Chapter Sixteen-Coquelicot
"Put more guards around the dungeon." I told Deathbirnger. We were standing outside my hut as the Sun dipped lower into the sky. "We can't let him escape."
"Yes my Queen." Deathbringer replied with his usual grin. Rolling my eyes I choose to ignore him and instead walked into my hut for the night.
The next morning I woke up to my brother demanding to be let in.
"Glory!" Jambu cried from the outside. I sighed, at this rate I wouldn't get any rest today.
"Come in!" I replied. The pink Rainwing practically dove into the house, the lack of sleep noticeable by the bags under his eyes. "What's wrong? You look like you haven't slept at all." I commented.
"I didn't. I was at the Sand Kingdom delivering the message and I spent all night flying back."
"How come you didn't just wait until morning to come back. I'm sure that Queen Thorn would have let you stay in her palace for one night."
"She offered to let me stay there, but this couldn't wait."
"Jambu get on with it! What couldn't wait?
Instead of answering he simply shoved a letter towards my face before continuing. "She didn't know a thing about the dragons, but a guard did. He said that his town had been attacked by a group of Skywings who set fire to several of their buildings about two weeks ago. He said that two out of the five of them were named Coquelicot and another Amaranth and the one who went by the name of Amaranth had venom across one eye."
At the point he was out of breath and clearly exhausted.
"Go get some rest." I said as gently as possible. "Thanks for the letter."
Nodding, he left and my scales turned a light green. Amaranth was alive. We needed to act fast. With shaking hands a slowly opened the letter.
I'm back! I'll try to update as much as possible, but I'm not sure how often that will be. Even though it's summer I'm still pretty busy.
