03. Hiss hiss

SYBBYL SLOWLY CAME TO HER SENSES AS SHE STARTED TO WAKE UP. Her eyes fluttered open and she groaned when she began to move her body, muscles aching but strangely no pain from the stabbing.

"Good morning sunshine" Loki smiled down at Sybbyl.

She groaned and closed her right eye when the light was too bright. "What-" her voice is hoarse. She cleared her throat and opened her eye, already adjusting to the light. "What happened?"

"You fainted because you pushed yourself until your body shut down. Fortunately, Maalot arrived on time and gave Heimdall an antidote and gave you an elixir" Loki explained.

Sybbyl groaned once again as she slowly sat up and moved her hand to her side where she was stabbed by Hela. Her warm fingers came in contact with soft skin and not deep and ugly wound. She pulled her shirt up and saw that there's no wound, only traces of blood and a large scar as a souvenir.

"See? All better and ready to continue the fight" Loki smiled.

She put her shirt down. "How's Heimdall?"

"He's fine. No permanent damage. You saved him" Loki nodded. "Which is a shame. His death really would've fueled Thor's thirst for revenge"

Sybbyl narrowed her eyes at him but said nothing. All she can think about is how she's finally better and not in any pain. She can breathe without wincing, she can move without stabbing pains, she can look around and see that she's not in the same room in the Avengers compound. She took in the interior of the room, the metal walls, the arches, the seats against the wall, a low hum in the background.

"Where are we?" She turned to Loki.

"We're on Maalot's ship with Banner and his friends, and we're on our way to a place called Wakanda" he informed. "Apparently someone there can help Vision with the stone on his head. Then we'll destroy it and Thanos will taste defeat!"

"Did you suffer a blow to the head? Why are you so excited about this?" Sybbyl asked.

"You're not excited to see what Thor will do? I mean he threw Hela the biggest lightning bolt he's ever summoned, imagine what he'll do now! My brother is great" Loki smirked.

"We've known each other since we were children and this is probably the first time I hear you happily call Thor your brother...the end times are here" she mumbled the last part. She pushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear and felt how crusty it is, caked with blood, dirt and sweat. She took her silver diadem off and slid it back on, pushing the hair back and out of her face. Her hands are still stained with blood and when she reached to touch her face, she felt no tenderness or cuts.

"If I die you can have my knives" Loki began to say. This pulled Sybbyl out of her trance and she gave Loki a funny look.

"What's that now?" She questioned.

"I want my funeral to be grand. I want everyone crying!"

Loki began to list his requests for his funeral and all Sybbyl could do was sit in bed and roll her eyes in annoyance. Of course the man has his whole funeral planned out. Why wouldn't he?

"So, you're from space" Sam Wilson casually told Maalot who's checking something on the screens in her ship. She has the ship on autopilot so she's walking around while the Avengers are doing the looking around since that's their first time in a spaceship.

"Everyone's from space" Maalot answered and tapped something on the screen.

"She's not wrong" Bruce agreed with the woman.

"What I mean is that you're from another planet" Sam said.

"So are you" she pointed out. Sam frowned.

"Are you from Asgard like the others?" Natasha asked.

"No. I'm from Zetania" she answered.

"Where's that?" Wanda curiously asked.

"Just outside the nine realms" Maalot turned to face the group of people. "You know, this is my first time on your planet"

"Sorry you had to come at a time like this" Steve mumbled, arms folded across his chest as he leaned against the wall.

"There's always times like these across the universe" Maalot truthfully answered. "Some planets make it, others don't"

"Was your planet attacked by Thanos?" Natasha asked.

"No. But I know people who've been affected by him, and very strong people who've stood up to him" she smirked. "But he's on his way here and we have to prepare"

"You're going to help us?" Vision asked in shock.

"He attacked an Asgardian refugee ship" Heimdall spoke up from the chair he sat. "They were families, not soldiers. He and the Black Order killed defenseless people and we weren't his first attack. He's been attacking planets and wiping out half of its population and with the infinity stones he can do just that with a simple snap of his fingers. So if there's a way to destroy that stone" he motioned at the orange stone in Vision's forehead "then we should do it"

There was a silence in the ship, aside from the soft hum in the background. They haven't encountered Thanos but they did face off some members of the Black Order. They're tough and ruthless and they can't even imagine the size of Thanos' army and the destruction he can cause. They don't even know how Thanos looks like but by the sound it, he sounds absolutely horrible.

"I also bequeath you my majestic cape as long as Sif doesn't use it to mock me in my death" the sound of Loki's voice bounced off the walls as he got closer to them. "And I leave Thor my books because that oaf needs to educate and culture himself. And also, I know you don't-"

"Loki, we barely made it out of Asgard with the clothes on our back. How are you leaving all your possessions to all these people?" Sybbyl asked in exasperation.

"Uh" Loki gave a nervous chuckle "I managed to save all my possessions from my psychotic sister"

"Oh, I see. So while she was stabbing me you made sure to save your precious books? I almost died!"

"But you didn't!" Loki grinned. "As I was saying, I leave you my golden helmet. I know you don't want it, but Brunnhilde does"

Sybbyl rolled her eyes and turned to the group of people on the ship. "Someone please push him out of the ship"

"I can do that" Rhodey offered. Loki narrowed his eyes at him.

"Hello everyone" Sybbyl addressed the group when she saw them there. The same group of people that were in the compound when she arrived. "Thor has told me everything about you. I've heard the stories"

"What stories are those?" Steve asked, right brow arched.

"Careful, Steve, we might not like what we hear" Rhodey warned.

"He's told you about us but he's never even mentioned you" Natasha noted.

Sybbyl smirked. "Well, the best people are always kept secret. Now have we arrived at our destination? Are we close yet because I have someone to kill" she clenched her fist, her nails digging into her skin.

"Yeah, we also have aliens to kill" Wanda said through gritted teeth, remembering what happened in Edinburgh.

"Fine. But no one touches Proxima Midnight...that bitch is mine" Sybbyl clenched her jaw.

"Uh, we don't exactly ask for their names when we met the first-time round, so who's Proxima Midnight?" Sam asked Sybbyl.

"Big angry woman with a three-pronged spear" she quickly informed. "So if you fought her and want payback, then too bad. Whatever grudge you have against her, mine is bigger"

After all, Sybbyl Torunndottir told Proxima Midnight she'll kill her last.

"I'm sorry about what happened to Asgard" Maalot told Sybbyl, Heimdall and Loki as the Avengers started to exit the ship since they made it to Wakanda.

"It's just a place" Sybbyl smiled sadly. A place she was born and raised. It was her home, the only home she's ever known and now her family is out there with nothing but the clothes they're wearing.

"The important thing is that the people are safe" Heimdall said. Sybbyl nodded in agreement.

"Where are they?" Maalot questioned.

"Sybby got them out of there" Loki spoke up.

"The ones I could save" Sybbyl mumbled. "Sif and Brunnhilde will take care of them"

"Who's Brunnhilde?" Maalot asked. She's known Sybbyl for many years, they have the same circle of friends but she's never heard of someone called Brunnhilde.

"She's a Valkyrie" Heimdall said.

"I thought they all died"

"This one didn't. So the refugees are safe. Now let's go help these humans. Let's face it, they need our help" Loki turned on his heel and began to walk out.

The remaining three shared a look, grabbed their weapons and exited the ship. Sunlight beamed down on them, the light catching on Sybbyl's silver diadem. She didn't have time to look around because- well quite frankly there's no time to do that, but from what she did feel bloody and dusty from battle.

"You can catch up with your lover later" Loki told Steve as he hugged his best friend, Bucky Barnes. "Thanos is coming and we need to prepare"

"He's right, humans. Focus" Maalot agreed with Loki.

"Did she just call us humans?" Okoye questioned.

"Well you are humans! Do you wanna know who created you?" She smirked. The group of people was quiet for a moment.

"What kind of Prometheus shit is this?" Sam frowned.

"Aren't you Loki?" T'Challa turned to the man dressed in black and green. "The man who attacked New York eight years ago?"

Loki smiled. "Finally, some recognition"

"Yeah, he's on our side now" Bruce spoke up.

"And depending how this battle will turn out, I'll switch to the winning side" Loki said.

"Snake" Sybbyl spat.

"Hiss hiss" Loki smirked.

"The structure is polymorphic" Shuri softly said when she saw the hologram over her hand.

"Right, we had to attach each neuron non-sequentially" Bruce told Shuri.

"Why didn't you just reprogram the synapses to work collectively?" Shuri asked. Vision, who's laying on the table, looked over at Bruce, silently asking him the same question.

"Because we...didn't think of it" Bruce shyly said.

"I'm sure you did your best" Shuri smiled.

Sybbyl, Loki, Heimdall and Maalot stood around the table along with the rest of the Avengers. They watched as Shuri and Bruce talked about Vision, but Heimdall is looking beyond that. His orange eyes are staring straight ahead as he can see Thanos' army approaching. They're here.

"They're here" Heimdall interrupted. Heads turned to the man who has his sword in hand and staring off into the distance.

"What?" Steve asked.

"They're here" he repeated himself and looked at everyone in the room.

"Well, I don't know what was going to happen here, but I'm sure you can do it fast" Sybbyl told Shuri.

"It will take time" Shuri informed.

"How long?" Steve asked.

"As long as you can give me" she said.

Okoye's kimono beads trilled and a soft alarm beeped in the room. "Something's entered the atmosphere"

"They're coming down!" Heimdall announced as he walked out of the room. Maalot followed him, leaving Sybbyl and Loki with the others.

"Hey, Cap, we got a situation here" Sam said through the comms. The voice in Sybbyl's ear startled her and she gave a small jump. Steve gave them comms which she finds really weird because she's never used anything like it before.

"This feels weird" Sybbyl admitted and rubbed her ear. "Can everyone hear me?"

"Yes" Sam replied.

Several dropships crashed down in and around Wakanda. Everyone outside and inside the palace saw the ships outside the dome and worry crept on their faces.

"It's too late. We need to destroy the stone now" Vision began to sit up and get off the table.

"Vision, get your ass back on the table" Natasha turned from the window.

"We will hold them off" T'Challa said.

"Wanda, as soon as that stone is out of his head you blow it to hell" Steve told Wanda.

"I will" she nodded.

"Evacuate the city" T'Challa gave orders as he walked through the room. "Engage all defenses and get this man a shield" he pointed at Steve.

While everyone began to prepare for battle, Sybbyl and Loki stared out the window and eyed the dropships that contain who knows what. Sybbyl chewed her bottom lip and she scanned the area where the fight will happen, already planning out some strategies.

"I blame you" she told Loki before walking away.

"You don't get my cape!" Loki yelled after her.

"Then there will be no one in your funeral, Loki!" She yelled back.

"NO!"
