On the same day Kazama had took Lenka on a mission to 'test the waters'.....

A certain brunette had just finished his medical check up.

"I'm sending you into battle right now,
but I'll be accompanying you in this mission."

Yuu Kannagi couldn't believe his ears. A mission? Already? It's not that Yuu complains about it, he just thinks it's too sudden as of now.

"Well look at the time! We're gonna head out. Kannagi, was it?" Lindow gave a toothy smile to the light haired rookie.

"Y.. Yes sir!" Yuu stammered slightly, the confusion was evident on his face.

"Pfft.. alright. Let's go kick some ass."

"Phew~ This place seemed to have seen better days." Lindow smiled nostalgically, looking at Yuu who was getting himself familiarized with the surroundings.

"Hey, Rookie. We're gonna start the simulation now." Lindow glanced at the tensed male.

Lindow's grin contorted into a more serious stare.

"You got 3 orders."

"Don't Die. If your number's up. Get out."

"lastly, hide"

Yuu could only be more confused, This is not truly what he had expected.

"if you're lucky, Catch the enemy off guard, and blast it."

A sudden hit of realization slapped Lindow. "Wait, Is that 4?"

'Way to break the atmosphere...' Yuu sweatdropped, but he silently thanked this eccentric veteran for the advice, and for lightening up the mood.

"The bottom line is, You've got to survive. Just follow that order, and everything else would be fine."

The light haired teen nodded, and when he placed some thought on his words, they truly made sense. A god eater is a true goner when he's dead.

A chuckle erupted from the raven haired veteran's throat. "Alright. let's get this show on the road!"

A lone ogretail feasted on the remains of a refrigerator as Lindow and Yuu stealthily spied on it.

However the refrigerator got there was a mystery.

'Alright... Calm down, Yuu. It's just an aragami.. it's just an aragami—'

Tension built up in his muscles as adrenaline jolted in him, reminding the light haired teen that he is currently alive, and he needs to show that ogretail who's boss, otherwise, it'll gobble them up whole.

And without fail, Yuu Kannagi released a war cry before all hell broke loose.

"Oh boy, that kid seems to be hot blooded." Lindow scratched his head, greatly shocked with the light haired boy's hot bloodedness.

"Graaah!"

Lindow slightly winced as he saw Yuu being flung back by the ogretail. 'That's gotta hurt.' he thought. Boy needs to work on his dodging skills, and not relying on pure brawn.

A certain glamour-obsessed captain often reminded him: 'Use your head too. Not just your muscle.'

Lindow sighed inwardly as he remembered the events that had transpired before.

He worries about that moron after all.

Lindow looked at Yuu who was heavily panting from exhaustion.

Roughly 25 minutes passed ever since Yuu had faced that ogretail.

"Good job, rookie!" Lindow grinned at the rookie who was sprawled on the ground, visibly exhausted from his trial.

"You need to work on the 'not rushing like a madman' survival rule." Lindow chuckled as he crouched in beside Yuu. "U.. Understood.. Captain." Yuu grunted, struggling to get the words out of his mouth.

"Now this is all settled, wanna watch a good show before returning to the base?" Lindow's grin grew wider, Yuu didn't fail to notice the mischievous gleam on his eyes.

"No worries, this is purely for educational reasons." A soft laugh erupted from Lindow's throat as he beckoned for Yuu to follow him, to which the young man complied to, and as he followed his veteran captain, the faint sounds of battle could be heard, getting louder and louder as they neared their destination.

"Utsugi-kun, to your left!"

What Yuu Kannagi saw was a young man, shimmering under the sunlight, what struck him as such is the young man's appearance.

'...I..isn't.. this guy too.. princely for a battle?..' Kannagi Yuu thought, his eyes focused on the chestnut-haired god eater that was doing backflips as he peppered the ogretail's side with bullets to create a diversion,

"Well, aren't you starstruck?" Lindon sniggered, staring at at the battle as well. "That man that is too sparkly to be a god eater, his name is Kazama. That kid's about your age. And he's actually a veteran." Lindow explained, looking at the young man. "Despite not looking like it." Lindow snickered as he and Yuu turned their heads back to the other duo.

"Kazama-san!" The young man with gravity defying hair yelled as his head whipped back, an ogretail was behind the veteran, threatening to smash the princely veteran into little pieces.

A gunshot rang out.

and there was only dead silence.

A smile decorated Kazama's lips as he sauntered over to his new teammate.

"Let's go home, Utsugi-kun."

Yuu was even more quiet as he and Lindow approached their vehicle, the thoughts of Kazama and Lindow's skills, and expertise on the field plaguing him. Worse, the young man saw how much in sync the two were, despite being newly assigned to each other.

It only made him see how wide the gap is between rookies and veterans

"You seem to be in deep thought. Are you're in love with Kazama?" Lindow guffawed, trying to lighten up the mood as Yuu Kannagi sputtered in disbelief. "No!" the light haired man frowned. "Hahahahahaah— your face was gold! I was kidding. Geez." Lindow continued to guffaw as Yuu facepalmed.

Are all veterans really this eccentric?!

"Utsugi Lenka, right?" Yuu Kannagi sat in front of Lenka, who had just finished with a training simulation.

"Yeah." Lenka nodded monotonously, Who was this guy?

"I'm Yuu Kannagi, a rookie just like you." Yuu nodded back.

If only Kazama was here, he'd faint from fright from how much these two get along well.

"Hey there, Yuu! Who's this?" Kota Fujiki stared at the two monotonous males, who seem to be oddly getting along with each other despite the tense silence.

"Lenka Utsugi." Lenka nodded at Kota who awkwardly smiled back. "The name's Kota Fujiki. I'm from the first unit! How about you?" Kota's cheerful greeted back. "Ah.. um.. I'm in.. Captain Kazama's unit." Lenka awkwardly scratched his nape. Kazama never mentioned a name for their unit.

"Oh. I see! I heard that your captain's really good friends with our captain!" Kota grinned.

"I've heard so too. Utsugi-kun. Do you like training?" Yuu crossed his hands as he seriously stared at the monotonous lotus.

Kota could only stare in confusion as the dark blue haired man looked back at Yuu as if he had just found his long lost brother.

W.. Wait, Yuu, Lenka, what is this?!

It seems that Lenka had found some new friends.
