Marinette's POV

I'm coughing up pink petals and blood as I run and hide from Adrien. I feel the thorns stab into my skin from the inside.

"Marinette!" Tikki gasps. "Why didn't you tell me?!"

I shake my head and collapse against the school building wall. I hold my knees tight to my chest and rest my head. The un peaks through the oak trees and bushes against my dark blue hair. I quietly sob. Tikki sighs and rests on my head.

"You were right," I quietly confess.

"Right about what?" The tiny kwami asks.

I shake my head in disbelief. "I... I have it."

I look at Tikki with bright blue eyes.

"I have the hanahaki disease."

"Why didn't you just tell Adrien you love him?" Tikki asks, frustrated.

A tear slips down my cheek. "You heard him! He loves someone else!"

Tikki stutters, then scoffs and rolls her eyes.

"T-Tikki? Are you okay? You never act like that," I ask concerned.

"You'll figure out soon. I hope," she sighs. "Let's go to Master Fu. He'll know what to do!"

"Master Fu?" I ask as I knock on his front door with the back of my hand.

I hear the old door creak and it opens wide. Behind it stands a short man.

"Ah, Marinette. I was wondering when you would come."

"Y-You mean you knew?" I stutter.

"Yes, yes. I know everything. Now come inside before someone sees you," he returns in a husk voice.

I walk into his tiny room and sit cross-legged on the floor. He hands me a warm cup of tea. I gasp it with both hands, and take a deep breath in. I feel the steam against my face. I smile and take a sip. The warm liquid craws down my throat and I instantly feel relieved. The heat from the tea calms the tears in my skin from the thorns, and thank god, because the pain was unbearable.

"I could sense something was wrong with the miraculous," Master Fu informs.

I tilt my head in curiosity. "What do you mean?"

Master Fu takes a sip of the tea and sighs. "I could feel the thorns growing inside of you; choking your heart."

"So... it's true?" I mumble. "If I don't confess, the thorns will tighten so much that they... they could ki-"

"-Yes," Master Fu interrupts, "but that won't happen. You need to confess to Adrien, Marinette."

"I try, Master, I really do!" I argue. "Can't I just talk to Chat Noir about this?"

"I'm afraid that won't be possible. He already has enough on his plate right now. His heart couldn't worry about you too."

I gasp quietly, digging my fingers into the tea cup. "You don't mean..."

He leans back and smirks. "He loves you, Marinette. Chat Noir loves Ladybug so, so much."

I open my mouth to ask a question, but we both her a knock at the door. I immediately glance up at Master Fu. He holds his index finger over his lips, signaling me to stay quiet, then uses his other to point towards a corner. There's a table with plants in front. He wants me to hide. I nod and quickly make my way over to the table, and craw underneath it. I bring the potted place in front of me. This blocks me from the visitors view, but in return, it also blocks mine. I have no idea who came in until Master Fu announced it.

"Ah, Chat Noir. Come in. I've been expecting you," he greets.

I hear Chat Noir's footsteps as he walks towards Master Fu. I hear him sit down on the floor.

"Claws in," Chat Noir mutters, and a bright green light fills the room.

A part of me itches to peak out and see who's under the mask, but I know if I move to see him, he'll be able to see me too. So instead, I stay right where I am with my view blocked by the potted plants.

"Master Fu..." Chat Noir hesitantly begins. "I'm worried."

"Is it about Ladybug?" Master Fu asks.

Chat sighs. "I love her so much, but she doesn't love me. Am I really too late?"

They're so far away I can barely hear what they're talking about. I could have sworn I heard Master Fu tell Chat Noir that I loved him as a civilian, but that couldn't have been true.

"Your heart is turning into glass," Master Fu informs.

Chat Noir grumbles. "Yeah, that's what I figured."

I quietly gasp to myself. So I was right.

"He's too love sick over that Ladybug girl! I try and tell him that cheese will never reject you, but he never listens!"

"That's Plagg, Chat Noir's kwami!" I hear Tikki whisper. "He's cute but has too much of a temper."

I smirk, even though it's dark and she can't see me. "You like him, don't you?"

"A lot," she replies.

I smile and continue to eaves drop into the conversation.

"Is there anyone else?" Master Fu asks.

"What do you mean?"

Plagg laughs. "Duh blondie, he means is there anyone else you like! If you move on from Ladybug and find another girl, your glass heart will be cured!"

I quietly scoff from my hiding spot. "Another girl? Please."

"Jealous?" Tikki giggles.

"Pft, jealous of Chat Noir? No way. He just better know he can't replace me," I say with a smirk.

"Well," Chat Noir begins, interrupting my thoughts. "There's this girl. Her name is Marinette."

I gasp. Me?

I roll my eyes. Even when I'm in civilian form he can't help but crush on me.

He sighs. "But I don't know if I like her."

Oh.

"Honestly, I don't think she really even likes me. I think she's just a really good friend."

I choke. Of course. Leave it to me to get friend zoned twice in one day.

"Oh Marinette..." Tikki whispers.

I shake my head and smile a weak grin. "No, it's okay. Honestly. He needs to move on anyways, right? If he just moved on from Ladybug to me, then he really wouldn't be moving on, now would he?"

"You seemed hurt," she points out.

I roll my eyes. "Me? Hurt? No, never!"

"I thought you would at least have a little bit of feeling towards Chat Noir," she mumbles.

I look away. "Maybe I would have given Chat Noir a chance, but Adrien came first. I promised my heart to him."

"That boy sure loves you, huh nosy?" I hear Plagg ask in my ear.

I immediately jump up and scream, hitting my head on the table above me. I groan and crumble to the ground with my hands holding my head.

"Plagg! Look what you did, she's broken!" Tikki shouts.

Plagg shrugs. "She shouldn't have been snooping in the first place."

"But you must have been snooping to hear what we were talking about," I point out, still holding my head. "Aren't you supposed to be with Chat Noir?"

Plagg shakes his head. "Master took him out of the room to get more tea."

I sigh from relief and craw out from my tiny hiding spot. I stand up tall and stretch my arms out wide.

"I can't believe the irony," I hear Plagg mumble.

"What do you mean the irony?!"

"You have a crush on-"

"-Actually, don't finish that sentence. I don't want to know his identity," I reply with my eyes rolling.

"I'm just saying!" Plagg continues. "I don't get how Master Fu can stand to watch you two. It's like he enjoys to watch y'all suffer."

"Plagg, shut your tiny mouth before Marinette connects the dots!" Tikki snaps.

I grumble. "I hate that y'all know who he is under the mask and taunt me with it. He's probably just some blondie that gets all of his puns from his mom or something."

Plagg freezes and looks at me with huge eyes, slowly shaking his head.

I hear the door open from behind me and I whip my head around. "M-Master Fu? Is Chat Noir behind you?"

"No, I was walking him out, but apparently his kwami wasn't behind him!" Master Fu snaps, looking right at Plagg.

"That poor kid just can't live without me. See you tomorrow, Marinette!" Plagg replies.

Tomorrow? What does he mean? Does Chat Noir... go to my school?

Plagg disappears and Master Fu closes the door. Once again, its just Tikki, Master and I in the tiny room.

"So... Chat's heart is turning into glass?" I quietly ask.

Master Fu nods solemnly.

"Well what can I do about it?" I urgently ask. "I want to help him. He's my partner, after all!"

Master Fu places his hand on my shoulder.

"Be there for him, Marinette. There are so many sides to him that you don't know. He hides a lot from you. He has a very rough home life. You don't know Chat Noir at all."

I hesitantly nod and hold my hands to my chest. I thank him for the tea and make my way out of his house and back home. By the time I'm back out into the Paris streets, it's already evening. I hold myself as I walk down the sidewalk looking down. What Master Fu said keeps replaying in my head: You don't know Chat Noir at all.

Of course I do! I know that he's funny, loyal, and caring. His favorite color is green. Or, is it? I only see him in black and green, so I guess that's why I made that assumption. Maybe it's not. I don't know his home life either.

He's right. I don't know Chat Noir.

"Marinette, look!" Tikki shouts.

I look up at my balcony and gasp. It's Chat Noir! He really did keep his promise to visit me again.

I may not know Chat Noir that well, but that's going to change tonight.

Chat Noir's POV

"Princess!" I exclaim when she opens the door from her bedroom allowing me into her bedroom.

"Sorry you had to wait. I was, uh... getting dressed." She explains rubbing the back of her neck.

I smirk. "It's no problem, really."

I walk into her room, and for the first time, I really can see how her room looks. There's lots of pink. Fairy lights drape from the ceiling. The lights are warm. She really likes to sew too, which I can conclude from all of her fabrics out on her table. I take a step closer and notice there's magazine clippings. Magazine clippings of a certain boy.

Me.

"Mari, who's this?" I ask, pointing to the magazine picture of myself.

"Oh, that's A-Adrien Agreste," she stutters, looking away.

I snicker. "You sure have a lot of pictures of him. Do you like him?"

She frantically waves her hands in the air and shakes her head. "N-No!"

I toss the magazine over my shoulder and close my eyes with my hand on my hip.

"Good, 'cause he's a piece of trash. He has no personality," I remark.

She shoves me and snatches the magazine out of my hand.

"Don't ever talk about him like that," she snaps. "He's wonderful."

I feel a light tint of blush craw across my cheeks. "Really?"

"You don't know him like I do. His father treats him so badly. He has to deal with everyone's expectations of him. Some people don't even give him a chance, because he's rich," she coldly explains. "But he tries so hard. He care about others even if they miss-treat him."

She looks at me with bright blue eyes.

"He's wonderful, and everyone should know that."

She smiles and hugs the magazine, then looks back at me.

"Chat, are you okay? You're... you're crying!"

I realize a tear slipped down my cheek, and then another one. I shake my head and chuckle a fake laugh. "I'm fine princess, it's just allergies."

She glares at me, then smiles and shakes her head. She grabs my hand and pulls me into the bed with her. We both fall down into her tiny bed. I realize I'm on top of her and try to stand up, but she pulls me back down on top of her. She runs her gentle hands through my messy hair.

"You're always trying to hide your emotions," she whispers. "Why?"

"You wouldn't like who I really am," I mutter.

"Oh, but I'm sure I would. This is the real you," she explains. "You're under a mask. Nobody can assume they know you. You can be whoever you want with no consequences."

I look at her with my big emerald eyes. She rolls me over to the side of her and we're shoulder to shoulder laying down.

"I want to get to know you, Chat Noir. I know nothing about you, but that's got to change."

"Do you... do you really mean that?" I whisper.

She eagerly nods. "You're my favorite cat to be with, and I hope I'm your favorite Mari to be with."

I reach over and hug her. Tight. After a while, I pull away. She looks at me and tilts her head, holding her hand on my chin.

"Chat?" She asks.

"Yes?"

"You're crying again."

"I know."
