wonderwall

"Hey, Dad." Faith yelled as she and Kurt walked into the auto shop, letting her dad know they were there. She looked around the room and saw him working on a lifted car. Burt peaked his head out from under the car and smiled at his kids, walking out from under it.

"Hey, there they are!" Burt cheered, walking towards the small table by the car as his kids walked up to him.

"You forgot your breakfast." Faith said happily, handing her dad the bag. Burt looked inside the bag and frowned as Kurt smiled. "Suzanne Somers says that skipping breakfast is suicide." Kurt told the man but his words went in one ear and out the other. Burt lifted his head and looked between Faith and Kurt as if they were crazy.

"What is this?" Burt asked, looking down at the bag in disgust before looking back up at Faith and Kurt.

"It's an egg white wrap on a sprouted wheat tortilla, half a grapefruit and a green drink." Kurt said and Burt looked more disgusted with every word Kurt spoke. Burt groaned, rolling his eyes.

"Where's my usual breakfast?" He asked and Faith's eyebrows rose in amusement, a small smile painting her lips. "A Coke and two Slim Jims?" She asked and Burt nodded nonchalantly. "Yeah. Breakfast of champions." He said and Faith sighed, rolling her eyes.

"Dad, you are not a kid anymore. You have to start taking care of yourself." Faith groaned. Burt looked down at the bag of food before looked between his two kids, watching both of them look at him with pleading eyes and he sighed.

"Well, I guess with enough hot sauce, this will be all right. Thanks." Burt said as he put the the bag of breakfast on the table behind him. "Hey, don't forget, Friday night dinner is 6:00 instead of 7:00 this week. Carole and Finn are coming over, and she has to work the night shift." He added as he walked back to the car he was working on. Faith walked towards the table, reaching into the bag and grabbing the juice.

"Can I not sit next to Finn this time? He always scratches the plate when he cuts his food and I want to be as far away from that noise as possible." Faith said as she opened the bottle and took a sip. Burt laughed at Faith's words, looking back at her.

"Sure you can sit next to me. Kurt can sit next to Finn." Burt said and Kurt's eyes widened. "I... I can't do this Friday. It's Sing-along Sound of Music at the El Royale Theater. It's a once-a-year event." Kurt said quietly, worried how his dad would react to him missing another dinner. Burt shut his eyes and turned around from the car to face the teens. "And last week, you had to camp out early so you could be first in line for those Grey's Anatomy DVDs."

"Well, in his defense it was season 6..." Faith muttered with a shrug. Burt gave Faith a look that said "you're not helping" before he turned back to Kurt, shaking his head. "Those Friday night dinners are a ritual in our family... One your mom started." Burt said as Faith took another sip of her drink, looking back and forth between her dad and her brother while Kurt sighed.

"I know, but I'm a teenager. Friday nights are kind of important to me. Why are you making me feel guilty about this? You never get mad at Faith when she cancels!" Kurt yelled, pointing at his little sister beside him.

Faith's eyes widened at Kurt throwing her under the bus. She threw her hands in the air in defense, swallowed her drink and turned to Kurt. "Don't bring me into this." Faith said, shaking her head crazily.

"Faith gives me a few days heads up and usually she can work the things around to make it before or after dinner and we just have a couple extra guest. A couple weeks ago we had Tessa and Archie over." Burt said, pointing at Faith as he yelled at Kurt.

Faith pulled her lips into a line at her dad getting her friends names wrong. "Tina and Artie, Dad." She corrected and Burt turned to her, nodding his head. "Right." He muttered before turning back to Kurt but before he could reprimand him, Kurt spoke up.

"I, of all people, know how important the relationship is between you and Carole."

"Those dinners are more than important. They're sacred. Okay, the whole point of having something sacred is that it takes precedence over anything else you got going on." Burt said and Kurt pursed his lips. "Sing-along Sound of Music is sacred to me."

"We can tell." Faith muttered under her breath. Kurt whipped his head to Faith, pointing at her warningly. Faith snickered, raising her head again, making Kurt turn back to their dad.

Burt frowned at Kurt, shaking his head in disappointment. "You think I don't know that? Wasn't I the one who bought you that Maria bonnet when you were six? The point is, if you start giving up stuff like Friday night dinners, then you got nothing to hold onto." Burt snapped, making his two kids straighten up.

Burt looked back and forth between his two kids before sighing and looking down, not wanting to meet either of their eyes. "Okay, let's face it... If we don't schedule it, then we don't hang out. If we don't hang out, then our lives... They just go right by each other." Burt muttered before he pulled his lips into a line. He looked up at his kids, and shook his head. "And we don't share very much."

Faith frowned at her dad. She didn't know he felt that way about the family dinners. Faith actually really enjoyed them but she didn't know how important they were to her dad. Kurt kept his face emotionless in front of his dad, shrugging his shoulders as if Burt didn't share any of his feelings towards the family dinners.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not missing something that I look forward to all year just for another dinner." Kurt snapped and Faith's jaw fell slightly. Kurt shrugged, turning around to walk out of the shop. "Maybe we could do it Thursday or something."

Burt crossed his arms as he watched Kurt leave. "I got to tell you, Kurt. I'm real disappointed in you." Burt sighed out. Kurt's steps faltered at his dads words. He took a deep breath to pul himself together before walking out of the shop.

It was quiet between Faith and her dad as they watched Kurt leave. Once he was completely out of the building, Faith sighed, turning to her dad.

"I'm gonna go. Kurt's my ride." Faith said and Burt chuckled, waving his hand as if to tell Faith to go so she doesn't miss school. Faith smiled, walking towards her dad. She quickly kissed his cheek before turning around and speeding outside so Kurt wouldn't leave without her.

...

"Mr. Schue? I have something to say." Finn announced as soon as glee club started. Mr. Schue looked at Finn for a few seconds, not knowing what to say but before he even could say anything, Finn walked towards the front of the class, looking around at the students.

"Something happened to me, and I can't really get into it, but it's shaken me to my core." Finn said and Pucks eyes widened from beside Faith.

"Oh, my God, he's coming out." Puck yelled and Finn smiled, stuffing his hands in his front jeans pockets. "Why, yes, there is a man who's sort of recently come into my life..." He said and everyone's faces started to contort, confused since he was just holding hands and kissing Rachel.

"Holy shit! He is. Get the camera! Get the camera!" Puck panicked, not even giving Faith time to process anything before he grabbed her bag, ripped it open and searched for the camera. Just before he could turn on the camera, Finn smiled. "And that man is Jesus Christ."

Puck slumped. "That's way worse." He muttered as Faith ripped her bag and camera out of his hands, putting them under her seat.

Finn smiled as he looked around the room, nodding his head towards Quinn and Mercedes. "And I know there's others in here who dig him, too. And so I thought, maybe this week, we could pay tribute to him in music. You know, pay tribute to Jesus." Finn said, turning to Mr. Schue for approval.

Kurt let out an airy chuckle from behind Faith, shaking his head as Finn turned to him. "Sorry, uh, but if I wanted to sing about Jesus, I'd go to church. And the reason I don't go to church is because most churches don't think very much of gay people. Or women. Or science."

Mercedes' shook off Kurt's words, shrugging as she gave Finn an encouraging smile. "I don't see anything wrong with getting a little church up in here." She cheered and Quinn smiled to Mercedes, nodding her head. "I agree. I've had a really hard year, and I turned to God a lot for help. I, for one, wouldn't mind saying thanks."

Santana scoffed, holding back her eye roll as she craned her neck to look back at Quinn. "Thanks for what? That it didn't come out a lizard baby?" She snapped as Brittany shrugged.

"Whenever I pray, I fall asleep." Brittany muttered.

"Well, guys, maybe our song selections don't have to be about Jesus. We could do songs about spirituality." Mr. Schue said. Out of the corner of her eyes, Faith could see Puck roll his eyes. Finn saw it too and immediately glared at the boy, taking a few steps towards him.

"You got a problem with Jesus?" Finn yelled and Puck turned to him, casually pursing his lips as he shrugged. "Oh, I got no problem with the guy. I'm a total Jew for Jesus. What I don't like seeing is people using J-money to cramp everybody else's style, 'cause it seems to me that true spirituality or whatever you want to call it is about enjoying the life that you've been given. I mean, I see God every time I make out with a new chick."

Faith rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "Ew." She muttered. Puck turned to Faith, glaring at her as Quinn shook her head crazily. "Okay, okay, that doesn't make any sense. In fact, it's stupid." She said and Puck whipped his head to her, raising his brows.

"Are you calling Mr. Billy Joel stupid?" Puck questioned before he turned back to Mr. Schue and stood up, walking towards one of the guitars leaning on the wall. "At this time, I'd like to continue my streak of doing only songs by Jewish artists." He said before he turned to the band and nodded. "Hit it!"

...

Faith was sitting in her math class with Tina and Artie later in the day, they got a free day today so the three huddled up in their own little group to talk.

"How did Mr. Mitchell like your film from the summer?" Tina asked Faith, leaning towards her and shaking her in excitement, wanting to know what the film teacher said about her best friends work. Faith laughed, nodding her head.

"He really liked it. Said it's one of the best student films he's seen." Faith said and Tina screamed, causing some attention to get drawn to them but none of them cared. Artie smiled, popping his collar as he smirked at Faith.

"I think it's because I helped." Artie said and Faith turned to him with an amused smile. "Artie, you barely helped." Faith laughed out and Artie scoffed.

"Doesn't matter. Working with you has shown me the light of directing. And since I've now started to dabble in said arts of directing, I was hoping you'd take consideration into having me as your co-director in your next film." Artie said, holding his chin high as he made his proposition. Faith immediately shook her head, pursing her lips as she turned back to the table where she was shuffling cards to play. "No."

"Assistant director." Artie almost instantly snapped back. Faith stopped shuffling, thinking about it for a moment before she nodded. "Okay." She said, staring to pass out the cards between the three of them.

"And I also want 50% pay." Artie said and Faith dropped the cards on the desk, turning to Artie as if he were insane.

"50% pay? Artie, I'm getting no pay." Faith said and Artie smiled knowingly, nodding his head as he wheeled closer to her.

"Which is exactly why you should give me 50%. It's not like there's actually money waiting for us so you can give me any number you want but I still won't be getting paid in the end." Artie said. Faith squinted, trying to think if it was a good idea. Once she realized he had a point, Faith nodded, turning back to him.

"Alright. 50% pay. Is there anything else you want?" Faith asked, her last sentence meant to be sarcastic but Artie didn't catch on.

"I want to be mentioned as the greatest Assistant Director you've ever had when you win an Academy Award." Artie proposed. Faith immediately smiled, she already knew she was going to mention Artie and Tina considering how many times she's made them star in her movies growing up so she didn't mind having to change how she brings up Artie.

Faith smiled, holding out her arm for Artie to shake. "You have yourself a deal, Abrams." Faith said and Artie smiled, shaking her hand in return.

"Faith?" Mr. Schue called from the doorway. Faith turned around and saw Mr. Schue, Mrs. Pillsbury and Kurt standing at the door; the two teachers having glum expression while Kurt anxiously bit his nail.

"Why don't you come with us?" Mrs. Pillsbury asked, a small smile on her face as she nodded her head out of the classroom. Faith watched the two in confusing before she turned back to her friends and shrugged. She grabbed her backpack off the chair beside her and walked towards the door.

Once she was near the two teachers, Mr. Schue walked up to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "We need to talk to you and your brother." Mr. Schue said and Faith nodded.

Mrs. Pillsbury and Mr. Schue started to walk down the hall. Faith turned around to Kurt, her brows furrowed.

"Do you know what this is about?" Faith asked and Kurt shook his head, slowly starting to walk after the teachers.

"No clue. They wanted to wait till both of us were here." Kurt whispered. Faith started to fill up with worry. She didn't know why they were calling her and Kurt out of class but by the sad looks on their faces, she knew it wasn't good. Faith leaned over and grabbed Kurt's hand. Kurt immediately squeezed it, feeling the same worry she was.

...

Her dad was in the hospital.

That's all Faith heard Mrs. Pillsbury tell her before her ears started to ring. She could hardly think and she felt as if she were moving in slow motion. She could've sworn she heard the words "heart attack" but she didn't know if she was just hearing things or not.

They were in the waiting room of the hospital, Faith was sitting in between the two teachers while Kurt paced the room.

When they heard footsteps coming towards them, all four turned their heads and stood up at the sight of a doctor coming towards them.

"Where is he? Is he dead?" Kurt asked and Faith slowly grabbed his hand, waiting for the doctors answer.

The doctor shook his head at Kurt's question. "No, he's alive, but I'm sorry I don't have any other good news." He said and Ms. Pillsbury nodded, putting her hand on Faiths shoulder and rubbing it.

"I want to see him." Kurt said before he turned to Faith. "We want to see him." He said, turning back to the doctor. The doctor frowned, shaking his head. "He hasn't regained consciousness." He said, making Mr. Schue's brows furrow.

"I thought he had a heart attack." Mr. Schue said and the doctor nodded, turning to the teacher. "Brought on by an arrhythmia, which caused a lack of blood to his brain. That's what made him lose consciousness and what's keeping him comatose."

Comatose.

He was in a coma.

Faith took a deep breath as her hearing started to grow faint. She looked around the waiting room. All she could hear now was her own heartbeat. She gulped and suddenly felt a hand grab hers.

Faith looked down at saw Kurt holding her hand. The doctor was starting to walk away and Kurt was trying to get Faiths attention to have her follow.

When they walked into the hospital room, Faith's heart dropped at the set of her dad. Tubes and wires were all around him and four machines were by his bed.

Faith wasted no time walking to the chair right as his bedside. She grabbed his hand and squeezed it while Kurt towards slower steps towards him.

Kurt sniffled at the sight of his dad. "I need a minute." Kurt told Mr. Schue and Ms. Pillbury. Faith slowly looked up at Kurt before she turned back to her dad, squeezing his hand tighter

Mr. Schue opened and closed his mouth before he spoke. "I don't think you shoul—" "Please just give me a moment alone with my father." Kurt snapped, shutting Mr. Schue up. He looked to Ms. Pillbury before he turned back to the back of Kurt's head.

"We'll be right outside." Mr. Schue said and Kurt nodded. Faith look between Kurt and her two teachers before she slowly start to get up out of the chair. Kurt quickly stuck his hand out and placed it on Faith's shoulder.

"Stay." He muttered and Faith nodded, sitting back down in the chair. once they heard the door close, Kurt sniffled. He looked down and noticed Faith holding their dad's hand.

"Dad? If you can hear me, squeeze Faith's hand." He asked. Faith looked down at her hand holding her dads, looking to see if she could notice even the slightest movement.

"She's holding yours right now." Kurt said before a nervous laugh slipped through his lips. "Just squeeze back." He said. It was a few seconds and the siblings noticed no change in their dads grip.

...

Kurt and Faith got to glee club early. Or at least, Kurt got there early and he dragged Faith with him. Faith had been looking down at her shows since they sat down in the first row. She hadn't even spoken sick she's found out about her dad.

Hearing people walk into choir room, Faith lifted her head and watched as everyone besides Finn walked in. Most of the kids had already seen Kurt and Faith throughout the day and said their sorrys about Burt but Santana and Brittany walked up to the siblings, neither of them saying their sorrys yet.

"Hey, guys. We're really sorry about your dad's heart attack." Santana said as Tine passed them, running Faiths shoulder as she did so before taking the seat behind her.

Kurt gave Santana a smile, nodding his head in hopes it'd end the conversation. "Thanks, Santana."

Brittany extended her arms, holding out a portfolio for one of the siblings to take. "I did a book report on heart attacks, if you want to give it to the doctor." Brittany said. Faith looked back and forth between the project and Brittany before slowly grabbing the portfolio from her.

"I got knocked down an entire letter grade cause it was written in crayon." Brittany muttered disappointedly. Kurt opened his mouth to give the blonde fake reassurance was cut off by Finn stomping into the room, making a beeline to Faith and Kurt.

"What the hell happened?" Finn yelled and Kurt frowned at him and shrugged. "Our dad's in the hospital." He said and Finn through his arms out.

"I know. My mom just called me. I feel like I'm the last one to know!" Finn yelled at Kurt before he turned to Faith with a look of betrayal. "Why didn't you tell me?" Finn screamed and Faith.

Faith didn't flinch at the yell but her eyes shut tight when he did. Kurt immediately leaned towards Faith, sticking his arm out protectively in front of her as he glared at Finn. "Hey! Don't yell at her! He's not your father!"

"Yeah, well, he's the closest I'm ever going to get, okay?" Finn yelled back and Faith slowly lifted her head to Finn. She knew how he felt. She could already feel Carole becoming her mother figure. Finn sighed, looking between Faith and Kurt. "I know it may not look like what everybody else has, but I thought we were... sort of a family."

Faith turned her head opposite to the side Kurt was on and saw an empty chair about a foot away from her. She leaned over and grabbed the top of the chairs leg and moved it closer to hers. She looked up at Finn once the chair was closer to hers and gestured for him to sit down as Mr. Schue walked in. Finn gave her a small smile before he moved next to her, muttering a small apology for yelling at her as he did so.

"Hey, guys. Our thoughts are all with Faith and Kurt, and, uh, I know it's sort of hard to really focus on anything else–" "Mr. Schue?" Mercedes interrupted. The man turned to Mercedes, his brows raising. "Yeah?"

Faith turned around to Mercedes, watching her sigh and look down at her hands. "I've been struggling, trying to figure out what I wanted to say to Kurt and Faith all day, and I realized I don't want to say it, I want to sing it." She said and Mr. Schue smiled, walking towards an empty seat in the front row.

Mercedes smiled as she got out of her seat. She walked towards the center of the "stage" and smiled at her classmates. "This song is about being in a very dark place, and turning to God. It's a spiritual song." She said with a smile before turning to Mr. Schue. "Is that okay?"

Mr. Schue smiled, nodding his head. "It's fine." He said and Mercedes' smile widened. She bounced on her feet slightly before turning to Quinn and Tina in the back row. "Tina, Quinn, can you help me out, please?"

Once Quinn and Tina were standing with Mercedes, Mercedes turned to Brad the piano guy and nodded her head.

Faith watched in awe as Mercedes sang "I Look to You" with Quinn and Tina as back up singers. When they finished, Faith and Kurt gave Mercedes a small smile. "Thank you, Mercedes. Your voice is stunning." Kurt started and Mercedes smiled, happy about the compliment she earned. Kurt's smile fell and he instantly shook his head. "But... I don't believe in God."

Mercedes and Quinn's faces fell at Kurt's words. "Wait, what?" Mercedes asked and Kurt shrugged. "You've all professed your beliefs. I'm just stating mine. I think God is kind of like Santa Claus for adults. Otherwise, God's kind of a jerk, isn't he? I mean, he makes me gay and then has his followers going around telling me it's something that I chose. As if someone would choose to be mocked every single day of their life. And right now I don't want a heavenly father. I want my real one back."

Faith turned to Kurt, watching him for a few seconds before looking back down at her feet.

Tina frowned, tilting her head. "But Kurt, how do you know for sure? I mean, you can't prove that there's no God." She asked and Kurt rolled his eyes and snapped his head to Tina, only getting more aggravated. "You can't prove that there isn't a magic teapot floating around on the dark side of the moon with a dwarf inside of it that reads romance novels and shoots lightning out of its boobs, but it seems pretty unlikely, doesn't it?"

"Is God an evil dwarf?" Faith heard Brittany whispered from behind her. Quinn rolled her eyes at the topic, groaning. Faith turned around to the blonde and watched her shake her head. "We shouldn't be talking like this. It's not right." Quinn said and Kurt sighed.

"I'm sorry, Quinn. But you all can believe whatever you want to. But I can't believe something I don't. I appreciate your thoughts... But I don't want your prayers." Kurt snapped before shooting out of his chair and walking out of the room.

The class was silent for a minute before Quinn sighed, shaking her head. She turned to Faith and raised her brows even though she couldn't see her since Quinn was sitting behind her.

"What about you, Faith? Do you believe in God?" Quinn asked, making everyone turn to her. Faith's eyes widened as she turned her head to look around the room before turning back forward.

Santana's brows furrowed, looking around at the other people in the room to see if they noticed Faith's silence. "Okay, has anyone heard he speak today? Because I haven't."

"It's a coping mechanism." Tina blurted, wanting all the attention off Faith since she knew she wasn't liking it.

Finn's brows furrowed, needing Tina to elaborate. "What?"

Tina and Faith turned to each other at the exact same time. Tina silently asked Faith if it was okay for her to explain and when Faith nodded, Tina nodded back, turning to Finn.

"Faith doesn't talk when she's really emotional. It's not that she wants to not talk, it's like she physically can't. Unless she's talking to her dad, but... in this case, there's no one she'll talk to." Tina explained as Faith turned forward.

She didn't even have to turn around to feel everyone's eyes on her. She felt her heart racing at all the attention and before she knew, she was out of her chair, throwing her bag of her shoulder and speeding out of the room.

...

"It's really weird without you home."

Faith hadn't been at school since Tina told the glee club why she hadn't been talking. She wasn't embarrassed by it. She didn't go because school hours was her only chance to be alone with her dad since Carole would be at work and Kurt and Finn were at school. She'd normally just sit there and talk with him. Faith knew he couldn't answer her but she really hoped he could hear her

"Carole and Finn have been staying with us so me and Kurt weren't alone. I don't mind the company, Finn already knows that I wasn't talking much and Finn filled Carole and she understands and isn't trying to push me to speak."

Tears started to form in Faiths eyes, making her laugh. It was weird to have Carole around at the house. But it was a good weird. She wiped her eyes and sighed, turning down to her hands that were holding her dads.

"I think Kurt's been having a rough time getting used to them. It'll be a treat whenever you and Carole decide to move in together." Faith chuckled, eyeing her dad with a small smile as if he would laugh back at her or roll his eyes.

But he didn't.

He just laid there.

Faith tried her hardest to hold back her tears but she couldn't. She dropped her head, placing her forehead over her dads hands. She tried to calm down and slow her heartbeat. She started tapping her foot to a sound her dad would always sing her when she was little and upset.

Faiths heartbeat was practically beating out of her chest, making it hard to breathe for her so she started to muttered the song.

"Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you."

Her breathing was as the same.

Faith took a deep breath, trying to get enough air in her lungs to sing the next line. "And by now, you should've somehow realised what you gotta do."

The same.

Faith pressed her nose against her dads hands, shitting her eyes as if it would make her more concentrated.

"I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now"

The beeping of her dad monitor took over the small beat of silence surrounding Burt and Faith. She could feel the tears leave her eyes and she shook her head. "Please. Please. Please." She muttered, her voice quiet, cracking a bit more with every "please" she said.

"And backbeat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out. I'm sure you've heard it all before, but you never really had a doubt."

She could feel herself calming down.

"I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now."

Faith remembered the last time her dad sang her this song.

"And all the roads we have to walk are winding."

She had begged and begged him to take her to see the new "Halloween" movie and Burt kept telling her no because she'd get nightmares.

"And all the lights that lead us there are blinding."

She said she wouldn't get nightmares.

"There are many things that I would like to say to you, but I don't know how."

So he took her to the movies.

"Because maybe..."

And when she got home and went to bed, she was scared.

"You're gonna be the one that saves me."

So she called her dad into her room.

"And after all"

And he pulled up a chair next to her bed, held her hand and quietly sang this song until she fell asleep.

"You're my wonderwall."

Faith sniffled as she pressed her forehead against her dads hands. She finally caught her breath and sniffled.

"I'm am back with my coffee." A voice boomed as they walked into Burt's room with a Darth Vader impression. Faiths head shot up off her dads hands and her eyes widened when she realized it was Sam, a sling holding up one of his hands and a coffee in the other.

She quickly wiped the tears from her eyes as Sam froze, a small "o" shape taking over his mouth as he looked around the room. "This isn't my room." He muttered.

When he didn't get a response from Faith, he turned to her, watching as she shook her head and stared down at her lap. Sam looked back and forth between Faith and her dad before putting two and two together.

"I'll leave." Sam said and Faiths head shot up. Sam furrowed his brows, watching Faith closely. "Unless you want company?" He asked, tilting his head.

Faith gulped and shifted her eyes to the chair right across the bed from her. She looked back and forth between Sam's and the chair, hoping he'd get the hint. Sam did.

He nodded, he walked further into the room and grabbed the chair on the opposite side of the hospital from Faith. He lifted it off the floor and brought it over to next to her.

Once he sat down, Sam handed her his cup of a coffee. "Do you want some coffee?" He asked. Faith looked down at the small plastic cup. When she didn't answer, Sam chuckled. "I didn't drink any yet."

Faith slowly grabbed the coffee from Sam and took a sip. Sam smiled that he got her to take down a couple walls around her and he leaned back in his chair.

Faith turned to Sam, her eyes falling on his hand in the sling. Sam was watching her so when she raised her brows at the sling, he knew what she was talking about. Sam chuckled, raising his arm slightly.

"Oh, this thing?" He asked and Faith nodded. Sam sighed, carefully dropping his arm back on his leg and turned to Faith. "Dislocated my arm during the game."

Faith frowned his words, keeping her eyes on the sling. Faith looked up at Sam and saw him already smiling at her. Faith smiled back before looking back to her dad, taking another sip of the coffee.

Someone walked into the room, making both of their heads shoot up. They watched as Kurt walked in, eyeing Sam.

Sam cleared his throat and got off of his chair. He looked down at Faith and rubbed his good hand on his jeans. "I should get going. Probably freaked out my mom since I'm not back yet." He laughed out before he pointed at coffee cup in Faith hand. "Enjoy the coffee."

Faith smiled as she looked down at the coffee. She looked back up at Sam and nodded. Sam gave her one more smile before walking out.

Kurt watched Sam leave before turning to Faith with a wide eyed "what was that?" expression. He took Sam's spot next to Faith and continued to smile at his sister. "Okay, whenever you start talking again I'm gonna need details on whatever that was."

Faith laughed at Kurt's words, shaking her head. Kurt laughed with her, resting his head on Faiths shoulder. They continued to laugh as Faith put her head on top of Kurt's. When their laughs started to die down, Faith could've sworn she felt her dad squeeze her hand.

Faiths eyes widened as her eyes shifted to her hands. Her dad fingers were curled around her hand and Faith sat up. "Kurt?" Faith asked, her voice shaky and barely audible but Kurt immediately sat up since it was the first time he's heard her speak in a week.

He looked were she was looking and watched and their dad squeezed Faiths hand tighter. A small smile grew on Faiths face, tears started to come into her eyes.

Her dad was waking up.

Faith and Kurt shot out of their seats, looking out the hospital door.

"Nurse!"
