Tankery's End Behind the Scenes
Tankery's End behind the scenes
The camera screen opens with an opening showing 'Tankery's End Behind the Scenes' and continuously cuts to each different actor being interviewed.
Miho Nishizumi
"When Mr. Discord came to us pitching the idea of a small trilogy we never expected this. We originally believed that he wanted to do another story about Ooarai and the Sensha do Federation being at odds with each other, but we never thought this would be it."
Maho Nishizumi
"The Americans were a lot of fun to work with, I personally haven't had the pleasure of working with another foreign actor before, so this was a wonderful experience for me."
Edward Hill
"I had worked with Hans and Davis on other films before but with the wide collection of people here, I got to tell you this project was on a whole other level."
Davis Brown
"A trilogy of films, hundreds of old tanks, thousands of extras, Mr. Discord is one ambitious man but hey the man got it done, he's got means man.
Question: What was the most interesting part of filming?
Kay
"I'd definitely have to say the Americans. I know my character is all American stereotype and all but actually having Americans on set was the most interesting part.
Darjeeling
"I know that when Japanese media puts an American in a show it tends to be a character that's very loud, obnoxious, and stereotypical but actually working with Americans kind of confirmed the characters in those shows.
Austin Mayes and Nonna
"I fell down a mountain without a harness. That's the most interesting thing that happened to me. Mr. Discord said that I would be hooked up and everything but as soon as the camera was rolling I felt the harness loosen and I went ballistic." Austin said.
"The scene with Austin and I falling down the mountain was us actually falling down the mountain. Our faces of fear were genuine." Nonna said.
The Mountain scene from Chapter Seven
The camera focuses on the crew and actors preparing for the scene of Austin and Nonna falling down the mountain during the skirmish between Pravda and Uncle Sam
"Austin what are you doing today?" The camera guy asked getting the camera in Austin face.
"Um, I am falling down a mountain today, hence the harness and all that crap." Austin said decked out in safety gear. Nonna a little bit away was also wearing such gear.
"How's it work?" asked the camera man.
"Well I am going to be hooked to a crane by about seven wires, Nonna is going to be hooked to my harness and we're going to be holding each other to make it look as natural as possible." Austin said.
The scene then changes to having Austin hooked to the crane and laying on the snow slope with Nonna hooked to him resting on him. With Director Discord on his seat some yards away.
"Alright ready on the crane, ready on the talent, ready on the lights, and Action!" Discord said.
The crane immediately detached the hook letting Austin and Nonna go. Instantly the two knew what was going on and both let out a very real and genuine scream of terror.
Discord
"I wanted some realism and that was one of the reasons we actually shot that scene on a real mountain side. It was good."
Austin and Nonna
"I wanted to throttle him for that" Nonna said with that icy stare she has.
"She'd do it to." Austin said.
Question: What was the funniest part of filming?
Akari
"Defiantly after the first battle outside Hoja City when the two Karl's get knocked out both Austin and Mark came out to yell some banter and Mark flashed us."
Discord
"Mark flashing his butt was not scripted. I don't know why he did that but he did and no body could resist the urge to laugh."
Austin and Nonna
"My laughter in that scene was genuine to. I couldn't stop myself from laughing at that I had no idea Mark was going to do that." Austin said with Nonna giggling.
Mark
"I don't know, Mr. Discord said to throw the banter out and then do some stupid joke, so I pulled my pants down. I don't know I think I was drunk that day."
Akari
"It defiantly was the most memorable moment of filming."
Question: What was your take on the romance of the movie?
Maho
"I guess I thought, oh is this some form of personally achievement for getting characters together like this. Turns out it wasn't that bad." Maho said giggling.
Edward
"I felt so uncomfortable in half those situations. It was touchier then I was used to so I kept apologizing over and over again for having to touch her so much."
Austin and Nonna
"I liked it!" Austin said bluntly.
"Of course you did, you got together with the most endowed girl after all." Nonna said. Austin laughed before rebutting.
"No, I liked it because it was a first for me In that kind of scenario. Normally I do heavy action and war films that don't have much of that, and I am normally a secondary character in those films. It was a nice change of pace. Plus I got together with the most well-endowed girl." Austin said laughing as Nonna groaned.
Rivers
"I felt super embarrassed. That's all I got to say.
Question: what is your take on the characters being more focused on?
Miho
"Honestly, I enjoyed not being in the spotlight this time. it gave the series as a whole a new perspective and gave me a break from having to memorize so many lines.
Maho
"I didn't mind it. I thought being the main focal point for story, at least in part, was fun. Plus I got to learn a lot about Edward. He's a really great guy."
Edward
"I've been the main character before, but this time it felt like I had a partner that kept up with me when things went sideways. It was a lot of fun."
Question: Your thoughts on the Villain?
Akari
"I love playing the bad guy. And apparently I'm super good at it to. I'm told my character isn't well liked." Akari said chuckling.
Miho
"Ms. Akari played a really good villain. Her demeanor with how she addressed the American actors when filming was very believable."
Rivers
"We used a small joy buzzer like taser for the scene I get tased and after Akari jabbed me with the taser and the scene ended she knelt down besides me asking if I was alright. Akari's actually a very kind woman compared to her character in the film.
Austin and Nonna
"Uh, I got whipped." Austin said. Nonna sighed and rebuttled.
"It was makeup and a fake whip, you didn't get hurt at all." Nonna said.
"It's the principle of the matter." Austin said.
The camera cuts to the time the makeup artist was applying the scars to Austin's back with Austin smiling at the camera.
Discord
"Akari's Character was actually not supposed to be so evil in a sense. By the time the second film ended I realized I had to fit some proper reasoning for Akari's extreme acts as the villain and it was kind of rushed so we could get to production as fast as possible, but it worked out."
Question: what are your thoughts on the sequel?
Austin and Nonna
"There's going to be a sequel?" Austin asked Nonna.
"Yes, you and I are the main characters." She explained.
"Really!?" Austin said surprised.
Mark
"Cant wait. It was a blast working with Austin again. He and I would usually work on the same films back home, so I can't wait."
Discord
"We start production in November of 2021. But I already foresee some circumstances for I hope people can understand if there are some delays. But we will get this project done, mark my words for it."
