THREE. god... it's brutal out here

OLIVIA HAD to thank Jeremiah for a lot.

Without him she wouldn't be the person she was currently looking at in the mirror.

Her hair rested on her shoulders as she tugged at the crop top... not that it was going to grow that way.

It had grown dark and the dinner that she craved had been shoved in her mouth.

"Hey Liv?" Jessie called, "Did you ever ask Jeremiah about the Deb?"

The Deb, or better known as the Debutant Ball, was something that new girl in Cousins attended. It was basically a coming out party.

Olivia hadn't been in town for the first one and her mother desperately wanted her to attend.

Jessie had her own Deb party and could remember the fond memories of that night. Though, those memories had quickly soured out once she divorced Harry.

"Um, no." Olivia answered, "I forgot."

"Liv! You have to ask him before it's too late."

Olivia glanced over at her mother and laughed, "Too late? Is he waiting for someone else to ask him?"

"No, but I'm sure that Susannah would want the two of you two match."

"I'll ask him at the party."

Jessie quirked her brow, "Party? Since when have you gone to parties?"

"Since tonight." She answered, "I'm going with Jere."

"Is Conrad going?"

"Pretty sure... I'm sure everyone is going."

"And by everyone?"

Olivia sighed, "Belly and her brother Steven. I'm only going because I get to drive the Jeep." She smiled.

Jessie could see how happy Jeremiah made Olivia.

Olivia had been Jessie's only child and she wanted to protect her as much as a parent possibly could.

Olivia's phone began to ring from her bedside table. She picked it up and saw it was Jeremiah calling.

"Don't stay out too late." Jessie said.

Olivia nodded and answered the phone; her mother leaving the room.

"Hey, almost ready?"

"Yeah." She replied, mouth full of fries, "Is everyone coming?"

"Everyone but Belly. But hey, it'll still be fun! I'm sure Conrad will be with Natalie and Steven's pretty much a slut. I'm sure he'll find someone. So really, it's just the two of us."

Natalie had been, what many called, Conrad's newest fling. Not many people new why Conrad had changed over the past couple of months. An ex that he seemingly adored had called it quits and he's been somewhat of a bitch ever since.

"We'll be there shortly." He smiled, "Love you."

She couldn't respond fast enough as she heard the sounds of Steven making fun of the boy in the background.

"Talk to you soon. Bye." Jeremiah whispered into the phone and hung up.

Olivia softly smiled.

She examined her outfit one last time and left her room.

"Where's this party?" Jessie asked.

"The beach." Olivia said, joining her mother's side on the couch.

"Don't forget to ask him about-"

"Deb. I know."

The Deb felt very stupid to Olivia, but she wanted to please her mother. She'd given up a lot just so Olivia felt safe and never out of place.

A conversation couldn't be held long enough as Olivia saw headlight pulling up into the yard.

She told her mother goodbye and left. Not forgetting to take the keys from Jeremiah's hands.

THEY ARRIVED at the beach and instantly went their separate ways.

Olivia was never a drinker in the first place, but Jeremiah was and wouldn't miss a chance to drink when he possibly could. But tonight, he'd hold back, just for Olivia.

They had been there for only twenty or so minutes doing absolutely nothing while everyone sat drinking, making out, or making some type of small talk.

Olivia and Jeremiah on the other hand stood in the ocean, gently splashing each other.

"So? Thoughts on Belly?" Jeremiah asked.

"Um, from the two seconds that I got to talk to her? She was pretty cool."

"That Belly flop was necessary." Jeremiah laughed, "You want one?"

"Do not touch me." She smiled, backing away.

Jeremiah grabbed her by her waist, pulling her close.

Before he got the chance to lift her, he caught sight of Belly standing in front of Conrad and Nichole.

"Hey, look! Belly came."

"I thought you said she wasn't coming."

"I didn't think she would." He smiled, grabbing Olivia's hand and dragging her towards Belly.

"We can all hang out." He smiled once he stood in front of Belly.

"I'm about to take her home." Steven said.

"What?" Belly questioned.

"Yeah, we're leaving. Are you kidding me?"

"Okay, Steven, chill out." Jeremiah said, "Come on. Go- go hang out with Shayla or something."

Shayla, who currently stood next to Steven spoke, "Let's go. Come on."

He sighed, "Fine."

As he began walking away Belly turned, "Fuck you!" She shouted, flipping him off in the process.

"Listen," Jeremiah started, "We're happy you're here."

"Jeremiah!" A girl called.

Jeremiah was a person that everyone in Cousins found attractive and it didn't matter who you were. They flirted at any possible chance they could.

He'd, obviously, never flirted back, but he'd talk to whoever it was just to get them off his back.

"You two, get to know each other and I'll be right back." He smiled.

Jeremiah ran off and essentially left the two girls alone.

Belly didn't hesitate to leave and find a spot, for what Olivia assumed, herself but followed after.

Jeremiah had been adamant about her and Belly become friends.

It was something that was hard for Olivia to do, but she'd try, for Jeremiah of course.

She sat next to Belly, tucking her legs close.

"So, how long have you've known the Fisher's?" Olivia asked.

Belly sighed, "All my life it's seems. Our mom's are best friends."

Olivia nodded, "That's cool. That they've been friends for this long."

Olivia tried her best to not make it seem awkward and that she was actually interested in what the two were talking about. She just didn't know how to move on from that question.

"How long have you and Jeremiah been dating?" Belly asked.

"Two years."

Belly smiled.

Jeremiah was known to get around... a lot. The fact that he was currently settled down with Olivia was pretty shocking to a lot of people.

"He talks about you all the time." Belly said, "Kept say how alike we are."

Olivia only smiled.

"Do you think everyone saw me fall?"

Olivia held a tight lip, "Yeah, but I promise you they don't care anymore. They're either too drunk to remember or are trying to get someone to have sex with them."

Belly laughed. She could she why Jeremiah liked her so much. She was funny like him and never failed to make anyone smile.

There conversation had been cut pretty short by a guy, who introduced himself as, what sounded like some sort of fucked up nickname he had.

But he know Belly and not Olivia which made things awkward for her so she left the two alone.

But Belly wasn't by his side long as an argument between Conrad and Jumper.

Olivia ran towards the commotion and Belly soon joined her side and by a near miss, the boy had elbowed Olivia in the face.

She fell into the sand, her hands covering her face.

"Liv." Conrad spoke, but was instantly hit in the stomach.

Jeremiah rushed to Olivia's side as Belly helped her to her feet.

"Are you okay?" Jeremiah asked.

She had no time to answer as several cop cars drove towards them.

Jeremiah grabbed Olivia's hand, looking around for Belly as she disappeared.

The two of them ran towards the Jeep.

A pretty shitty way to end the night.

Olivia sat in the Jeep, her arms crossed in front of her as Jeremiah jumped into the drivers seat.

Belly, on the other hand, had met up with Cam, or how he introduced Cam Cameron.

She was going to catch a ride how with him but Jeremiah didn't want her to ride home with a complete stranger.

She rolled her eyes, kissing Cameron goodbye and got into the backseat with a drunk Conrad.

"Oh shit! Steven." Jeremiah said.

He hopped out the car, insisting that Olivia walk with him to find the boy.

She was hesitant but follow Jeremiah out.

They'd walked the beach looking for him in a sea of police cars and kids still running to get away.

"I'm really sorry about your eye." He apologized.

"You didn't do it, did you?" She asked, "Unless you set me up."

Though she had absolutely ate shit when she was hit in the face, she could only laugh at this event happening to her.

There was a handful of people at the party that could've been shocked in the eye, but fate chose her.

"Of course. I told that scrawny ass dude with sharp ass elbows to sock my girlfriend in the face because she wouldn't let me belly flop her in the ocean."

Olivia chuckled, pushing Jeremiah away from her.

"Let me see."

Jeremiah stood in front of Olivia, taking his phone out of his pocket to turn the flashlight on to examine her eye.

"Is it bad doctor?" She asked.

"Nah, could've been worse. He could've completely blinded you."

Jeremiah put his phone away and tilted Olivia's head down to kiss her forehead.

"Hey!" A cop called, "Y'all been drinking?"

AFTER THE officer dropped Olivia off at home and spoke to Jessie she'd examined her eye in the mirror.

It was definitely going to bruise, but there wasn't much she could do about that.

Her phone dinged by her side and she glanced down as a message from Jeremiah came through.

She laughed at the message and took a picture of herself holding a bag of frozen peas on her eye.

She sent to him with a reassuring message letting him know that he couldn't prevent it and that it wasn't his fault.

Olivia knew that Jeremiah could do no wrong.
