PLAY IT forward had been something that Olivia had never done and talked about doing it with Jeremiah since she found out about the beach volleyball event.
That was definitely a no go now.
She wanted to make one thing very clear to herself, no matter how much she wanted to hate Jeremiah she couldn't.
"Good morning, sweetheart." Jessie smiled.
"Morning."
"Conrad stayed pretty late last night."
"Probably had one too many margarita shots." Olivia teased, "He wanted to make sure that I was okay."
"Are you?"
Olivia glanced up, "I mean, I will be. I think I'm okay."
Olivia couldn't stop loving Jeremiah over night even if he seemed to move on with ease. That really didn't matter to Olivia. What matter to her was that she was free from a relationship that seemed to be going down the drain.
"I'm going for a walk." She said, "I need to breath before the volleyball event."
"You're still doing that?" Jessie asked.
"No, but it wouldn't hurt to go."
Olivia grabbed her water bottle and her keys and left the house.
Her walk had been swiftly cut short by Belly Conklin.
It was seven in the morning and Olivia could only assume that Belly was out to get prepared for the tournament.
"Hey." Liv smiled, "What are you doing out so early?"
"Um... fresh air. Clear my mind."
At this point, Olivia had no idea that Belly and Jeremiah had made out in the pool.
Jeremiah had made it abundantly clear that Olivia had broken up with him before kissing Belly, but that didn't stop the girl from feeling awkward about it the next day.
"Wanna walk with me?" Olivia asked, "You're in the tournament aren't you? I can help you practice."
Belly furrowed her brows but agreed regardless. She was confused as to why Olivia was being the same with her. So kind to her.
The two of them finally made it to the beach, grabbing a volleyball that had be conveniently left behind and began hitting the ball back and forth.
"You're pretty good at this." Belly smiled.
"I play for my school's team." Olivia smiled, "Something my mom and I do for fun."
It was became silent between the two of them. The sounds of them grunting and the ball being hit had been the only noise that they focused on.
"Do you have a partner for the tournament?" Olivia asked.
"Yeah. Taylor's coming down for awhile." Belly answered, "What about you?"
"I dropped the event last night. My partner and I decided that it was best to part."
Olivia felt that she had to speak to Jeremiah one last time about their relationship. She needed to sit down and actually talk to him before feeling like she could move on.
Olivia caught the ball that Belly had hit and grabbed her water bottle from the sand.
"You're good Belly. I would say watch out for Ava's team. Heard they were ruthless."
Belly nodded. She felt that Olivia should've tackled her to the ground, clawed her eyes out, slap the shit out of her, something. She'd kissed someone who'd just gotten out of a relationship, but Olivia had not nothing to harm Belly.
Did Belly fuck up? Yeah, sometimes, but who didn't. It's not like she hurt Olivia in any shape, way, or form. Olivia was... jealous of Belly per se. Olivia was never mad at Belly. She didn't nothing wrong. She might've been the reason her and Jeremiah broke up, but she never acted on his flirting until last night.
"I should go hit the showers before the event." Olivia said, "Good luck out there, Belly."
She waved Belly goodbye and left alone on the beach. Though before leaving she did catch Conrad and Olivia meeting halfway.
"Early morning surf?" Olivia asked.
"Care to join?"
Olivia soon found herself sitting on the surfboard with Conrad on the other end.
"Feeling better I assume." Conrad said.
"Yeah." She sighed, "I'll get over it. I'm sure he has by now."
The two of them sat in the middle of the ocean. Conrad would push them every now and then closer to shore, but everything felt peaceful for Olivia and that was the one thing that she wanted.
"Are you still going to the deb with Jere?"
Olivia glanced up, "Um... I don't know. I have to talk to him. I know I feel fine but I don't I'll get any closure if I don't talk to him about everything."
Conrad hadn't known about the kiss either. The kiss between Belly and Jeremiah was strictly between them. Well, not true. Belly had told Taylor.
Taylor was team Belly and Jeremiah... obviously.
Olivia brushed her hand over the water and gently splashed Conrad, small smile on her face.
"I don't know." She said, "I just-"
She was cut of when Conrad basically threw water onto Olivia.
"Feels nice doesn't it?" He asked with a smile, "It really wakes you up."
Conrad had been oddly giddy and smiley these past couple of weeks. It almost shocked Olivia.
She seen the boy mope around for month. His smile really made her day.
The splashing between them continued until Olivia fell off the board.
"Shit." Conrad muttered, "Liv?"
He didn't see her on either side of the surfboard and as soon as he was about to dive in to save her from her expecting doom, he soon fell off the board himself. Olivia pushing the board causing him to fall off.
Olivia laughed and pushed the board closer to her, but was quickly dragged underwater by her legs.
She pointed up and the two of them swam towards the surface.
Olivia chuckled, wiping some of the water from her face.
Conrad let his smile drop slowly. He could only stare at Olivia.
"I'll never have a dull moment with you will I?" Olivia asked. She finally looked his way and her small smile still held strong on her face, "What?"
He swam closer to her, brushing the wet hair from her face. He looked nervous and Olivia wasn't an idiot.
Her heart beating out of her chest and not knowing if this would be okay.
Would kissing Conrad be okay? She couldn't give a straight answer. She wouldn't know that consequences, if any, of kissing him right here, right now.
Olivia rested her forehead against his and closed her eyes. Conrad's hand still resting on her cheek.
He wasn't going to make a move unless he got some sort of sign from Olivia to do so.
Olivia fluttered her eyes open and smiled at Conrad. She nodded slowly.
Conrad smiled and their lips meet in a tender kiss, her cheek felt hot against his hand and her skin deepened in color.
She giggled into the kiss. It was a good kiss, exactly what Conrad had been angling for. She practically felt him smirking.
Conrad said he would treat Olivia like a dime... hopefully he could keep that promise.
