(Twenty - Hm, odd.)
'But- But you guys are, like, the closest two in the forest, how could he be afraid of you?' Brandon stuttered, looking between the two as his fireproof friend crossed his arms and looked away.
'Why don't you ask him that?'
'No, I have a perfectly good reason to be afraid of you; You tried to kill me!'
'I tried to kill you? I, tried to kill you?' The younger male spoke quietly, the tone almost silencing the room as Jerome looked between his two friends uneasily. 'Guys, this isn't-'
'Oh, don't act so innocent. You know exactly what you did.'
'I haven't done anything, what are you...' Preston trailed off, meeting the wolf hybrid eyes and creating a small blaze in one closed fist. They were far too different to be Rob's - Unless,of course, he'd miraculously gained grey eyes in the Nether, but he knew that wasn't it.
'You aren't the real Rob.'
The dragon of the group glanced at Vik, who got the message and nodded before he began to concentrate. "Rob" seemed to realize what he was doing, and lunged forwards, only to be stopped by a wall of red magic, 'Entity, what's going on?'
Your friend's trying to find out, but I believe that; Well, Preston, you were half-right. It's Robert's body, yes, but it appears-
'It's a Capan. It got to Rob last night, he was, uh... Hold on a sec, it just shoved me - Dude, can you seriously not?' Vik groaned, putting two fingers against his temple as Not-Rob stared right back at him. Pete seemed to tense at what the Brit had called the creature, before staring at the raging wolf hybrid in wonder.
'A Capan, seriously? But those are meant to be extinct.'
'This thing is anything but extinct.' Entity rolled his eyes under his cloak, muttering a spell under his breath that rendered Not-Rob immobile for the time being before tapping the mocha-skinned mentality keeper on his shoulder. Vikram, you can stop trying. You're just going to hurt yourself.
'That might actually be... A good idea.'
~~~
'Dude, dude, you just need to breathe. They're not going to hurt you.'
'They know that I'm a hybrid; I'm basically dead! D-E-A-D, dead!' Choco wailed, hitting his head against the cool grass every few seconds while Kenny sighed and ran a hand through his blond quiff-like-hairstyle.
Who was he kidding, Kenny didn't have a hairstyle, it had no effort whatsoever.
'It's okay Choco, just trust me. Try and trust them, most of them are alright it's just- Nevermind. Just try and calm down, alright? Nobody's going to hurt you while I'm here.'
'...Promise?'
"I will find whoever has hurt this small child, and throw them off of the mountains I swear to-" 'I on my- No, that won't work, immortality and all that,' The chocobo hybrid-turned-human smiled slightly before he continued. 'But nah, I promise. I'm gonna... Take you under my wing.'
'You did not.'
'Yeah I - CHOCO NO!' The ebony-haired teenager lunged for his older friend, who jumped up and ran towards a nearby tree with a mischievous smirk on his face. 'You can't catch me.'
'I can, and I will, just watch me!' Choco yelled, sprinting towards the blond who just laughed before jumping into the tree.
Literally. He'd grabbed a low branch and basically shot himself up into the higher sections of the tree. 'Oh sorry, what was that? Couldn't hear you, I was too busy climbing this tree.'
'I will physically fight you.'
'Choco, buddy, I love ya, but you couldn't fight a puppy.'
'...I'll get Brandon to fight you.'
'I'll tell Marina.'
'I- Uh, truce. She can be one scary lady.'
'Pfft, what? We're on about the same woman, right, the one who gave Vik a healing potion for a papercut?'
Choco just nodded, before he spoke again. 'She's one of those "I'm not mad, just very disappointed" people, mix that with the silent treatment and you feel like the guiltiest person in the world.'
'But I am guilty.'
'Of what?'
Time to use some of that terribly crude humour, Kenny.
'Of stealing your heart.'
You could practically hear the crickets. The blond tensed, thankfully hidden by the tree's foliage, but soon relaxed when he heard his friend laughing.
'You wish, Casanova,' Choco grinned up at the immortal. 'But I believe that it is I who has stolen your heart.'
"I mean..." 'Oi, that's my line.'
'I hate to break up... Whatever this is, guys, but we need you two back in the meeting room. We just need some conformation on some stuff.' Practically appearing out of nowhere, Josh's call caused Choco to almost screech and hide behind the tree as Kenny pulled a face.
'Uh, thanks Josh, we'll be in in a sec.'
As the adult returned to the halls, our protagonist (one of them, anyway) turned around and squinted at his friend.
'Choco, mate, what's going on?'
~~~
'So to get rid of this thing-'
You basically fight it out if the body. One of the main rules of the Capan is that, if you successfully get them out of their "host", they have to heal whoever was in the battle. Host and challenger. Entity explained, having to strengthen the wall every few minutes as the boys' possessed friend grew more erratic in his movement.
'But why would it possess Rob, of all people?'
'He was out alone. I knew I shouldn't have left him by himself!' Lachlan groaned, smacking himself in the forehead before Vik pulled his hand away. 'You couldn't have known.'
'But still, I shouldn't have left him!' The dragon hybrid's eyes flashed golden for a few moments, turning back to their normal cyan as his shorter friend shook his head.
'Don't bully yourself. Nobody here is to blame.'
'Yeah, I guess... I'll shut up now.'
'Don't do that.'
"If one of my best friends wasn't currently possessed, I'd probably be aw'ing right now." Brandon thought cheekily, before returning his thoughts to the issue at hand.
None of the boys were particularly good fighters, especially not against their possesses companion who'd probably already taken numerous batterings that week.
Greeeaaaaaaat.
'If that's seriously the only way, then I think either Preston or I should duel it.' He spoke without thinking, and refrained from shying away as the group turned to look at him. 'I mean, if we absolutely have to.'
'It would make sense, I guess. We could have both of you against him, one pins him while the other concludes the match.'
It appears to be a legitimate plan. Whoever's fighting needs to challenge the Capan, and find a durable arena to compete in.
'Can't we just use a section of forest?'
Or that, yes.
