Glittering Death: Chapter Two
Six people form a circle. Five living, one dead.
Wisteria is dead. Her wrist is still leaking blood like a broken tap. The pallor of the fingers of her right hand end in a...
Wait. She doesn't have fingers. She chopped them off. Not willingly though.
Funny what a person does to save themselves from death's silent approach.
But was Wisteria saved? No, she wasn't. She couldn't be.
She begged to be stopped from slitting her wrist. But had she stopped hurting my loved ones, despite my pleas?
You reap what you sow. As simple as that.
What did all the stolen riches give her--except death?
She dissolves into nothingness, while I sparkle all the more.
A police officer grimly unlocks me from Wisteria's neck. His dark eyes are glued to me, but he does nothing.
He places me on a table, eyes still locked to my form. Diamonds are a bewitching brilliance and my perfect hideout.
After his nail traces my gleaming drops, he pockets his hands.
"Another suicide, Mr. Irving." The police officer faces Edric with a shake of his cropped head. I wonder why he even puts an effort to be apologetic. His voice feels so monotonous. He can become a nice weatherman.
"I refuse to believe it. Three suicides? Three damn suicides!" Edric's hands ball into fists, the blue of his eyes almost red with anger.
I suppress the urge to giggle.
The policeman sighs. "Madam Wisteria has cut her wrist. It is a suicide."
Edric looks determined, his eyes stone-cold. "This is a murder, officer." He glances at the fingerless hand with a gulp. "So were the previous ones."
"Our team is investigating."
Edric's jaw tenses. I know that look. He will not rest until he digs deeper. If he does, I will be exposed.
"Are you okay?" he asks, facing Lily, Zora, and Dominique, the three maids of this house. Mansion, actually.
Lily nods three times. She looks ghastly. Why the denial then? She hastily wipes her tearstained cheeks. Her nose twitches. She reminds me of a rabbit, no kidding.
Dominique crosses her arms over her bust. She looks surlier than usual. Bet she didn't get to stuff her face with the gelato she had made.
Zora's brown doe eyes are glistening. Even her kohl seems to be protesting. "Mistaar Irfing. Blood, no. Blood... bad." She is an Arab, her father was. So she says.
"Edric, take them away," Spike Wilson says. Please welcome the deceased's brother, who strangely seems relaxed.
The policeman shakes his head. "No one moves out. I need to interview you one by one."
It's going to be a waste anyway. It will be declared as a suicide. Again. Good for me. My job becomes easier.
No one will find out the reason behind all this, no one cares actually... except one. His blue eyes look small under that immense frown. Even from a distance, I can sense his glare... and confusion?
I need to be careful from that one... my heart needs to be too.
The policeman wears a poker face, Spike looks normal, Edric is frowning, Zora and Lily sport red eyes, while Dominique is still sulking.
Each face hides a secret. And I'm one of them.
Hey, everyone! ❤ How are you all doing? I know I'm late, but I finally updated Chapter Two.
By the way, I have been appointed as a primary school teacher since a little more than a week. From August 23, Class 1-A will have Sakina Nasir (me) as its class teacher. :D
What do you think of this one? Does it seem mysterious? If yes, why? If no, what can I do to improve? Please do leave your feedback.
Do the endings feel like cliffhangers? Do they leave you with questions? Please be honest.
What do you think of Edric and Glittering Death?
Wisteria's gone. Who's next? Muhaha! :D
Thank you so much for reading. It means a lot. :)
Keep smiling! 💖
Lots of love💝
