Chapter 32

QOTD: What do you think the end of the book will be like? 😕

Ryan's POV:

*knock knock*

"Come in."

"Hi Ryan, sorry to disturb you but these are also the documents which you have to see through and give your approval to." Dawne said hurriedly as she place a foot high stack of documents on Adrian's desk. With him abroad, I have to take over his duties as no one else is allowed to touch Adrian's belongings and all.

"Thank you, Dawne. Anything else?"

"Nothing much. We're still finalising the remaining copies for the day. I'll bring them to you immediately once we've printed them out."

"Great. Thanks a lot Dawne."

"No problem. I'm glad to help." Closing the doors behind her, I resumed my work, reading through the uncompleted stack of documents which needs approval by the end of the day.

It's been 3 days since Adrian had went abroad. Work is more or less the same, only that papers keep piling up non-stop. I even have to spend nights in the office to clear all the paperworks. Trish was stopped work by Adrian's dad for the week since I'm rarely in and he's on a cruise with his ex-clients.

*ring ring.....ring ring....* Adrian's name flashed on my phone's screen brightly, bringing up my mood at the thought of being able to hear his voice once again. He calls only once at 7pm here as it'll be 11pm there. But he'll also drop a few calls here and there during his breaks to update on his life there.

"Hi Adrian."

"Hi love. How are you coping? Is work still pilling up?"

"Yeah...it's been hectic these few days but I'm coping with it. Many are requesting for meetings this week and I have to postpone them to next week. The slots for next few week's are practically full. How's the situation on your side though?"

"They're still demanding me to give them a larger benefit. Greedy bastards...it's harder to get to an agreement than I thought it would. If only they're easy to deal with, I would be able to be back by tomorrow...I miss you, love."

"I miss you too-"

*knock knock* Sigh...I wonder how many times have this happened... 5? Maybe even more...

"Sorry Adrian, I have to go now. More papers are coming in."

"Okay. I'll call you tomorrow morning. Take care of yourself and don't overwork too much okay? Love you, Ryan."

"I will. Love you too, Adrian. Goodnight." Hanging up the call immediately, I sent Amy in as she handed me the hardcopy of next week's meeting schedule, along with a cup of coffee. Just what I needed.

"I hope you don't mind latte?"

"I'm fine with it. Thanks a lot, Amy. I really needed it."

"No worries. You seemed like you could use some caffeine. Call me if you need anything else okay? Don't hold back if you need anything."

"Okay. Thank you Amy."

"Then I'll take my leave now. Don't work too late okay?" She said concernedly as she took out an energy bar from her bag and placed it on my desk before leaving the office. She's such a nice woman. Whoever marries her will be blessed.

Okay...let's see...47, 48, 49, 50. Great...seems like I have to camp overnight in the office again. I'll grab a change of clothes just before office hours...hopefully I would be done with these by then...I really hope so.

*knock knock* Urgh...what is it now? Don't tell me more paperwork...

"Come in." Opening my doors, Dawne revealed herself once again but this time with a paper bag in the place of a stack of documents.

"Sorry to disturb you Ryan but I bought you dinner from the cafe down the road. You haven't eaten yet right?" Oops. Sorry, my bad from jumping into conclusions.

"I forgot? Thanks a lot by the way, Dawne. I don't think I can even spare any more time to even go and eat. Sorry for making you do this."

"Don't be, Ryan. We're colleagues right? So we should look out for one another in times of need. Anyway, I'll get going now. Do remember to eat okay?"

"I will. Thanks, Dawne." Sending me a light smile, she exited my office quietly before closing the doors behind her, leaving me alone in the office as I stared out into the night scenery. I really love the view from the top. It's so calming and relaxing.

Turning back to my desk, I opened the take-out box only to get hit by a strong aroma of spices, making my stomach growl in hunger. I may have forgotten to eat lunch too...did I? I can't remember. Taking a spoonful of the delectable dish, a variety of mouth-watering flavors burst in my mouth, assaulting my tastebuds in the most wonderful way.

I guess I did forget to take lunch. They do say that anything tastes wonderful if one's hungry. Oh crap. I have to get on with my work. I have no time to waste on eating only. Sigh...I can't wait to get them done once and for all.

Unknown's POV:

"Target's down."

"We'll be up soon. Make sure no one sees us."

"Just come up fast. You guys know his room."

"Don't order us. We know what to do. You on the other hand, guard his door. Make sure that he doesn't come out of the room."

"I know."

"We're on the way up now. Give us a sec." Hanging up the call, three bulky men in black soon dashed towards my location, one with a body-bag slung over his shoulders.

"He's inside?"

"Yes. Sleeping."

The shortest one among the three unlocked the door in ease before opening it silently or the other two to enter behind him. WIthout wasting any second, he striked hard against the target's head while the other two unzipped the body-bag to reveal thick and corse ropes, along with long pieces of cloth.

They tied the target's arms and legs together separately tightly without mercy before bounding them behind the target's back harshly. Satisfied of their handiwork, they threw his body into the bag roughly and stuffed a thick piece of cloth into his mouth and blindfolding him tightly before zipping the bag up.

"The boss will be glad. Who knew that he was so easy to capture."

"He was asleep you retard. Let's get going before the security suspects anything." The buffest man commented as he hauled the bag over his shoulders easily while the other two made a clear path for him. "By the way, tell your Master to meet us at the dock before sunrise or we'll just throw him into the sea for the sharks. Got it?"

"Y-Yes."

"Good."

Finally my work here is done....for the better or worse...it's none of my business already. I'm wiping my hands off this thing from now on.

Who's the target?

Who's the unknown person?

Any guesses?

See ya'll in the next chapter to find out more!
