The second half of auditions.
(Y/n) sighed, glaring at her bandaged foot. This was stupid. This whole payment thing was stupid. This plan was stupid.
So stupid, it could actually work.
"HEY, PUNK!" Undyne slapped her on the back. "Don't look so down. It really isn't that bad."
"Says you." (y/n) said scornfully, glaring at the former royal guard. "You're not the one who has to-"
"Undyne!" A brunette ran up to her, looking worried. "I need help! Again! Please?"
"This is the last time, Amiti." Undyne sighed, but she smiled. 'Amiti' grinned and turned away. Undyne started to tie her hair into a bun.
Amiti glanced in (y/n)'s direction. Upon seeing the confused look on her face, she laughed. "Undyne's probably the best hair stylist here. Gotta look good; maybe that Toby guy will give me a better score if my hair is flawless. I almost got cut last time because of his low scores."
Undyne looked embarrassed. "I practise styles on Mettaton. Alphys hangs with him alot." (y/n) giggled.
Once Undyne finished, Amiti thanked her and smiled at (y/n). "Amiti, Amiti Hayes."
"(Y/n) (l/n)." (y/n) responded. Rei's friends seemed nice, despite Rei herself being an ice queen. "Uh- good luck!"
"She doesn't need luck." Sans popped up out of nowhere. "She's really good."
"Ah! Hi, Sans. Thank you." The brunette smiled and slightly bowed. "I'm going to go work on my scissor leaps. I'm a little shaky on it. See you later, (y/n)?" (y/n) nodded in confirmation.
"I'll help you, Ami." Marcy called out, walking over. She was dressed in a pink, and had her hair in a braid. From across the room, Carlos was sneaking glances at her while stretching.
"Yup, later." Amiti walked off with Marcy right behind her. She was right; Undyne could be a hair stylist. Damn, that bun was tighter than-
"I'll go work on my pas de deux." Undyne sighed. "I keep forgetting that I'm the one supposed to get lifted up; you'd be surprised at how many times I've picked up my partner." Undyne waved and ran off to find herself a practise buddy.
"So, this plan is interesting." Sans said, looking slightly scared. (y/n) glared at him.
"You didn't say anything to try and stop them from making that deal!" She cried out. Sans flinched.
"U-uhm, it's only a small one." Sans whimpered, obviously afraid.
"Whatever." She sighed, rubbing her temple. "Let's just get this over with."
As the judges entered the room, Sans took a seat beside (y/n). "Papyrus is ready."
"So is Alphys!" Undyne ran over, smiling widely.
"So is Mettaton." (y/n) tucked a strand of her behind her ear.
"Let's start! We're already late!" Hinata Shouyou called. His bright orange hair ruffled as he bounced into the room. "Gomen! I was busy with helping Kageyama get the kids to school-"
"Be quiet, Hina!" Matsuoka scolded. He blushed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Anyway!" Madara coughed. "Shall we start, then? Hisoka Morow!"
Hisoka walked into the front, his hips swaying more than they should. Sans pretended to throw up, earning a laugh from (y/n) and an elbow in the ribcage from Undyne.
As usual, Hisoka's movements were full of energy, his facial expressions were powerful. However, his form was still rough.
"I feel sorry for him." Sans commented in a soft whisper. (y/n) raised an eyebrow at him and he laid his skull in her lap in response. "Those gold-diggers might've promised him fame and fortune, but his talent is going to dust."
"Oh! Sure, it must be sooo hard being a con!" Undyne whispered angrily. "While he goes out to Nightclubs, we're working our fins off!"
"Calm down, Undyne. We don't want to give anyone any spoilers, do we?" Sans snickered. (y/n) sighed and patted his skull.
Once Hisoka finished, the judges clapped politely.
And guess what? He passed. No surprise. So did all the other Beatles.
"Stupid bugs." Undyne grumbled.
-
As Amiti danced, Hisoka looked around for the familiar redhead. Anya punched his shoulder and pointed. "Oh."
Hisoka approached Marcy, looking nervous. "E-excuse me? You're Marcy Meyers, right?"
"That's me!" Marcy nodded, giving him the fakest of fake smiles. Hisoka sighed and wrung his hands.
"It's your mother. She has some bad news about your dad. She's... she's in the dressing room. 34."
"Oh no!" Marcy looked scared. "Is he okay?"
"Ask her! Come on, I'll follow you-" Marcy bolted out of the room.
"Hey! Wait up!" Soka yelled. Marcy peeked out from behind the wall.
"It sounded urgent, so I have to hurry!" Her lip trembled. She disappeared behind the turn once again.
Hisoka hurried to catch up. Once he spotted a red braid flowing into the dressing room, he ran over and slammed it shut, locking it from the outside. "Surprise! I'm not letting you out, not until it's too late for your audition~!" He threw his head back and laughed maniacally.
It was almost as if he was a villain from a certain anime, and not a normal teenage boy...
"No!" Marcy knocked loudly from inside the dressing room. "I'll show them the CCTV footage! You'll be cut from the competition!"
Weird. Hisoka thought. Her voice sounded a little different... does she have a cold..? Whatever, whatever! That's not important right now!
"I thought of that!" Hisoka called back. "This dressing room isn't monitored by the CCTVs; it's just a little out of sight! Perfect."
"If you say so..." Marcy sighed. A metallic footstep was heard from the dressing room. Hisoka flinched at the sound.
Probably nothing.
-
"Marcy Meyers!" Kou called out. (More like koulled out. Amirite? No? Okay.) "It's your turn!"
No response.
Toby, Madara and Rika exchanged grins. Perfect.
"Marcy Meyers! Please come up!" Kou called out, worried. "Marcy?"
"Oh no!" Amiti dabbed at the sweat on her forehead with a towel. "Marcy's going to miss her audition! Where is she?" Carlos glanced at the brunette.
"She'll be back." He said calmly. Amiti frowned; usually, Carlos'd be freaking out about her.
Across the room, Sans, (y/n) and Undyne looked unfazed. Amiti folded her arms at them and glared; something was definitely up. Weren't they a bit worried?
Something bad probably happened!
"If Marcy doesn't show up in five minutes, we'll have to cut her from the competition." Toby piped up. Rika gasped dramatically and placed a hand over her heart.
"Oh, no!" She cried.
"Fine." Nikiforov sighed. The Russian unrolled his sleeve slightly to reveal a sleek black watch. "A present from my boyfriend." He explained, before clearing his throat. "It is 3.46. If she's not back by 3.51, she's out."
"I'm going to go find her-" Amiti was cut off by the door slamming open.
"I'm here!" Marcy announced. Carlos sighed and smiled goofily.
"She knows how to make an appearance~" He giggled. A drop of sweat rolled down Amiti's forehead.
"You're hopeless." The brunette grumbled, wiping her glasses clean and putting them on.
Rika jumped out of her seat. Toby and Madara's eyes were wide.
"Sorry I'm late." Marcy said, staring right at Rika. "Hisoka needed something. You would know, don't you, Ms. Kim?"
Rika fell right back into her seat.
"Now then! It's 3.48. If there are no objections, Meyers, begin your audition." Nikiforov smiled.
As the first chords of the piano rang through the air, Marcy started to dance. She dedicated her steps to her friends, new and old- silently thanking them for helping her through the competition. Without their help, she'd be in a hospital with a broken foot right now, or at home crying because she got eliminated. As she leapt, she smiled brightly in Carlos' direction.
He almost fainted. Luckily, Amiti was there to punch him back to life.
Sans slipped his hand into (y/n)'s. When she didn't pull back, he gently pulled her to lay on his chest.
"Sans," came a muffled voice. Sans looked down at (y/n); her face was buried in his hoodie.
"Hmm?"
"You're a... cool dude." Sans felt something in his soul stir.
"I... I-I mean, you're a cool dude too." The short skeleton blushed blue, gently tracing (y/n)'s palm with his fingers. Human skin was weird; smooth, even if they were a bit scratched up from years of falling down onto the hard field.
(Y/n) peeked out from Sans' hoodie and smiled. He smiled back, still blue at how close they were.
"Get a room." Undyne 'whispered'. Sans scowled at her.
Once Marcy finished, the room was silent.
The silence lasted for only a second, before the room burst into applause.
Marcy scanned the room before her eyes landed on Sans. Seeing the position he was in, she winked, mouthing something along the lines of:
Break her heart, and I'll break your bones.
