Part Machine - Circuit Board

"Taylor! We meet again." I mentally groan at the voice. I put on my best fake smile and look up at Sideswipe.

"We do."

"I didn't think I would see you again so soon. Must be my lucky day." He skates next to me as I continue to walk. I roll my eyes at his flirt.

"What are you doing on this side of the valley?"

"I work here now."

"Oh, you do? So, I'll get to see your pretty face every day." I heave a sigh, not excited for what might be in store for me.

"Sideswipe!"

Oh, thank god. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to listen to him.

"Get over here."

"Coming. See you around pretty lady." He says before skating off to the other end.

Lucky for me, I see the med bay in sight and pick up my pace.

"Good morning, Sir." I greet as I walk in.

"No need for such formalities, just call me Ratchet." The old medic grunts at me.

"Good to go, Ratchet. Where do you want me?" I take in my surroundings, walking in slowly.

"I have a clear schedule today. I want to get to know you and your history. What they did to you and anything that could help me to help you get control of your programming."

A frown immediately sets on my face. There is a lot I don't want to talk about. This is not going to be a good day.

"Well get over here?" He snaps.

I pick up my feet and run over to him. He picks me up and sets me on the large table he is working on. I take a seat, leaning against a pile of data pads he has sitting on the table. We stare at each other for a moment. I have a feeling he is trying to scan me.

"So, I think you realize I'm scanning you. I can see the metal in your body. It takes up half your brain. It is odd to see a human with two fake eyes that look so real. The intricate wiring inside the eyes is astounding. Humans made these? You have a circuit board for a brain. How did they get it to work with the other parts of your brain? Do you feel pain like others do?" He pauses for a moment while I'm thinking of an answer.

"Well I can tell ya it was very hard to get used too at first. I had years of training to get my eyes to work correctly. Every little wire and circuit are connected to the sections of brain they were able to save. They tried to save as much as possible, but a lot of the damage was to severe. Only a quarter of the cerebral hemisphere survived, I still have my cerebellum and hypothalamus, as well as my brain stem. My frontal lobe and parts of my parietal lobe didn't make it. My Temporal lobe had some damage they were able to attach it to the circuit board and make it work again. My occipital lobe is still intact. I had to relearn almost everything. Every decision I make runs through the programming and then runs down my brain stem to make me act. Even being able to talk is run through it. When I first started talking again, I sounded like a robot and my voice was monotone. All my movements were blocky and robotic. It took me awhile to become more human. I am still human, just a messed-up brain." I feel the need to clarify that I am still a human. I still have flesh and bones. I still think like one. Just my judgments are more calculated and justified.

"How do you read a machine?"

"Well at first it took me while to turn it off. Like the problem I'm having with you guys now. When I was in the hospital room recovering, I could see all the insides of any machine in the room. It scared me actually. I was terrified I would never get it to stop. It just took practice to route the circuits to turn it off. To get my brain to work with the program. The doctors did it all remotely at first, to help me recover. It wasn't long that I was knowing everything about the inside of an engine. I could take it all apart and put it back together in a few hours. Something that takes at least two mechanics to do in a day. I can fix a computer in a matter of minutes. I learned how to do that before I learned how to walk again. As things upgrade and new schematics come out, I'm supposed to go get the system upgraded as well. But the programing seems to learn by itself. After the second upgrade, they were already noticing it picking up new files just after me reading about things. I'm sure I can do the same thing with you guys."

Ratchet looks astonished, amazed. I'm not even sure I've ever seen this bot with this kind of emotion before. I try to read more, but my programming gets in the way. I can't see past the errors it's bringing up. I know for a fact, Ratchet wouldn't have anything wrong with him. He is a medic after all. The most I would think would be having to low of levels. Which I hope he wouldn't let himself get that low.

"Do you have to recharge a certain way?" He gives me a curious look.

"No, I just sleep normally. I only need about four hours of sleep, but I can sleep longer if I'm not interrupted. I can also set a length of time I'd like to sleep. I have it set for eight hours at the moment." I explain.

I hear him mutter something to himself, but I don't understand him. He turns away for a moment, grabbing some large pads off the shelves next to his desk.

"These are data pads all on cybertronian anatomy, I know these are too big for you to hold yourself, so I'm going to have Jolt transfer then to something more your size."

"Sounds good. I'm sure I can have those read within a few hours."
