01. We have a Hulk

"THIS IS THE ASGARDIAN REFUGEE VESSEL STATESMAN. We are under assault. I repeat, we are under assault. The engines are dead, life support failing. Requesting aid from any vessel within range. We are 22 jump points out of Asgard. Our crew is made up of Asgardian families! We have very few soldiers here! This is not a war craft. I repeat, this is not a war craft."

Sybbyl Torunndottir quickly made her way to the room where the Asgardian man is speaking over the radio. He's leaving a distress call where hopefully someone out there will hear it and help them. Hopefully before they're all killed. But Sybbyl won't let that happen. Enough Asgardian blood has been spilled. First, it was that whole ordeal with Hela and just moments after they kill her and leave their destroyed planet, they're attacked by none other than Thanos and the Black Order.

These past couple of days haven't been the best.

"Come on!" Sybbyl called out for the man in the room. He turned to face her and then turned back again to tell the people hiding in there to come out and follow him. Two families came from hiding and Sybbyl checked her surroundings.

The ship is destroyed, inside and out. Fire is happening in some parts of the ship but they're small and controlled. Bodies laid on the floor where Thanos and the Black Order killed innocent and defenseless Asgardians. They're not soldiers. They're families. Families who up to a couple of days ago had a perfectly happy life on Asgard. Sure, Loki was impersonating Odin and Thor was off somewhere, but they were happy, they were safe. Now they're scared, and injured and homeless. Their home was destroyed and now they must make new lives on Earth. If they're even lucky enough to escape.

"Everyone stay close to me." Sybbyl instructed the families as she adjusted her grip on her bow and arrow. She raised it slightly before her and took the path she used to get to that part of the ship.

She heard whimpers and screams. Her blood boiled at the sound of her people suffering. She's an Asgardian warrior, her duty is to protect the people of Asgard and she can't do that right now, not without putting others at risk, not without the help of more soldiers. It's like the distress call says, there are very few soldiers there and a lot of families to protect.

Sybbyl tried not to wince when she felt pain on her side. Earlier she was stabbed by Hela on the left side of her abdomen and on her leg. She bandaged the wounds but they're fresh, blood slowly trickling out of the wounds. She carefully walked around the fallen and she heard the gasps and whimpers of the families behind her. It's a horrible sight but there's no other way to the evacuation ship at the back of the ship.

"Stay with me" she called over her shoulder once she noticed they're staying behind. They picked up the pace but slowed down when Sybbyl came to a stop at a corner. She pressed her back against the wall, poked her head out and when she saw it's clear, she looked back over at the people and motioned them to follow her. She still kept her weapons drawn so when she heard approaching footsteps, she swiftly turned right and raised the bow and arrow.

"An arrow in the head isn't really how I want to go" Brunnhilde told Sybbyl as she held her hands up to her shoulders. Sybbyl sighed and lowered the bow. She looked behind the woman and saw a handful of scared people, children clinging onto their parents.

"Sorry" Sybbyl apologized.

"No worries" Brunnhilde assured. Her eyes darted behind the woman and to the dark and destroyed hallway where voices can be heard on the other side. "We should get going" she said, eyes still on the hallway.

Heavy rocky footsteps we're heard coming down a hall and the two women turned with their weapons held up for an attack, but when they saw who it is, they lowered their weapons. "You're alive!" Korg exclaimed.

"Shh!" Sybbyl and Brunnhilde shushed the Kronan. "They'll hear you"

"Sorry" Korg lowered his voice to a whisper "you're alive! We thought well, since it took you a long time to return, we thought you were killed, or worse!"

"What's worse than being killed?" Sybbyl questioned.

Korg opened his mouth to answer but Brunnhilde quickly put a stop to it. "If we stay here and chat, then we will be killed"

"Or worse" Sybbyl quietly added.

Brunnhilde heard her and threw a glare in her direction. "Let's go" she said once more and this time everyone moved.

They only took one or two turns before reaching the escape ship. Brunnhilde knocked on the door and in two seconds it slid open to reveal Lady Sif and the remaining Asgardians. They ushered the families inside to join the rest of the refugees.

"Are they all?" Sif asked them.

"Yes" the women nodded.

"Alright, we have to go now" she told urgently them. Korg stepped inside, as did Brunnhilde but Sybbyl looked back and she worried about Thor and Loki and Heimdall and Bruce. Last she saw them they were still alive and fighting. Is it right to leave them behind? Thor is their king now, his duty is to protect his people so he would want them to escape, even if that means leaving him behind. But he's her friend. They're her friends. She just can't leave them behind.

"Sybbyl?" Sif called.

Sybbyl turned back around and looked apologetic. "I have to go. They can't stay behind. We can't leave them"

"We don't have any other choice" Brunnhilde told Sybbyl. "Besides you heard Thor when Thanos attacked, take the people to safety. We're doing that. We're taking them to safety"

"I know" she nodded. "And I'm not asking you to stay. I'm telling you, I can't leave them. They're my friends"

"And what are they to us? Roasted ducks?" Sif sarcastically said.

"That's not what I meant Sif"

"Sybbyl, you stay you die" Brunnhilde tried to make her see reason. Every second they spend there is a risk of being found and killed. They should've been gone by now.

"We leave, they die" Sybbyl pressed. "Thor is the king of Asgard, if something happens to him, Loki is next in line. And it doesn't matter if he isn't Asgardian! You leave and take them to safety, I'll stay. There's an escape pod. I'll use it"

Brunnhilde and Sif remained in silence. Sybbyl may be one of Asgard's greatest warriors, but sometimes she's too stubborn. They don't know if that'll protect her or kill her. But so far it's protecting her.

"I still think you're going to get yourself killed" Brunnhilde commented.

"If I die, you get my sword. Sif gets my bow" Sybbyl smiled.

"I really do like that bow" Sif smirked.

"So are we leaving or...?" Korg spoke up.

"We're leaving, she's staying. Make sure the ship is ready" Sif told Korg. He nodded and walked away to make sure everything is running smoothly.

"Don't get yourself killed" was all Brunnhilde said before turning and joining Korg at the front of the ship.

Sif stared at Sybbyl longingly and with soft eyes. "Please don't die" she whispered. Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg are dead. Killed by Hela when she arrived at Asgard. The only reason Sif is still alive was because she was in the cave with Heimdall and the refugees. She can't afford to lose anyone else. Especially not Sybbyl.

"I won't" Sybbyl assured. She took a step closer to Sif, reaching out to gently cup her face which she inspected. Small cuts and bruises from the fighting in Asgard and the Statesman. She can only assume her face is the same, with cuts and bruises and a bit of blood on the side of her head. Sybbyl and Sif met halfway when they both leaned in for a kiss. Their lips connected and in that short, soft and sweet kiss, they poured their love.

They're each other's love of their life and they don't know what they'll do if something bad happens to either one of them. And they don't ever want to know.

"I love you" they both whispered when they pulled apart. There wasn't time for anything else, they had to go. Doors closed, the remaining refugees escaped, Sif has gone with them while Sybbyl decided to stay behind and do whatever she can to help her friends. She just hopes she isn't too late.

Sybbyl can hear them. She can hear them talking, she heard Thor scream in pain, she heard Loki yell at Thanos to stop. She heard and saw them from a safe distance. She's hiding behind some rubble and she saw Heimdall laying on the ground, injured and panting. The Black Order standing around staring at Thanos who's holding an injured Thor by the head. Loki stood in front of them with the tesseract in his hand.

Sybbyl shook her head at the man. Of course he would take it. Why does it surprise her? She's known them since they were children. Loki's antics shouldn't surprise her anymore but sometimes they do. Like when she found out that Loki was impersonating Odin. It didn't take long for her to figure it out. She knows Loki and Odin didn't have the best relationship, so when he ordered statues to be made in honor of Loki she knew something was up. Either he was under a spell or Loki is pretending to be the Allfather. Again, she shouldn't have been shocked and surprised but she was. Loki has always been one for tricks.

"I assure you brother...the sun will shine on us again" Loki told Thor as he slowly approached Thanos with the tesseract in hand.

Thanos chuckled at Loki's words. "Your optimism is misplaced Asgardian"

Loki gently pulled back the tesseract so he can see Thanos in the face. "Well, for one thing, I'm not Asgardian. And for another, we have a Hulk"

Hulk came roaring in as he launched himself at Thanos and they flew to the other end of the room. Loki threw himself out of the way and to Thor where they got out of the way of danger as Thanos and Hulk began to fight. Sybbyl wanted nothing more than to get out of there with her friends intact, but she sees no way of doing so without a fight, and by the shape of them, all bloodied, bruised, and weary from battle with Hela, there's no way they'll make it out.

From where she stands she can see Hulk and Thanos fighting, and her new green friend seems to be doing pretty good, that is until Thanos managed to overpower him. In a few seconds Hulk was on the ground with Thanos standing over him.

"Come on Greeny" Sybbyl whispered. "Get up, get up" but he didn't. He stayed on the floor, obviously groggy from the hits he just took.

Then in a moment Sybbyl didn't see coming, Thor slammed a piece of metal against Thanos' head but it didn't do much to hurt him. Thanos kicked Thor in the stomach and the man flew back. Ebony Maw smoothly moved his hands in the air where he moved scraps of metal to restrain Thor.

If Sybbyl is going to do something she better act fast. If she stands on the sidelines any longer then who knows what'll happen.

"Allfathers..." She heard Heimdall pant out. She looked down at him where he's still laying on the ground with his sword in hand. "Let the dark magic flow through me one last time" he opened a bifrost bridge to send Hulk back to earth. Everyone stood by as they saw it happen, Hulk's body being lifted and quickly flew out with the bridge.

"That was a mistake" Thanos told Heimdall as he held a spear in his hand and held it above his chest.

It was muscle memory to dive in when someone is in harm's way on the battlefield. Years of training and fighting, years of saving and protecting. She didn't even know what she was doing until she felt the spear come in contact with her bow as she held it out to protect Heimdall.

It was sort of an out of body experience. She saw herself running to the man on the ground, throwing herself on him and holding out the bow, so when Thanos brought the spear down, it hit the bow. Metal against metal. Now it's time to see if Sybbyl can hold Thanos back. In a power struggle, Sybbyl swiftly moved the bow up the spear and gave it a hard twist causing the spear to fly out of Thanos' hand and clunk on the ground.

Enraged by this woman who swooped in without even seeing her, he raised his foot and began to bring it down to step on her. Sybbyl quickly turned the bow so it's now aimed at Thanos' foot, pulled on the string where a bow magically appeared. She swiftly let go it and the arrow pierced through the titan's foot. A clean shot through and through.

"It slipped?" She lamely offered. Thanos kicked her to the side and she landed in front of Thor. "Ow" she groaned.

Proxima Midnight stood nearby so she walked over to the woman on the ground and kicked the bow out of her hand. Sybbyl pursed her lips and went up to attack but quickly fell back in pain when Proxima applied pressure to the wound on the left side of her abdomen. She pressed her three-pronged spear on the open wound causing blood to ooze out and a horrible squishiness was heard.

She screamed in pain. It was unbearable. It shot through her abdomen and concentrated on the wound. It's like fire, burning her insides. The sharp blade Hela drove in her was cold and she can feel the tingle of coldness. It's a lingering feeling and Sybbyl gasped. She placed her shaky hands on the spear and with the strength she has left, pushed the spear away from her, but Proxima overpowered her and dug the spear in deeper making the wound bigger and adding two new wounds.

"I will kill you last" Sybbyl panted. "I'm going to make you watch me kill your friends and you won't be able to do anything." Proxima smirked and pressed the spear in deeper. Sybbyl gasped for breath and she felt her hands loosen around the spear, her arms began to go limp and the life slowly left her eyes. "I'm going to...kill you last...P-P-" blood trickled from the corner of her mouth and her last breaths left her. "Proxima...Midnight"

Her limp arms fell and her dim eyes are unfocused, her mouth is slightly agape and her body, although warm, is dead. Thor stared in horror as his friends were killed in front of him and there was nothing he could do.

"You'll have to be alive for that" Proxima muttered and pulled the bloodied spear out of Sybbyl's body.

Sybbyl and Heimdall are dead.

The Statesman is falling apart. The purple mist engulfed the ship as it slowly began to pull it apart, the purple energy putting pressure on areas of the ship causing them to explode. Thanos had used the power stone to destroy the ship and escaped with the Black Order by using the space stone.

Three figures limped down a hall of the ship that's falling apart. They whimpered and winced at their injuries but they made they're nearing the escape pod just up ahead. If only they could all walk then they would've been on their way by now.

"This is a terrible idea" Sybbyl groaned.

"It's the only idea where we don't get killed" Loki hissed.

"Terrible idea" Heimdall agreed with Sybbyl and winced in pain. The man stood between Loki and Sybbyl, his arms thrown around their shoulders for support, while their arms are around his waist to hold him up. In her free hand, Sybbyl is holding Heimdall's sword. He's too weak to walk so they're doing their best to help him and get the hell out of there.

A part of the wall came off, leaving a hole where they can see into the next room. The purple mist has engulfed the entire ship and it's only a matter of minutes before all the pressured energy has nowhere to go and the ship explodes.

"Will you two shut it?" Loki gave them a dirty look. "I didn't spend all those years teaching Sybbyl magic only for her to call it useless when she just faked her very first death. Congratulations! You're just like me!"

They reached the escape pod, and once they opened it they piled in sat down and began to turn knobs and press buttons to get the thing going.

"Are we just going to leave Thor behind?" Sybbyl asked Loki who's sitting at the front of the pod.

"There's no time to get him" he answered. "Besides, we all faked our deaths in front of him. If there's anything I know about my brother is that our deaths will fuel him and make him great" he sighed and pushed a lever forward. The pod was ejected into space and he pressed a couple of buttons and the thrusters kicked in. The Statesman exploded, sending debris into space, the dead Asgardians floated in space and somewhere in the rubble, Thor is floating as well.

"We're terrible people" Sybbyl muttered. She's looking outside the window and felt– she's not even sure what she's feeling right now. Anger? Sadness? Rage? All her emotions are a jumbled mess.

"Sybbie, darling, you're my best friend. Of course you're a terrible person" Loki smirked.

Sybbyl threw an object that hit him on the back of the head and he glared at her over his shoulder. Heimdall rolled his head back and placed a hand on the wound on his abdomen.

"I didn't survive all those wars only to die in an escape pod with bickering children" he mumbled.

"Don't make me regret saving your life" Sybbyl threatened. Heimdall chuckled but then winced at the pain. Sybbyl groaned as the pain of her wounds made themselves known. "I know" she looked down at her abdomen and saw the blood on her shirt, the rip the blade made on the material and the breaking of the skin. "Loki..." She hissed when she pressed her hand on the wound to stop the bleeding "I hate your sister"

"So do I" Loki answered.

Poor Thor Odinson floated in space believing that his brother and friends are dead when in reality they're alive, not well, and on their way to earth.
