SO FAR so great. Nothing could possibly go wrong. Well... that could've been true.

She stood with her mother as she began talking Conrad's head off about being Olivia's escort.

She laughed as she turned, watching Jeremiah sneak outside with Susannah's phone in his pocket.

She excused herself from the duo and followed Jeremiah outside.

She couldn't find the curly-haired boy anywhere. Until she found his sitting with his back facing away from her.

"Jeremiah?" She called.

He quickly stood, wiping his face, and shoving the phone in his pocket.

"Hey." He sniffled, "What are doing? Party's inside."

"Can't be that crazy of a party if the party prince himself isn't inside." She joked, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah... I'm good." He laughed. He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the entrance, "Let's go. We'll miss the whole dance scene."

"Jere?" She pulled, wiping the tears off his face, "We're still talking buddies you know?"

"Are we?"

She sighed, "I know we didn't end things on the best note, but I don't think you should be out here crying when there someone inside waiting for their dance."

"I'm good, Liv. I just- my mom... she has cancer and I don't think she's been- taking treatments or getting help."

Olivia held a tight lip, tugging on Jeremiah's hand, and the two of them sat on the ground.

"You'll get your dress dirty."

Olivia sighed, "I don't think that's so important right now."

Jeremiah held Olivia's hand tightly as he used the other one to wipe of tear-stained face.

"I've been pretty shitty to you all summer. Why are you sitting with me?" He sniffed.

"You weren't shitty all summer." She smiled, wiping his face, "And just because you were shitty to me doesn't mean I'm gonna be shitty to you. Especially now."

The two of them sat in a comfortable silence. Jeremiah had stopped crying at this point and Olivia helped him off the ground.

"Come on. We've already missed the dance, but that doesn't mean you can't give Belly a good time still."

The two of them returned to the venue and Olivia gave Jeremiah's hand one last squeeze before separating.

"Where were you?" Melody asked, "I had to watch Belly and Conrad dancing."

"Something a little more important came up."

"More important than watching Belly swing around with Conrad?"

"Way more important."

Well, that didn't seem to matter anymore because Jeremiah had began throwing punches towards Conrad for not telling him about Susannah's cancer.

The night had ended prematurely and everyone decided to gather around at the Fisher's to have a somewhat peaceful dinner.

Then morning came.

Olivia and Conrad sat on the beach at the crack of dawn.

"I can't believe she said yes." Conrad smiled.

"You changed her mind. It's not like she can say no to you." Olivia said.

Susannah, as much as she didn't want to, was going to go through with the treatment.

"Oh, it wasn't me. It was Jere. He did it." He paused, "Was this the summer you were expecting?"

"No, but... things happen. And my things aren't as bad as what they seem." She sighed, "I wish you told me, so you weren't going through all this shit alone."

"I almost did a couple of times." He smiled, "There's so many things I want to say to you."

"Can it wait til I have some cereal in my body? I'm starving." She said standing.

She watched him stand closely behind her and she sighed. She didn't want anything to start when he was already going through one of the toughest moments in his life.

"Look, Conrad, you're going through a lot and I want to be there to help you, but... so much could go wrong and I don't want to ruin what we could have."

"Maybe that's what I need."

"I'll tell you what... you need me? Call, and I'll be right there; and if I need you... you'll be there."

"I can work with that."

Though Olivia's summer didn't go as planned, she could definitely say it was a summer she could remember.

It was only a matter of time before things could come crashing down and if she truly needed someone... he would treat her like a motherfucking dime.
