Chapter 1
I was humming in class, not caring about the work that was assigned, only because there was five minutes left in class and the english teacher wasn't going to collect the work at the end of class. My best friend, Taylor, stood up from her seat and sat in the empty one next to mine. She was smiling, making sure to show all of her teeth, even the shiny red braces she had on for a couple years now. I smiled back and continued to draw on my desk with my eraser, leaving a dry trail of eraser shavings. She was pulling my jean jacket to get my attention, I looked over again, I waved and kept my attention on her.
She opened her mouth to speak, but I put my head down and took a quick glance at her. Her mouth was gaped open. It took a lot of willpower not to laugh. She tapped me again, this time, as a loyal friend, I was ready to listen to what she had to say.
"Hi peaches," she smiled and handed me a flyer. It was an advertisement for the glee club.
"No...no...no. You know I hate singing, dancing, and all of that jazz," I whispered to her, she frowned at me. I knew exactly what she was thinking, 'how could you not want to join Glee Club? You're my best friend, we do everything together.'
"How could you not want to join Glee Club? You're my best friend, we do everything together," I knew it. Regardless of the fact that she knew I didn't like to sing, she wouldn't give up, no matter how many times I say no to her. "But I heard you singing in the shower yesterday when I slept over your house. Just join the club with me, you'll like it," she pleaded.
I shook my head, "Taylor, I'm not joining Glee Club. It sounds stupid. End of discussion."
"What if I make you join Glee Club?" I glanced over at her giving her a look with my eyebrows scrunched together, making it look like there was no space in between.
"Highly unlikely. You're just gonna have to stop; you're not going to win this one," I chuckled stuffing the papers on my desk into my backpack and walking out the classroom as the bell rang.
"What if I told your mother that you snuck into my dad's liquor cabinet when my parents were away and got drunk?" She smiled evilly, cocking up an eyebrow.
"You wouldn't?" I tried to catch her bluff. She was dead face. No movements.
"Try me," she spoke bluntly. I sighed and nodded my head, "And you will try your best when you audition. We will join Glee Club."
"Are the boys-"
"Of course the boys are joining. It will be no fun if they didn't," she giggled.
"Taylor, I'm still not so sure. This is your thing, not mine," I pleaded to her
We met our other friend, Billy, in the hall, standing by the water fountain; his usual waiting place for us.
"Billy, Michelle is going to join the glee club with us, isn't that great?" Taylor's voice went up an octave as she said that in a sing song voice.
"Michelle, I thought you didn't like to sing?" He asked with an eyebrow up and the other one down.
At least someone understood me. "I don't, but princess over here is blackmailing me to," I may be proud of her for her sneaky and conniving ways, I was really not pleased that I was being forced to join the glee club.
Not to far ahead of us was my boyfriend, Henry, our other friend. He grabbed my hand and kissed it. My cheeks blushed a fire red. Henry sees the flyer on Taylor's hand and stops in his tracks. "No, I'm not doing it."
"Yes, you are. You agreed to it," Taylor baby voiced her voice to play mind games with him.
He shook his head and pointed at her, "No, you agreed to it. I never did," he stood his ground. Literally he wasn't moving.
"Just give up. I'm joining. But, I'm doing it because my friend wants me to," I put the flyer down his shirt and took his hand and continued to walk forward.
"So, what song is everyone going to sing? I, myself, am going to sing Hurt by, the one, the only, best singer in the world, Christina Aguilera," Taylor clapped after saying her name. The girl was crazy about Christina.
"Well, I've given this much thought since yesterday, and I'm going to sing Back Together, by my favorite singer since I was seven, Jesse McCartney. He gave me relationship advice," Billy nodded his head, reminiscing eight years ago.
"Serenading the song Beautiful Soul to me is not relationship advice. It's just a song that made me feel less about you than what I already was at that moment when I was six," Taylor clapped back, Billy clutched his heart playfully.
We all looked over to Henry, "I'm going to sing Demons by the Imagine Dragons, only because I have to."
I giggled at him. Soon they were staring at me. I didn't have a song in mind at the moment, so I chose the song I was listening to for over a week straight. "I'm gonna sing Just A Friend To You by Meghan Trainor."
Taylor started to freak out, "Oh my gosh, that's your shower song. You are going to kill it with that song."
We reached the choir room and sat on the closest empty chairs they had. "Welcome guys," Mr. Schuester, the club director, greeted as kids walked through the door.
