Chapter Three

"WRONG WAY!" Nami screamed at Roronoa Zoro who was walking in the opposite direction she told him to. She groaned and put her hands on her hips. "Zoro, how are you this bad with directions? I pointed you in the right direction!"

"Shut it, witch!" Zoro grumbled, walking back toward her and Nico Robin. He scowled and looked around. "This entire area looks the same as everything else! It's too damn dark to properly see anything, either!" His scowl deepened and he rested a hand on his swords for comfort. At least he had his weapons to defend himself.

Nico Robin let her eyes adjust to the dimly lit forest. The plants glowed different colors and the rocks had glowing gems embedded in them. "Even back in Ohara, I don't recall ever reading about someplace like this." She put a hand on her chin in thought. "Maybe this place has to do with the Void Century, but if it does, why are we here?"

"Where even is here?" Nami complained. "We're separated from the crew on an island I can't navigate away from because my compasses are going crazy. Even the Log Pose is acting up," she frowned. She lamented over the fact she couldn't take the jewels from the rocks.

"Doesn't matter," Zoro grunted, cutting a path through some of the denser foliage. "We need to regroup with the crew. I don't care what this place is. Luffy is going to need our help. Whoever sent us here must be powerful. We aren't in a good enough position to start another hard fight after Kaido."

Nami frowned and Robin looked disappointed. "As much as I would like to stay here and do some research, you are right, Zoro," Robin sighed in disappointment, casting a few glances at the glowing fauna and rocks. Nami huffed and gripped her Clima-Tact. She followed Zoro, woefully lamenting not being able to collect the jewels.

Zoro hacked a path through the dense vines and brush so Robin and Nami wouldn't get too scratched up from all the thorns and branches. He stayed alert and each time Nami hit him over the head for going the wrong way, he wanted to strangle the witch. It was not his fault the path kept moving.

"Hit me one more time," Zoro spat at Nami, warning her with a harsh glare. He didn't understand why Nami looked so terrified. Zoro didn't hear the way his voice had distorted or the way his eye glowed for a moment. "What? Why are you so scared? Is there something behind me?" Zoro looked behind him and saw nothing dangerous.

"Umm, Zoro?" Nami gulped, hand shaking slightly.

Robin kept calm. "Nami, it's okay," she soothed Nami. "Now is not the time to panic. We should see if anyone else is on this island. Maybe they can help us, and him." She looked at Zoro with worry.

Zoro scowled, turning to start hacking the path a little more. "What's the damn problem?" he muttered to himself, confused as to why Robin changed the subject so quickly. Shaking his head, he focused himself on the mission at hand. Search the island for any inhabitants or people to get help from. The trio traversed through the island, and Robin stopped a few times to observe the plant life. The woodland animals chittered as they ran through the trees and brush. Their beady eyes cast a soft glow.

"Have you noticed how everything glows here?" Nami spoke up after a long while of silence. She rubbed her arms, shivering slightly. "It's kinda creepy in a beautiful way." She shuddered at the thought of seeing bug eyes glowing. Thankfully, the bugs didn't glow. If they did, Nami would have been screaming non-stop and lighting the woods on fire.

"I think it gives this place character," Robin smiled appreciatively, giggling to herself as she watched two squirrels chase each other up and down the trees. "It's unique and beautiful, but I can see how some people would find it creepy. Something does feel off about this place." She glanced up at the starry clouds. "I believe it might have something to do with whatever put this cloud over the island. From the outside it looks daunting and horrifying, but on the inside it looks like a swirling galaxy."

"Clearly someone tried to do something bad and someone else turned that bad out for good," Zoro grunted, sheathing Wado Ichimonji as he cut through to a naturally made trail. He could vaguely see cobblestone covered by the grass. "Found a trail. Maybe it leads somewhere."

Zoro stepped to the side so Nami and Robin could get to the trail. "Left or right?" Robin asked Nami, turning her head to look at the Straw Hat Navigator. Nami tapped her chin and looked down in each direction. Both ways were dark and dim, but Nami could see a faint light in the distance down the right path. "Right," Nami determined with a hesitant smirk. "I can see something down there, and doesn't the saying go look towards the light?"

"Indeed," Robin nodded, walking down the right path. She stayed alert, keeping an eye on her surroundings for any surprise attacks. "We need to stay observant. The light could be a trap where we are ambushed and die a horrible death and no one would ever find our bodies." Robin smiled.

"ROBIN!" Nami shrieked and Zoro laughed. "This is not the time for your dark humor!" the orange haired navigator shouted at her crewmate. Nami hated it when Robin made dark, gorey jokes, but she really hated it right now when they were in such a beautifully creepy place. Robin's soft laugh echoed out.

"Shut it, Witch," Zoro playfully rolled his eyes. "Let's keep moving," he grumbled, hand on his swords in case he needed to fight. He had tried to use Armament Haki on Wado Ichimonji while he was hacking up the brush, but nothing had happened. He couldn't use his Haki in this place which was strange. Mihawk never told him that Haki wouldn't work in some places. Did the master swordsman even know Haki could be blocked?

The trio walked down the overgrown cobblestone path for a mile or so before they stopped at a marble temple. The temple was pure marble that had an open porch and columns holding up the roof of the temple that shaped upward, meeting together to make a diamond point. The door was broken down and kicked open. Robin, Nami, and Zoro could see straight through the temple to the large lake that sat in the middle of the island.

"A temple?" Nami blinked in surprise.

"Interesting," Robin looked in awe, eyes wide with wonder. She walked toward the temple, running her hand along the marble, feeling the engravings. "So much history," she murmured. "Zoro, I don't believe we can leave just yet. We may have just discovered something truly incredible." Robin didn't bother to look back at Zoro and Nami as she stepped into the old temple.

"Uhh, should you be going in there?" Nami gulped, eyes wide. "Who knows what could be lurking in there! We don't want another Uta incident," she muttered to herself, thinking about the Demon King Tot Musica. "Robin!" Nami shouted, running into the temple after Robin.

Zoro rolled his eye and walked into the temple, not caring about the history. He wanted to get back to the Sunny and sleep, but he couldn't leave Robin and Nami alone. He knew they could take care of themselves. Zoro just wanted to keep them as safe as he could because he promised Luffy. "This is it?" he scoffed, looking at the empty temple. "There is nothing here."

Robin couldn't help but roll her eyes and laugh at Zoro. "There may be nothing physical, but there is so much to learn," she whispered in awe, running her hand across the engravings and pictures. "So much hidden knowledge, and I want to learn it all!"

"Knowledge is power. Ignorance is Bliss. Be careful what you wish for."
