Chapter 3
It had been a rainy day all along since you woke up and desperately dediced not to get up and go outside. It wasn't because of the rain, rather the fear of meeting a very special person, Felix.
You tried to avoid him all day, perhaps even hiding. While collecting fruits and herbs, the strange feeling of being watched kept coming back. Every move put you under pressure, you felt panic and suddenly you grabbed your basket and hushed back into the dark forest as you bumbed into someone. The fruits fell on the ground and you looked up, gasping as you recognised Felix who stood over you now, causing your heart to stop a beat in fear.
His blank expression revealed nothing like usual, frightening as always. He bent over and put two apples back into your basket, he grabbed the last one from the ground and bit into it. He then, just stood there, munching while looking down at you.
'I was looking for you.' He mumbled, causing you to shiver. The lanky blonde boy grabbed your arm and pulled you roughly to your feet. He noticed your fear, he clearly did, but his face did not allow you to read his thoughts.
'Pan gave me a day off from duties.' You answered and sounded far braver than you felt. The second in command nodded and let go off your wrist. You still felt his touch, not in a harmful way, but where his warm hand that had touched your skin, was replaced to cold claws if the wind.
Both of you remained in akward silence for a full minute, Felix still chewing on his apple,- the sound of him chewing made you go crazy, you craved to punch him. How you hated the sound of chewing when you weren't eating. Especially apples. They sounded so... crispy?
Deciding to ignore him, you grabbed your basket and walked past him straight to camp.
I am not scared of you asshole!, you told yourself. He was not going to hurt you anyway. Maybe Pan would stop him? But why should he. Why should any boy try to help her? All they did was caring for themselfes. They tolerated you as a girl, but nothing more. You weren't a lost boy and you knew that. Felix somehow, seemed to got stuck onto you. Your biggest fear came true: Felix-, violent, ruthless, cold, angry Felix, he was the one who kept being around you, like a bee to her queen, his intentions unknown. All you knew were that he was dangerous and that you should be careful around him.
'Where are you going?'
'Fuck off!' You accidentally let out.
'Hell what?' Felix grabbed your arm and pulled you harsh back to him. His eyes glowed but you could not tell if in anger or not.
'I said: FUCK. OFF.'
The shades of your face turned mad and you gave him the most hateful glare he had ever seen.
You fucking asshole.
You remembered how you almost drowned and how angry he got, then later captured you. You did not even care about what he could do to you, aware of the fact that he could smash you through a fucking tree if he wanted to.
'Oh, you can do more than crying.' He really sounded suprised, not fooling you how good he was at acting. You yanked away your arm in anger and glared up to his smirking face, before hushing away, ignoring his hurtful words. He had made you cry. Perhaps he would leave yo alone now, knowing your opinion towards him. Well, perhaps.
Forgetting all of your hopes to escape the lost boys gaze, you noticed he was still behind you. His eyes were stuck onto you, nothing to discuss about- but when you turned around to confront him, the clearing was empty, leaving you alone with a bewildered look on your face. Where was he?! You could swear you had felt his presence behind you, but all you saw where trees and bushes.
Like always.
Could it be...? No.
'FELIX!' you screamed into the darker getting woods, the sound of your voice echoed back but nothing else. Birds sat high up in the branches, chirping and singing, the wind blew through your hair and left icing kisses on your skin. In the distance a raven crowed and the sunlight was trying to squeeze through the dense foliage of the trees.
'FELIX GET OUT, I KNOW THAT YOU'RE THERE!'
A minute passed and you weren't exactly sure if he was still out there, or if you had gone fully nuts. As you wanted to give up, something rustled behind the bushes and an unamused Felix strolled out. You sighted and took a deep breath.
'Why are you always following me?'An unpleasing grunt followed.
The boy remained silent, giving you the chills.
'Pan ordered me to, so I followed you for a few weeks.' He admitted. He was not even denying that he was observing you all the time and why should he? Avoiding to look in his eyes, your gaze fell down to the floor, feeling embarassed and humilated and also scared. Dropping dead would be a delightful variety. Felix began to walk towards you, closing the distance between you, the distance in which you felt safe fom him, from Pan and all the other lost boys. You shrinked and closed your eyes as he touched your shoulder. He held your face to make you look at him, then said: ' I would never hurt you.'
His words were warm and soothing, also the way he held your cheek, but the way how he said those words, cold and dreary, were anything else but warm. This whole situation made you feel uncomfortable and somehow you managed yourself to push his hamd away in awe.
'Just leave me alone.'
With that you turned your heels and made sure the second in command did not follow you, even if he was way to sneaky for you to be really sure. It was an awful day for you, clearly. Your heart beat fast and you felt exhausted from all that walking, your head was dizzy from all those questions swirrling around in your thoughts. His touch still burned your skin in pity. Could you call him a stalker? Or was it rather Pan that acted creepy, sending Felix out to observe you.
And he had watched you for so long...
Shivers went down your spine at the thougt of that. You wanted to get away, needed some fresh air, a clear head, an brave heart-, something that you always could count on.
Behind the miseries of the forest appeared a small Pond with warm, clear water and wet, moss-covered stones. The sunlight brightened the small clearing with beautiful flowers in many different colours. It was magnificent. Unlikely to any other place on the Island, this clearing had somewhat more magical to it, like a sparkling shine over the bright, green grass. The singing birds were soothing. For the first time in a long while you felt safe and home. But you knew your luck didn't stay long, not until some of the boys found you here. Since they lived on this Island for ages, they already could know this place.
'Get away from the pond', a dark voice spoke and shivers went down your spine. Ready to turn around and hit Felix in the face, which must have followed you instead of listening to your demand, before noticing it was not the second in command. 'It's dangerous.'
'Thomas...' You whispered more to yourself than to the lost boy in front of you. 'What ye doin' outta here, lass?' His scottish accent made you smile in an absurd way, being happy to hear his voice. Thomas had brown hair and brown eyes. He looked roman, like a bronze figure built by donatelo that turned alive. His sleepy eyes hid behind long lashes and he smiled, a warm and friendly smile, nothing evil to it.
'I just came here and found this place. It's beautiful-'
'And fuckin' dangerous within!' Thomas shouted and his eyes widened while pointing at the pond. 'There are creatures in it.'
The way how he rolled the 'r' was made you fluster. Nodding at him you moved into his direction, following him back to camp- since you didn't know the way back, so his presence seemed quiet delightful. He had asked you about what happened the day before with Felix and you told him, ignoring the fact that Thomas was still a lost boy. He also got beaten up by Felix. The scottish boy did not respond to the story, just frowned. After a while he mumbled:'strange. Doesn't sound like him.'
