Understanding
In the aftermath of their successful attack, the demonic eye lays dead on the floor as the group glances at the giant mirror on the wall. They question on the size of the mirror on the wall. A truly ancient artifact of old, one that came to realize that the Goblins were using this sacred portal, to attack the Frontier.
Dwarf: So this is what they used in the past to travel? Fascinating.
Priestess: If the Goblins were using the portal, then why the creature is here?
Lizardman: The creature is most likely use to guard this portal, should anyone enter its chambers.
Slayer: Hmm...
Firebreak head back to group to warn them, "Sorry to interrupt, but we have Goblin problem". Soon after they heard the screams and laughter of the Goblin horde.
Firebreak: Our entrance to this chamber wasn't subtle.
Priestess: What should we do?
Slayer: Build defenses and gather whatever supplies and spells we have left.
Firebreak and Lizardman began to deconstruct the benches into temporary walls and places them infront of the entrance. Meanwhile, the girls and Dwarf are preparing the worst to come. Slayer did tell Priestess that she need to be used later, since she only have one miracle left. That same goes to Dwarf.
Elf looks to her arrow supplies with Slayer coming to check on her. Elf assures her that everything is going me on her end and sarcastically advised Slayer, "Try not to get killed like last time", "I won't".
Firebreak: Defenses are finished.
Lizardman: Indeed.
Slayer: Good. [Look to Lizardman] Remove that Mirror. We'll need it for later.
Lizardman: Very well.
Slayer: You okay.
Firebreak: [Cocks gun] I've been through worse.
Slayer: Good. Everyone into positions!
While everyone went to their positions, Slayer notices Firebreak is checking his bag on something. It's another canister.
Slayer: Another Reactor Core?
Firebreak: Somewhat. It's for later.
Slayer: I see.
In a defensive stance, everyone position themselves behind the barriers and not inform of the door. They waited and waited for the horse comes. The laughter of the Goblins came bashing through the defensive, while the Group stand their ground. Goblins came flooding through the doorway as the bodies began to stack up. Soon after, a couple of Goblins manages to pass through.
Slayer: Stay back! I'll deal with them.
Firebreak: Not on my watch.
The two jump over the barrier and attacked the Goblins head on. Meanwhile, Lizardman is trying to remove the Mirror on the wall. He summoned his Dragontooth warrior to aid the group in stalling to Goblins.
Firebreak burns every Goblins he come across, while occasionally throwing grenades to kill the ones from the door. Slayer slashes and cuts through the horde's numbers as the Goblins dwindle. Elf and Dwarf fire projectiles towards any Goblins flanking the two. A couple of Goblins arrows nearly hit Elf, but she is saved by the Dragontooth warrior.
Elf: Awe. Who's a good skeletal dragon?
Lizardman: I like the complement you gave to the Warrior, my friend.
More Goblins keep coming and coming until Elf has ran out of her arrows. Asking for more, Slayer grabbed one of the dead goblin's quiver and throws it back at Elf to continue firing arrows on the Goblins.
Priestess came to help Lizardman to removing the mirror, by jamming the sharp end of her staff to aid him in separating the Mirror.
Lizardman: Hmm... It seems as though this task would need some more strength.
Lizardman: O' old and strange brachiosaurus, grant me the strength of 10,000! Partial Dragon!
His muscles bulge with his miracle, granting him the strength needed to make any sort of progress. The huge mirror shifts as it is finally separated from the wall. For that moment, Lizardman and his Dragontooth warrior held onto the mirror, then notify Slayer of their success.
Slayer: Everyone get under the mirror.
At that moment, a recognizable roar, shook the entire chamber.
Firebreak: It's back.
The Champion burst through the door with it having it's big club. The Champion roars in hate, with the giant swinging mindlessly with its club. Fortunately for Slayer, she manages to slice off the Goblin's fingers, dropping the club all together. Running back, she told Priestess to make the <HOLY LIGHT> miracle. Upon blinding the Goblins, Slayer finally tells Dwarf to use <GROUND CONTROL> which resulted in the destruction of the entire chamber and death of all the Goblins.
The dust settles as the adventures emerges from the rubble of What's once the chamber that held the mirror, and where the Goblins use to invade the Frontier.
Slayer: Is everyone alright?
Firebreak: Still breathing.
Priestess: We're alright.
Lizardman: I'm well, but it does have seem to have a lot of weight to it.
Slayer: If the Mirror can transport to the Green Moon, then all of the rubble that we may be under, will all be teleported to the moon.
Elf: And if this is under the town?
Slayer: I would've plan it differently. At least is not Fire, water, poison it explosion.
Meanwhile, Firebreak is arming a canister that is not too dissimilar to his Reactor Core. Luckily for him, when Slayer tumbles down the rubble, he instinctively catches her and the canister.
Firebreak: You alright?
Slayer: Yeah. What is that thing in your hand?
Firebreak: You saw it earlier. I want you to hold it.
Slayer: Why?
Firebreak: You'll see.
Slayer takes hold of the canister and Firebreak escorts her to the Mirror. After a couple of test, and getting answers from the Dwarf, Firebreak held out his axe and turns to Slayer.
Firebreak: Press the red button and throw the canister in. After that, I'll destroy the mirror.
Slayer: How?
Firebreak: Why do you think I have the axe for?
Slayer: I see.
Firebreak: Come. At least you can burn their home.
Slayer: I see.
Slayer presses the button and toss the canister into the mirror. Firebreak went down and began to deconstruct the gateway, till the mirror is shattered.
Priestess: So, what now?
Firebreak simply looked to the Green Moon, followed by the rest. A bright flash of orange and yellow brighten, with a quarter of the moon being engulf by its brightness. Slayer hugged Firebreak's arm as the two came close.
Priestess: What was that?
Firebreak: It's a nuclear weapon, like my Reactor Core, but... That is what happens if the Reactor Core ever ruptured.
Priestess: It doesn't seem that large.
Firebreak: If that were to happen to Water town, no one would've lived to tell the tale. Even then, they would no longer live in that area.
Elf: How?
Firebreak: In my world, we called it "radiation", but here you say...
Slayer:... It's poison.
Timeskip
In the garden of the holy Temple, the Sword-maiden stood as she too watched the Green Moon having a sudden bright glow. As she watches the setting unfold, there is a person watching her from behind: well, two to be exact.
Sword-maiden: Is your quest successful?
Firebreak: We're still breathing.
Slayer: All the Goblins have been exterminated.
Sword-maiden: Tell me, what did you find there?
Firebreak: A big mirror that led to the goblin's world.
Sword-maiden: What happened to it?
Slayer: We destroyed it, but we have manage to kill off some of the goblin population on their world.
Sword-maiden: Destroyed? But why?
Firebreak: If that portal ever to be constructed, Goblins would continue their attack.
Slayer: Since it's dangerous, we have to scatter the pieces, but the larger ones are laid at the bottom of the river.
Sword-maiden: I see.
Sword-maiden looked to the two and sigh, granted that if she could've find out, non of this mess would've happened.
Firebreak: About what happened... Did you know all of this?
Sword-maiden: So you figured.
Slayer: There weren't any rat slaying quest, or any sewer relating quest for Water town. Why?
Sword-maiden: [Stammers]
Firebreak: Because you knew of the Goblins below.
Sword-maiden: It's true. I fear that if there were, the Adventurers would be slaughtered.
Slayer: What about that giant monster? That can't be here for coincidence. Someone must've controlled it.
Firebreak: What do you have to say?
The Sword-maiden Stammers, she knew that they know too much. All she wanted is to show the dangers of the Goblins, but she can't risk her reputation. However, she must face it.
Sword-maiden: It's true. Every word that points me is true.
Firebreak: But why?
Sword-maiden: It's only a matter of time until... They'll plan a revenge on me.
Firebreak: What was it?
Sword-maiden: The Goblins, they were part of the Demon lord's army. I assume many forget, but some weren't ready to forget. The mirror, the goblin world... It's a plan. Who am I kidding? Me, the Sword-maiden, is sworn to protect a town by the Holy God.
Firebreak: But, you can't see it. You were blinded by your occupation...
Slayer: That you used the Goblins to hide the town's bad side.
Sword-maiden: What will you do with me?
Firebreak: Nothing. Because I know how that felt. An old man once said: "We get dirty and the world stays clean". You tried your best, but in the end, you have to sacrifice something to ensure the betterment of the world.
The Sword-maiden falls to her knees and began to cry, realizing her mistake. She couldn't trust herself into defeating the Demon lord. She can't cope the fear of that the Goblins gave her. However, there was somebody comforting her. It took her a second to realized that Firebreak is hugging her. It's weird, but he knew that this could calm her down.
Firebreak: If there's any more Goblin problem... Send a card to us.
Sword-maiden: Thank you. May the God bless you, both of you, on you're journey.
The sun rises in the morning and the Adventurers rode a carriage back to the Town. Inside, many conversations take place.
Elf: Ahh! That's what I called a rest.
Dwarf: After being nearly torn to shreds by those goblins?
Elf: Please, at least we live to tell the tale.
Lizardman: I must agree, though it's a shame that Sir Firebreak must destroy the ancient portal to prevent more goblins coming.
Dwarf: *Sigh* No bother. I'm surprised that he manages to destroy the artifact with just an axe.
Elf: Don't be a fuss, besides we got a good pay after the ordeal.
Dwarf: I'm gonna use mine for a good meal.
Elf: Hmph! Typical.
Priestess chuckles at her fellow adventurers, knowing that one day they may know more of each other. She turns her head to Firebreak and Goblin Slayer, the latter resting her head on the pyromaniac's shoulder. A bump later, a piece of the canary's feather dropped from the cage. She took the feather and placed it on the helm of Goblin Slayer.
Priestess: Well, this day may have not been what we were expecting. But with you and Firebreak around we have made it. Good job Goblin Slayer.
By that point, Slayer slowly woke from her sleep, causing Priestess to jump in shock.
Priestess: You could've told me you were awake!
Slayer: Shhhh.
Slayer directed her gaze to the sleeping Firebreak, snoring under his mask, sleeping peacefully after the big fight at Water Town.
Priestess: Oh Sorry. I thought you were asleep.
Slayer: I was asleep.
Priestess: Well, how am I supposed to know, when you keep wearing your helmet?
Slayer: Oh.
Priestess: What are you going to do back home?
Slayer: I'll try to make something sweet.
Priestess: Like that ice treat we had from yesterday?
Lizardman: Do I hear "treats"? You wouldn't mind I'll join in with this "ice treat", would you?
Slayer: Sure.
Lizardman: What's it made off?
Slayer: Milk.
Lizardman: *Moans* Sweet nectar
The Lizardman ended up swinging his tail by the thought of "Nectar", causing the driver to look back and see what was happening. Fortunately, Priestess manage to ease the driver on the account that it was an accident. Surprisingly, the sound and the movement of the Carriage didn't wake up Firebreak, merely tilting him slightly.
Priestess: So how are you going to do it?
Slayer: By freezing it and mix it *Gesturing as a stir*
Dwarf: Well, if you want to make sure it's just right, I'll come to help as well.
That only leaves Elf, who is thinking on what her actions may be next. She is caught off guard, when Slayer called her.
Slayer: You want to some?
Elf: *Sigh* Fine. I'll join.
Slayer: If it's not okay, don't kick me again.
Elf: Alright Alright, just give me the Ice treat!
Slayer: Okay.
