Origins|

An elemental is a mythical being, typically summoned by rituals ranging from the occult to the alchemical. Each elemental roughly corresponds to a particular classical element: earth, water, air, and fire. An elemental is allegedly composed of something greater than their associated element. Summoners widely believe that elementals hail from an arcane dimension of enormous power: the Aether.

Associated Characteristics|

•    Gaseous form - Elementals regularly take on a humanoid form, yet certain extremities largely dissolve into a manifestation of their traditional element.

•    Elemental control - Elementals are able to control aspects of their respective element. For example, a salamander (fire elemental) would be able to control fire and manipulate the temperature.

• Spellbound - Elementals are largely bound to the whims of their summoners. This has created the need for extremely specific wording of the summoning contract. There have been many cases where elementals have killed their summoner as a result of a miscommunication and, trapped in this world, eventually succumbed to insanity.

Fun Facts|

• While the majority of elementals are hostile, some actively befriend their masters and have a long experience with a variety of different summoners over the millennia. The names, deeds, and history of these elementals are recorded in a public almanac; however, to prevent future misuse, the specific rituals are guarded under the highest security.
