Long it has been since we've witnessed this story. Yet this time it seems like we are thrown back into the distant past, way before every action of today that we know about were made. As to where exactly we are? Well... it looks like we are around 14 years ago, witnessing... two young boys wandering around the city. And as to how exactly they wander, they are jumping from a building to another, almost similar to a small chase or a competition between them. And these two children seem familiar to us. Very familiar... Being the young versions of...

...the two LENKOV brothers. Who knows why we are witnessing this specific scene, but we are here to find out in the end.

In those times though, you can see how joyful CHE5TER really was, with such a smile that you would think it doesn't even belong to him, and such bright and lively eyes that are now missed for whatever reason. RY4N seems the same as ever though, just more happy than we know him, and the same joyful face like his little brother.

It looks as while they jump, they sure know how to annoy a few people here and there, since one of the kids jumps on a merchant's property, getting the man a bit angry at them.

[Merchant]-Watch were you are going, kids!

[CHE5TER]-Sorry, Mister!!!

"...Those are... questions that every Error and Original get. But, we are not so different from all the other beings, even if we are part of one of the machine's mistakes caused by its age. We are still C borns, R borns and M borns, all living in this world to survive. We do not believe that we are different, or that we do not belong in this world. We are all the same.

As to what it means to be an Original and an Error, it depends from person to person. An error of the machine is nothing more but a broken code, creating more beings from a single code instead of one. But to the beings themselves... the Original and the Errors are bound together no matter what happens to them. Even if you see it as a never-breaking friendship, soulmates made for each other, or even..."

And after some time of running around, the kid in front stops on a tall building, waiting for the other one to come to take a small rest. So when the other one catches up, he sits down from his exhaustion, breathing chaotically, only for that moment to be the start of their conversation.

[CHE5TER]-Wow, you really aren't in shape at all, man...

[RY4N]-...It's not like I'm training every single day like you!

[CHE5TER]-You still use that excuse?

[RY4N]-Ha ha... Laugh at me, won't you??

[CHE5TER]-I'm just saying, RY4N! Don't be such a cry-baby!

After the other one takes some breaths for a rest, they stand to admire the view of the city from that building. They both seem joyful and relaxed, and who wouldn't? The view is something that no being should miss, even for such a small city. In the meantime, the lively one appears to take out a paper on which is drawn a map of the city and begins to stare at it for a few seconds before looking back at the city's view, analysing their position based on a technique he probably made up for himself. The technique is pretty simple: after he manages to spot the north of the city with the help of his map, he raises his thumb up, facing that direction. After he moves his hand and body to the right, he also moves his thump 90° to the left, indicating that now he is facing east and at his left part is north. If it was the other way, facing west, his thumb will turn 90° to his right, while for south will be his thumb down. With that technique, he can find out where he is heading to and where he may arrive based also on the map he drew.

[CHE5TER]-Hm... I wonder where was that merchant who was selling cigarettes now. Won't be such a bad idea to try something new...

[RY4N]-What??

[CHE5TER]-What? Oh, come on! Don't look at me like that! You know that I'm kidding!

[RY4N]-With every stupid thing you say every day, I barely can tell which one is a lie and which is the truth...

[CHE5TER]-Hey, I'm not saying stupid things EVERY single day!

[RY4N]-Yes, you do!

[CHE5TER]-Nanananahh, I can't hear you!!

[RY4N]-*sigh* You are acting like a child.

Yet the playful one looks at him a bit strange as he doesn't understands something.

[CHE5TER]-But you are a child too!! What the heck do you even mean??

[RY4N]-Oh, NOW you can hear me, huh!?

They then stop arguing and admire the city one more time, before RY4N starts talking again.

[RY4N]-...We should get back to our father. You have your exam tomorrow and I think you should really take a rest so you can pass it properly.

[CHE5TER]-You are saying it like I'm some stupid kid who doesn't understand basic life things. I am resting right now, what's the difference if we go back?

[RY4N]-Well, at least he will know where we are...

[CHE5TER]-Ehh... Who cares about that anyway? Since we are in his beloved city from the underground, I do not understand why would he worry so much about where we are in the first place. It's not like the people he is talking about all the time are present here. There is no danger in this city at all.

[RY4N]-Still...

[CHE5TER]-If we go back now, we probably won't do anything interesting anyway. You will either focus on your books while I'm with my master, or stay with our father while he tells us more tales.

[RY4N]-What's wrong with reading books?

[CHE5TER]-It's just boring! New days, same old books with the same stories that we've heard ever since when we were newborns! And they are not even believable!! Don't you get sick of them??

[RY4N]-Not really... Not all of them are the same, you know? There are some life experiences written by real people, or journals by old soldiers, or--

[CHE5TER]- --Ughhh...

Then, suddenly from the distance, there is a voice calling for their names, somewhere from the ground. And it seems... to come from a faded face.

[M4TTH3W]-CHE5TER! RY4N!

[CHE5TER]-Speaking of the devil... Why did you bring him into the conversation? Now we truly need to go!

[RY4N]-Oh, shut up and get your ass down!

So, they jump off the roof of the building to meet the person that was searching for them: a tall man with white hair and blue eyes, looking with such a gentle expression at them.

[M4TTH3W]-There you are! We should get going. I was thinking of something we could do!

[CHE5TER]-Let me guess. I have to go home and rest for tomorrow?

[M4TTH3W]-If you wish to do so, I cannot obligate you... But I was thinking of something else.

[CHE5TER]-Huh?

[M4TTH3W]-Maybe we could go to Mr. AD4M alongside your master and celebrate in advance for tomorrow. What do you say?

[CHE5TER]-I... wasn't expecting that, that's for sure...

[RY4N]-Yeah, I can read it on your face!

[CHE5TER]-SHUT UP!!

[M4TTH3W]-So? What do you think, CHE5TER?

[CHE5TER]-*sigh* I mean... it isn't a bad idea and all, but...

[M4TTH3W]-But...? What is it?

[CHE5TER]-...Can we try the City of Above this time?

Yet his father goes silent as He hears these words from His son. It isn't the first time he asks for this, it doesn't seem like it. So, He takes a deep breath.

[M4TTH3W]-CHE5TER...

[CHE5TER]-You are always talking about it, but you never took us there! Why can't we go and visit that city at least for once? I will leave you alone after this, I won't ever speak about it, I promise! But I really want to see it! Pleaaase!! That's why I will join my master's base in the first place! Please, Father!!

[M4TTH3W]-We already had this conversation before...

[CHE5TER]-But I just want to see it at least one time! You told me it is waaay bigger than our city and that is more beautiful! Expect for the people there, of course... Please!!

[M4TTH3W]-It's too dangerous out there, CHE5TER! I can't let you go in that city no matter what it takes me to protect you!

[CHE5TER]-Protect me from what!? You are always keeping me in the dark! We've been hiding our whole life like we are some sinners hiding from the gods! I don't want to hide my entire life! I don't want to live in the shadows!

[M4TTH3W]-...I know you dream to see the world above, but I can't take you there for now. I promise you, one day you will see it with your own eyes, not hear some empty words spoken by a man. But that time didn't come yet. Do you understand?

[M4TTH3W]-Now let's go. We shall meet up with your master so you can have a bit of fun, okay?

And so, those three have found themselves wandering around the Underground City in search for someone that they want to meet. And when they finally notice him around a street, the former ruler and the two kids walk towards him. The man seems to have white hair as well, but his eyes are green and his skin is a darker colour, him being the former Leader of the Southeast Base. This is our first time seeing the retired master of CHE5TER in flesh, as we only heard about him. But from the looks of it, there is nothing interesting about him. Or at least that's how he wanted for the first impression to be.

[AL7AN]-Well, wouldn't you look at that... The Great Leader... little RY4N... and the little rascal called CHE5TER.

[CHE5TER]-HEY!! I TOLD YOU TO STOP CALLING ME THAT!

[AL7AN]-Mhmhmhm... Don't get mad now, young warrior. You know you are not the only one who likes to play around.

[CHE5TER]-Well, I don't like how you play around with me, okay!?

[RY4N]-But you are a rascal after all.

[CHE5TER]-Y...m...ttt... On which side are you on!??

[M4TTH3W]-Alright, CHE5TER. Calm down now.

[CHE5TER]-But they bully me, Father! Your beloved son and your friend are bullying me!!

[M4TTH3W]-But don't you enjoy when you make fun of RY4N as well?

[AL7AN]-Now, CHE5TER, let's get back to business if we got you this mad. You have your exam tomorrow, right?

[CHE5TER]-Yeaaah! What about it, smart man?

[AL7AN]-Don't get so cocky, little one! If you truly want to join me, you have to pass it, remember? I've trained you for four years now in martial arts, but your powers are nothing that I can help you with. Did you get lessons in particular how I told you a while ago?

[CHE5TER]-I stood with someone from your base! Who did you want me to ask!? I even exercised with my powers for months!!

[CHE5TER]-BECAUSE I don't like to go there! The kids are always mean and talk shit behind my back! Not only that, but I also don't learn anything new there anyway! I've learnt more from the people around the base rather than the school! For the gods' sake!!

[RY4N]-So you want to leave me alone in that class? Wasn't it enough that I was born as an R being and I can't have classes of Power Tactics with you?

[CHE5TER]-Well, I don't care what you will do from now on there! The kids don't seem to bully you anyway! Only me!!

[AL7AN]-So what if they bully you? Show them that you are better than them. Show them what you are capable of.

[CHE5TER]-Oh, so I should beat their butts?

[AL7AN]-Yeah! Get them, warrior!

[M4TTH3W]-AL7AN!

[AL7AN]-What? I'm just kidding! It's not like he is going to believe it! He is a smart guy!

[CHE5TER]-Aw, man...

And when he hears his brother's response, RY4N gives him a small kick in the head with his hand to wake him up to reality, while CHE5TER looks at him and laughs.

[AL7AN]-But I'm serious now, CHE5TER. I want you to focus tomorrow, alright? If you don't pass it, you know what's going to happen. You won't join me until you hit the age of fourteen. And not only that, but I believe a small "training" after your failure would make sure you won't ever fail again. Understood?

So, CHE5TER gets a bit concerned since he knows what's going to happen. He usually does train with his master and most of the time he eats some punches, which hurt like shit, of course. But when he fails, he doesn't like his punishment that much either, as it hurts even more than the training itself. He swallows uncomfortably now, knowing damn well that if he fails, his master won't have any mercy on him.

[M4TTH3W]-...Don't scare him now, AL7AN. I don't want him to run away alone and not find him for hours again.

[AL7AN]-But that's how they are suppose to learn, M4TTH3W! Take a lesson from me! You will see what man he will become in the future! You will be proud of his improvement, I give you my word!

The Examination Area

Now we are witnessing the day of "tomorrow", where the two brothers are present at the Central School "M1NERV4", being the only building in the whole city which lets the examinations of the C borns being taken. It is a special area constructed for the C borns to take their final exams in a special room, being supervised every second to make sure nobody cheats. Those that do so do not get their diploma which shows that they've successfully passed these exams, and without it, you are not able to enter the military bases. So of course this diploma is important to young CHE5TER now.

It is a small problem with what he wishes to do though. The exams are made special for those that are fourteen-year-olds, the graduates of the schools, which now little CHE5TER isn't, being only a ten-year-old. But even with this inconvenience, the rules of the exams say that every being which got above the age of ten can try to get these exams too. It is not advised, but many beings chose it in the past, making the rule be established after.

And because there were a lot of kids who wanted these diplomas only to graduate school alone, the system allowed an exam similar to this one for those that are ten-year-old, being an easier one and guaranteeing you the graduation after, if you pass, of course. But even if you pass, the diploma you get does not allow you to enter the military bases, it only allows you to leave school as a graduated student. So, of course, little CHE5TER did not choose this exam because of this small problem, going for the one that the graduates are taking.

There are a lot of kids that wait for their turn to come, most of them being graduates of the schools, which in these months will leave and start their lives. Analysing a bit the area won't get much of the details of it though, but there are some things everyone pays attention to. On a building in front of the kids, on the upper area, there is a board on the right with the highest scores ever made by any student in the entire city. The board shows the name of the kid, his full code and a photo when one did the examination, not to mention the scores on the right, the highest being around 960 points. Another board that is on the left shows the kids that will have the examination in order, which CHE5TER and all the other kids are looking at the whole time. It does seem like little CHE5TER's turn will come soon, so he is pretty nervous because of it.

[CHE5TER]-One more student and it's my turn...

[RY4N]-You think you are ready, CHE5TER?

[CHE5TER]-I hope so...

[RY4N]-'Cause you got a bit drunk yesterday when we went out. I'm only making sure you won't puke over there too and make yourself a fool in front of the evaluators.

[CHE5TER]-Shut uuup!!!

[RY4N]-But isn't it true? Your master laughed at you the rest of the day because of that! And I was the one who had to carry you home since our father was busy with his work again and had to leave! I'm a victim of your actions all the time! Gods, I just hope I won't need to take care of you for the rest of my life...

[CHE5TER]-Then why are you staying with me ALL THE TIME!? If you don't enjoy doing so, just go and do whatever you want! I can always go alone wherever I please! I don't need anybody to stay with me!

[RY4N]-I don't have another brother, CHE5TER! You are the only person that I'm staying with since you are my Error and I am your Original, and also because you are always getting in trouble! I am obligated to make sure that you don't kill yourself, remember? That and you don't seem to have other friends either!

[CHE5TER]-Yeah, yeah... Bring that shit up again, won't you!?

As they are talking though, it seems that some kids are approaching them, which look to be a bit older than them, being graduates of the schools.

[Student1]-Look! Another ten-year-old who tries his luck at the examination for the graduates! Don't you know they have an examination for kids like you too?

[Student2]-Hey, wait a second... Isn't this kid the one that everyone talks about in the whole Central School who likes to show off and annoy everyone else?

[Student1]-...Oh, yeah! He really is! So? You came to show us that you are better than everyone else again, kid? You know, the whole school hates you because of the attitude you give us all just 'cause you believe you are the best in this world and all the others are scums compared to you. What are you even trying to prove exactly? You want to kiss the teachers' ass that much, or you simply want to piss us off for good?

[CHE5TER]-...

[RY4N]-Hey! What's your problem!? The examination can be done by every student above the age of ten! He is not doing anything wrong by choosing to take this exam!

[Student1]-My problem is that we have to wait even longer because of some children that are not skilled enough anyway so we can lose more of our time! What makes you think that this guy will be any different than all the others anyway? Do you really believe that a few tricks to impress everyone will get him far in this life?

[RY4N]-So what if you have to wait!? Learn to be patient, god dammit! It's not our fault that the system puts the younger ones first so they can finish quickly!

[Student1]-Oh, you little--

[Student2]- --Come on, man. We shouldn't waste our energy on them. If they want to fail and make themselves some fools, it's their problem, not ours. Let them be.

So the boys leave them alone in the end, disgusted by both of them. It sure looks like CHE5TER is hated by the whole school as he said if some kids that he never met treat him like this. RY4N looks at his brother a bit as he feels down, then starts trying to comfort him.

[RY4N]-...Are you okay, Ches?

[CHE5TER]-Yeah, I'm fine...

[RY4N]-Don't let them demotivate you! You shouldn't listen to them anyway! You trained your whole life for this exam, I know you can pass it!

[CHE5TER]-Heh... Yeah... Thank you, RY4N.

[RY4N]-Hey, you know I will always be by your side! Bros forever?

RY4N shows his hand so CHE5TER can understand what he has to do. So, he takes his hand too and shakes it friendly with his brother, having such a smile on his face, a sincere one.

[CHE5TER]-...Bros forever!

Then, a sound appears out of nowhere as a student is leaving the building, student which seems to be the one CHE5TER was waiting for to finish. So when the student left, on the board on the left, the order changed for a bit, now appearing:

So, before he leaves, CHE5TER looks at his brother one more time, while RY4N seems to be giving him a nod, a nod which could mean a sign of "good luck". He then looks forward, walking towards the entrance of the building, leaving RY4N behind to wait for him and getting ready for what there is to come.

There are two tests which each C born student has to perform: the first one being called "Energy Consumption" and the second one the "Rebirth of Creativity". The "Energy Consumption" Test requires the student to use as little energy as the being can. In this test, the C borns are given a box which they have to open while they are not given any kind of key or anything that could help them open it. The box itself is a complicated device made by a specific ore used most of the times for the old shields, so the students have exactly 10 minutes to open the box and take whatever is inside. In the "Rebirth of Creativity" Test, the students have to create anything they want, literally any object they think of, but with one condition: the object has to be as complicated as possible. And yet again, just like at the first test, the students get 10 minutes to finish everything.

Before each round starts, the students are given 5 minutes to analyse each test in particular and think of an idea. Each round has the maximum points of 500, which to pass, you need at least 650 points from a combination of both of the rounds and with, again, some conditions: each round cannot be lower than 250 points, because if they have it this way, the student doesn't pass the examination. Of course, in both of these tests, you are being supervised by a few cameras who help the evaluators see that the student isn't using something to help himself pass, like homemade items from the outside or anything like that.

The first test isn't something complicated though. Most of the students who own some basic knowledge about the ore used have taken the maximum score. The ore itself doesn't support the wet areas after a high temperature, a reason why the shields were mostly used during the war. The old areas of the war are nothing but deserts, so when the soldiers were fighting, the high temperature was a problem for those that aren't used to it, but an advantage to the shields. Moistening it is a simple task, then it is mostly common to try and higher up the temperature so the ore can melt easily. Some try rubbing their hands and then putting them on the wet area, others blowing a hot air. And just like that, CHE5TER manages to get what's inside the box easily, without using any bit of his energy. The lock bolt that the box has is actually a simple trap. Those who create a key to open it are failing the test easily, as you need to use other ideas than the most obvious ones.

The problem of all the candidates is the second round, where most of the students manage to fail. As the description of the test says, the object has to be as complicated as it can, which people can't really do because of the huge energy loss. Some are passing out, others are finishing their work but not as they wished, ending it with problems or simply half done. So, of course, it is a problem that little CHE5TER has too now.

He stands a bit to wonder what could possibly make him pass the test, as it is a headache even to the most powerful people he knows in the city. Even the best students complain about how hard this test is. He stands and thinks, more and more... but he has no idea what to do while the clock is ticking. As time passes, he just remembers some sketches seen around the base while training with his master, and so he tries to replicate them, maybe even trying to do them better, though he never seen the devices in flesh ever in his life. But, in the end, it is worth a try.

So it doesn't take long before little CHE5TER is done with his rounds, only needing to see the evaluators so he can hear about his score, the mistakes he made and to present the object he has created for the final points, being the conclusion of his exam. He enters a room in which five people are standing, waiting for his arrival, while little CHE5TER is helped out by a man to move around because of his huge loss of energy that is affecting him at the moment. Before the man leaves, he stands a bit with the child to make sure he doesn't faint and gives him a few sips of some Energy Killers in the meantime to get back in his powers. He helps CHE5TER sit down on a chair that stands in front of the evaluators, then gives his regards to everyone and silently wishing the young student a small "good luck". So, CHE5TER remains alone with the five people that are looking at him, swallowing his drink to regain his lost power in the meantime.

[Evaluator1]-So, Mr. LENKOV... I think it's time to start talking about your results. Is it fine by you, or do you consider that you need some more time to clear up your mind?

[CHE5TER]-...It's alright. I will get back in my powers eventually. We can start the evaluation.

[Evaluator1]-Alright then. As you wish.

The evaluators start to look around the information they've noted on CHE5TER's performance, making some conclusions and then start informing the young boy.

[Evaluator1]-...So, the test that we would like to discuss about first will be your examination regarding the "Energy Consumption" Test.

[Evaluator2]-We... cannot say that we are so impressed about how you managed to open the box, as you aren't the first person who has used this strategy before. Many students have done the same, and I can say for all of us that we are quite bored of seeing the same technique to all the students. But... rules are rules, and we will give you the maximum points on the test, whether the technique was used before or not. We understand that it is not your fault, and we know that you've passed the test's requirements, so we will be fair with you and give you what you deserve.

[CHE5TER]-...Okay. I understand the problem now.

[Evaluator2]-Do not demotivate yourself though, little one. It's normal for people to have the same ideas sometimes, especially to a task that has been repeating itself for quite a while now. After all, everything you did was to rely on your knowledge alone, and we are proud of all of the students that do so.

[Evaluator3]-But now that we are done talking about that round... we should go to the next examination that you had to complete. We would like to see what you've thought of for the "Rebirth of Creativity" Test, if you do not mind. Do you have your creation with you?

So, when he hears the evaluators' words, CHE5TER takes out from his clothes a strange device, which doesn't seem something out of the ordinary. It looks similar to a simple metal stick what we would call, so of course the people present give him a weird look as they don't understand what's happening, thinking it might be a joke.

[Evaluator4]-...A stick?

[Evaluator2]-Mr. LENKOV, I'm not so sure of the fact that you understood the requirements. Your task was to create something extraordinary, something that might impress us all with the design it has and what might be its use. Are you sure this is what you've created for this test?

[CHE5TER]-...And with all due respect, I'm not so sure you've understood the fact that I didn't even start my presentation.

Everyone keeps silent looking at the boy that stands in front of them, nervous yet confident. CHE5TER looks at the woman that just talked to him waiting for her approval to start, so after she nods at him, just as he wished, he starts talking again.

[CHE5TER]-You see... the requirements of the test say that the object created by the student has to be as complicated as possible, right? And so I thought that the best way to make something complicated is to make it look as simple as possible in the first place. The... "stick"... as you called it... is a multifunctional device which can be used in battle by any soldier. Allow me to demonstrate.

He puts a finger on a specific place of the object and activates one of the many weapons of the device. The first one he shows is a sword, then after a few seconds of moving it around, he turns it into a bow, then a spear, and then even a gun, each having a complex design and easy to switch in between.

[CHE5TER]-The device can be used by any soldier as said, no matter the weapon they perform in a battle. Whether it is a melee weapon or a range weapon, it won't cause any kind of difficulty while using it on the field. Besides these, in an emergency, you can always activate the shield that the device has, a way of defending yourself from an unexpected enemy. And what I like about it the most is that it is activated by fingerprint, generating a small connection between the first user of it so that nobody can take it and use it against you.

And when he finishes his presentation, he throws the device into the air, making it disappear and transform into the energy he lost during the creation of it, a black mist, which he takes it all with his own hand so that the evaluators know it was his creation and that he didn't steal the object from the outside.

The people remain silent as they look at him though, saying nothing about his final score. He waits for an answer, but nobody dares to say a word yet. So, he looks disappointed as he notices the door opening, meaning that he has to leave without a conclusion and with a fear of not passing the exam.

Yet when he arrives outside the examination rooms, he is greeted by his brother who was waiting for him all this time to get everything done, waving at him so that CHE5TER can notice him and go towards his location to meet up and talk. Of course CHE5TER was looking a bit off since he wasn't so happy about the examination.

[CHE5TER]-Hey, RY4N...

[RY4N]-How was it??

[CHE5TER]-I'm not so sure... I mean, the first test they said that I took the maximum score, but at the second one they didn't even make a sound. I think I kind of ruined it by making the design of the object too simple at first...

[RY4N]-At least you have 500 points, right? It isn't that bad! If you get at least 250 points on the second one, you will pass the exam for sure!

But as they were staring at each other as if they wanted to jump at each other's throats, a loud noise appears in the whole area, almost as if it is intended to make everyone deaf. They all cover their ears as it is too loud, almost as if it is some kind of alarm.

[Student3]-I think you guys have to look at the right board!

So as all the people look, the board on the right changes its students in a blink of an eye. The one who was the first on the board now stands at the second spot, being replaced by somebody else. And looking up, the one who takes the position seems to be...

As they all read, everyone starts looking at the child that just took the position in a shock. He doesn't really notice that at first though, as CHE5TER stares at the board thinking that it is some kind of dream. RY4N looks at him excited, but he seems to continue to stare even so.

[RY4N]-You did it, CHE5TER! You showed them all!!

[Student1]-Impossible... How can he--

[RY4N]- --Suck my dick, son of a bitch!! You got what you deserved!! Don't you dare say a word now!!

But CHE5TER wasn't really responding, he continued to stare at the board as if he saw his entire life in front of his eyes. At this point, he isn't afraid, nor nervous about anything anymore. If he could do this on his own, he can do whatever he desires too. Or, well... that's how he thought at that moment.

Everyone starts going towards him, moving him around, cheering for his achievement, each student, all acclaiming the first ten-year-old who managed to get on the board of the graduates examination and the first person in the world to get a maximum score at both of the tests. But, he still doesn't move, he is still in a shock, trying to clear up his mind.

Rumours have spread everywhere in just some minutes, every single student knows about the event of today, about how a simple child just dethroned the first of the board and made history. So, of course everyone talks about it, no matter the age, even grown-ups, who heard from the students or simply happened to hear a few words. So, of course, this rumour got to everyone in the city just in a matter of few moments, even to the Council.

RY4N and CHE5TER already left the area of the examination though, as he got his diploma and he doesn't need to go to school anymore, he is now a graduate himself. Still, he doesn't know how exactly did he manage to do that in the first place, remaining still in a bit of shock.

[RY4N]-Aren't you happy, Brother? What's with that look?

[CHE5TER]-I'm more confused... I thought they didn't like it. Though I tried to make it as complicated as possible, the design itself was still pretty basic to me, and the ideas of the weapons came from some sketches that I saw at the base while training with my master.

[RY4N]-Yeah... But technically, you made the ideas even better! Maybe that's why they rewarded you this way. Actually, now that I think about it... this means I will be the only one who still has to go to school from now on?? You left me alone in that class, you monster!

[CHE5TER]-*chuckles*

But the happiness ends when the boys come again to them. This time though, they seem to be angry, really angry.

[Student1]-Hey, who do you think you are!? You come out of nowhere to the examination as a younger student and manage to get a full score from the first try!? I know something is off about you and I'm going to tell the evaluators that you've cheated!

[RY4N]-Just because he is better than any of you, doesn't mean he cheated! Get lost!

[Student1]-And who are you to speak for him, hm? His babysitter? Shut your mouth for once, I want to hear him speak for himself!

[RY4N]-...

At this point, RY4N was getting pissed off by this boy for good, enough for him to start an argument, or even a small fight, yet CHE5TER stops him before anything, but it wasn't fully him this time. Something was... off... And RY4N noticed it too.

...Show them all, CHE5TER! Bastards never learn!

[CHE5TER]-...I mean, if you guys think you are better than me, why don't you demonstrate it?

[Student1]-Oh, you've finally decided to speak? So what? You want to fight now?

[CHE5TER]-If that will keep your mouth shut, then so be it...

But as CHE5TER was starting to get close to the boys to beat them, RY4N stops him immediately and starts whispering.

[RY4N]-...CHE5TER, don't do this! It will get you in trouble! Our father will get mad at you again if he catches you fighting outside the training ground!

[CHE5TER]-It's okay, Brother. I'm not afraid of them. I'm not afraid of anything anymore.

So, in the end, they get in their position, seven versus one, an unfair fight for small CHE5TER... But he simply isn't afraid, he goes forward. He starts fighting with them all at the same time, using skills that he learnt from his master all these years. He knocks some down, but two manage to get close to him. Yet if it has to be an unfair fight, his brother couldn't let him do this alone, so he joins him, defending his back. They don't seem as they fought together before, but all the moves that they do make it seem as they were made for each other, two sides of the same coin. Even so, RY4N sure looks as he never fought before in his life.

Yet at some point, something happens. CHE5TER doesn't seem to be himself at all anymore, almost as if he has lost control completely, and as if something else does everything for him. His face is one that express no bit of mercy, as hate simply travels around, yet madness as well. Even his C colour lights up during this weird scene he is making. He is awfully joyful for something he shouldn't be at all when he beats one of the kids that got on the ground as if he was trying to kill him for good. Even RY4N notices it and tries to stop him, yet in vain since CHE5TER pushes him away and continues this charade.

Meanwhile though, talk about great timing... their father is searching for them as He heard the rumours too, wanting to congratulate His son for his achievement. As He comes closer and closer though, instead of the innocent kids He wished to greet, He finds a child scared and another one beating the shit out of some other kids. Not only that, but he notices a wild part of CHE5TER that moment too, a part that seems to enjoy the suffering of the guilty people. So, He jumps immediately in the fight to stop him the next second.

[M4TTH3W]-CHE5TER! CHE5TER, stop this nonsense immediately! CHE5TER!

He gets him by an arm and raises him a bit in the air so he can wake up to reality while He shouts at His son out of fear to get him his normality back. And when CHE5TER finally wakes up from those actions, his father's expression turns into disappointment, while the boy still tries to process what's happening, not knowing when this man even arrived, while his C colour's brightness fades away.

[CHE5TER]-Father...?

He got scared by the look that his father gave him. He knew he got in trouble for good this time. A kid was unconscious, two were on the ground barely moving, but at least none of them lost their immunity, so they aren't badly injured. It's only the impact of the punches and everything that hurts them. But in the end, he looks at his father as His face was full of anger.

[M4TTH3W]-We are going home! Now!

The Underground City

[M4TTH3W]-...I just can't understand what was in your mind, CHE5TER. How can you get yourself in a fight just because of the words they've said to you?

And as his father shouts at him, he keeps his mouth shut for the first time. He knows no matter what he does or says, He won't listen, nor anybody else.

He stands looking down as his father talks to him, seeming angry at the idea that there is no justice, which annoys him even more knowing well that his own father isn't by his side.

[CHE5TER]-...Maybe you don't understand that people need to be punished for their sick minds.

So as he said these words, he runs towards the door without looking back any second, opening the door quickly and wanting to leave, to run away from home.

[M4TTH3W]-CHE5TER, where do you think you are going!? Come back here! CHE5TER!

He doesn't listen to his father though, as he slams the door as hard as he can and runs away. Because of that action, a photo that was put near the door on a small table falls on the ground, breaking the glass it had. Then, RY4N runs after his brother to find him and get him back, leaving only the Great Leader behind, alone, looking at the broken photo of them all.

"...But what happens when an Error or the Original gets lost or even killed?"

[RY4N]-CHE5TER! CHE5TER!! Hold on!!Where are you even going??

[CHE5TER]-...I'm going in the City of Above, whether he likes it or not. At this point, I will never see it in my life.

[RY4N]-But it's dangerous out there!! Didn't you listen to him even a bit??

[CHE5TER]-I'm not afraid. I want to know the truth. I don't want his lies anymore, RY4N! Don't you see? No matter how hard I try, I would never see it! There will be always something that ruins my chances!

[RY4N]-B-But he will get worried, CHE5TER!

[CHE5TER]-I don't care! I want to see that city no matter what it costs me! If you don't want to come, just stay with him and tell him that I will be back in a few hours!

So the two boys have found themselves in the City of Above, hiding in the darkness of the tall buildings, as they don't seem to climb them that easily as the buildings in their city. CHE5TER is wearing a wig and some contact lenses, as he is still a C born and everyone says that they are hunted in this city, so he needs to hide his true appearance from all the others now. They admire the city together, as it is not comparing to their city at all. It's how his father described him: a beautiful and larger city, with light everywhere and a real sky with two bright suns. Nothing of what they ever saw before.

Then, they notice some strange men, walking through a building, so, as curious as they are because of their age, they follow them, walking in the shadows. In a few minutes later, they found themselves entering the building, unnoticed by anyone.

[RY4N]-I have a bad feeling about this, CHE5TER...

[CHE5TER]-Just shut up, okay?

They keep following these men until they stop somewhere at a door. Some enter, but three remain behind, talking to each other.

[MSoldier1]-So, how was your day, gentlemen?

[MSoldier2]-Eh, nothing special as always. I mean, I caught some of those brats a few hours ago but I'm still a bit bored of this job already. Seems like a never-ending loop.

[MSoldier3]-Oh, come on! Don't be like that, buddy! We are the ones who save this world from these monsters in the end. We are the heroes, how can you tell me this job is boring?

[MSoldier2]-Yeah... I don't know, man. It just feels tiring at some point. New day, same old C people hiding from us 'cause they know they are guilty. It's just boring catching them all the time.

[MSoldier1]-Well, at least the General appreciates what we are doing, and I think that's something you should be proud of.

...And as they heard the conversation, RY4N looks scared to CHE5TER who was listening to them, and he, too, got a bit moved.

[RY4N]-...Didn't they say they catch people like you? Wouldn't that mean that--

[CHE5TER]- --they are soldiers of the M... We have to get out of here! Now!

But as they tend to leave, someone from behind who was close to them comes and starts to be suspicious.

[DU5TIN]-...Who the hell are you?

[CHE5TER]-...Shit!

[RY4N]-O-Oh, hey... um... W-We are... some explorers and we visit random buildings in the city! Can you give us a tour to... you know... the exit? W-We got... lost.

[DU5TIN]-...?

The boy was young, something similar to their age. Probably an M born, dark hair and blue eyes. He was looking at them confused hearing RY4N's explanation, so CHE5TER tries to save their butts.

[CHE5TER]-Okay, he is a bad liar... Look, we've entered here by mistake and we want to get out, so if you PLEASE help us leave this building?

[MSoldier1]-...What was that?

Yet, a soldier seems to have heard them a bit and starts to move towards their direction to investigate. The boys beg the other kid to help them silently when they see this, while he looks strange to them. So as the man approaches closer and closer, he finally looks behind the wall he heard the noise, only for him to see the small M kid.

[MSoldier1]-...Oh, little DU5TIN. What are you doing here?

[DU5TIN]-General C4E5AR told me to inform you that you have to go to the north area of the city as there are rumours of C borns living there, so I came here in search for you.

[MSoldier1]-I see... Thank you, DU5TIN. We will go there soon. You can go back to whatever you were doing.

As the man leaves, the two brothers leave their hiding spot which was in a crack of a wall hidden from everyone, crack which the little M born help them find. And when they finally left the hiding spot for good, the kid looks at both of them and makes them a sign to follow him.

[DU5TIN]-Let's go.

They managed in the end to exit the building safely while being guided by little DU5TIN. The two brothers were walking very close to each other, but DU5TIN was keeping a bit of distance between him and them. Maybe because they are still strangers, not friends or people that he might know. He guides them somewhere far away from the building to not be seen, even preferable for him to leave them in a blind spot for the cameras.

[RY4N]-DU5TIN, right?

[DU5TIN]-Yep.

[RY4N]-Thank you again for helping us.

[CHE5TER]-Mm... you seem a bit young to work with the soldiers, don't you think?

[RY4N]-Look who has decides to speak!

[CHE5TER]-Lalalallala, I can't hear you!!!

As they talk, they arrive at a dark area of an abandoned street, where DU5TIN wants to leave them go back to their own business without causing trouble again. It's a perfect spot, actually. No cameras and nobody around to notice their presence. But they sure don't forget to talk for a few more minutes.

[DU5TIN]-I still don't understand how you guys managed to get into a military base without getting caught. Are you trained spies or something?

[CHE5TER]-Technically... we still got caught by you.

[RY4N]-It's simply that this idiot wanted to explore some unknown areas to him and woke himself in that building, and of course, as his brother, I had to follow him!

[CHE5TER]-Hey!

While saying this sentence, RY4N hits him on the back so that he can realise he is simply childish and he needs to stop doing things like this all the time. But then, DU5TIN looks at CHE5TER with fear.

[CHE5TER]-Why did you even hit me!?

[RY4N]-'Cause you are an idiot!

[CHE5TER]-Yeah, yeah... Look in the mirror when we arrive home!

[DU5TIN]-Y-You...

[CHE5TER+RY4N]-Huh?

[DU5TIN]-...Y-You a-are a C b-born!

And with the little M born's words being spoken, CHE5TER gets panicked as he hears them. It seems that one of his contact lenses dropped off when RY4N hit him apparently, revealing his voothrav eye. DU5TIN gets in his position, close to taking his weapon out of fear, while CHE5TER tries only to show him that he is no enemy. But as he moves his hands over and over again, he notices on his arm the sign of the Error that he was born with. Before, the sign was lighting only on two parts of it: the part from the above and the part from the right. The part from the above is RY4N, the one who had to be born that day, the so-called "Original", and the right one is the Error, which is him, CHE5TER. But now, another part lights on the sign too, maybe for the first time: the left Error.

He looks at DU5TIN who was ready to knock him at any point, but he doesn't hesitate in getting close to him. DU5TIN notices that, and he puts his hand on a gun he has with him in order to prepare to shoot him, but CHE5TER gets his arm, stopping him from doing anything, then looks at his hand.

[RY4N]-CHE5TER, what are you doing??? We have to run, now!!

[DU5TIN]-L-Let me go, you m-monster!

He looks deeply in his eyes as he is confused, more than he could ever be. CHE5TER never thought that the left Error is alive, let alone if it even existed, but now it was in front of his eyes. And all he did was to say one word.

[CHE5TER]-...Brother?

DU5TIN looked at him shocked, confused, scared, every kind of emotion that he was fighting now. What did he mean? Who knows. But before anybody could say another word, RY4N took CHE5TER by a hand and started running with him back to the hidden entrance from where they came from. DU5TIN was only looking at them leave, while CHE5TER was looking back at him too. He didn't understand anything. Why didn't the C born kill him? Why did he call him "brother"? Then he looked at his hand too, noticing the light of the part of the above and the right part being there for the first time, but slowly fading away.

The Underground City

So when they arrive in their city, the two boys walk around together, CHE5TER looking down as he doesn't understand what happened this day. It was like he was dreaming all this time, blocked in another world, yet RY4N was simply looking at him worried. As they walk, their father sees them from far away, as He searched for them all this time. So, He runs towards them and takes them both in His arms, giving a small sigh of relief.

[M4TTH3W]-Oh, thank dear heavens, you are alright... I've been so worried! Where have you both been!?

He looks at His children as none of them responds, but then He notices the look on CHE5TER's face that seems strange to Him.

[M4TTH3W]-...CHE5TER, what is it? Are you still mad at me?

But as CHE5TER finally looks into His eyes, He sees maybe a memory, but if it was so, it didn't seem to belong to Him. A man, standing in front of Him, with a serious face almost as if it was emotionless, a scar on half of it, face that He simply doesn't recognise, yet it seems so familiar to Him. Was it a memory of someone else?

[CHE5TER]-...Why didn't you tell us that we have another brother?

[M4TTH3W]-...

[CHE5TER]-Why didn't you tell us that we have another brother, Father?

For some reason, even the Great Leader fears this unknown face, the words only making it worse. If this face can make Him fear it, then who knows what that person is capable of?

[M4TTH3W]-*sigh* Because I feared that one day you will go and find him in the wilderness... But it has come to this day that you already found him on your own. What were you doing in the City of Above...?

[CHE5TER]-...

His face remains serious, he won't answer to his own father until he gets the responses he wishes to know. So, his father takes a huge breath and starts explaining everything.

[M4TTH3W]-...What you are saying is true. There is another Error from your code that was born as an M... and which I couldn't take to be your brother.

[CHE5TER]-...

[M4TTH3W]-When I... took you... I was in a mission in the City of Above on my own. The mission was going pretty well I would say... but then something simply called for me and led me to you. I... didn't know what was it, and I still don't know, but it was like a voice telling me what to do. And when I got closer to the area in which you were put, I... heard... a newborn cry for the first time in my life. It was so strange for me that sound, as newborns aren't suppose to even be awake at all until they gain their consciousness months later. And that newborn was you, CHE5TER... The first newborn to ever cry... Or at least as far as I know.

And so, it seems that CHE5TER got pretty confused from his father's words, to hear that he is different than all the others, to hear that he was the only newborn that cried or which had gained consciousness the moment he was born. He doesn't remember anything though, of course, because he was so young and it was long time ago.

[M4TTH3W]-...When I finally arrived next to you, I was simply watching that strange newborn that was crying in front of my very own eyes, making me more confused by each second. So, curiosity was killing me slowly, and I put my hand gently to feel you, maybe thinking that you were an illusion. But it was true... You were there in front of me, an Error of the code with his hand having a low light alongside the sign of his Original, and only the gods know why were you crying... But I took you in my arms to calm you down, only then to realise that an alarm was going on for some good time, yet I didn't hear it before that moment at all. The next minutes... I somehow found myself being chased down by something which was searching for this crying newborn. I don't even know what it was, it looked like a machine, yet it was way more complicated than that... So, I started running and searching for the other newborns of your code, finding your brother here, RY4N, guided by the light on your arm. But when it was for me to find the other Error, that thing was catching up with me way too quickly, making me unable to search for that newborn and having to leave forced if I didn't want to get caught.

CHE5TER couldn't even believe a word, as if it was another tale that his father was telling him, but he didn't believe it because he didn't trust Him, the story was simply unbelievable. Though in His eyes, he doesn't see any sign of lying, rather, he was reading fear in them. Why was he crying and why was that thing coming for him in the first place anyway? If it was because he is an Error, Errors are something normal, as the hidden machine that creates these beings has its problems being so old, or simply the code itself is having an error. And if it wasn't for this reason, then it still don't explain his crying.

[M4TTH3W]-The moment I arrived back at the city, I took you both with me and raised you as my own children. Later on, I found out about the sign you have on your neck, which I told you to hide from the public eye for now. At first, I didn't know what it represents myself... but now I can just tell you that this is what makes you special, CHE5TER. I... don't have answers to any of your questions that you might have now though, but I know one day you will find the true meaning behind it on your own. So, please... forgive me, Son...

CHE5TER looks in his father's eyes, he feels better this time, but still, he would like to have the answers now, as there are still holes to this whole story that this man is telling. And yet, He speaks again.

[M4TTH3W]-Now... what were you doing in the City of Above?

[CHE5TER]-Yeah, you just killed everything...

The City of Above

But now, it seems that the little M kid looks at his hand for hours now, still not understanding the events that have happened today either. He looks again and again to the sign on the hand with the light that has faded completely ever since the boys left, maybe trying to light it up again, as he thinks that maybe it was something he did in particular that caused that reaction. And in front of him... seems to be the General of the above, standing on a chair and analysing this confused child.

[C4E5AR]-DU5TIN, you were quiet these past hours. Something on your mind?

[DU5TIN]-...It's nothing, Master C4E5AR.

[C4E5AR]-Don't tell me it is nothing. You've been staring at your hand this whole time. Something bothers you for sure.

[DU5TIN]-Master... What do... these signs mean?

So, he shows the General his hand in which he has the sign of the left Error which represents him, alongside the other two of the Original and the right Error.

[C4E5AR]-Well, I do not own any kind of sign like these ones, but knowing people that had them, I assume they are the connection of the same code of the people who were born with it. You either are soulmates, best friends, or even siblings until Death comes and knocks on your door. Depending on how you see it, of course.

[DU5TIN]-...So it means that I have two siblings?

[C4E5AR]-Probably... But why this question all of a sudden?

[DU5TIN]-I just... feel strange about its existence without a meaning behind. I didn't see people having it at all.

[C4E5AR]-That's because it is rare for it to happen. But... everyone has something they hate about themselves, a small sign isn't that strange in our world after all. Who knows, maybe one day you will meet these siblings of yours if they aren't already dead.

The little boy looks at his hand, thinking about the two kids of his age that he met today, knowing now that he is related to a C born, a person that his people are trying to find and execute at all cost, one that is called a monster, a demon, a killer, everything bad you could think of... And yet, the kid he met wasn't what his kind describes at all. He was a simple being in his eyes, one that tries to survive like all the others.
