1: In The World Of Quirks
My name is Midoriya Izuku. "Midoriya" is actually my mom's family name. My parents aren't together anymore, so I switch between households every week. They are on friendly terms, so that situation isn't all that bad.
We live in a superhuman society, where about 80% of the population has what everyone refers to as a 'quirk'. My mom's quirk is really simple - she can pull small objects towards herself. She's a fourth-generation quirk user, meaning her family was fully quirkless five generations ago, and in her genes she has the recessive 'quirkless' trait.
My dads on the other hand is not so simple. He holds no quirkless gene, and his quirk is legally listed as "Fire-breath," but that's really not it. His true quirk is the ability to take quirks from those who have then and give them to others. In his stockpile of quirks I think he has one that freezes his body from aging.
I inherited a mixed version of the two powers: the ability to receive as many quirks as possible. It's called Quirk Storage. Of course, this isn't powerful on its own, but at least I wasn't part of the 20% of the population born quirkless. I was lucky through my birth, though my having a quirk was basically guaranteed.
With these superpowers running rampant, a new occupation had occurred as quirk-related crime got out of hand. It started with just a few people wanting to do good as the government re-wrote laws to account for quirks, and eventually became another service like police...but not quite.
Heroes.
Being a hero could be seen as not-quite-police work. The main difference is that heroes are allowed to use their quirks to restrain a villain, while police can't. No matter what, being a hero is a noble and highly popular occupation.
And me? I had a little bit of potential and a powerful dream and a passion to guide me. I was going to save people. I was going to help people. I would become a hero, like my idol was; I would be like All Might, the number one hero!
I would be a hero.
