#4 'Berry Bad Time
Blue won't stop pacing. His feet make no sound on the ground, and he finds himself muttering nonsense just to prove that sound still exists. Everything around him is a black void. Maybe this is the void. There's no other feature but the blackness.
His mind is still reeling with shock, worry, and confusion. His little Blueprint ran into a full scale battle. He could have been killed, and nearly was! Blue can only stress himself even further over what Blueprint thought was so important. Then there was Alloy. Blue is thankful for what he did, but where the hell did Alloy come from!? There was an ominous tear in the sky, and along with Alloy's strange looks, Blue has a hard time convincing himself that Alloy isn't an outcode. Was he created very recently? Where did he send Blue? Alloy mentioned something about sending everyone to their own AUs, but his place isn't Underswap.
Blue doesn't belong there, anyway.
*****************************
Sans was once blissfully unaware of the Multiverse, and he thought he was happy, though much of that was was the AU's code at work. Sans never questioned where his brother so often disappeared to. He just assumed Papyrus was lazing about somewhere and hiding from responsibilities.
This peaceful existence changed completely when Sans discovered a horribly injured skeleton laying in the snow near the ruins. He was covered in wounds both old and new. The skeleton was black-boned with what looked like computer errors distorting his body. Sans could never leave a monster in need to fend for themselves. Despite his size, Sans hoisted the much larger Error onto his back and brought him home. Papyrus had once again mysteriously disappeared.
Error woke up to the haunting feeling of magic being used on himself. He freaks out and slams his skull into whoever was above him, making the both fall back. Error has been hurt and attacked so many times that his body registers any magic as a threat. He's forced to ignore attacker, leaning over the couch and violently throwing up the healing magic that had been used on him. This makes Sans freak out as well.
The Destroyer of Worlds was terrified by Sans, and that he might call Ink. This all changed when Sans revealed that he knew nothing about the Multiverse at all. Sans didn't know who Error was. Error has never had a chance to introduce himself before his reputation got around. It was nice. Error flinched every time that he was touched, but Sans diligently bandaged any wound to the best of his ability. The two ended up talking and chatting for hours. Error enjoyed talking to this little skeleton who was so full of questions. He didn't see why Sans shouldn't know about the Multiverse, so Error answered any questions to the best of his ability. The glitch was so very lonely, after all. This is the nicest conversation he's had in years.
Sans wasn't ignorant of the struggles all around him anymore. He learned about Ink the Creator and the AUs he made, good and bad. Error even mentioned his own role vaguely. He was scared that Sans would be scared of him. Sans didn't seem to mind. He may have always been childish, but not stupid. The gears in his head were finally able to work for themselves now that he knew about the Multiverse. The AU didn't hold him as tightly. Error didn't explain the balance between creation and destruction directly, but Sans had a hunch. Error does not seem like a guy to kill thoughtlessly.
Papyrus came home to the Destroyer of Worlds sitting in his living room. Sans had tried to force feed Error, but he was having none of it. Error doesn't remember the last time he ate. Papyrus walked in on Error holding Sans back using his strings. Papyrus knew who this dark-boned skeleton was with just a glance. Ink has told every AU that Error is insane and dangerous. Papyrus wasted no time before attacking. A bone strikes Error deep in the shoulder before he notices the intruder. He screams and glitches badly. Error had felt safe for once and let his guard down. That was a mistake. Error raises a hand and summons a Gaster Blaster.
Sans jumps up in between them and actually grabs onto Error's sleeve, tying to get them both to calm down and talk this out. With the sudden attack and his dislike of touch, it only freaks Error out more. He doesn't bother fighting and instead opens up a portal to the Anti-Void. Blue was still tangled in his strings and gets dragged right along with him. Error promptly crashes at the sight of someone else in his Anti-Void. The rest is history.
After befriending Error, the small Monster was forever changed. Blue was no longer bound so tightly to his world after being outside of it. He began to grow and learn. The Multiverse wasn't always sunshine and rainbows, but everyone has a reason for what they do. Blue learned all this as he met Sanses from less fortunate AUs, like Red from Underfell. Papyrus didn't like how Blue was changing. What happened to his sweet brother? He became more controlling and oppressive towards Blue, which ultimately pushed him further away.
During this time, there were only two 'Star Sanses'. Ink and Dream worked hard to keep the AUs safe. They were the only knows Sanses to be able to shift their eye lights into stars. It's thought to be a sign of strength and goodness. Blue's eyes were both huge stars when his Papyrus, Stretch, finally agreed to take Blue to a council meeting. He was so excited to meet more people from different worlds. Ink immediately took a liking to him. Blue knew who Ink was already. This didn't stop him from trying to learn the Creator's side of the story. Stretch actually approved of Blue hanging around Dream and Ink, who are the biggest heroes in the Multiverse.
Years passed by. Years of council meetings and plans and fake battles where Blue would pull his blows against Error or the Dark Sanses. Ink is soulless, but that shouldn't stop him from understanding the balance. Frustratingly, Blue would get brushed off every time he tried explain. He was getting sick of planning Error's death.
Something more was also beginning to happen. Blue had been visiting the Dark Sanses in Nightmare's mansion more and more. They were all a little sadistic, and some of that rubbed off on Blue, sure, but it also worked the other way around. None of them had ever had someone so good in their lives. Even Nightmare calmed and started treating his boys with more respect. He and Error grew closer as a result. One of them in particular found himself following Blue around like a lost puppy. Dust found himself happy for once when the smaller was around.
One day, Blue was patiently waiting for Error to return to the Anti-Void. He had learned to teleport after much training and practice. Many doubted he ever would reach that power level. They still don't know he has. The sound of a portal opening startles him and makes Blue spin around with a smile, but it falters. That isn't Error. The skeleton's entire body glitches wildly and painfully. It's worse than Blue's ever seen on Error. They're dressed in white with a red scarf. What's most concerning is that one of his eyes look like it's melting. He has no eye lights, but one is filled in with red and the other is filled with blue.
"Are you okay!? Can I help you?" Blue is quick to worry and offer assistance, but he stays standing at a distance.
"G-g
Per?
oth?
rea"
His voice is so distorted that Blue can't even make it out. He's still trying to understand when Fatal Error lunges. He tackles Blue straight to the ground. Blue summons a sharp bone to try and defend himself, but that's when Fatal grabs a handful of his codes and rips. Blue cries out in shock and falls limp.
Fatal is slammed off of him so fast that he goes flying. Error growls, voice full of venom, and regains his balance to stand over Blue. Fatal screams in rage. He wants nothing more than to tear Error to pieces, but he's caring a precious bundle of code. He makes a portal. Error rushes forward to try and stop him, but Fatal quickly disappears. Error stares in outrage. Fatal walked into his home and attacked his friend. He only turns back when he hears a whimper. Blue is still on the ground, limp with small glitches appearing just above his body.
The Destroyer completely loses it and sprints back over before kneeling beside Blue. Error can't create code. He can delete pieces and stitch others together, but he can't bring it back. Error tries to fix the shredded edges as best he can before teleporting Blue off to Ink's bass. Ink was horrified to see him so hurt. The problem is that the Creator can't see code. He can't fix the little bits of Blue that he can't see are missing.
The original UnderSwap had a hard forced reset. Stretch woke up in bed when a small Sans banged open his door, yelling and complaining about dirty socks in the living room. Stretch tenses. That's not his brother.
Blue had become and outcode.
*****************
The small Sans shivers and shakes his head, trying not to dwell on the memories. A black glitch flickers on the side of his skull before dissipating just as quickly. The damage is done. Blue still has moments where he's not quite....... himself. A portal opens. Blue whips his head up in surprise.
"SAVE SREEEEEEEEN!!!!!!" Alloy shrieks as he plummets out of the sky. He slams into Blue, and they both go tumbling into another portal. They both fall into the living room of Nightmare's living room, Alloy still on top of Blue. "I searched four times before I realized where you were, Blue! I can't believe you were in the save screen, of all places! There's even another-"
Blue pulls his leg in and slams his foot below Alloy's ribs, right against his spine. Alloy gags and easily goes when Blue flips them over and grabs Alloy's neck. He summons a bone in his free hand and raises it up. Blue's eyes are covered in the glitching black squares that cloud his sight and his mind.
"Blue!" Dust grabs his arm before he can swing, "It's fine! You're fine. Everything is okay." Blue allows himself to be pulled up as he recognizes Dust's voice, becoming calmer as Dust continues to talk to him in a softer voice. Alloy coughs and gags for a bit while looking up in shock. He forgot that this isn't his world again. This isn't his Blue. Things are different here.
Blue eventually calms down enough to actually take in his surroundings. He squeezes Dust's hand. They both look down when their kids sidle closer. Blueprint holds Powder in his arms and looks worriedly up at his mother. Blue picks up Powder and pulls Print against his legs. "Why does Powder......?" Blue trails off and fingers the glowing green strings.
"Listen to his breathing," Dust says, laying his head on Blue's, "Alloy said he could help." Powder's breathing is still rough, but he's sleeping peacefully for the first time in what seems like months. Blue looks up, realizing with a start what the mysterious Monster has done.
"Thank you........"
Alloy just nods.
