Chapter Fourteen

"We're sorry for showing up without an appointment." Mrs. So glanced over to her passive husband and silent daughter. Neither of them had uttered a single word since their arrival at Big Hit Entertainment. It was mainly because they didn't know what to say. Arang was seated in the middle. Her father was located to her left side and her mother to her right.

"Oh no, it's alright. I told Arang that my door would always be open for her." Director Wan smiled. "I'm glad to see you again." If only the girl was able to say the same thing.

"I don't know if you already know this, director, but we recently found out that our daughter is dating someone." Mrs. So began hesitantly. "I know you might be wondering why this should concern you but if that wasn't shocking enough for us, we also discovered that apparently her boyfriend is a singer under your label."

"Her boyfriend?" The woman repeated, stunned. Then she put the pieces together and the smile on her face broadened. "Ah that's right, her boyfriend." She nodded, her tone light and pleasant. "Our agency has already been notified of their relationship."

"I see so you were already aware. Although we're not the type of parents who would prohibit our children from dating whomever they like, we still have to think about what's best for them." Mrs. So continued.

"Of course." Director Wan agreed. She was beginning to love where this was all going. It looked like things were going to work out the way she wanted them to.

"However, I don't know if Arang dating an idol will be good for anybody." Mrs. So sighed. "Honestly, as a mother I think that it would be best if they ended their relationship." Those words perked Arang's interest almost immediately. Maybe she wasn't screwed after all!

"I understand how you feel but I assure you that our company will do our best to ensure that no harm comes to your daughter. As a mother, don't you want her to be happy? If dating our Taehyung makes her happy, who are we to stand in her way?" Director Wan reasoned politely. She didn't want to seem like she was telling Mrs. So how she should raise her children.

"What you're saying does have a point..." Mrs. So started to nibble on her bottom lip as she glanced at Arang. Realizing that her mother was close to giving in, Arang decided that it was time for her to speak up and give her opinion on the matter.

"My mom's right," she cut in. She saddened her tone and slapped on a crestfallen expression. "I mean before Taehyung and I started dating he was still a trainee but now that he's finally debuted the circumstances are much different from what they used to be." Her answer was sheer brilliance and Arang mentally patted herself on the back.

Director Wan was a bit confused as to what Arang was doing then she assumed there might have been a misunderstanding between them. She registered what the young girl was trying to do and quietly applauded her. She was much smarter than she had expected. But the older woman refused to concede. What would be better than getting the adults' approval? "I'm sorry to hear that, Arang-ah. But doesn't love conquer all? Have you even talked to Taehyung about this? I'm sure he would be devastated if he knew that you were considering a breakup."

Arang wanted to openly gag but she knew she couldn't.

"Taehyung, is that his name?" Mr. So inquired, breaking his silence.

"Yes it is. He's actually on his way here as we speak. When he heard you were all coming he was beyond ecstatic. He said he couldn't wait to meet you and formally introduce himself." Director Wan explained.

Arang knew that she was lying though. It seemed like Director Wan came prepared and ready to go all out. Why did she have to be so reckless? If she hadn't been so caught up in the moment arguing with Saeyoung none of this would have happened! Just then there was a knock at the door. "Come in." The woman permitted.

When the visitor entered, Arang rolled her eyes and slouched in her chair. "Hello Mr. and Mrs. So, it's so nice to finally meet you guys. I'm Kim Taehyung." Taehyung performed a small bow to display his respect to the elders and the married couple glanced at each other for a brief second before they nodded their heads. He was dressed in casual attire yet he still looked very handsome.

"It's nice to meet you as well," Mrs. So answered. "You're Arang's boyfriend?"

"Yes I am." He confirmed proudly. He flashed his pearly whites and turned to Arang. "How's my sweetie pie doing today? Did you miss me? I missed you so much." He gushed.

Arang was repulsed by his behavior but did her best not to let her feelings show. She forced herself to smile but did not answer his question.

"You're very handsome." Mr. So complimented.

"Ah thank you." Taehyung mused.

"Too handsome for my liking in fact. Boys with pretty faces tend to be jerks and players." He finished, putting the young man in a rather awkward position. Oh how right he was.

"I promise you that I am neither a jerk nor a player, abeonim. I only have eyes for Arang." The girl nearly choked on her own saliva hearing the crap spewing out of Taehyung's lips. Seeing her mother smiling as her father nodded his head again made her want to face-palm herself. She couldn't believe that they were actually buying Taehyung's little act. "But what brings you all here today? Is something going on that I don't know about?"

This was her chance. "Actually, we were talking about our relationship and how it's not goo—"

"How long have you been dating our daughter?" Mrs. So intentionally interrupted Arang because she didn't want the boy to know about what they had been discussing before his arrival.

"Us? We've been dating for a little over a year now." Taehyung replied right away.

"Really?" Mrs. So gaped, dumbfounded. She looked at her daughter in disbelief. "You were in a relationship for that long and you never bothered to tell us?"

"Omma, that's because—"

"It's my fault, omonim. I asked her not to tell anyone until after I debuted. I wanted to become somebody before I introduced myself as So Arang's man." Taehyung hung his head low and continued, "I'm sorry we waited so long to tell you."

"N-no it's okay. We just wanted to meet the boy Arang was seeing. Although you seem like nice person, I still have many concerns about your relationship. What are you planning to do if your fans find out that you're dating our daughter? Wouldn't it cause a problem?"

Taehyung stood up straight and spoke with determination. "I will protect her no matter what. Please believe in me."

"It's good to hear that but do you think it's possible for you guys to continue to date in secrecy?" Mr. So quirked a brow but it was Director Wan who provided him with a response.

"I don't think that's an option anymore, Mr. So. Recently Taehyung visited Arang at work and a few photos of them were taken and posted online." She turned her computer screen around and placed the pictures on exhibit.

Mrs. So gasped and cupped her mouth. From those snapshots she could tell the two of them were definitely involved intimately. Arang, on the other hand, ran a palm over her face. So she was screwed after all. "I'm afraid we will have to go public with their relationship first before we do anything else. It'll be best for us to acknowledge their relationship instead of waiting until somebody recognizes Arang, if they haven't already, and goes to Dispatch with this."

"I don't want to!" Arang stood up and crossed her arms in front of her chest. The best thing she could think of doing now was throwing a tantrum like a five year old.

"Arang, lower your voice. There's no need to yell." Mr. So chided apprehensively.

"Baby, why are you being like this?" Taehyung frowned as he rushed over to her side. He grabbed her arm and she scowled at the contact. Only he, along with the director, was able to witness her displeasing countenance. Taehyung smirked at her reaction and pulled her closer, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "We've had this talk before. Why are you changing your mind now? I told you that no matter what happens I will always be here for you. There's nothing to be afraid of."

"You mean the two of you have already discussed this matter beforehand?" Mrs. So blinked. "If that's the case then we don't have anything else to say. The kids have already decided and we should follow their wishes. Arang, you can stay here and spend some time with your boyfriend. Your father and I will head home first and talk about Saeyoung's punishment. We will see you later."

"I will make sure she arrives home safely. It was a pleasure for me to finally meet the amazing people who are responsible for raising such a beautiful girl. Until next time please take care of yourselves." Taehyung let Arang go and bowed to her parents again.

"Thank you for coming in today and for understanding and cooperating with us, Mr. and Mrs. So. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me. We're all family now." Director Wan walked them out but before they disappeared, Mr. So glanced over to Taehyung.

"If you even think about hurting my daughter, it will be the end for you." He announced sternly.

"Honey," Mrs. So hissed as she slapped her husband's chest and dragged him out. "Why are you threatening him?" She whispered.

"I'm simply letting him know what will happen to him if he ever thinks about breaking Arang's heart. There's nothing wrong with that." The man shrugged nonchalantly.

"You have five seconds to get as far as you can from me before you meet your demise." Arang was clenching her jaw and her hands were balled up into fists. She was dying to punch the boy but knew that she couldn't.

Taehyung scoffed and voluntarily stepped away from her. He dusted his clothes and took a seat on the couch. "Relax, you maniac, it's not like I enjoy having to get dirt on myself. Now I have to take a scorching hot shower and burn these clothes just to remove your scent when I get back. Ah what a waste, I really liked this outfit too."

"Are you kidding me? I'm the one who has to take a bath in bleach. Nobody told you to touch me." Arang snarled, baring her teeth at him.

"You two need to control yourselves." Director Wan snapped. She was starting to get frustrated hearing them constantly attacking each other. For once couldn't they try to get along without all of the hostility?

"She was the one who started it!" Taehyung huffed like a child. "Such an annoying girl. How can anyone stand being around you?"

"It's better to be annoying than two-faced." Arang countered.

"Oh my goodness, what am I going to do with you kids? Don't you see that we have more important issues to worry about at the moment? Starting today, you two are officially dating. That means we will be releasing a statement on your relationship status, Taehyung. Whether you like it or not, you're in this together. If anyone asks you about your relationship you tell them that you're dating, understood? That includes your friends and families. No one must know the truth. I want you guys to take this time to get to know each other better without bickering and bantering every other sentence." Director Wan flicked her wrist over and shook her head.

"I have a meeting to attend. Taehyung, give Arang a tour of the building and then take her back to your practice room. It should be unoccupied for a couple of hours. When I come back I hope to see some progress between you guys." Before she left, the director smiled at Arang. "Thank you for reconsidering my offer. I promise you won't regret it. We'll go over the details later."

Taehyung stuck his head out of the door and watched as the director got onto the elevator. Once the doors sealed shut, he exited her office, leaving Arang by herself. He didn't care what the older woman said. There was no way he was going to go anywhere with the she-devil when there was nobody else around. Kim Taehyung's time was too precious for someone like So Arang.

As he was waiting for the next elevator to arrive, he thought about his actions and shivered. He couldn't believe he had actually called her baby! Just that thought alone made his stomach turn upside down (not that that was anatomically plausible). The elevator pinged but before Taehyung could get on, he was shoved to the side. He regained his footing and his head snapped upward toward the perpetrator.

"Haven't you heard of ladies first?" Arang snickered. She hit the button to close the doors, hoping to make a clean escape. To her dismay, the boy acted quickly and stuck his hand inside in order to stop himself from being abandoned.

"Nice try," he walked inside and glanced down at Arang, who was two or three inches shorter than him. "But you're going to have to do better than that." He pressed the lobby button and the doors conjoined.

"Oh I will and when I do you're going to be writhing on the floor in agony. Just like the first time we met." The corners of her lips curled upward for a brief second before they fell back down.

"Don't worry," Taehyung lightly patted his crotch to which Arang knitted her eyebrows at. "I've learned now. Whenever I'm with you, I'll be wearing a protective cup."

She snorted out loud and smirked smugly. "That's not the only way I can ruin you. By the time this fake relationship is over you're going to be in pieces."

"Hey, you're the one who told your parents I was your boyfriend." Taehyung reminded in a rather arrogant manner. He bit down lightly on his bottom lip and fixated his eyes on Arang yet again. "I knew you couldn't resist my charms."

Arang howled in laughter and clapped her hands. "And here comes your inflated ego. I was wondering where it went."

Taehyung ignored her statement and stuck his chin up into the air. "Just admit it already, So Arang. You're in love with me. What other reason would there be for you to tell your parents that we were in a relationship?"

"If you think I'm in love with you you need to be admitted to the asylum as soon as possible then. Isn't it obvious that I don't like you? I only told them we were dating because"—Arang didn't want to tell him she did so accidently because she wanted to get back at her little sister and make her jealous. If she did she would only be feeding his ego. Swiftly she thought of another excuse—"Director Wan and I negotiated when you left and we came up with a good deal that is shockingly rather beneficial for me."

It was completely quiet before Taehyung sucked his teeth and clucked his tongue. "I should have guessed you were doing it for money. You're that kind of girl I see." There was mockery laced in his voice and Arang knew that he was looking down on her, both literally and figuratively.

"Excuse me?" She glared at him and without warning, she slammed him against the wall. She dug her fingers into the collar of his jacket and leaned in toward his face. In a hushed, yet venomous, tone she defended herself. "Listen here, asshole, you don't know what kind of girl I am so don't pretend like you do. I recommend you shut up before I really end things for you."

Right when Taehyung was about to reply, the doors opened up. "Oh man. Sorry for the interruption!" The two passengers whipped their heads and were stunned to find the rest of BTS standing in the lobby, their jaws on the floor.

"Whoa, Tae, what's going on here?"
