Chapter Ten-Flashback
I beat my wings as fast as I could as I worried that Deathbringer would change his mind and come racing after with a speech about how I need protection. I decided to land on top of one of the mountains to start looking for this mystery Skywing.
Just as I landed with a soft "Thump" on the ledge heard a soft "click". Whirling around I discovered it was a......scavenger. A scavenger that was currently running away from me, waving its arms above its head as it babbled in its own language. I love Sunny and all, but I'll never understand what she sees in scavengers. I mean what it just did din't even look slightly intelligent. As if it had heard my thoughts it turned around and stared at me with its big brown eyes and scruff of brown fuzz that came down to its waist.
When it saw me looking at it, it went right back to babbling as it ran down the mountain. I shook my head and went back to searching the horizon. After about five minutes of searching I found a river. For some reason it reminded me of the one back under the mountain.
A three year-old dragonet sat by the river washing the numerous cuts, bruises, and burns that covered her scales from today's battle training with Kesteral. When she thought she looked good enough for the other dragonets not to question her, she changed her scales to a light purple and stood up. Just as she was about to leave she heard footsteps. Freezing, the young Rainwing quickly turned invisible, fearing that it was one of her guardians. To her relief it was the other dragonets. Just as she was about to turn her scales back to the light purple they had been before when the young Seawing started talking.
"I just don't understand why they got a Rainwing that's all." They young Seawing stated, turning to look at a Mudwing, a Sandwing, and a Nightwing.
"Tsunami we've been over this before." The Nightwing replied. "It was just easiest to get a Rainwing egg." Ouch. That hurt.
"Who cares how we got Glory." The little Sandwing stated as the Mudwing nodded his head in agreement. "Also how do you know that Starflight?"
"That's what Kestrel told me." Starflight said defensively. After a moment he added "Sunny's right though. Who cares why we have Glory, all that matters is that she's here."
"I just meant that it would have been more useful to have someone with more fighting skills." Tsunami interjected.
"She does have a point." The Mudwing said, speaking for the first time since the conversation started.
"Clay!" Sunny cried. "That was mean guys."
"It's also true and you know it." Tsunami snapped back.
As if on cue Clay's stomach rumbled, ending the fight. "I'm hungry. Let's go get some food."
"You're always hungry Clay!" Sunny said with a laugh as they left the room.
Glory changed her scales to a light purple as tears welled up in her eyes. Telling herself she was not going to cry she quickly blinked them away and followed the others.
I was brought back to reality by the sound of wingbeats. Still dazed from the flashback I searched for the source of the noise. I quickly found the Skywing flying towards Jade Mountain.
Knowing that I only had so much time to warn my friends I leapt into the air and raced back towards Jade Mountain.
I hope that all of you guys enjoyed this chapter and thank you guys so much for reading it. You have no idea how much this means to me. I hoped you liked it.
