Chapter 7 The Destruction
(With Jack and Chris)
The twins were searching through Rina's zombie movies and video games while also keeping an eye on Lucy who was sleeping in Rina's bed.
"Man Rina has good taste in games and movies. Where has this girl been all my life?" Jack asked.
"Yeah, knowing you the two of you would've been good friends." Chris stated.
"Yeah but man she has a lot more of these zombie movies and games then I did back home. Ha if I didn't know any better I would have thought she was one.... Why do I feel like that's foreshadowing?" Jack asked.
"What?" Chris said, confused.
"Never mind, just a silly thought." Jack said dismissively.
"... Hey Bro how do you think things at school would've gone for us back at school if everyone had listened to us?" Chris asked.
"Hmm... I think the same way as when they didn't listen to us. After all the principle was going to go on the intercom either way so I think that the outcome would've been the same." Jack explained sadly.
"Yeah I think you're right... well at least we meet Rina and the others if we didn't we might as well be dead." Chris said.
"Yeah... well hey this could be worse I mean the zombies could go through some kind of mutation like some of the zombies In Left for dead." Jack said jokingly.
"Haha yeah I bet, seems like we got zombies that are easy to deal with." Chris said, mocking the undead.
However little did the two brothers know was that Seven was listening in on their conversation and heard what they said about his zombies.
'Hehe oh you all haven't seen anything yet. My virus is just getting warmed up, the mutation in some of the infected will begin soon, and I hope my little sister will be ready for the battle that's coming.' Seven thought to himself as he went back up stairs before the two could notice him.
(Later)
Rina was heading into the bathroom when she heard someone throwing up in the bathroom. Scared, Rina opened the door and saw Janet hunched over the toilet and throwing up violently.
"OMG! Janet! Are you okay!?" Rina asked scared and worried while running up to Janet to comfort her.
"Ugh *cough-cough* y-yeah I'm fine." Janet said as she leaned back into Rina.
Rina observed Janet and saw that she was holding onto her stomach. At first Rina didn't think about it as Janet just threw up, but she felt like something else was up.
"Janet, is there something you wanna tell me?" Rina asked.
Janet got nervous at Rina's question as she didn't know how to break the news to her. However when Janet looked back at Rina's face she saw that Rina had a stern look on her face. The look Rina had told her that she wasn't asking for an answer she was demanding for an answer with no excuses.
"*Sigh* Okay Rina there's something going on with me." Janet said.
"And that is?" Rian asked with her eye brow crooked.
"... I'm... I'm pregnant." Janet said before burying her face in her hands in shame.
When Rina heard that, she felt like someone just punched her in the gut, as she knew that being pregnant in the apocalypse isn't a good thing. This is because she's watched zombie movies and played zombie games where women who were pregnant would have an incredibly hard time. Not to mention them giving birth to their kids in the middle of a hoard which isn't good in the slightest.
"Janet, how long have you been pregnant for?" Rina asked.
"Just about a week before the outbreak took place, I was still wondering if I should tell Lee or not yet so he doesn't know. Then the outbreak happened and I didnt have the chance to decide if I should keep the baby or not. Now I don't have much of a choice, as possibly by the time this is all over I'll be too deep into my pregnancy to even have a choice." Janet explained.
She then began to cry a little as she was scared about what was going to happen to her and her baby, along with how everyone else would take the news. Most of all Janet was terrified of how Lee would react to the news that he would become a teenage dad soon. After hearing Janet explain what was going on Rina embraced her in a tight hug.
"Janet I might not be able to understand your situation, but I know that something like this can be stressful. With the current situation at hand it doesn't help in the slightest." Rina explained.
"Yeah I know but what if Lee rejects the baby?" Janet asked worriedly.
"If he dares, he better protect his little friend cause I'm going after it with my hunting knife." Rina explained firmly.
When Janet heard that she felt a bit worried for Lee but also felt a bit better that Rina would be there to defend her.
'Man I wished I met her when I was with my Ex. She could've helped me out a lot with breaking up with him.' Janet thought to herself.
Rina then got up and extended her hand out to Janet, she took it and Rina helped her get up.
"So let's go tell Lee the news and don't worry Janet I'll be there with you all the way." Rina said reassuringly.
"Thanks Rina, I'm glad I told you that I feel a lot better now that I got it off my chest." Janet said.
"Anything for my friends, not let's go tell Lee he's about to be a dad." Rina said then took Janet out of the bathroom and into the living room.
The two find Lee in the living room and saw he was watching the news, when they looked at the news they saw that the virus has now spread to about four more states.
"Oh god this is getting worse and worse." Lee said in a scared tone.
"Yeah no joke Lee, I hope that this will get resolved soon!" Rina said just as worried.
Lee looked back and saw both Rina and Janet standing behind him.
"Oh hey Rina, hey love what do you need something or do you just wanna hang?" Lee asked.
"Well Janet has something to tell you." Rina said.
"Huh? What is it, love? Is everything okay?" Lee asked.
Janet then looked at Rina still nervous, however Rina just put her hand on her shoulder and the look on her face was that of encouragement. Janet then slowly breathed in and out before taking a seat right next to Lee.
"Lee, you know I love you right?" Janet asked.
"Of course I know Janet I love you too, why would you ask something like that?" Lee asked.
"Well... please don't freak out but, I-I'm... I'M PREGNANT!" Janet blurted out.
When Lee heard that I felt like someone just punched him in the gut, his ears started ringing and he felt his guts noting.
"Lee?" Janet asked and was about to hold his hand when he started talking.
"I-I Um.. I need to process this. I'm going outside for some fresh air, and when I come back in, we'll talk more about this." Lee said, before getting up and walking outside.
"Well that went pretty well." Rina said.
"Did it? Did it go well Rina?" Janet asked.
"He didn't freak out, he said he needed to process this, so that means he just needs some time to think about this." Rina said.
"*sigh I hope you're right Rina, I hope you are." Janet said while hugging onto her stomach tightly.
(Meanwhile outside)
Ron was sitting on the porch looking out onto what was left of the city. Lee then came out of the house and walked up to the porch railing before leaning on it.
"Hey man what's up?" Ron asked.
"N-Nothing just came out here for some fresh air." Lee said.
"Okay man... I still can't believe this is happening to us." Ron said.
"Yeah me too, it seems like yesterday we were preparing for our finals before summer break and then this happened." Lee said.
"Yeah man my parents had so many plans for the summer and I was planning on getting a girlfriend so I wouldn't feel like I was being a third wheel in your and Janet's relationship." Ron explained.
When Lee heard Ron mention his and Janet's relationship his stomach noted up again as he didn't know what to do about her being pregnant. While he was happy he was going to be a father he would be a lot happier if it was under different circumstances. Ron looked up at Lee and saw his tense expression, worried he decided to ask what was wrong.
"Hey Lee you good man?" Ron asked.
"Um well... Ron, if you had a girlfriend and she told you she was pregnant while we're going through this, what would you do?" Lee asked.
"Um well I'd freak out but calmly and try to think of what to do why?... Wait, no you didn't!" Ron said, realizing what was going on.
Lee blushed embarrassed and looked away as Ron came up to him with a shocked look on his face. Ron then grabbed Lee by the shoulders and turned him over to face him and screamed
"YOU GOT JANET PREGNANT!" Lee blushed again and slowly nodded his head and Ron let go of Lee before groaning.
"Oh god why of all times for an apocalypse to happen it had to be when Janet is pregnant?" Ron asked.
"You're not upset are you?" Lee asked.
"No I just wish that this wasn't happening otherwise I'd be congratulating you two, but now we gotta worry more about Janet as she has an unborn baby growing in her right now." Ron explained.
"Yeah I know and I don't know how to feel right now, it's a lot to process and I know Janet had an abortion in the past because of her ex-boyfriend before she met me." Lee explained.
"Yeah from what we know that guy was a douche and I hope he died in this." Ron said.
"Me too, I love Janet and I'm going to be with her through both this outbreak and her pregnancy. I'm not like her ex. I'm going to be with her till the end, unlike that jackass who broke up with her after getting her pregnant on purpose." Lee stated.
"There we go man! Lee you're the boss and I know that baby will have a cool thing to tell their classmates when they get older." Ron said.
"Huh? What do you mean by that, Ron?" Lee asked, confused.
"Well if we survive and Janet successfully gives birth we can tell the little one about this and they can brag about his parents being zombie apocalypse survivors." Ron explained.
"Okay fair but let's worry about what's happening right now, I'm going back in to tell Janet I'll be here for her and our baby." Lee said.
Ron nodded while smiling and the two went back inside. However when they went in they saw something on the TV that made their hearts drop. On the TV was a news woman making an announcement regarding the situation.
"We are currently getting reports on the current pandemic going on in the U.S right now. Live on the scene is Reporter Chloe who will give us an update on the situation from within the safety of a helicopter." The news woman said.
The news then cut to a woman who was holding onto support in the copter so she won't fall.
"Thank you Maddie, so as you can all see we're over the state of Arazona where the infarction has spread onto. As you all can see the areas where the virus has spread has become a ghost town, and we can see that lots of violence has erupted and- wha what is that!" Chloe exclaimed concern as the camera man looked in the area she was looking at.
The camera turned and saw some kind of creature with unnaturally long limbs crawling up a building near the helicopter. The Creature then turned to the news crew in the copter and it jumped right at them. Even though the copter was pretty far away the creature managed to grab onto the copter causing it to get out of control.
The newswoman and cameraman screamed and the pilot tried to get the thing off the copter and straighten it out. The camera then turned to the creature who was climbing into the copter. The creature then jumped at the cameraman and everything went blank after that. The gang froze in fear when they saw all that horrific image.
"W-what, the fuck was that?" Jack asked in shock.
"I don't know and I don't want to know." Ron said with his eyes widened in shock.
Janet then turned off the TV thinking that what they just saw was enough for them.
"Okay well I'm glad we're here and that thing is there." Jack said.
"Me too bro me too." Chris agreed with his brother.
"Yeah and as long as my house has food, water, and is still standing we're staying here as it's the safest place to be right now." Rina stated.
"Oh yeah that reminds me, Rina I noticed that the three support beams are pretty old and unstable, where are your parents going to do something about that?" Janet asked.
"Oh yeah they were going to have those beams replaced with stronger ones, like metal or concrete. However with the delicate process as those beams are the only things keeping this house it's not cheap in the slightest." Rina explained.
"Ah, it makes sense something like this would indeed be very expensive. Like hiring those who know how to replace the beams without causing the house to collapse is not going to be cheap." Janet explained.
"Um we don't need to worry about the house caving in on us right?" Jack asked worried about the house.
"No don't worry the support beams won't collapse unless they've had a large amount of damage done to them, so we'll be fine as long as no big thing damages them." Rina explained.
"Cool and one more question, Rina, how old is this house? It has some stuff from the olden days, what's up with that?" Chris asked.
"Oh well this house was built by my fifth great grandfather, he then started Leaving the house to his son and so on. This house is kinda like a family ear loom as it's been in my family for many generations." Rina explained.
"Aww that's so sweet." Janet said.
"Yeah thanks and don't worry guys as long as this house is standing we'll stay here as it's safe and we got supplies." Rina stated.
"Awesome! Oh and hey I've been working on a little something since this all started." Jack said.
"Really what is it?" Ron asked.
"I'll show you all, follow me." Jack explained then started walking over to the kitchen where a camera and a laptop were resting.
"Hey Janet, can we talk later?" Lee asked.
"Um... sure we can." Janet said.
The group then went to the laptop and Jack showed them what he was working on.
"Hello there I'm Jack Scot and I wanted to make a little document on what's going on here. For those of you who don't know the world is going coo coo crazy right now." Jack in the video explained.
"Wait Jack you're making a documentary of this?" Rina asked.
"Yeah I hope that was okay?" Jack asked.
"It's great something like this could help survivors continue to survive if they end up finding it and learning about what we know about the zombies!" Rina explains before hugging Jack.
"Wait really?" Jack asked.
"Yeah if we learn something new about the zombies you can document it and if anyone finds it and you know how to stop them they can use that to survive." Rina explained.
"Awesome! Now my little documentary has a reason to be made! I was just doing it for fun at first and to make the best out of a bad situation. Thanks Rina, you're awesome!" Jack exclaimed happily.
"Hey guys what's up?" The gang heard Beth ask.
They looked at the doorway that led to Rina's room and saw Beth with Boy standing next to her holding her hand, along with Lucy in her arms.
"Hey Beth, how's Lucy?" Rina asked.
"She's fine, just tired from her little nap." Beth explained.
"As long as she's alright then that's cool with me." Rina explained as she took Lucy out of Beth's arms.
"Hi Rina." Lucy said sleepy.
"Hey Lucy, you enjoyed your nap?" Rina asked.
"Yeah *yawn* I did." Lucy said.
"That's good to- *CRASH*" Rina was saying before she was interrupted by a crashing sound coming from the next room.
When Rina heard that she felt her heart drop as that room was where one of the support beams where.
"CRAP GUYS THAT ROOM IS WHERE ONE OF THE SUPPORT BEAMS ARE, WE NEED TO GO SEE IF IT'S OKAY!" Rina screamed in a panic.
When everyone heard that they got scared and ran to the room, Jack however grabbed his Camera and Laptop to keep the recording he made and so he could make more in the future. Once they arrived in the room they saw who they thought was Carter and a destroyed support beam.
"WHAT THE FUCK! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!" Rina screamed angrily.
Seven then turned around and the gang was horrified upon seeing his hideous face.
"AHH! WHAT THE HELL!" Ron screamed.
"YOU LOOK LIKE NEMESIS FROM RESIDENT EVIL 3 BUT TEN TIME UGLYER!" Jack screamed in fear.
"How dare you say such a thing to me!" Seven exclaimed angrily.
"Wait, who are you? If you're not Carter then who are you!?" Lee asked.
"Oh we'll have plenty of time to get to know one another, seeing as this house won't be lasting for much longer as I took out the other two support beams so I'll be seeing you around." Seven said before he ran to an open window and leaped out of it.
The gang ran to the window and saw him jumping insanely high and out of sight from the gang. The house then started crumbling and breaking which alerted the group that it was about to fall down on top of them.
"EVERYONE GET OUTSIDE NOW! WE NEED TO LEAVE!" Rina screamed as she held Lucy tightly against her chest and ran out of the house.
Beth also picked up Boy and held him tightly against her chest while he started crying and asking what was happening. Beth tried to calm him down so he wouldn't get too stressed out, she knew if that happened his alternate personality would take over and she didn't need that right now. As they were running Jack stopped for a moment which caused his brother to look back as well.
"BRO WHAT ARE YOU DOING LET'S GO!" Chris screamed in fear.
"I NEED TO GRAB SOMETHING REAL QUICK!" Jack screamed back before running into another room.
Chris stood there waiting anxiously for his brother to get out of the room.
Rina then screamed "CHRIS WHAT ARE YOU AND JACK DOING THE HOUSE IS GOING TO CAVE IN AT ANY MINUTE NOW!"
"JACK SAID HE HAD TO GET SOMETHING I DON'T KNOW WHAT THOU!" Chris explained while looking at the entrance of the room his brother ran into.
When Rina heard that she was about to run into that room to smack some sense into Jack. However that was until he came running out of the room with a photo album in his arms. Jack then ran up to his brother, grabbed his hand, and dragged him out of the house.
Rina led them out of the front door and when they got outside Rina collapsed into Ron's arms. When Jack and Chris got out Bethany ran into Jack's arms relieved that he was able to make it out alive.
The gang then heard wood crumbling and breaking, so they looked back to see Rina's house crumbling to the ground like a poorly built gingerbread house. Rina watched in horrors and sadness as her childhood house and practical family era loom fall to the ground.
Tears started rolling down her face as she watched the only home she ever knew finally fall down after it stood up for such a long time. Once the house was done collapsing Rina fell to her knees and just stared at her home.
She then felt someone putting their hand on her shoulder, she looked to see Ron giving her a sympathetic look. Rina began crying as she hugged Ron and cried into his shoulder.
The rest of the gang all hugged her and comforted her as she cried and mourned over the loss. After about a minute Rina calmed down and was able to collect herself.
"Okay, Okay I'm better now, and now I wanna say something. *turns to Jack and slaps him in the face* JACK WHAT THE FUCK! YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN YOURSELF KILLED OUT THERE!" Rina screamed in anger.
"Ow! Okay yeah I deserve that, but you'll thank me later for pulling that dumbass move." Jack explained as he rubbed his cheek.
"And why do you say that?" Rina asked.
Jack then showed her the photo album and Rina saw that it was her parents photo album.
"I thought you might want this to be safe as it has lots of memories in it." Jack explained.
Rina's eyes widened and she calmed down as she took the photo album and held it tightly against her chest as it was the most valuable thing in the world.
"Jack thank you, oh thank you, you have no idea how much this means to me." Rina explained.
"I know that's why I went back to get it." Jack said.
Rina then hugged him, causing Ron to become a little jealous of this, but reminded himself that Jack is possibly interested in Bethany.
"Rina... what do we do now? We don't have a home anymore so where could we go now?" Lucy asked.
Rina then let go of Jack and thought about what they could do now that her house was gone.
"We'll first look for any supplies that survived and find a new place to stay till this is over or till the government sends over someone to come and evacuate survivors. Now remember we need food, water, guns, and other weapons that will help keep us alive." Rina stated firmly.
Everyone nodded and went into the wreckage to look around for anything that survived the destruction. After some time, Janet found some food and water, Jack and Chris found some guns, Lee found some more food, Ron found some knives, and Rina was able to find the keys to her dad's electric car.
"Okay guys let's pack up the supplies into my dad's electric and then head out to find a new place to stay in." Rina said.
"Alright girls Boss, let's move, I don't want to be out here exposed for too long." Ron said.
"Same here, it'll be dark soon and the last thing I want is to be outside during a zombie apocalypse." Lee explained.
Rina looked around and noticed that two of them were missing.
"Hey where's Beth and Boy?" Rina asked.
"Don't worry we're here, we just went into your room to get something." Beth explained.
"Rina looked over and saw Beth had some books in her arms and Boy had Lucy's teddy bear in his hands.
"I thought that we could use some entertainment and Boy told me that Lucy would like to have her teddy bear back." Beth explained.
"Really? Well thank you both." Rina said grateful.
"Mister, Fluffy!" Lucy exclaimed then ran up to Boy and took her teddy bear.
"Thank you Boy this means a lot to me." Lucy said.
"Um, is it okay if I ask but why is it so important to you?" Boy asked curiously.
"It was a gift from my dad for my birthday last year. It was the last thing he gave me before this, so it now means a lot to me." Lucy explained.
"Oh okay, well I'm glad I got it back for you." Boy said happy that he did something good for a friend.
Beth smiled at this and started helping with getting everything into the car. After an hour of organizing things and looking for supplies the gang had everything they needed.
"Okay everyone in the car and lets get going, I know how to drive this thing so I'll be in the driver's seat. Oh and one more thing there's a new rule for the apocalypse." Rina stated firmly.
"And what's that Rina?" Chris asked.
"After what just happened we won't be taking any other survivors as the one me and Ron brought back wasn't human and destroyed my house so we can't take anymore chances." Rina explained.
"... well that's understandable after all this I don't blame you for not wanting to take any more chances with other survivors." Janet explained.
"Yeah so let's get going and find a new place to stay till this is all over." Rina said then got into the car.
Everyone else followed her into the car and Rina started up the car and drove off into the unknown. She didn't know where her and her friends were going to go now, but she knew that they had to stick together in order to survive. However she couldn't shake the feeling that the strange man who destroyed her house would be back and that scared her the most.
