Todd (not Todd from AMS)

"Todd, honey! Dinner's ready!" A feminine voice called from downstairs.

Honestly, I don't wanna eat, not this time.

I just shrugged mentally. Guess I don't really have a choice, do I?

I put my black hoodie back on and walked towards the door.

When I did, Christmas ornaments lined the brick walls. I walked down the oak floor and saw a model of Bethlehem, with a child in a manger. I can also see lights dot the walls.

I see Dad has decorated the house.

When I walked down the stairs, I turned at the window to see the snow flooding the stone road. I'm not surprised. Of course it's winter! What do I have to expect?

I reached the dining room. A large, rectangular table and six chairs made of spruce loomed ahead. Three of the chairs where occupied by Mom, Dad, and my younger brother. On the wall is a painting of Queen Elizabeth II.

"C'mon honey. Sit down," Mom offered me. I sat immediately.

Later on, I saw two of my siblings occupy two of the seats.

Then we ate supper. It's not my favorite ever, but hey! You got food!

"Uh... Mom? Can I get some sugar, please?" Tommy casually asked.

"Sure thing, honey!" Mom answered.

Well, this is the type of conversation you hear on the dining table. At least, in my case.

We casually finished supper. After that, it's my least favorite part of the day: washing dishes. I mean, c'mon! I'm a victim of extreme laziness!

Before people could even remind me of dishes, I immediately jumped straight into the kitchen. Well, not literally, but I just went.

As I scrubbed the dirt off the plate, a voice called out, "Hey!"

From what I heard, it sounded feminine.

"Psst! Over here!" It called again.

I finally saw someone calling me. I widened my eyes and gasped internally.

Wait, hold on. An elf is calling me?! I thought elves aren't real?

But instead, an elf that's kinda dressed in all black was sitting on the top of the counter. How come I have not noticed that?

"Psst! Hi!"

I literally stopped, "Uh..."

"Merry Christmas, mate!" She greeted.

"Uh... Who are you?"

"Name's Rebel! Now, follow me, Todd!"

Wait, what the Nether is this? She already knew my name?!

"Hold on! I'm still supposed to do dishes!" I said, though I hated saying that.

I could hear the elf sigh, then she snapped her fingers.

"What the...?!" I gasped as the dishes went back to its proper places, all clean.

Am I in Hogwarts right now?

"Now, leggo!" Rebel said as she dove out of the window. Being the clumsy guy I am, I decided to go through the backyard door.

From the snowy backyard lined with cobblestone block walls, I could see my brick house with black stained glass pane and spruce roof.

"Why am I here? I wanna go back watching Preston in MineTube!" I whined.

"Look, let's just say that... Santa needs help delivering presents," the teeny-tiny Rebel explained.

"Why me though?"

"Stop whining! The more you complain, the lesser progress you make! Now let's freakin' go!"

I sighed. Not much I could do anyway.

I hopped over the cobblestone wall, which I didn't know I could do, as I saw what loomed near me.

Reindeers with Santa on it. Behind Santa were sacks and stacks of gifts on it.

Wait, am I actually seeing Santa right now?! Is this fantasy?! Am I dreaming right now?!

"Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!" Santa greeted. Of course he'll say that. It's Santa, for Notch's sake!

"And I see you got him here with 'ya," Santa continued, gesturing to the elf. He turned to me, "Guess you're here to help, eh?"

I did my favorite shrug, "Not much I could do, really."

"Come here and sit down!" He offered as he moved sidewards to make some space.

Honestly, this is how I imagine Santa, generous, jolly, that's how I'd like it.

And I'm actually sitting near the Santa I imagine right now.

"So, what do you need me for, Santa?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"I needed help from someone to deliver this...very important present, to someone named Noel."

"Sounds simple enough," I commented.

As if a reply to what I said, lightning flashed the X-mas skies.

"This can't be good..." The elf muttered.

Then, I saw someone levitating towards us. It kinda looked like Steve, but it can't be him.

No wait, it's gotta be Herobrine!

"Happy falalala Santa! Where do 'ya think you're going now with your teeny-tiny elves and oh! I see you brought a pesky mortal with 'ya!" Herobrine laughed maniacally.

"I agree strongly," I sarcastically commented the same time Rebel yelled, "Don't you dare make fun of my size!"

"Let's go!" Santa told us as the reindeers started floating towards our destination.

Then lightning struck the back of Santa's seat, causing a boom in our ears, temporarily losing our sense of hearing. Notch, how loud was that?!

When I regained my sense of hearing, I immediately looked for Herobrine.

I saw him below the reindeers, ready to kill them.

"Oh my Notch!" I exclaimed as I threw a present at him.

It missed.

I did it again, and it hit him right on his face!

Herobrine then gave me a death glare, then warned me, "You better watch out, mortal. I am Herobrine. I am legion. I do not forgive. I do not forget."

Herobrine narrowed his eyes, "Expect us..." Then he disappeared.

Us? What does he mean by us?

This can't be good...

I looked down again to see children filled with zest open the presents that fell.

But on this point, I don't care about children. I care about my will to live.

"Well, at least we still have Noel's present intact," another elf poonted out.

"Why is Noel's present important anyway?" I asked curiously.

"Because Herobrine is after the present. If he gets it, Christmas is ruined..." Santa explained, and being the evil guy Herobrine was, I can conlude it's logical.

I looked down (good thing I wasn't altophobic), and saw that we were at the outskirts of Sector 19.

"So, where does this Noel guy live?" I asked.

"He has an igloo somewhere in an ice biome somewhere," Santa answered me.

Great, now we're going miles away from home.

"I'll just go sleep, if you don't mind," I told Santa. Sleep was my favorite part of the day, aside from eating.

I just leaned on the back of the seat, pulled my hoodie back up and my eyes gave in to sleep.

* * * * *

"Wake up! Oh my Notch this is getting annoying!" An elf, or I'll just assume it's Rebel, shook me.

"I need my beauty sleep..." I mumbled.

"Thomas! Get over here and help him up!" Rebel screamed.

"Okay, I'm coming!" I heard the elf named Thomas say.

Then I felt a hard smack on my left cheek, causing me to suddenly wake up.

Harsh.

"Do you want another slap?" Thomas offered.

I rolled my eyes, "No thanks."

"C'mon! We gotta go!" Rebel yelled.

Right on cue, an arrow landed near me. I turned and saw at least 30 Skeletons.

All with glowing, red eyes.

This has to be Herobrine's!

I immediately ran to who knows where with the elves.

I then realized what was happening. Santa's reindeers were killed, hence the dead reindeers. And we were being attacked by Herobrine.

"Where's Santa?!" I asked, sounding concerned. Never in my life did I thought I would ask that. Last time I did was when I was a 10-year-old.

"He's safe. Now let's go!"

We then ended up on an igloo.

When we entered, I saw Santa in the igloo.

"I see you finally woke up. Well, we're here in No--" Santa stopped, then gasped, "Noel's present! I forgot!"

Before Santa could even call my name, I raced to the present like I was racing with an ocelot.

"Todd!" The two elves called out as I ran straight to where we were earlier, with Herobrine's forces trying to clash with me.

I was surprised I didn't trip.

I grabbed Noel's present and turned back to Noel's igloo. Honestly, I don't know what's important with this present, but I turned.

However, it was not the igloo I saw.

Herobrine's face blocked in my way.

I gasped.

"Gimme Noel's present please," he casually asked.

"You're not Noel. You're not Holly. And you're not even Steve or Santa. So that's a no," I retorted. I may not be the hero everyone's looking for, but at least I get to save the Yule.

Then Herobrine raised his hand, with hints of lightning sparking out of it, threatening me with that serious look.

I just ran past him, and made my move as I tossed Noel's present to Santa's elves.

Then lightning struck a centimeter near me, causing my ears to almost pop out and trip. I just prayed that Noel's present made it.

My heart dropped when I saw the present on mid-air, being pulled by Herobrine's magic.

"Thanks for the gift, Todd," Herobrine commented as he disappeared together with Noel's present.

I felt my eyesight drifting off to nowhere before I felt my consciousness fade away.

* * * * *

"Todd, are you okay?"

It was a struggle opening my eyes. Heck, it was even more harder than waking me up in a school morning!

"Oh, good. You can open your eyes."

"Of course he could open his eyes, idiot!"

"Don't blame me! You never know when someone is dead!"

"Well now you're wishing him dead."

"Stop. This isn't getting anywhere," I interrupted.

"Sorry," the man replied. I hated using my brain, but I could figure out thag these two people were enlarged versions of Thomas and Rebel.

I then wondered where Santa is. Before I could even ask, Rebel answered me, "Santa's fine. He's just talking with Noel and Holly."

Oh, that's where he went. I'm kinda sure he's in trouble right now.

Then I heard some sort of a snow storm outside.

"Uh... Thomas? Rebel?" I asked.

"What?" They replied at the same time, then Thomas commented, "Rebel, you poser."

Rebel just shrugged.

"What's happening outside?"

"It's a blizzard," Rebel answered. "I heard it's everywhere in Minecraftia," Thomas added.

This must be Herobrine's doing. It it because of Noel's present?

Oh my... Notch help us all...

Just then, Santa came up the ladder and walked towards us. I wonder how did he fit through that.

"So... what happened?" I said.

"Well, Noel just talked to me... Minecraftia is at stake here," he informed me.

"What's in that present anyway?"

"It's something that keeps the Christmas Spirit alive. Without it... the world won't be like what it used to be..." Santa explained.

And he seemed pretty serious about it...

"How do we get it back?" Rebel asked. Well, I'll let her do the talking then.

"We can't."

We turned to see a man dressed like Santa but smaller and older. I figured it was Noel.

"Herobrine is a powerful being. We can't stand against him, not even the combined magic of all the elves," Noel told us.

"Can we at least get Christmas back to its normal shape?"

"There is one way to get Christmas Spirit back..."

Noel then drifted off to thinking.

"And that is... to discover the true meaning of Christmas..."

True meaning of Christmas...?

"Only a few people really knows what it is. But even I myself, nor Santa and his elves, didn't know about it. And ironically, people still celebrate Christmas without knowing its true meaning."

"So... we don't have to fight Herobrine?" Thomas clarified.

"Well, if you want to take Christmas back the hardest way, then you go fight Herobrine."

Thomas kept silent.

"Question is: How do we know about the true meaning of Christmas? To get the Christmas Spirit back..." Rebel asked.

"Why are you asking me? I don't know the answer! I'm not some kind of a cheat list for a test!"

Cheat lists... I like the sound of that.

"Wait, w-what t-time is it...?" I stammered.

"I reckon it's midnight, I think..." Santa answered me.

"Oh... My family must be worried right now..."

"Wait, does your family love you?" Thomas asked.

It was my turn to slap him hard, "Of course they do!"

"Okay, rude."

I shrugged it off and wondered in deep thought.

I stared at the never-ending snowstorm.

I often didn't enjoy Christmas, except all the gifts that I may receive. But often, the gifts are repetitive. Picture frames, pairs of socks, a desk (yes, they gave me desks), and new clothes. It all seemed... repetitive.

I often wonder what force makes them give gifts. I mean, everyone wants to receive gifts!

I then remember this one quote, "It is better to give than to receive." But what makes you want to give?

Is it because of force? Generosity? Love?

...wait, love...

I then had a Eureka moment as I immediately jumped and told Santa that I knew what is the true meaning of Christmas.

Santa then gasped, delighted to know what it is.

"What did you think of? You seemed to be joyful," Noel said.

"I got the key!" I told Noel. I can read Thomas' and Rebel's minds, saying 'what?'

"Alright, tell me."

"Let's do it like Santa used to do!" I sounded as if I was campaigning for President.

Oh wait, Jean's the president.

"How will that solve anything?" Thomas countered.

I whispered him the key ingredient.

Then he knew what I was talking about, exclaiming, "Oooh!"

He then whispered to the other elf named Rebel.

Rebel then had a Eureka moment as well.

* * * * *

"C'mon! Let's go!" Rebel signalled us as she used her magic to revive the reindeers and clear the path.

We ran, although Santa's weight slowed him down, as we sat with Noel and Santa. The elves shrunk back to normal, and hopped on.

But there was not enough space on the seat for me, so I have to sit in Santa's lap.

And no, I'm not a kid.

Despite the harsh cold, we sailed through the atmosphere. I then looked down and saw we were entering Sector 24.

The Sector where the Resistance once plundered for their food.

I heard that they were still short on food supply.

As we entered Sector 24, Santa said his memorable and kinda cliché line, "Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Me-- Advanced Merry Christmas!"

"Here's the fun part..." I muttered as I grabbed at least five presents and threw it on the chimney... or roof, if it missed, yelling "Merry Christmas!" occasionally.

Noel and the elves did the same thing.

Then, the blizzard started to calm down, as if it was trained by someone.

Welp, we were almost there.

We kept doing the same process. I don't care if it's repetitive, as long as its for the sake of the world.

Well, at least better than beating Herobrine in a 1v1.

Suddenly, a voice spoke to me, "Thank you..."

...wait, who's this...?

"Thank you..."

What is he thanking me for? (I like how I'm already assuming his gender)

"Thank you, for saving Christmas... And the world..."

Oh.

"Uh... Guys? Do you hear what I'm hearing?" I asked them.

"Yes, it's me..."

Why does this guy keep talking with triple dots?

"The Christmas Spirit..." Noel muttered.

Before I could even hear the Christmas spirit, someone else's voice boomed,

"You think you can save Christmas!"

Oh no, Herobrine's voice...

And there he is... levitating over towards us.

I threw another present at Herobrine, trying to stop him

Oops, big mistake!

He teleported and grabbed my neck with one hand and lifted me up.

"Todd!" Everyone except me and Herobrine exclaimed.

I then suddenly felt like I'm losing control of myself, my eyes barely clinging on to myself.

I could hear Herobrine's evil laughter as I felt my eyesight appear and disappear...

I felt like something is taking over me...

My right hand then smacked Santa in the cheeks involuntarily.

Wait? What the Nether am I doing?!

I then tried to stop my right hand, but ultimately failing as I punched Noel in the nose.

My right hand raised again, ready to land a punch.

But I didn't know how I did it, but I punched myself.

I grabbed my right hand using my left and tried to stop it from smacking, my right hand, or in this case, my right half, struggling to get free.

I suddenly felt like I'm losing control over my head, my eyesight slowly fading away.

"You can do it Todd... If you saved Christmas, then you can save Santa..." I barely heard a voice as I kept struggling to stop the force that's taking over.

My subconscience spoke, "How? This force is too strong!"

"Don't give up..."

I then punched myself again with my left hand as my whole body tried to destroy Santa.

This is hopeless...

There is only one way left, and no guarantees whether I'll survive or not.

I mouthed out with the last of my voluntary energy, "Thank you..."

I then jumped off.

* * * * *

I felt my consciousness wake me up... I saw a strong, white light. Where am I?

It was hard, but I managed to keep my eyes open. I felt no force taking over, and I saw that I was in a room made of quartz.

Am I in a hospital?

I then saw the human version of Rebel.

"You okay?" She asked.

I tried to nod, but it was a pain. I then noticed all of my limbs suspended in the air.

I must have hit a one heck of a fall.

"You were lucky enough to survive that fall... Good thing the... Christmas Spirit saved you..."

Wait, the Christmas Spirit saved me?

"Where...am...I...?" I asked Rebel. It was a difficulty speaking due to all the broken bones I suffered.

"Sector 24's Hospital. Santa said I should stay here with you."

So that explains my whereabouts.

Suddenly, the hospital door opened.

It was my family.

"Happy new year!" They greeted me as I tried to smile. I'm so glad I get to see my family again.... wait, new year?!

"Yep, it's January 1st." My younger brother told me.

"Honey, are you okay?! What happened to you?" Mom asked. I tried telling her, but it's really a pain.

At this point, I don't care about broken bones. After all, that Christmas adventure was an adventure that will last a lifetime.

I'd call it, "The Advent Adventures."

I learned new things. I learned the true meaning of Christmas.

After all, Christmas is about Christ's birth.

And, even without all the Christmas trees and presents, you can still enjoy Christmas, as long as you love your loved ones.

After all, Jesus taught us to love everyone, even your enemies.

It may sound cheesy,

But that is what makes Christmas day, or any day, complete.

-=-<|>-=-

Finally, that's over.

Fun facts:

I wanted to add a scene where #Trobel blooms, but nah.

I wanted to add other people like Anna, Jimmie, or Naomi, but I wasn't sure where to add them, so I just didn't.

The last few paragraphs I put in is actually my belief about Christmas. So, if you have a different belief about it, I'm not forcing you to believe me.

Alright, so, hope you enjoy it!

Glitch out!
