The next morning, the group of eight were huddled outside the rehearsal room at La Scala.
"Today, we're practising the required steps. Which means we have to be present!" Papyrus said, fixing his bone-warmers. "No exceptions."
"Can I still come in?" (Y/n) asked, tucking a strand of (h/c) hair behind her ear. Carlos rubbed his hands together nervously.
"You can, just don't annoy anyone inside." Undyne replied. (Y/n) looked afraid, but quickly relaxed as the formal royal guard ruffled up her hair and gave her a big smile.
As they walked inside, they couldn't help but notice that the dancers looked nervous.
Rei waved but didn't join them. She was whispering to a brunette and another redhead. Sans managed to hear the brunette whisper, "Mika, you'll do just fine! So will you, Rei."
"You'll do great too, Amit-"
"Start your warm-up exercises!" Rika Kim, a judge from yesterday, screamed. Friendly.
(Y/n) joined them in front of the mirror, mimicking Sans' movements jokingly. His arms formed arcs in the air, and he stretched effortlessly.
Marcy was in the middle of the barre, and the dancers watched in awe as she moved. The girl had grace.
Then it was time to try figures. No, not Math. Relax. I know you still have unfinished homework, dear reader, so I'm sparing you.
The competitors took their positions, practising slow, sustained movements. As they progresssd, their steps became more complex- from small jumps and glissades to more difficult jumps.
The technival skill of the dancers were high, and soon, (y/n) was out of breath. "Damn," she grumbled, Sans watching her with a smirk on his face. "I'm never out of breath when on the playing field. You guys are tough!"
Marcy, on the other hand, was holding up beautifully. Her grace, agility and form were remarkable. She was undoubtedly the best at each sequence of moves. Soon, the dancers were watching with interest.
"She's amazing." Breathed Carlos, (y/n) patting his back for comfort. The arrogant young dancer was gone and replaced with a nervous wreck. Soka watched as the (h/c) girl comforted them.
Anya, Hisoka and Karin were glaring at Marcy from across the room. Karin huffed and looked away, straightening her hair in the mirror.
The dancers moved on to the last part of the rehearsal sesh; jumps and lifts. For this exercise, a ballerina did a few leaps until she reached a male partner, who would grab her by the waist and lift her. Then he would gently bring her to the floor.
Since there were more males than females, (y/n) was allowed to help one of them. Hisoka seemed pleased as he watched her wait for her turn. Sans frowned, irritation building up. "I don't like the way he's looking at her." He grumbled. Alphys, who was next to him, giggled softly.
"Oh, S-Sans." She smirked. "Sh-she'll be f-fine."
The girls started to line up in front of their partners. As (y/n) started to take her turn, Hisoka brushed past his fellow dancers.
(Y/n) performed another simple leap and found herself staring at him. The male took hold of her waist, lifted her into the air like a delicate treasure, and brought her back to the floor- heavily; like a block of concrete. "Ah!"
Soka lost his balance, and (y/n) slipped across the floor. "(Y/N)!" Sans screamed.
"(Y-y/n)? Hisoka asked, his fake frown turning into one of confusion.
Sans hurried to help her, but her ankle was already swollen. "You!" He glared at Hisoka, his right eye flaring blue.
"Oh! I'm very sorry." Hisoka said, batting his eyelashes, although he looked confused. Karin and Anya didn't look happy.
Sans raised an arm to lift him up with magic, but Papyrus gently put it down. Tears of pain streamed down (y/n)'s face.
"I think he did it on purpose!" Marcy growled, stomping over. She had just finished her jump, and she had (y/n) cradled in her arms in a second. Sans looked like he was ready to forcibly pull out Hisoka's manly bits. That is, if he even had any.
"Call the doctor!" Mr. Nikiforov announced. Mr. Katsuki, Nikiforov's boyfriend, looked horrified. "This rehearsal session is over!"
Once they were in a dressing room, Undyne slammed her fist into a wall. "That- that- bit-"
"U-Undyne..." Alphys mumbled. Undyne's expression softened.
"He definitely did it on purpose!" Sans said angrily, his eye flashing dangerously.
"Why would he, though?" Alphys asked. She was too concerned for the (h/c) haired girls' well-being to be shy. "Here, (y/n), lets get you to the hotel."
-
Back at the hotel, Hisoka was getting yelled at by Karin, Anya, and a cloaked figure.
"You useless potato!" Anya shouted. "You broke the wrong foot!"
"It was your fault!" Hisoka seethed. "You told me to break Marcy's foot, but you never told me who she was. You just said that she was the one that Kua guy always hangs out with! Before that, I saw him talking with that (h/c) girl. So it's your fault for not describing who Marcy actually was!"
"Now we'll be ruined!" Karin blubbered. "She's too good!"
"Shut up, all of you." The figure growled. "Hisoka, I know how you can fix your mistake."
Once the cloaked figure whispered harshly into their ears, the three dancers left. The figured huffed and pulled off their hat, wavy blonde hair tumbling out of it.
"That Hisoka can't do shit right." Rika Kim mumbled, fixing her hair and reapplying her lipgloss. "Hopefully he doesn't screw anything else up." With that, she gently replaced the hat and left.
Carlos, Undyne and Alphys emerged from behind a nearby wall, Chinese takeout in their hands. Undyne seethed with rage. "I'm going to rip her hair out and make a sweater for (y/n) with it-" the fish-lady began, smoke practically pouring out of her gills.
"No." Carlos said calmly. He glanced at Alphys, smirking as he could practically feel the gears in her head turning.
"I have a better idea."
