Scarlet's POV:

Glacier and Alaska stuck by each other during that day. I followed the Baker Twins making sure both were okay! Alaska out of the two looked very ghostly pale. Like she received bad news! Should I pull her aside and ask?

"What do we have today?" Asked Midnight.

"Er ... Maths?" Said Glacier.

Alaska shrugged. I nodded.

"Yeah," I said.

Glacier nodded and got her maths folder out. Then her English out, too!

"Wolfie?" I whispered at Alaska. "Come with me for a moment!"

Alaska nodded and walked out the room with me.

Once outside the school, I turned to Alaska. I noticed that she looked even more pale under the sunlight.

"Is there something wrong?" she asked me.

"No, no," I said. "Just worried about you. You aren't yourself."

"I'm fine, Scar!" Said Alaska, sounding like she was about to cry.

"Wolfie," I said gently. "There is something wrong. I can tell!"

Alaska did something that made me put my arms round her. She broke down. I rubbed her back as she sobbed.

"What's going on, Wolfie?" I whispered gently.

"I ... I ... I have cancer, Scar!" Sobbed my friend. "Grade four in my lungs and grade two in my brain."

I gasped. "Oh, Wolfie! I''m so sorry."

"I don't want to die!" Sobbed my friend. "I don't want to leave Glacie after all these years."

I didn't know what to say. I just held her close as she sobbed.

"We found out before I came back this morning," sobbed Alaska. "My dad begged them to start treatment straight away. I can't tell Glacier. It would break her."

"Your secret is safe with me, Wolfie!" I said hugging her. "Promise."

Alaska burried her face into me and sniffled. I held the younger twin close.

At lunch, Raven and Anna joined me and Glacier at the table. Alaska had to go in to the hospital for her first round of treatment. I sighed.

"Hi, girls!" I said. "How was your morning?"

"It  was okay, I guess," said Raven.

"Just a bit worrying," said Anna. "Like yesterday's events keep playing in my head, Glacie and Scar."

"We understand," I said.

Glacier nodded. But she didn't say much. Must be worried about Elsa! I put my arm round my best friend.

"Come on, Glace!" I said. "Eat something."

Glacier picked up her ham sandwich and nibbled it. But I could tell she didn't want it.

"Are you okay, Glace?" Anna asked, noticing the nibbling. "Don't you want your sandwich?"

Glacier didn't answer. I could tell she wanted to get out.

"Glace?" I said gently. "Do you want a walk?"

Glacier nodded. I shrugged to Raven.

"Sorry, you two!" I said. "Help yourself to Glacier's lunch."

They nodded and I passed them her plate. Then I put the empty tray under mine.

"Hang on, Glace!" I said patting her gently on the shoulder. "I'll be two seconds."

Glacier nodded. But didn't speak. It was as if something was going through her mind and she didn't want to talk! Poor Glacier!
