Chapter 34: A bad English lesson.

Scarlet's POV:

It was the next day after we created The Harmonising Snowflakes band. Glacier was noting what to  say in the email to our music teacher. None of us took music for our GCSES but thought we would keep our Practice up. We all had singing lessons. I also did drumming. Elsa played guitar. Glacier played piano. Anna and Raven were both learning singing too! So a perfect band.

***

It was our lesson before morning break. Glacier was tapping away on her laptop doing work for our English teacher. I was doing the same. But I noticed Alaska and Elsa weren't. Midnight looked concerned.

"Get on with work, you three," said the teacher.

"I can't think, Miss!" Said Alaska. "My brain is so mushy."

I felt for Alaska. All her treatment must be effecting her brain. Elsa started writing on her laptop and so did Midnight. But Alaska didn't even open her laptop. I noticed tears of pain coming out of her eyes.

"Miss," I said putting my hand up.

The teacher nodded. "Yes, Scarlet?"

"Could Alaska be excused, Please?" I asked.

The teacher nodded and Alaska got up and walked out. I went back to my work and finished it. So did Glacier and Elsa.

"Thank you, Girls!" Said the teacher. "You may pack up early and go to break!"

We did so. I also packed Alaska's bag for her and put it on my shoulder. I was about to walk out with the other three when the teacher stopped me in my tracks.

"Is Alaska okay, Scarlett?" She asked in concern. "It isn't getting worse? Mr Black informed all of us staff to keep an eye on her."

I nodded. "I think it is getting worse."

"We all can tell." Said the kind teacher. "Her work is not quite there. It's not her fault."

I nodded. "Okay," I said.

"Go now," said the teacher. "See you tomorrow afternoon."

I nodded and walked out.

The others were at our usual place. Glacier was comforting her twin who looked like she was crying. Elsa was sat, her head down. Anna and Raven were also there. Both girls were either side of Elsa.

"What's wrong?" I asked as I approached them.

"Alaska feels like she's failing everything," said Elsa.

"But I am!" Sobbed Alaska. "I can't even do a practice paper."

"Oh, Wolfie," said Glacier. "You aren't. It's okay to have days like this!"

"But I feel dumb!" Sobbed Alaska.

"For god sake," sighed Elsa. "You aren't that, Alaska!"

"Elsa's right," I said. "You aren't dumb, Alaska!"

But Alaska didn't respond. Even as the bell rang out for our lesson before lunch. Elsa and Glacier both walked up to the steps. I hang back with Alaska, hugging her. She was shaking badly.

"Do you want a snack?" I asked. "I'm sure MRS Iceland will be okay with that!"

Alaska nodded and we went into the dining room.

***

After school, I was in my and Alaska's room with Shelby. The husky was lying at my feet as I got on with work. Alaska was asleep on her bed, curled up in her dog form. I guessed it was more comfortable being her dog. She made little cute noises as she slept.

"Hey, Shelby girl!" I said quietly as the dog woke up and sat up.

Shelby whimpered quietly. It was like she was asking me if I was okay. I petted her snout.

"I'm okay, girl!" I told my pooch.

Shelby nuzzled into me and sighed. I didn't mind. It felt comforting.
