3. VISITING

               ू ₒ ु  ───  » » » ↳ episode two

IT WAS FINALLY time to see Mike. Mike had promised to visit over spring break, which made them all happy. Unfortunately, not for Jonathan, he was happy at first because Nancy had been coming. But at the last minute, she decided not to. So, Jonathan wasn't happy and hasn't been ever since.

Melanie sat between Will and El, shaking her leg again. The three were waiting patiently, looking through the crowd. El stood up as soon she saw the raven-haired boy in the crowd.

"Mike!" El called out, getting his attention. Mike made eye contact with her as she waved at him. "Ah!" Eleven chuckled, happily, running to the Wheeler boy.

Melanie watched as they shared a kiss, she looked down. Will and Melanie stood up, the two stared at how Mike and El were so happy. Jonathan definitely noticed they were staring.

The four approached Mike and El. "Hey. How you doing?" Mike asked, patting Will on back. Melanie waited for at least a "hey" or a hug but received nothing. "Hey, Mike." Jonathan welcomed.

"Hey, How you doing?" the Wheeler boy raised a question. "Yeah, good, man." Mike smiled. "Great," his gaze shifted to the object in Will's hand. "Uh— what's that?"

The Byers boy shrugged, pretending like it was nothing. "Um, it's nothing. It's just this painting I've been working on," the Wheeler boy nodded. "Cool,"

Everyone stood there in awkwardness, Melanie still awaited a hug. "That's a rad shirt, man." Argyle complimented, startling the Wheeler boy. "Ocean Pacific?"

"Oh, hey, Mike," Mike's gaze switched to Jonathan. Melanie let out a sigh. "This is, uh, my friend Argyle," Jonathan introduced.

"Oh. Hey," Mike held out a hand for him to shake, instead of Argyle shaking it, he pulled the raven-haired boy into what seemed like a hug.

"Oh no, no, no." Argyle pulled away. "No, it's a shitty knockoff. Yeah. But don't sweat it. I'll get you the good threads out here," Mike kept changing his gaze.

"I heard a lot about your sister," the Wheeler boy looked at Jonathan with widened eyes. "Uh." Jonathan put his hands into his pockets, awkwardly.

They stood there in quiet before Jonathan cleared his throat. "O-Okay. Um, should we go?" the Byers boy asked. "Yeah, this is kinda awkward, man." Argyle acknowledged. "Yeah, so awkward."

Mike put his arm around El, walking together. Melanie watched as the couple was chatting. She stayed back for a moment, wondering why Mike didn't greet her. He hadn't seen her in forever, so why wouldn't he say "hi"?

                                    ✧──────✧

"I have our whole day planned," El said to her boyfriend. "First, El Rodeo for burritos," she told him, excitedly. Melanie turned to Will. "Did she talk to you about any of this?" Will shook his head.

Eleven smiled. "Then, after burritos, I want to go to Rink-O-Mania," Melanie put a strand of hair behind her ear. "Rink-O-Mania, okay." Mike repeated. "What's Rink-O-Mania?"

"It's the most fun place in Lenora," El overstated. "They have skating and games," the brown-haired girl clarified. "Okay, that sounds awesome. Are your friends gonna meet us there?"

Melanie and Will turned to each other quickly with a confused look on her face. "Friends? What.. What friends?" Melanie chuckled at his response. El hit Will on the chest with her flowers.

"You know, Stacy and Angela." Melanie widened her eyes. "Angela?" the Byers boy and girl questioned at the same time. "You'll meet them, I promise. Just not today. I want today to be about me and you."

Mike kissed Eleven's forehead. Melanie rolled her eyes in disgust. The six finally reached outside the airport. They all walked toward Argyle's van.

                                    ✧──────✧

The four teenagers got out of Argyle's van, arriving at Rink-O-Mania. Mike and El were further ahead, holding hands. As for, Melanie and Will they kept eyeing the couple in front of them.

The two heard a voice all out to them. "Hey, Will. Melanie," the two turned around. "We'll be back at 6:00," Jonathan informed them. Will nodded in response.

"Have fun, okay?" Will nodded once again. "We'll try if these two aren't sucking face," Melanie motioned toward the couple already inside.

Will chuckled a boy, turning around. The two walked inside, staring at everyone inside the rink. People were skating, eating, and doing all sorts of things. Melanie loved how colorful and bright the place was.

"Have fun," the lady said to four grabbing their skates. "Thanks," Eleven thanked, cheerfully. "Bitchin', right?" she looked at Mike.

"Yeah, bitchin'. Do you come here a lot?" the Wheeler boy asked. "Yeah," the Hopper girl responded at the same time her siblings replied with. "No," El turned to them.

"They do not, but I go to parties here," Eleven said, turning to her brother mid-sentence. She put her hand on his shoulder. "It's a big party place." Will rolled his eyes at her lies. Melanie groaned, silently.

They all sat down by the nearest bench, taking off their normal shoes to put on skates. "Oh, I forgot. You need socks," the Hopper girl set her skates down. "Oh, shit."

"They.. They sell them at the counter," Will signaled to the counter. "Oh, okay," the Wheeler boy stood up, leaving the Hopper girl and Byers siblings.

Will put down his skates. "How'd you forget about the socks?" he asked, getting Eleven's attention. "I mean, since you come here all the time."

Eleven began to stutter. "I.. I don't know. I just forgot." Melanie rolled her eyes. "Right." the Byers boy responded. Melanie looked at Eleven. "Why do you keep lying?"

"What?" Eleven questioned. "Why do you keep lying to Mike?" Will clarified. "I'm not lying," the for denied. "You're not?"

Melanie put on a skate. "You're friends with Angela and Stacy and you come to parties here?" she leaned over Will to look at the Hopper girl. "I have been to a party here,"

"For Mom's work," the Byers boy said, cutting her off at the end of the sentence. "That's not what you implied,"

Melanie set down the other skate instead of putting it on. "We just.. We don't think that Mike's gonna like that you're lying to him. And he doesn't deserve that. When he finds out, he's gonna get mad,"

Before anyone could get another word in, Mike came back and sat down, breaking the space between Will and El. "Okay, so, I asked for vomit green and I got vomit green," the Hopper girl chuckled.

"Isn't that awesome?" the Wheeler boy began taking his shoes off. Melanie sighed, taking her other skate to put it on.

                                    ✧──────✧

The four got onto the rink, fitting in with everyone else. Melanie and Will stayed back as the couple in front of them were having fun. Melanie put her hand on Will's shoulder.

"Hey, you okay," Will nodded at her. "I guess," he shrugged it off. "Let's try to have fun, we don't need to think about anything else right now," Melanie smiled at him, reassuringly.

Will grew a slight smile on his face. "Your right. Thanks, Mel." Melanie gave him a "you're welcome" look. "It's no problem, you're my brother."

The Byers boy's smile grew even bigger. "I bet, I could beat you in a race," she joked, skating further ahead. "Hey! That's not fair. You're cheating!"

Will attempted to catch up to her. "Melanie!" he called out but Melanie was already too far ahead enough to hear.

She was near Mike and El, who kept laughing and giggling. Melanie looked back to see her brother trying to catch up. Melanie wanted her and Will to have the best day ever, with or without El and Mike.

I can't stop writing for this book. I have
way more motivation on this instead of any
other, so that's fun!
