Glittering Death: Chapter One

Our small town of Crystalcliff is built upon gossip. Superstition forced its way in and associated my name with killers.

Glittering Death is what they call me, but I'm so much more.

My job? You'll know soon.

Wisteria holds me in between two delicate fingers. With a single click, my form almost covers her chest and gleaming drops tickle her skin.

Just a tickle for now. Blood will soon mar her flawless whiteness.

She glances at the mirror with a giggle, ruby lips sparkling against the white of her teeth. Her manicured nail strokes my diamonds, irking me.

Cut it, my thoughts thunder, but sanity doesn't want to cooperate.

Her left wrist ever-so-lightly turns as she sniffs the bunch of roses enclosed in her hand.

Roses are usually known for their red, but she prefers them black. A tin can of the highest quality of that dark color rests on her dressing table.

She runs another manicured nail along the can's length and sprays on the innocent flowers.

Black roses, huh? The person holding them has an even blacker heart. Bless the irony.

Bless the poor soul who has spent his money on these flowers. Or did she gift them to herself?

Did Edric give them to her? Is that why her foul mouth giggles in like every minute?

Wisteria's fingers trace my glittering form again. Her smile, so full of charm, is as hollow as her soul.

How I wish I can chop off these guilty fingers.

Her eyes, gray flecked with silver, match the storm brewing inside me. They glint as she shows me off: her priceless possession.

But she doesn't know that all glitter is not bright. That darkness is concealed so well behind it.

Soon, she will be dead. So will be all the others.

"Edriiiiic!" Wisteria almost twirls in her little dress as he peeps in after a soft knock.

Her screech irks me further, unsettling me even. Can I slit her throat and be done with it already?

"These are lovely." She sniffs the roses with a grin.

The blue in Edric's eyes look lost. I almost sympathize with him... almost. How can one smell flowers after they are choked with paint?

Edric clears his throat, pocketing his hands in his jeans. His mauve lips settle in a thin line. "Agreed, but who are they from?"

How charming.

The look on her face is priceless. My mirth soon turns into nausea as she wraps her arms around his neck.

As the gap between them lessens, my hatred for them increases.

Edric's eyebrows give away his uncomfortable state. He leans in as she strokes his stubble. Her free palm rests on his chest. Desperation oozes out of it as she clutches a fistful of his  shirt.

She can't wrap everyone around her little finger. Edric will not be entranced by that witch, right?

Wrong.

Her eyelashes flutter as she touches her lips with his. Fire surges within me. An itch to hurt her increases each second.

Everyone has secrets; innocent or guilty... unfortunately, I'm their deadliest.

I will kill them both. I wonder how she will look with her fingers chopped off. She will pay for it, oh yes, she will.

Hey, everyone! *throws glitter in the air* How are you all? 💖 I'm back to writing after two long months!

Please be totally honest about the first Chapter. Since it's my first attempt, I'd love to know your opinions.

Who do you think Glittering Death is? Why?

What did you feel while reading?

What do you think will happen next?

The Chapter is intended to be short. GD (Glittering Death) will most probably be a short story/novella. :)

Keep smiling! 💖
Lots of love💝
