Chapter 38

Emma's POV  *In STAR Labs*

"That was a lot more chalant then I expected," Dick said to me. Barry, Caitlin, and Cisco all furrowed their eyebrows at the unfamiliar word.

"That's Cisco. He's a bit over excited at the moment. When he's whelmed, he's more fun. Trust me," I responded to Dick.

"Did you just say 'whelmed'?"  Barry asked me. I nodded, confirming what I said. Before anyone could say anything, Cisco walked up to Dick and looked at him.

"You're a lot taller in person," he breathed. Dick looked from Cisco to me in amusement before he held his hand out to shake Cisco's.

"Nice to meet you Cisco," Dick smiled as Cisco excitedly shook his hand.

"Right back at you Dick-I mean sir-I mean Mr. Grayson," Cisco stuttered.

"Dick is fine. And you're Caitlin I presume?" Dick asked as he made his way over to her.

"Caitlin Snow, its a pleasure to meet you," Caitlin greeted. Cisco trailed behind Dick as he and Caitlin begun a conversation. I walked over to Barry and held my hand out to help him up, which he accepted. When he stood up, he didn't let go of my hand. He instead took it with both his hands before he spoke.

"Listen, I have to tell you about something. It's important," Barry spoke. I furrowed my eyebrows and nodded, slightly concerned with what Barry had to tell me.

"You can tell me anything Barry."

"Actually, can we talk about it later? When it's just you and me?" Barry asked. He let go of my hand and put his in his jean pockets.

"Of course," I agreed. "It's probably too hectic now anyway," I gestured towards Dick who was walking to me now.

"And you must be the infamous Barry Allen," Dick grinned. He put his arm around my shoulders and held his hand out for Barry to shake. "Emma never stops talking about you. Like, never," Dick emphasized the 'never'.

"All good things, I hope," Barry returned a smile as he shook Dick's hand.

"Please, Emma could never bad mouth you. It's not her in her blood," Dick teased. Barry looked at me with an 'Oh really?' expression which caused me to elbow Dick in the side and glare at him. Just then, Dr. Wells wheeled into the Cortex which caused all of us to turn to him.

"Dr. Wells, this is my friend--"

"Dick Grayson, yes I know. Bruce Wayne's adopted son and Gotham's second most eligible bachelor after Mr. Wayne himself, although I hear you're living in Blüdhaven now, correct?" Dr. Wells interrupted. Dick's composure immediately changed, he stood at his full height but still maintained his signature playboy smile. I could tell what he was doing, he was trying to pick Dr. Wells apart like he does to those around him when he goes on undercover missions.

"Dr. Wells. It's an honor to meet you. Bruce sends his condolences, he has been meaning to make a trip up here but he got a bit caught up with some family business," Dick explained. He held his hand out and Dr. Wells took it. They shook hands and I furrowed my eyebrows, confused as to why Dick began behaving so strangely once Wells arrived. Maybe he isn't here for a casual visit after all. Maybe Bruce sent him here after hearing about the Streak and the other meta-humans.

"Anyway, Dick is here about our meta-human business. He's a cop in Blüdhaven," I explained.

"Yeah, I came up here with Mikey a week ago to visit and I noticed Emma leaving for work and staying gone at unusual times for unusually long amounts of time. It doesn't take a genius to figure out she's working with the Streak," Dick continued. "So I figured, since I'm in town, I might as well make myself known as a potential resource."

"Listen Dick, being a cop from Blüdhaven and being Bruce Wayne's son doesn't mean you're equipped or experienced enough to give us tips about finding meta-humans," Cisco responded smugly. "Leave finding them to the big boys." I rolled my eyes and face palmed as Barry slowly connected the dots.

"Wait, you live in Blüdhaven now," Barry said furrowed his eyebrows

"Yup," Dick nodded, looking at him.

"And you stayed in Gotham the whole time Emma was there?" Barry asked.

"That's right," Dick said, flashing a smile.
Then Barry's eyes widened as he finally realized who Dick actually was.

"That means you're--"

"Nightwing, yeah," Dick confirmed nodding.

"YOU'RE NIGHTWING?!" Cisco screamed.

"Cisco, tone it down a bit," I pleaded. Cisco nodded but still had his eyes wide.

"This is the coolest thing in the world. You're Nightwing. You know Batman...wait. If you're Nightwing...and your adoptive father is Bruce Wayne...is Bruce Wayne Batman?!?!" Cisco connected the dots and I looked at Dick in a slight panic. The others couldn't tell it was panic because I was trained by Bruce to not let my facial expressions convey what I was actually feeling. Dick, on the other hand, could tell I was panicking and decided to take control of the situation.

"Please. Bruce Wayne? Batman? Don't make me laugh. I know he has all those muscles and stuff but trust me, they're all for show. Don't tell anyone I told you that by the way. Bruce will have my head," Dick expertly lied.

"But how do you and Batman and Robin get all those gadgets?" Cisco asked.

"Bruce knows who Batman is. How else would I have been Robin from the age of 9 to 18 and Nightwing now? I didn't just sneak out every night. Not with Alfred there," Dick, once again, expertly covered. It seemed that Cisco, Caitlin, and Barry bought it this time but Barry was still giving me a knowing look.

"Speaking of Bruce, how's Damian? I miss that kid so much you have no idea," I told Dick. He was about to respond when Caitlin cut in this time.

"Wait, sorry to interrupt but, Dick came here to help Barry take down some metas?" Caitlin asked for confirmation.

"That's right. He's not gonna be living here though. He's just visiting for the next few weeks. Mikey graduated high school early so he has no school to return to. As long as Mikey is here, Dick is here too."

"This is so sweeeeet. Nightwing and the Streak team up. That's actually the coolest thing in the world. Here I was wanting the Arrow to team up with you," Cisco fanboyed.

"Hey don't write the Arrow off yet. It's still a possibility," I added. Cisco nodded agreeing with me.

"Also Cisco. It's not the Streak anymore. It's the Flash now," Barry corrected.

"You got Iris to change it?" I grinned. Barry nodded and I gave him a high five.

"Seeing as we're all whelmed here. I think it's best Emma, Barry, and I head back to Mikey. As much as he loves Iris, I think she's a little too busy to be babysitting," Dick explained. Dr. Wells had been oddly quiet throughout the whole conversation so when I turned to look at him, he was already looking at me. I smiled politely at him before I said my goodbyes to Caitlin and Cisco.

"We'll see you later guys," I spoke as Dick and Barry waved.

"Bye Dick! Please come back soon," Cisco fanboyed once more. "Oh yeah, bye Emma. Bye Barry," Cisco added in a less enthusiastic tone. I shook my head at him laughing as Caitlin waved and said goodbye to us. As we walked out, Dick spoke up.

"I like that Cisco guy. He reminds me of everything I wish for Damian to be," Dick joked. I elbowed him and shook my head.

"Shut up, Damian is perfect the way he is."

"Guys, I've been meaning to ask. Who's Damian?" Barry spoke up.
