Ch 15: Unexpected Guests

Today is going to be the best day ever. Teri thought as she put on her white dress. She has been watching Dancing With the Stars for months with mommy and tonight she was going to put her skills to the test.

She was a little annoyed when she saw her mom in a black dress. Mommy volunteered as a chaperone. Whatever that was. Which means she was coming to her big night.

At least mommy was kind enough to not match with her and Elli. Elli was wearing a white suit that mommy picked up for him.

"Teri, come here." Mommy called for her.

Teri ran over to her mother, who presented her with a little box. "A gift for me?' Teri asked with excitement.

"No." Monica answered. "It is an offering for Elliotes."

"Why?"

"Just give him the gift."

"Can I open it?"

Monica gave Teri a stern look. Teri took the box and ran over to Elliotes. He looked confused as always but took the box. To his and Teri's surprise, he pulled out a black tie that had a white unicorn on it with a rainbow mane.

Teri squealed in delight at the tie. She snatched it from Elliotes and held it up to the sky. "I wanna wear it."

"No," Monica said as she took the tie out of Teri's hands. "This is for Elliotes. That you were supposed to be giving him."

"I want to have it though."

Monica walked over and began to tie the tie around Elliotes neck. He stood as still as possible barely breathing, so he wouldn't mess up Monica's concentration. Elliotes was so focused on Monica that he didn't even feel Teri when she started to pull on his hand. He completely tuned out her little whines for attention.

He is yet to return the kindness that Monica has been showing him this whole time. "Monica, is there anything I can do for you to make you happy?"

Monica looked up into Elliotes' eyes at that moment. It was only then that she realized how close she was. How human-like his features were, that maybe there could be a possibility of a future. He seemed almost human to her.

Almost.

"We are going to be late!" Teri yelled, this time breaking both Monica's and Elliotes concentration.

The ride to the dance was a lot slower than Teri anticipated. She was truly upset when she was not the first person at the dance, and that the dance was in full effect.

When Teri walked up to the school she saw the entire male kindergarten class in a flag football game. She saw Zane pouting by the fence line. He did not want to be over on the football field. His entire mode changed when Elliotes screamed at him to score a touchdown.

Once inside the cafeteria, Monica gave Teri a quick kiss on the cheek before she tried to say goodbye.

"Wait Mommy, Elli needs one too."

Monica looked over at Elli who turned a bright red. Really, now you blush? Monica thought. We have been sharing a bed together for how long, and now you blush? Why are you suddenly blushing?

"No," Monica said as she walked away.

Teri looked at Elliotes and shrugged. The adult world was weird to her.

It was time to dance. Teri dragged Elli to the dance floor. He was quickly surrounded by the girls in his kindergarten class. Just like in the classroom, Elli led the girls in dancing. Dancing included jumping in a circle, twirling the girls around to show off their pretty dancers, and the most famous fist pumping.

With the girls in good hands, Monica took over the DJ role so Courtney could go check on her class outside.

"Can I make a request?" Chills crept up Monica's spine as the question came from Willard.

"How did you even get in here?"

"The door is basically opened for these events. The security here is depressing."

The glare that Willard received from Monica was lethal. There was one thing she knew though, she could be security all by herself.

"You never texted me back, you know. About Elliotes losing your daughter, no less."

"Fancy way to say kidnapped."

"Kidnapping is just a harsh word." Willard seemed annoyed when Monica didn't pay him any attention and continued her job DJing. "I wanted to thank you though. Because of you and your daughter, I was blessed with the power of a God." Willard said with a menacing laugh.

Monica kept her composure as she kept the music playing. Her lack of emotion angered Willard, causing him to grab a hold of her hand.

"You are playing a dangerous game with me." Monica threatened.

"Dangerous? Me?" Willard laughed out. "I'm not dangerous. Morpheus is."

Monica finally let out a reaction, and it was one of fear. She knew that name all too well. Morpheus, the evil brother. How would Willard know about Morpheus?

"Want to see the things nightmares are made of?" Willard whispered in her ear.

The DJ booth where Monica stood began to short circuit. Suddenly all of the lights were cut off in the cafeteria. The screams of the young kindergarten girls were now blended in with the cries of the young kindergarten boys who ran into the cafeteria for safety.

What caused their screams was far scarier than whatever Willard was trying to do to her.

Towering over the young children was a man with black angel wings stretched to the fullest extent. The man walked through the screaming children. A few brave dads tried challenging the unknown being by grabbing his arms. They were quickly thrown across the room.

Monica locked eyes with the guy across the room. The intensity behind his stare caused her to tremble in fear. There was no mistake, this was Morpheus the God of Nightmares.

Morpheus flew towards Monica in an attempt to grab her. In a blink of an eye, Elliotes flew into Morpheus and both brothers flew into a nearby wall.

"Mommy, help!" Monica heard Teri scream during the chaos.

Monica looked towards the scream to see Teri being carried away by Willard. As Willard left the cafeteria he pulled the fire alarm causing the lights to flash and the sprinklers to come on overhead.

"Elliotes!" Monica yelled.

Unfortunately for Monica, Elliotes was staring down the wrath of Morpheus.

"You got something I want brother?" Morpheus said.

"What's that?"

"The ability to stop time."
