Chapter 36. Feeling better.
Glacier's POV:
It felt good to laugh again. For ages, I was holding all of my stress in. But now I was with the one I love, I felt safe. Miss Vicles was a bitch. And a very big bitch.
"Apart from that," said Elsa. "Did anything else wind you up today?"
I sighed. "Well, I got a lot of work done in the library. The teachers were fine with me missing Maths, Art and Geography. They kind of guessed something was up."
"How so?" Elsa held me to her right side.
I guessed because of her broken ribs. "Let's just say the drama started last night in Sparkle," I admitted. "Scarlet was trying to stick up for me. But Midnight and Biscuit ganged up on me, taking the micki about how much I miss you. They said horrible cutting things. I tried so hard not to go back to that approach. But I needed to relieve myself of that."
"So you think biting yourself is the answer?" Elsa asked gently kissing my bad arm. "They look so deep, too."
"I'm sorry," I choked. "I didn't want to do it."
"Glacier," said Elsa for the second time that day. "Listen. I'm not angry. If that's the way you cope, then it's the way you cope. You can't help with them things."
Beeping came from the machines. Did I set them off?
"What's going on now, Miss Harrison?" Asked the nurse.
"Just Glacier being upset."
"Your heart rate is high, honey," said the nurse. "And your pulse, too!"
"Isn't that the same thing?" I asked innocently.
"You must be Glacier," said the nurse.
I nodded. "Thanks for looking after her."
"Your welcome," said the nurse. "We have a dog on the ward."
"Do you?" I asked.
"Yeah," said Elsa. "They bring her to me sometimes. I told them you love dogs because of Alaska."
"Wolfie," I said.
"Whatever." Giggled Elsa.
"Aww," I said. "Can I meet her?"
"Of course," said the nurse. "Once I've sorted your girlfriend out."
I blushed. I guessed Elsa did the same because her heart machine went crazy.
"What's the dog called?" I asked interested.
"She doesn't really have one." The Nurse was doing something with the machines. "But Elsa has been calling her Button."
"Why?" I asked.
"She hit my bed accidently one day, sending it crazy," said Elsa. "I think she hit a button on it to make it work. So Button is her name to me."
"What breed is she?" I asked.
"A little baby Husky," said the nurse. "I think she's crossed with a Labradore, we think. So she's a cross."
"Aww," I said. "She sounds so cute!"
"She is," said Elsa. "So fluffy."
There was pattering of paws.
"Talk of the fluffball," said the nurse. "Here she is."
Barking was heard and scratching at the door.
"Hang on, girl," said the Nurse.
Elsa smiled. "Was she a stray?"
"Yes," said the nurse. "The doctor found her in the carpark scrounging for food in the bins. I reckon the owner didn't want her and left her here. The other dog we had went to the adult hospital."
"Hello, Button," came dad's voice. "Want to come in?"
"Mc Donalds," said Elsa excitedly.
The smell of the Mc Donalds hit my nose. I couldn't help but feel hungry now.
"Again?" Asked the nurse with a smile at Elsa. "Well, enjoy. How long do you want Button in with you guys?"
"I have to go back at seven," I said. "Not sure what time it is at the moment."
"You have two hours," said Elsa.
"That long?" I asked.
"Okay," said the nurse.
Dad opened the door, holding Button in his arms. Along with Elsa's meal. He came over, placing the dinner on Elsa's table. Then he turned to us.
"I think this dog would like some chicken," he laughed. "Bless her."
"If I don't eat much," said Elsa. "She can have one."
Dad laughed. Then he gently grabbed my hand. "Do you want to stroke Button, Glacier?"
I nodded. Dad smiled and put my hand in front of the nose. Button instantly liked me and nuzzled at my hand. She was an adorable thing. She jumped into my lap, snuggling down. Elsa and Dad laughed. So did the nurse.
"I'll leave you to it." She said.
Then she walked out the room. Button nuzzled me.

A/N:
Aww. Button! She's a husky crossed with a golden lab. So she's a sort of mungrle. I wished I had my dog.
