Blue asks, looking around at all the plants and small animals. He doesn't get to see much wildlife since he lives underground in a winter landscape.

"I'm not sure. I've never been to this AU before, so I have no idea where Reaper or the other gods hang out," Dream shrugs.

"You can sense emotion, right? Do you sense anyone nearby?" Cross asks.

Dream blinks. "Oh, yeah. That is a thing I can do." Cross facepalms. Dream looks around for a moment, focusing on his aura and spreading it further out to see what emotions it can touch. It's an easy trick both he and Nightmare can use to find other Monsters. For Dream, positive emotions are easier to locate, and he quickly senses something. "Alright, I think I found someone. Follow me."

Dream leads the way with Cross and Blue behind and to either side of him. This forest has no discernible path, so the three duck and weave through the brush. It's actually quite beautiful. A pang of homesickness hits Dream hard from nowhere. His home AU was once beautiful like this. Now all it's good for is hosting those depressing meetings that eventually overpower his own aura. Thankfully, there hasn't been one of those in a long while. Things are certainly changing. With Nightmare regaining his strength, everything feels like it might finally be okay if they can bring Alloy back. Dream has never known a time where the Multiverse has been at peace. Ink and Error always fought one another.

The group slowly makes there way through the trees. After a time of walking, the forest is abruptly cut off by a large iron gate. Flowering vines grow up the sides. Beyond the fence appears to be some sort of large garden with plant beds of all kinds.

"Whoever I'm sensing must be in the garden. I hope they don't mind our intrusion too much," Dream winces.

"This gate certainly seems sturdy enough to keep people out," Cross shrugs.

Unceremoniously, the three teleport the few feet it takes to get inside. Almost immediately, a fireball is hurled towers their faces. Blue squeaks and dives out of the way with Alloy's soul bundled up in his outstretched arms. Dream freezes, but Cross ends up shoving him aside and drawing his large knife to block the attack.

"Reaper! How dare you not finish our-" their attacker abruptly cuts herself off when she gets a good look at them. Rather than being angry, she had been calling out to Reaper in a teasing and joking manor. The lady goat monster is tall and thin, clothed in a simple yet elegant dress that ends just above the ground. The fireball splutters put. "Oh my! Forgive me, I had mistaken you for a dear friend. You four- er- three are from the Multiverse, yes?" She strides forwards and gently helps Dream to his feet. Cross eyes her warily after the attack.

"No need to apologize Miss alternate Queen Toriel! We failed to announce our visit." Blue hops back up to his feet. He doesn't meet other versions of his Queen often.

"We've just come to see if Reaper is in. We need his help," Cross cuts right to the chase. Life, as this Toriel is called, is acting friendlier than he expected.

"I see. Unfortunately, Reaper has not returned home since our game of chess last night. He is a sore loser, and stormed off after he realized he was going to loose," Life chuckles, raising a hand to her mouth, "But is there something I could help you with? Or perhaps I could send you to one of the others?"

Dream hesitates on answering. Yes, the whole Multiverse knows about Alloy now, but very few know what's happened to him. Error 404 ripped the young god apart. Ink and Error have always been seen as invincible. That image is ruined for Alloy. He can be taken down just like any of the rest of them. He might not even be able to reform like the other two without outside help. Blue is not so hesitant with the information. He trusts every Toriel out there to be just as kind as his own.

"Miss Toriel? Have you heard about Alloy, the God of Balance?" Blue asks hopefully.

"Reaper did mention a new god in the Multiverse. From the little I know, he's replaced the gods of Creation and Destruction, yes?" Life doesn't much care for matters outside her own AU, but it is good to hear that there might not be quite so much bloodshed.

"He was killed a little while ago." Blue the pulls down past of the blanket in his arms, revealing a multi-colored Monster soul pulsing softly in its protector's care.
