"Why my laptop is not working?",Laksh murmured while examining the laptop.

"Payal, Payal", Laksh shouted from the bedroom.

Payal left her work in the kitchen and came to the bedroom.

"Yes Laksh , what happened? Why are you shouting like this ? Your face looks like you are going to kill someone right now ", Payal said while laughing.

Laksh gave an angry glare to Payal which made her scared. Laksh is always a cool person when compare to Payal , he doesn't get angry on simple things but when he gets angry , he is like a mad bull , which is tough to handle.

"Who throwed water on my laptop?", Laksh asked to Payal.

"I don't know ,let me see',Payal said and started looking at the laptop.

"Harshita , Diya come to the bedroom right now", Laksh shouted.

Both the girls came to the bedroom as soon as they heared there father screaming.

"Who throwed water on my laptop?", Laksh asked while standing in front of them with his hands folded.

"I didn't throw the water dad", Diya said as soon as Laksh asked.

"Aww..!! You are such a big lier Diya. I myself saw you cleaning the laptop after you spilled water on it", Harshita said.

"No dad I didn't throw water on the laptop", Diya said with a horrified expressions.

"Then you are trying to say I am lying?", Harshita asked Diya with anger in her eyes.

Both of them started arguing in front of there parents which irriked Laksh to next level.

"Shut up both of you and dare you lie to me. Tell me who spilled water on the laptop", Laksh shouted at top of his voice.

Both the girls got scared,as this is the first time they are seeing this side of there father. Payal who was just listening to all this till now finally spoke.

"I know who did this",Payal said and stood beside Laksh.

All three pair of eyes were on Payal now. Harshita is sure that Payal will save her from her father's wrath and on the other hand Diya knew that Payal will tell that it is Harshita who spilled the water.

"Diya , I never knew you are such a bigger lier. I know it is you only who spilled the water",Payal said.

"No mom ,I didn't spill the water and you know I don't lie", Diya said while crying.

"Then what do mean my princess is lying?",Payal asked glaring at Diya.

"Yes mom she is lying. I didn't spill the water",Diya said.

All three stared arguing. Diya is trying to prove her innocence but Payal and Harshita are not listening to it. Laksh is getting irritated by this. He turned Diya towards him and then...

"Slap..."

Laksh slapped Diya on her face. It is so sudden that Harshita and Payal got shocked. Diya stood rooted to her place with her hand on her cheeks. With her teary vision which is blur she is looking at her father. This is the first time in her life when her dad has raised hand on her.

"You bitch , do you even know how much this laptop cost? You people get everything you want without earning a single penny, so you don't have value of those things", Laksh shouted at Diya.

"D..A...D.., I. . Didn't threw the water", Diya said with a cracking voice..

"Shut up , and Payal no need to give her food for 2 days. Lock the kitchen as soon as you finish the work and don't allow her to eat anything from kitchen. She should be thought a lesson so that next time before touching any of my things she will think 1000 times", Laksh told this to Payal and went away from there.

Diya is still standing there with her palm on her cheeks. Laksh has slapped Diya so hard that his fingers are been printed on Diya's cheeks.

"Now will you tell me how did that water got spilled on laptop?", Payal asked Harshita while raising her eyebrows.

"Actually ,mom I was playing game in the mobile and I felt thirsty so there was a bottle placed just beside the laptop and I was so engrossed in my game that after drinking water when I was keeping the bottle back , it slipped from my hand and remaining water in the bottle got spilled on the laptop", Harshita told to Payal.

"Ok but from next time be very careful ,pause the game for two minutes and do your work properly",Payal instructed to Harshita.

"Then why did you lie to dad?", Diya asked while wiping her tears from her cheeks.

"Then what you expect me to do? I should have said dad , by mistake I spilled the water on your laptop, so that he could give me the punishment which he gave you?", Harshita asked.

"You very well know dad wouldn't punish you ,so you could have said the truth",Diya tried to argue.

"Girl , stop with your nonsense now and go and do your work", Harshita said while sitting on the couch.

After looking at both her mom and sister Diya went to do her work.

As said by her father , Diya's mother didn't give lunch to Diya nor she was allowed to have any other thing as well. Whole day she wasn't provided with food.

Next day morning Diya got up with a headache and has weakness as she didn't have anything from more then 30 hours. After her father went to shop Diya went to her mom's room to talk to her.

"Mom ,please give me something to eat, I am too hungry and even my head is aching now", Diya requested her mom.

"I can't give you anything to eat , it is your punishment and i don't go against to my husband's words",Payal told to Diya.

"But mom , you very well know that I didn't deserve this punishment . I got this punishment without even doing the mistake",Diya tried to argue.

"Get lost from here and if you are hungry then go out after your work is finished and eat and come whatever you want ", Payal said and again got busy in her phone.

With a sad face and tired body Diya started doing her work. As soon as she completed her work and is going to step out of her home, her father came. She went inside the kitchen and helped her mom.

Diya is staring at the food from the kitchen but her parents don't even care that there daughter has not eaten anything from past one and a half day. Payal , Laksh and Harshita are enjoying there family time unaffected by Diya's presence.

After cleaning the vessels and arranging them ,Diya went to her room and checked her bag in hope that she gets something to eat in her bag. There were 2 biscuits in her bag and seeing them her eyes twinkled.

She took them out of her bag and started eating it but her hunger was still not trenched. She checked for her purse and found she is only left with 100 rupees so she can't afford a full meal but she can go out and have something.

After informing her mom, she went to a vada pav vendor and took 2 vada pav ' s after paying 30 rupees she started eating it.

After coming back home she started helping her mom in kitchen.

"What you eat and came?", Payal asked.

"2 vada pav", Diya answered unaver of the person standing at the kitchen door.

That person came in the kitchen and turned Diya to himself and slapped her hard on her cheeks.

"Didn't I tell you that you shouldn't eat anything for 2 days?", Lasksh asked her in an angry voice.

"D..A...D , I..was very...hungry so...",Diya said while crying.

"Shut up and you Payal , I have strictly warned you to not allow her to eat, but you didn't listen to my words", Laksh said looking at Payal.

"I told her not to go against your words and control her hunger for another half day but this girl never listen to me. I told her I am not going to give anything to her to eat here , so she said she is going out and will have and come from outside and I am her mother na so I became bit soft on her and told her to do whatever she want", Payal said with fake tears.

"Don't cry Payal , it's ok. I can understand you are a mother so you came in her words but now you won't", Lasksh said while taking Payal in his arms.

"And you are not going to get any food even tommorow", Lasksh said while looking at Diya with rage in his eyes.

Diya ran away to her room from her parents room crying. She went and stood under the shower and started crying. She sat on the floor and cried her heart out.

After half an hour she dried herself and looked at her own reflection in the mirror. Her both the cheeks have fingerprints of Laksh. Her eyes are swollen from all that crying. Now she had decided that she won't cry anymore and will be strong to face any situations...

On the other side Payal and Harshita are laughing discussing about how Payal knew that Laksh is standing at the door and listening to her conversation with Diya. She purposely asked Diya what she eat and came.

"Mom ,you are genius. You knew dad is standing at the door and listening to your conversation ,but too you asked her that question and poor she , she is getting the punishment for that mistake which she has not even committed", Harshita said while laughing.

"Well I get lots of happiness when she cry. I don't know why but I feel happy seeing her vulnerable condition", Payal said.

"Sometimes I really doubt whether you are her real mother or step mother?", Harshita said while laughing.

"I am her real mother but I like to behave like a stepmother with her", Payal too joined Harshita in laughing.
