Clash of champions
At long last the final day of the annual gladatoruim had arrived. Seven days of bloodshed and barbaric display of violence filled the needs of the common Durogudu people, all in preparation for today's climactic event.
The stadium filled to the brim in anticipation for today's event. Never before sense the addition of grand champion Mirror had a challenger rose through the ranks so quickly and devastated the competition so easily. Everyone knew who was going to win this match yet the thrill of competitive battle still raged in the hearts of the audience.
But up in the emperor's chambers the grand sorcerer Warlin was not so pleased with the wisdom of his master the emperor. "Your highness should you really stoop so low as to gamble on the combatants?" He said gripping his crystal tipped staff.
"Oh don't be so innocent Warlin. This will be a walk in the park for mirror." The emperor said placing his bets on the chrome skinned warrior
"My liege it is not the bet I worry for but the outcome of this battle."
"Don't be silly, no one can beat Mirror. The man, or whatever he is is an unstoppable force of nature. No one can defeat him." The emperor said turning around.
As the two men walked up to the emperor's watch stand Warlin continued to elaborate on his concerns. "Did we not think the same of Titanis before? That no one could stop him?"
"Look I don't know what all Titanis was able to do or how powerful he was. But I know Mirror. Mirror won't let us down, no, he won't let me down." The emperor said assuring his claim.
"Nothing lasts forever my liege. I have a bad feeling about this challenger..." Warlin said. "I can't place my finger on it but he feels... Familiar in a way... Though I have never met this... monstrosity before I can't shake the feeling that there is something big going on here... Something... Otherworldly..."
"And that's coming from the guy who literally robs people from their own worlds." The emperor said keeping his eyes ahead of him.
"Well yes but that is different." Warlin explained. "But this... Thing... I can't shake the feeling that the outcome of this battle will shake the foundations of the empire itself. Maybe even the world."
"You know you worry too much." The emperor said dismissing the wizard's concerns completely. "Even if Mirror loses and that is a very big if mind you, so what? We've replaced grand champions before. Remember? Titanis?" He said rasing an eyebrow. To which the arch wizard had no comeback.
"Oh settle down Warlin. It's been an exciting Gladatoruim. We've had mages, warriors, metal men monsters even guys with nifty gadgets I've never even seen before. We deserve to savor the climax of the Gladatoruim! Just sit back and enjoy the show for a change. The emperor said taking his seat. Warlin would watch the battle by his highness side but would keep his uncertainties and concerns to himself for the remainder of the event.
Once the crowd had settled down a bit the commentary would make his pre battle speach. With a rase of the emperors hand the remainder of the noise from the crowd went silent allowing the commentary to speak. "Gooooood morning subjects of the Durogudu empire!" He called out in a thundering voice. "It is with great honor and pleasure that I announce the grand spectical of this years Gladatorium event!"
As the commentary spoke both the emperor and Warlin looked down at the arena gates to see if both fighters were in position. "Now let's take a look at our combatants shall we? On the west side we have our beloved reigning champion fighter Mirror!"
The heavy metal gate rose up allowing the silvery chrome figure to emerge his skin shining like a star as it reflected the sunlight. The crowd went wild in a dephning roar of praise and excitement at the appearance of Mirror. Throwing his gold and scarlet cape aside Mirror flexed his silvery physic as he normally did before his time for battle.
The second commentary would chime in. "You know you're a grand champion when you remain undefeated for five generations." "Indeed like Titanis before him we are truly blessed to have a grand champion with such longevity as mister Mirror." "And his complexion hasn't changed a bit sense day one. So I've been told." "Mirror had so gle handedly changed the script of the Gladatorium by mimicing the moves and skills of his goes to match them blow for blow. A truly I testing way to dominate if I do say so myself."
"And in the east corner we have the challenger! A creature so large, so powerful, so mind bendingly strong that no other fighter has ever risen to the top of the scoreboard as fast as he. With the exception of mirror himself. I give you all, challenger Gilgamein!"
The gate didn't even have time to open before the colossal Gilgamein smashed it out of its grooves and sent it flying with rock debris flying out with it. Walking out in to the stadium the mighty warrior growled a beastly growl like that of a rabid animal ready to prey. With two sets of arms and the body of a giant the challenger was ready to break mirror right where he stood.
"This monstrosity may be just as much a freak of nature as mirror himself!" One of the commentary said. "This man used brute force to muscle through some crazy battles this year, but can his strength save him from mister Mirror?"
Mirror watched the gate come crashing down and saw the giant emerge like a lion out of its kennel. Yet he was not the slightest bit intimidated instead brushing off the dust from his shoulder.
The two warriors stared each other down before the commentary spoke again. "Now you all know the rules, there are non. But in the Gladatorium it's killed or be killed." "Now let's shut the hell up and watch this firework show! It's time for the climax of the annual gladatoriuuuuuum!"
As the crowd erupted in applause and cheer Mirror wasted no time in his transformation becoming a direct replica of his foe in a matter of seconds.
The demons eyes went wide at the sight of his transformation and took a step backwards in awe and confusion. "What kind of black sorcery is this?" He growled in a seemingly angry tone. To which Mirror replied in like manner.
"Oh this is no magic boy. This is all me." Mirror said mimicking the demons voice flawlessly.
"Whatever." Gilgamein said cracking his knuckles like firework rockets. "Ripping you apart will still be a walk in the park."
Mirror gave a confident yet cocky smile at this remark. "Well then by all means, I'll allow you to strike me first." He said opening his arms wide.
"Big mistake." With a blood curdling shriek the mighty demon lunged at his copy throwing two fists right at him. Only to have said fists blocked by the fists of his counterpart.
When suddenly a powerful shockwave sprang out across the arena as mirror was pushed backwards almost falling over.
The crowd went silent at the sight. Never before had so eone managed to overpower mirror in his copy form before. Not only that but to throw him off balance without being directly copied back. Even the emperor noticed this who would lean forward in his seat both in shock and fascination.
"Ok... Lucky shot..." Mirror said mimicking the demons voice whilst shaking his hand. "But don't think a little cheap shot is gonna stop me."
Gilgamein would give him no further time to speak before making his next move. With a spring in his step the demon sprang forward leading a charge with his firearms for a ram attack. Mirror would perform the same move only to once again be knocked backwards, this time falling on to his back.
The emperor rose from his seat in fear for mirror. This had never happened before and he was speechless. While the rest of the crowd wasn't sure what to think. Some would encourage mirror to try harder while others switched sides and rooted for Gilgamein.
Mirror stood up holding his arm in pain. "H-how is this possible?" He said trying to hide his fear.
"Because I'm Gilgamein bitch!" He said going full beast mode on mirror. Starting with a head butt mirror was sent staggering while the demon lord remained unfazed. He then proceeded to grip mirrors copy arm and snap it with a loud crunch.
Mirror was losing control, and bit by bit his body changed back to his chrome form. "Yes, yes! Shrink down you warrior wannabe!" Gilgamein taunted as he destroyed him further.
Gripping his face the mighty demon lord lifted his foe in the air and slammed two fists in to his silver chest sending him flying backwards and crashing in to the stone wall of the arena. Upon impact the audience above the crash sight shuffled around out of fear of the wall segment they stood on might collapse. Though it never did.
The emperor and Warlin looked at each other in astonishment. Was this it? Had mirror finally met his match?
When the dust settled mirror was seen back in his chrome form writhing in pain as several bones had been shattered. He looked up at his enemy for the first time with fear in his heart. He knew the rules of the Gladatorium and he knew what was going to happen to him now. A fact made all the more clear when the audience started to chant one by one. "Finish it! Finish it! Finish it!"
Gilgamein approached the chrome fighter to do just that. His feet vibrating the very earth with each step seemingly in sync with mirrors rapid heart as it pounded in his chest.
With what little strength he had he looked around to find something, anything he might use to escape his fate. But seeing his time running out he grabbed the first thing he could, a hand full of debris and dust and flung it at the giants face.
Gilgamein flinched at the sudden attack but made no sound of pain as he wiped his face quickly. "Now or never, now or never!" Mirror thought as he watched the demon stagger a little bit.
With two broken arms and a shattered leg mirror frantically pulled himself up and hobbled over to the exit. An act that sent a dagger in the eyes of the emperor. "What does he think he is doing?" He bellowed. "How dare he disgrace the Gladatorium in such a cowardly act!"
Gilgamein also noticed the chrome warrior trying to flee and sought to catch him. "Where do you think you're going? Come back here and face your death with honor!" He said stomping over to him.
But mirror would not be swayed by honor. He hobbled along as fast as he could and it looked like he may just reach the exit in time. All the while the audience had completely turned against him now seeing him run away. They bood and mocked him with a feeling of betrayal in their hearts. How could someone so powerful and loyal to the empire show such a hideous display of cowardice in the face of destiny?
Suddenly the emperor called out as he stood up straight. "Stop him Warlin!"
"Yes milord." He replied taking a step forward. With a spring in his step the wizard conjured a mi nature cyclone around his feet allowing him to hover over to the gate mirror was fleeing to.
At the same time the gate keepers at the top of the wall heard the emperor give the order to stop him and so began lowering the heavy iron gate. But to everyone's disfavor the grand champion managed to get to the other side just in time for the gate to close leaving Warlin and Gilgamein on the other side.
He wouldn't even be tempted to look back one last time. He just kept going. Fleeing further and further away as he heard the people chanting in his disgrace.
Gilgamein pounded on the gate in an attempt to bust it down Warlin would stop him by placing a hand on his arm. "Stop. You already broke down one of our gates."
"You're not gonna let him get away with this are you?" Gilgamein replied."
"Of course not. He won't get far. And if he does, it will only be a matter of time before your paths cross again. I can sense it."
At this Gilgamein loosened up his muscles and regained his posture. "Fine. I'll bide my time. For now. But I want recompense for this disgrace."
"Then smite one of the guards on your way out. Lives only exist to be taken." The wizard said making his way back to the emperor.
"You let him escape!?" He cried out in anger.
"Yes." Warlin said confidently. "We'll let him think he's free for now. He'll be back. And we will deal with him properly when he does. Trust me milord. I have never steered you wrong before."
"Very well. I'll allow this to pass." The emperor said with a sigh. He then turned to face the people before calling out. "My royal subjects! Today marks a turning point for our grand spectacle!" He shouted in a thundering voice as it echoes across the arena.
"History is made on this day. May the legacy of the befallen champion Mirror live on as an example to us all. And of course as custom dictates, with the fall of a grand champion comes the rise of a new one. Like a Phoenix from the ashes a new grand champion stands before us. It is an honor that I present to you, grand champion Gilgamein!"
As the crowd cheered and applauded Gilgamein rased two of his four arms in the air clenching his fists tightly before letting out a beastly roar that would send chills in to even the bravest of Durogudu warriors.
"Is there non who can stand against my might!?" He bellowed soon after.
