Chapter 12

In the swamp they found a multitude of goblins, just as corpulent and jolly as Bobo, with a matriarch bigger than the rest of them. The entire goblin tribe cheered as the trio came carrying the dead body.

"I see why they didn't choose to run," whispered Bart to Topher, "they wouldn't have gotten far."

"How y'all doing?! Congratulations on saving my clan and the world. But, hell no! y'all smell like shit" Bobo commented.

"I mean, you live in a swamp Bobo, you're not one to judge" said Topher, to which all the goblins started laughing.

"Y'all have done a fine job" Bobo's Mamaw began "It's a shame this poor critter didn't survive, he went through a lot of hell. I hope he's in a better place" she said and motioned some of the goblins to take the body and to bury it honorably.

"In the meantime, thank y'all again for saving the world. The Prophecy is now complete, and y'all can all have your happy endings as promised. All of y'all will get two bags of gold each for your troubles, so you can live the lives you want. But we have a plan to stop another Mozgus from arising again, and that is to use this here swamp, to get fae and humans to get together and break the segregation of their worlds. There won't be anymore fae overpopulation so no more extremism, and with humans, there won't be anymore fear of the fae, so no more persecutions by the church. The human wars will sizzle out since Mozgus's funding will stop since he's dead, but even if it takes a while to stop at least the annihilation of the realm is no longer an issue. Bart, it would be in your best interest to work with us, it'll normalize your relationship with the witch Gwendolyn, and y'all can live happily ever after!" Bobo's Mamaw finished.

"Right, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, but it would be nice if you could let us go back to Forest's Edge where we can clean up and restart our lives, '' Bart requested.

"Understood," Bobo's Mamaw laughed, and she proceeded to give the trio, two bags of gold each. The swamp then opened up to a stream near Forest's Edge and our trio departed.

.............................................................................................................

And so we come to the end of our tale. After our trio had reasonably cleaned themselves in the stream, they made their way back to the home of Derik and Teresa, where the couple was overjoyed to see them, and they told them of all that they had been through. Eventually our trio would go their separate ways, while promising they would stay in contact, and be there for each other for the rest of their lives. Derik and Teresa, however, would continue to stay together and live out their blissful lives, quietly, at Forest's Edge.

Bart would go on to find Gwendolyn in the Forest where they would find Bobo's swamp and go live therein for their safety, living in blissful love. They would help in getting more and more humans and fae meet with each other, and thus after a period of years breaking the segregation, and normalizing their relationship. In the end, they married, and lived in a cottage, where Bart would stay loyal to Gwendolyn, while occasionally touring the realm and singing his music. In due time the happy couple would be graced with a beautiful baby girl, and Bart was a natural in being a doting father.

Topher used his gold to buy a house near that of Derik and Teresa's, so that he could catch up on the many years he had been away. He went on to buy a stable, and would rent out, buy and sell horses. Topher would joke that he went from cleaning horse shit to having others clean horse shit for him, so he knew he'd moved up in life. Topher would spend much of his free time with little Trevor, teaching him to ride horses, and generally being like a second father to him. From time to time Topher would satisfy his need for bloodlust by participating in blood sports in the arena, where he was the reigning champion for a year, not to mention, in order keep the balance of the realm from time to time, he would lead armies of smaller kingdoms against bigger ones to maintain the balance of power. Over time the kingdoms didn't see much of a point in fighting, because ever since the fae and human worlds were coming together no one really wanted to fight anymore, not to mention the funding for warmongering had gone away ever since Mozgus died.

And as for Will? Well, he is the narrator of this tale! I went back to the town of Simp where I bought the inn and proceeded to fire the entire staff because I was still bitter about being disrespected. I then hired a new staff, and now live in a luxury suite in the inn with the staff doing the work for me, so that all I do is read books, collect herbs, go visit new lands, and make investments. Retirement suits me well, and I meet with Bart and Topher every year on the anniversary of our saving the world at Forest's Edge, where we drink mead and catch up. They were the ones that suggested that I write this memoir so that our tale does not get lost to time. I hope you enjoyed reading this dear reader and remember: You are always strong enough to overcome your flaws, all it takes is for someone to believe in you, and for you to believe in yourself.

THE END
