First Session
Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY. If I did I would have Glynda cosplay as Emma Frost from the X-Men.

(Y/N)'s POV
The creaking of the door fills the arena as I slowly make my way inside. Once the door is shut the room goes quiet once more. The arena is so quiet without anyone else here. It's kinda creepy, though the sound of people off in the distance helps keep this from being too quiet. Scanning the room shows no sign of my blonde haired teacher. She said to be here around three so I am here. Maybe she wanted us to meet earlier or later. Maybe I'll just go ask someone where she may be. Just as I turn around to the door, the clicking of heels starts to get closer. Looking over my shoulder, my teacher gets into my sights with a light pant and some red to her face.
"Wait, (Y/N). I'm here." My hand falls from the door as I turn over to meet my teacher, who stops once she is just out of arm's reach. She catches her breath before continuing. "I'm sorry, there were some students who were misbehaving and I had to take care of them. Again, I'm sorry." Ah, she rushed here. Explains the light panting.
"It's alright, Miss Goodwitch, you have a job and you did it. No need to apologize." My combat teacher nods at my response. "I assume that it was a little bit away since you're panting and all." Miss Goodwitch gives me a curious look.
"How did you hear... Oh right, your semblance?" My nod confirms her assumption. "I see. Well, would you like to get started?" My shoulders move up and down to answer her.
"Honestly we don't have to do this, professor." She looks a little upset at me.
"What? Why not? You said that you were okay with this yesterday." Looking off to the side, I shrug again.
"I just got to thinking about it and just realized this isn't really necessary. We don't need these solo sessions and I don't really want to be a bother and take up your time..." From nowhere a soft hand cups my face and forces me to look her in the eyes. My face heats up a little bit as she gives me a smile.
"(Y/N), I'm your teacher. It's my job to care and even still, I would want to do this just to help you. You are a good person and a good student, (Y/N), and I want to help you, so please let me help you." Why though? Given the look in her eyes, I can tell she doesn't want to take no for an answer. Might as well just go through with it. Besides, it might be nice to be with someone who doesn't pity me or hate me. I take a deep breath before responding to my blonde teacher.
"Alright, Miss Goodwitch." Her small smile grows into a larger and more exuberant one. Her hand lingers on my face a little bit, which just serves to make my blush grow. "Um, professor?" She blinks a little before responding to me as if she was lost in thought.
"Yes, (Y/N)?"
"Your hand?" Looking at her warm hand on my face, she goes wide-eyed as she moves her hand away from my face quickly.
"Oh, sorry about that. Got lost in thought."
"It's fine. So, what would you like for us to do?" She tilts her head and thinks.
"Well, I have some paperwork that I need to fill out and organize, so would you mind helping me with that?"
"Sounds easy enough."
"Alright follow me then." My teacher turns and starts walking off and I follow behind her. As we walk to her office, she looks back at me, "I'm sorry I didn't ask this sooner but did you have any plans for today?" I don't quite get why she asked at all. She did originally think that I was okay with this. Oh well.
"No, I don't have any plans for today." I catch a glimpse of a smile before she turns her head back forward.
"Good, I would hate to get in the way of you being with friends or any other plans like that." A scoff is my response. "What was that for?"
"Nothing, I just don't have anything planned for today." The rest of the trip to her office is silent except for the clicking of her heels and my soft steps. Kinda weird that her office is directly connected to the arena, but I guess as a combat instructor she needs it to be this way. She finally leads us to the door to her office which is just out of sight of the bleachers and arena. Miss Goodwitch then uses her scroll to unlock her office door. With a slight click, the door unlocks before my teacher opens the door.
"Alright then, won't you come inside?" The blonde professor turns back and motions for me to follow her before she walks back into her office. Stepping inside, I can see the nice little office that belongs to my teacher. There isn't much to it, with a messy, paper-filled desk in the back of the room and a few chairs in front of said unorganized desk, there isn't much else to the room beside a half-filled bookshelf to her right behind her desk and two filing cabinets to her left. The walls are a little bland with their gray coloring, giving the room almost a prison cell feel. Kinda weird that she would opt for this kinda atmosphere given how much time she probably spends in here. The shuffling of papers pulls my attention to Miss Goodwitch and her cluttered desk. It's strange how prim she acts, yet she keeps her desk so disorderly. Even while thinking this and while she moves the papers around, some papers fall from the sides of her desk and to the ground. Miss Goodwitch groans in frustration, but before she can get up from her chair, I am already gathering up the papers.
"Oh, thank you (Y/N)." Nodding, I straighten back up and look for a clear place to put her papers but there really isn't any. Her entire desk is being drowned in papers. My teacher notices me looking at her desk and sighs as she sits back in her chair. "I know, I probably undersold just how many papers I needed to organize. Sorry."
"It's okay, professor." Finally giving up in my search, I just keep the papers in hand as I sit down in one of her other chairs. "I guess I am glad I decided to do this." She perks up after saying that.
"Really?"
"Yes. I would definitely feel bad leaving you with all this." She gives a strange reaction to my words, like a mix between a happy expression and a cringe. Never seen that kind of expression before.
"Yes, I can see that." She then stands up and grabs a stack of papers that are on the very edge of her desk. The blonde combat instructor then thumbs through the papers before nodding to herself. "Well, shall we begin?" A nod his my response. "Thank you. Here, these papers and the ones in your hands are nothing too major. If you could just put them in alphabetical order in the filing cabinet, then I would appreciate it." Placing the papers in the other set, I grab the other stack of papers that she wants me to take.
"Seems easy enough." Taking the files from her, I leaf through them. The papers are just about some old school construction forms about adding a bathroom or redesigning the teacher's lounge. There is one odd paper about some plans of adding a large basement to some part of the school for some reason but it doesn't even go into any specifics. Looking at the date of the paper doesn't help since the paper lacks a date or any hint at one. That's probably why Miss Goodwitch wants them in alphabetical order and not by date. Well, I might as well get started. The sounds of paper moving and shuffling soon fills in the silence of the as we begin to work. Every few minutes catch Miss Goodwitch glancing my way, but she goes back to working on her paperwork when she sees me looking. It almost looks like she wants to talk about something, but doesn't know how to go about starting. I should just focus on doing my work. Maybe she is just regretting this. Can't really blame her. The blonde huntress clears her throat.
"So, (Y/N), how has your day been?" Small talk? Okay then.
"Um, fine I guess. I slept well after I got the Rattas out of my room and my headphones and music were able to muffle the loud noises of my classmates in the neighboring rooms." She gives me a surprised look.
"There were Grimm in your room?!"
"Yeah, I don't quite know how my classmates got them into my room, but they had Pied use his weapon to catch them. They at least learned that I won't fall for the "gift" thing and just had the Rattas lose in my room." She looks at me dumbfounded.
"They put Grimm into your room as a prank?" I nod while continuing.
"Yes, that's pretty much it. I do have to hand it to them, my classmates are at least keeping it original." She gives me a sympathetic look while tilting her head.
"Original?"
"Yes, the last few times they used animals or bugs to bother me, they used Rapier Wasps, Skulltulas, and birds. Oh and somehow some young Nevermores. I think Pied's weapon is useful for more than just messing with Grimm."
"'Pied'?"
"Sorry, I mean Grün. He just doesn't like people calling him by his first name for some reason and insists people refer to him as Pied. I don't know why, but I just comply." She gives me the same questioning look, though this time without the sympathy.
"Why would you be nice to him when you suspect him of helping in this childish and more importantly, dangerous pranks?" I shrug.
"I don't really know. Just doesn't hurt to be nice to others, even if they aren't the nicest to you." My teacher gives what I think is a proud smile.
"I see. Interesting view on things." I give her another shrug. "But you mentioned a "gift" before. What did you mean?"
"Oh, just that one of the times I was pranked, they gave me a package that happened to be filled with Rapier Wasps." She flinches when she hears that and I realize what I had just said.
"So you were in the infirmary for two days because of a prank?" I look back at the papers to avoid looking her in the eyes. Damn it, (Y/N), why did you have to say that out loud? "You said you just accidentally stepped on a nest."
"Yeah, I know. I really didn't know who exactly gave me the package, so I just figured I wouldn't bother anyone." The loud sound of Miss Goodwitch's hands slamming down on her desk and her chair legs scraping against the floor of the room greets my ears as I look back at an angry blonde hunter.
"You should never have kept all of that to yourself! Your teachers and I could have looked into things or cracked down on such childish pranks. We could have, at the very least, told everyone that what had happened was going too far." She strangely looks mad at me. Little surprising, her reaction.
"Well, it doesn't matter now. No need to get worked up about it." She shakes her head.
"Of course there is a reason to be upset about this. You are still being picked on."
"That's just a normal thing really." Again, she shakes her head.
"No. From now on I will be looking into this matter." Okay, what?
"So this is where you draw the line? These pranks?" She looks at me with shock. "Not when they mess with me during class or when they are harassing me?" Her face twists angrily.
"Well, perhaps you wouldn't have these problems if you had just told me or one of your other teachers!" I can feel my own anger growing.
"Well maybe if you people would open your eyes, then you might notice it without me having to tell you!"
"Do you expect us to be psychics?!"
"No, I expect you to do your job!" We both glared at each other for some time before letting out a breath to calm down.
"I'm... sorry (Y/N). I know it's frustrating but your teachers and I are not getting involved in this because we dislike you, we just have our hands tied. Sadly." With another heavy sigh, I calm back down fully before responding.
"The headmaster said something about it?" Her eyes widen and she looks at me with shock before nodding. "Figures."
"How exactly did you know that?"
"Well it's a combat school, training students to fight, hunt, and protect, so I just assumed that the headmaster handles bullying differently than normal schools would. Doesn't mean I like or agree with him." She pinches the bridge of her nose and lets out a sigh.
"You aren't the only one to dislike it, but please understand that he is just wanting to help teach the students to fight for themselves."
"Still doesn't make me like it." She sadly looks to the side. In a voice so quiet that only someone with a semblance like mine would hear, she speaks.
"Me either..." After standing there for a little bit, I eventually go back to organizing the papers. Soon Miss Goodwitch joins me and we continue to work in silence. After some time all of the papers are alphabetized and filed away. Took a little bit longer for me to finish but it is done. Doubt it would have taken so long if I hadn't had that little argument earlier with my teacher. A look over at her desk shows that my glasses wearing teacher has made a dent in the paperwork on her desk, but has not cleared it all away. At least now one can see parts of the desktop.
"Miss Goodwitch?" She pushes her glasses back up her nose as she looks up at me. She's been working so much that some of her hair has come out of her bun and her ringlet has even started to straighten out. I didn't realize just how long her hair could be. Honestly, she looks kinda pretty despite the- Stop it! Don't think about that now! Her voice brings me back to reality.
"Yes, (Y/N)?" Okay, (Y/N), calm down.
"Would you like some help with your desk?" She quickly scans her unkept desk before looking back at me.
"If you don't mind, that would be lovely." Walking over to her desk, I start to move some papers around. "Do you have any particular piles or stacks I should put things in?" Her now straightened hair strand whips around a little bit as she gently shakes her head.
"No. If you would just get them into a pile so that I can actually see my desk, then you would already be doing me a big favor." She smiles at me after saying that.
"Alright." With that, I start trying to organize the papers. Doing my best, I try to put the papers into their own specific stacks but as I go on, more and more either get mixed in or are able to fit into more than one stack.
"(Y/N)?" Without breaking from my work, I respond to her.
"Yes?" She looks concerned.
"Were you hurt?" What is she... Oh, the Rattas.
"No, I'm fine. The little creatures' most dangerous thing about them is being able to hide, but that's hard to do when you are hiding from someone with my semblance." I think her sigh was that of relief but I am not sure. "So no, I am not hurt." She nods.
"Good." We go back to silence for a little bit before she groans. The professor then looks over at her scroll. "What?! We have been here for two hours?" She groans again before the sound of her chair fills the room.
"Professor?" She then walks over to me.
"I am sorry, (Y/N). I didn't intend for us to take so long here."
"It's fine, professor." My blonde teacher nods in response.
"Good, now let's stop with this blasted paperwork. I am brain dead from all of this and would like to do something else."
"Well, are we done today?" She looks a little hurt.
"Well, I did offer to start training you in return for helping me with these things. Unless you don't want to, that is..." The huntress looks a little down at the thought. Jeez.
"If you are fine with it, then I would like to train with you." Miss Goodwitch then looks up and beams a smile my way.
"I would happily do that. Shall we go begin?" After nodding we both head out to the arena.
"So what exactly are we going to do for training?"
"Well I thought that we could just do some basic exercises today, so I can fully understand what your limits are." Miss Goodwitch talks while walking out of the room and to the arena. Once out of the room, I shut the door and join her. "Are you alright with that?"
"Well, you are the combat teacher of Beacon Academy so I trust your decision." She smiles happily and we soon begin our first training session.
