Chapter 1 - Mysterious Waters
"You guys want to do something fun?"
Ranboo hated how Tommy's 7 words, accompanied by his smirk, filled a pit in his stomach.
He already prepared himself for the inevitable chaos he'd be facing in 5 minutes.
The reason the adults were fine with leaving them alone was anyone's guess.
Tubbo was already about to go outside, his body halfway through the window. Tommy was -- yeah, Tommy was already outside, waving at him.
Before he left, he reached for his book, grabbed his pen, and wrote:
"Future me, are you still alive?"
He ignored the bits of genuineness of the question.
He could set his low self-esteem for a while to admit that all of these 'fun' activities had him enjoy his own life more rather than fantasizing about another's. It was hard to say, but he knew it was true.
He couldn't hear the shouts of the two anymore, only his own shuffling and a cricket that decided to be annoying.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Oh boy, this is another story to tell his non-existent grandchildren.
~
Stars filled the night sky as the trio laid on a bench. Well, Tubbo laid his head on Ranboo's shoulder, Tommy laid his head on Tubbo's lap, while Ranboo could only sit still.
The stars moved in the sky, complimenting the city's blinding lights. It was peaceful, Ranboo admitted. Tubbo would agree and ramble about how it was worth it, sneaking out in the middle of the night only to see stars. Tommy would argue about how it would be more fun if they all strolled.
Well, Tommy didn't hold back. Never holding back at every opportunity life has for him. He was brave. Something everyone lacked.
Something Ranboo lacked.
"Boys, how would you feel if we went on a little journey?" Tommy said, sitting upwards and stretching his arms, only as Tubbo stopped playing with Tommy's hair.
"Yes! Were too Big Man?" Tubbo jumped up, shouting with a tone that could motivate anyone.
"Hold on," Ranboo interupted, someone's gotta be responsible in a group of chaos, right? "-that doesn't sound like a good idea."
"Aweee, but Ranboo!" Tommy started. For Tommy, he had his own idea of 'good.' He gets to hang out with friends while doing something new? Good! He didn't care if anyone thinks otherwise.
"It's probably 10 pm already, I-"
Tubbo grabbed Tommy's head, placing it infront of Ranboo as if he was an offering. A gift. He was, in a way.
Tommy's eyes widened and he gave a little pout.
Oh no.
Not the puppy eyes.
"Fine, fine, but only for 10 minutes," Ranboo pushed away Tommy's face, hiding a smile when Tubbo let out a cheer and Tommy tried to go in for a high five, before missing and slapping Tubbo's face.
Tubbo turned around his head, giving a glare to Tommy.
Needless to say, Tommy screamed as Tubbo chased him with a string of empty threats leaving his mouth.
"Note to self; Never anger Tubbo." Ranboo chuckled, before going to go babysit the two.
~
"What if we go out of the path?"
"Tubbo, we are not going out of the path. What is the path even for?"
"To ignore it, duh! Are you dumb, Ranboob?"
"Not you too, Tommy -- and don't call me that!" Ranboob said.
~
The trio walked, leaving a trail of footsteps as they walked.
They even brought a stick to leave marks everywhere.
Tubbo would be too distracted by anything that amazes him, Tommy would ramble about anything that comes to mind, while Ranboo would simply forget about focusing on figuring out where they came from.
A stick is doing a better job at getting them home. Yeah, maybe they'd buy themselves a GPS for their birthdays.
~
"Uhh, okay. I know I've been agreeing with you the whole time, Tommy, but what are we going to gain from going inside this cave?" Tubbo asked.
"Stories to tell my thousands of grandchildren given by my hundreds of wives? To impress Lizzie, my beloved?"
"You're an idiot."
"Wha- hey! Well, that's just rude."
"Alright, then go in the cave first then," Tubbo prompted. Tommy let out a nervous laughter.
"Ehe, c'mon you handsome, great, men! Wouldn't you want to be on the papers with me? Tommyinnit, the Big Man, with his two best friends, find a cave with...uh, I dunno, somethin' cool?"
"Fine, I'll come with you," Ranboo slumped. He'd bet that in two seconds, Tubbo would-
"Hey, wait for me!"
There. The trio is complete.
~
Ranboo pulled out his phone, flashing it around at the cave. Maybe even spinning himself and sending light onto different parts of the cave simply to annoy the two.
He couldn't help but gawk at the small pond. The blue immediately drawing him in, and it seemed as if it happened to the other two.
Tommy immediately laid down and dragged his finger along the water. It was cold.
Despite the odd situation, the beeduo didn't mind. They just sat with Tommy, watching him as he drew circles on the water.
It was as if the water was his canvas and he was the artist.
"It's nice," Tommy complimented. His eyebrows tense for a moment.
"I like these moments with you guys." He looked both of them in the eyes, but shying away not long after. Ranboo pulled him in to lay on his shoulder; Tubbo, although not one for physical contact, held Tommy's soft hand and rubbed circles.
Tubbo hummed.
He was content with these moments. No camera's, no bantering, it was just them. Genuine moments. He wished he could hang this in his wall, something just for him.
The soft drops of water slowly turned into its own kind of music. Their reflections were looking back at them. They were smiling.
The pond was beautiful it was almost glowing. The blue hues seemed as if it reflected back onto their pale skins.
Tommy subconsciously continued dragged his hand along the water, softly rambling about whatever as he watched the circles form around his fingertips. He then flicked his hand onto his best friends, smiling as they both flinched away from the water.
"Ahh!"
"Tommy, you jerk!"
He let out his signature laugh at their reactions.
"I will throw you into the water if I wasn't such a kind, and generous human being." Tubbo pouted as he crossed his arms.
"Haha, uh- Tubbo, my friend! My very good ol' friend that I care about very much! Please do not do that!"
Ranboo could only laugh, not having the heart to pretend to be mad.
"We probably need to go home though."
"Aw man, but-"
"But I still have to throw Tommy in the water!"
"Nope! Let's go Ranboo! To our beloved home! Yes!" Tommy rambled as he grabbed Ranboo by the hand, dragging him up by the small slump.
Ranboo didn't have time to react, so he tripped.
"Oh, crap! Ranboo, man, I'm so sorry I-"
"It's fine, it's just a grazed knee." Ranboo reassured, sending a smile before remembering that his mask was on.
Tubbo ran to Ranboo, carrying him bridal style.
"Tubbo- Tubbo, it's just a grazed knee." he said, but Tubbo didn't listen.
"Make way for the Queen!" Tommy shouted, saluting to continue the silly bit.
Damn, did Ranboo love his friends.
"Hah! Make way for- make way for me, peasants!" he laughed out, pointing to the exit before leaning back.
"Of course, my queen!" Tubbo shouted in a low voice, marching to the top.
He tripped, letting out a little yelp as he tried to catch Ranboo, but only bumped into Tommy.
The trio groaned, Tommy rubbing his head as the other two tried to stand up.
"Pfft- bahaha! Yeah, that's- of course our clumsiness would just kick in now."
He was the first to stand up, offering a hand to the two laughing embodiment of chaos.
He wouldn't trade these two for the world.
Maybe he can answer past Ranboo's question.
~
"Future me, are you still alive?"
I've never been more alive than right now, with these two :)
