Chapter#2 - Apologize!

'Hello class, I am your new teacher, Mr. Thompson. I will be teaching you Maths. So take out your books and open to page number 73.'
The whole class groaned, some continued to talk and some took out their books including me. 'Class.' Mr. Thompson continued, 'You have been told to take out your books so quit talking and do as you have been told.'
Mr. Thompson seemed not to understand that the class was not so obedient. He looked like he was in his mid thirties and was a burly man.
'Sir, it's the first day, won't you like to first have us introduce ourselves? It's your first day after all.' I looked at Ryder who was smiling at Mr. Thompson and was obviously the person who had just given this waste of time idea. Anyways, it could be fun.
Mr. Thompson nodded totally giving in and we started introducing ourselves. Gabe took extra long doing so. He went on about his interests, what he wanted to become when he grew up and what he was going to wear on this party on Saturday. The class roared in laughter, okay I'll admit, I laughed a bit too.
Mr. Thompson told him to sit down and after a bit more blabbering he did so. When Ryder's turn came, I thought he would do the same but instead he just said a simple, 'My name is Ryder Smith and I love Maths. I am looking forward to be taught by you sir. You seem like a nice teacher.'
Mr. Thompson now seemed like someone who loved being praised.
I just said my name and so did Stacie.
After all the introductions, there were only ten minutes left till the end of class so Mr. Thompson said we could be free. In this time me and Stacie talked about the coming elections for student body president and who should be it. I was looking forward to give my name in the nominations. I had a good social circle so I had lots of chances to win.
We had two separate student body presidents, a boy and a girl. So I was surely looking forward to stand from the girls side.
We talked for the remaining time and also compared our time tables, with Ryder poking his nose again and again of course. After class ended we stood up and I left for my second class which was English. My favourite! I have always had an interest in creative writing and English. And Mrs. Garcia as the teacher made it so much more interesting. She was an old woman with a wise and humorous personality, everyone's favourite I must say.
While I was walking down the corridor, to my English class, I caught sight of Dawn. And she was quite a sight right now!
I rushed towards her, 'Dawn, what happened to you?'
'Me?' she asked, 'Bad dream, very bad dream. I couldn't sleep all night!' She wasn't crying, but her eyes were red and puffy, her hair were tangled and messy, and over all she looked like a mess. 'But why your hair?' I continued, 'Couldn't you do any makeup?'
'You know I hate makeup, and I slept in and was late because last night I was up till 6. So I had no time left to do anything except of changing, and brushing my teeth'
'Lets get you fixed.'
I took her to the washroom, and took out my makeup kit. I wasn't really a heavy makeup applier too but a little mascara and lip gloss wouldn't do any harm, and I still carried some essentials with me anyways.
'Ew Ew Ew makeup! No!'
'Stop overreacting Dawn, it's just makeup,' I rolled my eyes, 'You should've stayed home, you look sick.'
'My mom would be worried.' was her simple reply.
We heard the bell and she said, 'You will be late to class Cheryl, you should go.'
'I am a goody two shoes Dawn, but that doesn't mean I am a bad friend. I need to fix you first. And Miss Garcia will understand.'
'You have English? Same.'
We smiled at eachother, I nodded in satisfaction as I had succeeded in hiding her eye bags and we decided to talk about the dream in break.
Dawn always had a bad dream problem, but it was rare that she looked so messy, she was a person who cares about her appearance, but her anti-makeup behaviour made it impossible sometimes.

'Dawn Woods. Cheryl Jones. Why are you girls late?' asked Mrs. Garcia.
I went towards her and made my magic. Being a teacher's pet had its benefits. That included the ease for me to convince the teachers. Also, it made me the first person to come to whenever any of my friends or even people I rarely talk to were in a problem.
We sat in the class next to each other near Samantha who was also in the class. Samantha shot us her famous bright smile and we waved back. Yes, she was one of the walkie talkies, one of the nerds of our group, besides me and Stacie. She fixed her glasses, we took out our notebooks and started drafting the essay given to us.
'Cheryl, what are you writing?' a voice came from behind me.
'Ummmm Aaron?' I didn't even notice him till now, 'Hi.'
'Yeah, me, now tell me what you're writing, I don't get anything in this essay. Like what kind of a topic is 'My Summer Vacations'? Are we in elementary school or something?'
'Its a childish topic, yet you still can't come up with something, eh? And Mrs. Garcia says the topic doesn't matter, what matters is the standard of writing,' I explained.
'Okay, Ms. Jane Austen. Now tell me what you're writing?'
'I'm writing about my summer vacations and you write about yours. Where did you go? Had any fun? Something special?'
'You're no help, nerd.'
'Wow, that's great, because i wasn't planning to help. And by the way are you my friend or a bully? You just called me nerd!'
'Okay okay whatever. I am not a bully, please. I was just teasing,' he said and smirked.
'Stop smirking, Miller!'
'Stop whining, Jones.'
'You need to shut up!'
'You need to help me!'
'Aaron, Cheryl, is there something you'd like to share with the class?' came the voice of Mrs. Garcia.
'Ummm no Mrs. Garcia, we're sorry.' we said and Mrs. Garcia continued her work. Aaron smirked again and I just rolled my eyes. Hey, Aaron is very supportive and kind, it's just that he can be a pain sometimes and can't stop talking and always likes teasing people, oh and that smirk.

**********
After English, Chemistry, and Social Studies, it was finally break. I could meet my friends and tell them how amazingly boring my vacations went. Although I had already met Bella, Stacie, Alice, Dawn, Samantha, Anna and Delancy but there was a whole lot still left. Yes we had a gigantic group.
As I entered the canteen I saw Grace. 'Grace!' I yelled and went over to her, 'Hi!'
'Hey Cheryl! How did the vacations go?' she asked.
'Boring and full of books and arts.'
'Really? I wrote a whole lot of poetry sitting at my house. And we went to see my grandma in the countryside too.'
'That's great, when can I read your poetry then?'
'I'll bring my diary tomorrow.'
Grace Lively. Just like her name, she was graceful and lively. No, she's not related to Blake Lively. She always found the happiness in the little things and the little good in the bad people. Also, she was single, and wanted to be a cat lady just like me. Poetry and drawing were so her talent. She remained a poker face all the time, but when talked to she was like one of the cheeriest person ever met despite of the financial crisis her family faced.
'Grace, no lunch?' I asked.
'No, I'm not hungry,' she said, her face falling. Just then I heard her stomach grumble. 'Right,' I said narrowing my eyes at her. She smiled sheepishly, 'Let me guess, you didn't have your breakfast?'
'Yes.'
'You wait here for the others, and I bring us lunch.'
'Cheryl you don't have...' before she could complete her sentence I said, 'Shut up, I didn't ask, I told you that.'
She smiled, 'Love you.' I smiled back and said 'Same.'
I came back with the lunch seeing Samantha coming this way, walking fast, and her face made into a deep frown, great, she was angry. Samantha was a very hot headed person, and her anger was dangerous. She sat down with a thud and put her head on the table.
Grace and I stared at her, and Grace carefully placed a hand on her shoulder. 'Samipops? You okay?' she asked.
'Grace! Don't call me that,' she said without raising her head.
'Geez, okay. I won't but can we know what makes you so angry?'
I sat down beside Samantha and started eating keeping my eyes on her head. She suddenly put her head up and started speaking in a very loud voice. 'I am fed up with my parents. You know what happened, I just got a call from mother, she told me she and dad are leaving for California before I come home for a very urgent business deal! They won't be back before a month. When are they home anyways? Do you know what that means?' she stared at our faces and we shook our heads dumbfounded, 'That means they will miss my violin playing show again! Again! I am losing faith in me having a family!'
She put her head down again. 'I want to come to your violin show, I love those and you are talented!' I said trying to lighten the situation, I really would love to go though. 'Me too!' said Alice sitting down at her usual chair at our table, I guess she just arrived. Grace nodded in approval too.
She sat up and smiled at us, 'Thanks.'
'Don't mention.' We then noticed the whole breathing population of the canteen staring at us, Samantha noticed that too, 'What?!!' she asked again and all of them went back to their business. I chuckled, people were always scared of Samantha's anger as she was never the one backing out of a fight. They were in love with her smile just the same too. She started eating from my lunch. 'Alice! How are you?' Grace asked.
'I'm fine,' she replied, 'Dad has been contained nowadays, I am able to breathe without getting scared.'
Grace and I both sighed in relief and we started eating in a comfortable silence. Just then Bella came running towards the table with Anna and Ashley following behind. Bella was a freak but that didn't affect her popularity in any way. 'Guess who's performing at Zayn's party on Saturday?' she exclaimed pointing to her head. 'You are,' I said simply, 'You had to. Why are you friends with that jerk, Bella?' If Aaron's my best friend, Zayn is Bella's.
She sat down and so did Anna and Ashley. 'A hilarious jerk. He's funny Cheryl, and I don't seem to have a problem with that.'
'I don't have a problem with his humour, but isn't he too nosy and irritating sometimes?'
'Yes, ' she nodded, 'But not with me.'
We started eating and Anna and I discussed the upcoming movie, Ashley was also a bit too excited today. 'Ashley? Why are you smiling?' I asked.
'Me? No, I'm not smiling,' she said still smiling. I rolled my eyes.
'Yes you are, now tell me what's the secret, or I'll kidnap your boyfriend!'
'Okay okay, calm down woman! Sam just gave me a beautiful bracelet, ' she said showing her silver 'S+A' statement bracelet on her hand.
'No I didn't,' said Samantha not looking up.
'Sam Mathews, my boyfriend, Samantha.' We chuckled as Samantha said 'OH.' They always get confused with their names. Ashley even calls Samantha by mistake when she intends to do that to Sam.
'That's beautiful!' said Bella.
'I know right,' Ashley said, 'He's so romantic!' I rolled my eyes. I was never happy with this relationship, don't judge me, Sam was a player and I was protective of my friends. Ashley didn't notice that anyways. Soon Dawn, Kacie, Stacie, Delancy, and Felicity joined it too completing the group. Delancy knocked over Gabe's juice while coming back to her chair getting her lunch.
She said, 'Sorry,' and picked it up for him.
'Watch it, fatso!' he said rather harshly and then started laughing, high-fiving his friends.
Delancy ignored and sat back at her chair, but this combined with my hatred towards Gabe caused me to get up, 'She said sorry, Gabe. Now apologize to her!' I said.
Bella, and Delancy got up too, Bella came to stand beside me, 'Do it!' she said. Delancy pulled at my hand, 'It's okay Cheryl. Let him be, just ignore him,' she said.
'I cannot ignore him.' I said firmly, pulling my hand back to myself. Delancy sat back down knowing it was useless trying to quiet me.
'Do it, Gabe!' Bella said again.
'Apologize? My foot, you nerd! I won't apologize to a weird rotten potato!' his friends laughed again, I saw and Delancy was on the verge of crying. I had enough. So I did the right thing as always.
I punched him hard, right in the face. His friends got up, some steadied him from falling, and others just stared at me dumbfounded.
Samantha's anger was famous, and so was my punch. I rarely got angry but when I did, my punch was always my bestie.
Bella jumped and yelled, 'Yeah!' While people from all around the canteen took out their cameras, and some started yelling, 'Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!'
But I think this was enough, although I wasn't scared of punching him again, but I didn't want to create a drama. So I just took a look towards my friends, who were all looking at me with proud looks on their faces and went out of the canteen.
To my surprise though, Gabe didn't fight back either. Gabe had always been a big fat bully, especially towards Delancy. We all hated him. He always taunted and bullied Delancy and it was getting too bad now so we stopped staying quiet. Delancy was a typical bubbly and gossiper teenager but she never answered back to Gabe so we had to instead.
It's shocking how nobody complained on me for punching Gabe. I was sure a goody two shoes, but because of my punches, I had been in detention a few times.
The other classes went on normal and we got a very little homework.
I was not able to talk to Dawn about her nightmare today so I decided to call her at night.

**************
My mom picked me up from the hospital, Kacie came too. Her house was only two blocks away and her mom was busy so I agreed on dropping her.
After dropping her, we went to middle school, while singing along to Enrique Eglisias's 'Bailando', to get Harmony. Zabella was also in the car and she sang too. My mom loved Enrique Eglisias's music, she was concerned for us like all the other moms but she always loved to let loose and have fun with her daughters. Despite of her busy working routine, she still managed to work hard enough to give us all the time we required. My mom was really cool.
After picking up Harmony, she told about her day to us and I did the same.
I even told about the punch I presented to Gabe today, yes, I hide nothing from my mom. Harmony and I high fived and my mom just rolled her eyes and chuckled.
'Cheryl, sweety, it's good to stand up for your friend but you can do that without punching people and using your hands too.'
'Yeah mom, but he won't apologize. I'm sorry, I'll take care next time.'
'I trust you,' she said, 'I have a news for you all.'
'Yay! A news!' said Zabella. Harmony looked expectantly towards my mom and I told Zabella that a news wasn't a celebration.
'Continue mom,' I said getting impatient.
'You guys know that the there is an empty house in our neighborhood, right?'
'Yes, beside the house at our front,' said Harmony.
'Well, new people are moving there.'
'Are they like Mr. Zabini? I don't want another Mr. Zabini in our neighborhood.'
'We know them actually.'
'Do we? Who are they, mom?' I asked impatiently.
'Your aunt Diana is shifting here,' mom said suddenly. My eyes widened and I asked,'Is Jennifer coming too?'
'Of course she is, Cheryl don't be stupid. She is Aunt Diana's daughter you know,' she said sarcastically, 'I just hope everything goes good between their family and ours.'
Nothing can be good when Jennifer comes round. She is a menace for me and she's coming back.
'I don't like cousin Jennifer, mom's Zabella said suddenly.
I don't either, sweetie, I thought.
