Chapter 7 | Movie Night

"Hah! I beat you again!" I yelled as I slammed the Xbox controller down. Kira frowns as I stand up and do a happy dance, winning the game now four times in a row.

"I've never played this before," Kira says while leaning back against the bed. I stop dancing and stare at her.

"You've never played GTA before?" I say, astonishment in my voice.

Kira shakes her head, looking at the ground. "I've never played on a Xbox..."

I widen my eyes. "Well, how about we go do something else. How about a movie?"

Kira looks up at me with a smile on her face. "Sure! What movie though?"

I shrug as she stands. "We can rent something off of Amazon or something. I've heard that Grave Encounters was really scary."

Kira shakes her head as we walk out of the room. "No scary movies. I don't do scary movies."

I look back at her, raising an eyebrow. "What's wrong with scary movies?"

She shrugs. "I don't know. They always scare the pants off of me. I can never sleep for a week after I watch them. Especially those ones with ghosts and werewolves."

I freeze when I hear her say this. Werewolves. The boy she had a crush on. The boy that scared me half to death as well. To be honest, Kira was here right now as a distraction. I couldn't be alone with my thoughts or else it would drive me mad. I forgot about it all until she mentions that.

"Those always scare me too," I say, adding a fake laugh. I kept wondering what would happen to her if she ever found out one day. If she can hardly handle movies, how can she handle it in real life?

"How about we watch Insurgent," Kira says as I step off the last step. "I've heard that it's supposed to be super good."

I nod my head as we walk to my kitchen, the cold tile below my feet sending chills up my spine. "I forgot about that one! I loved Divergent so much. Four will always be my favorite."

Kira nods and smiles. "Amen to that."

I laugh before I reach up into my cabinet, pulling out a box of microwaveable popcorn. I pull out two bags before shoving the box away, turning back towards Kira. She takes a seat at the counter top before I put the popcorn in, setting the timer.

"You know what I just realized?" Kira says, folding her hands on the counter top. "I don't even know your last name."

I chuckle. "It's Manchester. Sarah Manchester."

Kira nods. "You already know mine."

I smile before walking over to the counter top, leaning onto it. "So, what's your story?"

She raises an eyebrow. "My story?"

I nod. "Yeah you know. Like your previous school, your hobbies, your interests. I've gotta know if we're going to be friends."

Kira laughs before thinking. "Well, there isn't much to talk about. I mean, we came from New York..."

"What else?" I say, not sounding intimidating. "Like what's your favorite color? Book? Movie?"

Kira smiles. "Red, The Hunger Games, and Fox and the Hound."

I nod my head. "Blue, The Maze Runner, and obviously Star Wars."

Kira nods her head. "What's your favorite song?"

I think for a moment before answering. "No Interruption by Hoodie Allen."

Kira nods, knowing the song. "I love Elastic Heart by Sia."

"That's a good song!" I say, smiling. "Okay, who's your favorite celebrity?"

Kira thinks. "Definetly Ki Hong Lee. He is so hot."

I laugh. "I love Stephen Amell. He is such a great actor."

Kira thinks of another question before blurting it out. "Craziest thing your parents have done?"

I pause, sadness coming over me. Kira shakes her head, her expression fading. "I'm so sorry I wasn't thinking-"

"No, it's fine," I say, putting on a fake smile. I sigh before looking at the counter top. "I honestly can't remember the craziest thing."

Kira leans forward, her eyes fixed on me. "If you don't want to answer this, I totally understand, but what exactly happened to your parents?"

I gulp, holding back tears. I wasn't angry at Kira for asking this; mostly because I'd have to tell her eventually. I needed to talk about it anyways. It's not something I can just forget.

"Well, I was-what was it?- I was twelve I think when it happened. I woke up in the middle of night and saw that our house was on fire. My mother was trapped under a beam and couldn't get free. She died," I say, staring at the floor. "I was with her when it happened. I watched her die right in front of me."

Kira's eyes soften. "Im so sorry."

I nod slowly. "I'm fine. Stephen's fine. It's just hard to let go, you know?"

Kira shakes her head. "You can never let go. Never forget. You just have to move on."

I nod, understanding what she was saying. "But then Vanesa and Zach adopted us and here we are."

Kira is silent for a moment before speaking. "What about your dad?"

Some type of anger rises in me, but I shove it back down. "He left us whenever I was little. He left us and never looked back. My mother always told me he had a gambling problem, but I could care less. He still left us. He left my mother with two little kids to take care of on her own. Sometimes I like to blame the fire on him. If he would have been there, my mother could still be alive."

Kira sits in silence, taking in what I was saying. "I'm so sorry, Sarah."

I don't get a chance to answer her when the door bell rings, making me furrow my eyebrows. Kira and I exchange glances before I look at the time, seeing that it was already almost ten. Who would be at my house this late?

I get up and walk to the door, Kira standing behind me. My eye goes up to the little peep hole, looking through and seeing Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski standing there. I groan before opening the door, their expressions changing when they see that Kira was here.

"Oh-hey Kira," Scott says, giving her a long glance.

Stiles looks at me. "Hey Sarah."

I nod my head, trying to contain the fact that I wasn't in the mood to talk to them. I didn't mind Stiles, mostly because he hasn't really talked to me about the whole supernatural thing. But then again, maybe that's why he was here right now with Scott.

"Hey guys," Kira says as I remain silent. The boys in front of us nod their heads before I finally find my voice.

"What do you guys want at 10 o'clock at night?" I ask.

They both glance at one another before turning back to me. "We just wanted to see if you guys were okay after today."

I nod my head, resting my hand against the door knob. "I'm fine. We're fine."

Scott and Stiles both nod. Kira folds her hands in front of her, feeling the awkwardness in the air. "Okay, well..."

"Do you guys want to come inside?" Kira blurts out. I look at her, confused as to why she asked that. She opens her mouth slightly, realizing what she just said. She shakes her head, trying to recover. "I mean, it's up to Sarah."

Scott and Stiles both look at me, waiting for my consent. I mean, what else was I supposed to say? No, you can't come in? How rude would that be? I sigh before opening the door up farther, escorting the two boys inside.

Scott and Stiles both smile before they walk inside, looking around my house. Since they were distracted, I quickly whispered to Kira. "What are you doing?"

She raises her shoulders. "I have no clue. It just slipped."

I sigh. "What are we supposed to do with these two?"

Kira shrugs. "Maybe we can just watch that movie or something."

I nod my head, okay with that answer. That meant that there would be no talking; which was what I needed right now. I wasn't in the mood for boys.

"We were about to watch Insurgent," I say, walking forward.

Stiles turns to me. "Really? I really want to see that."

I nod my head before the microwave beeps, telling me that the popcorn was done. I look into the kitchen before back at my guests. "You guys can go sit down in the living room. I'll go get the popcorn."

The three of them nod before walking to the living room, Kira leading the way. I walk into the kitchen before pulling the two bags out, dumping them into two seperate bowls. I sprinkled some of that chedder powder over the top of it, adding some flavor. I glance around the kitchen before grabbing four Mountain Dews; everyone likes Mountain Dew, right?

With my hands packed full of goodies, I make my way to the living room. I almost tripped over a shoe someone left in the hallway, but I quickly recovered myself. I've never really been the clumsy type; I've always been pretty well balanced. Another one of my many perks I suppose.

My eyes scan the room as soon as I walk inside, seeing that Kira was sitting next to Scott on the couch. Stiles sat across the room in another one of our couches. I stare at the spots left to sit, seeing that next to Stiles was the only option. I didn't really mind; I was more happy than upset.

I set the bowls of popcorn onto the table before passing out the Mountain Dews. "I hope everyone likes Mountain Dew."

They all nod as they crack open their cans. "Only thing I drink," Stiles remarks, taking a huge gulp.

I smile before cracking my can open as well, taking a huge swig. I didn't usually drink soda, mostly tea and water, but I felt like it tonight. Stephen is the only one who Vanesa buys soda for anyways.

"Alright," I say while sitting down next to Stiles. He scoots towards me ever so slightly, trying to be smooth about it. I don't think he realized how noiciable it really was.

After I get the movie up and ready, I look over and see that Kira and Scott were unusually close as well. I was happy for her. Kira deserved someone; but then again, maybe not a werewolf. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that them two together wasn't a very good idea. I wasn't going to say anything to Kira, but I might to Scott.

"Uh, are you going to turn the lights off?" Scott says, snapping me from my little trance. I look up at him before rolling my eyes.

"Oh yeah," I say before clapping my hands, the lights flicking off above us. Everyone looks up in astonishment; probably because they've never seen lights like that before. You see, since Vanesa and Zach had enough money to adopt us, they were practically rich. I don't really like to talk about it much because Stephen and I came from a poorer family. All of this was still kinda new to us.

I sit back and watch as the movie starts, the light illuminating the room. I felt my eye lids begin to grow heavy before I feel something touch my hand, my eyes snapping open. I look down and see that Stiles' hand was resting ever so slightly against mine, making tingles shoot through me.

I look up from his hand and look at his face, seeing him half smiling. I smiled a little before looking away, looking back at the movie. However, I couldn't focus since the boy's hand I have a crush on is touching mine. Suddenly, everything in my life seemed less crappy. It was like he made me forget it all.

I hear a loud beep come from the kitchen, causing everyone to look towards it. I scramble off of the couch, my hand disconnecting from Stiles'. "It's probably just a timer. I'll go shut it off."

I hurry as I leave the room, sort of embarrassed for some odd reason. My socks slide across the kitchen floor when I realize that it was the microwave going off again. I must have forgot to turn the timer off the first time around. I reach up and turn the timer off, sighing.

My hands rest against the counter top before I turn around, slamming into something. A scream leaves my lips before a hand comes across my mouth, blocking any sound from coming out. My eyes dart up to the person's face and notice that it was just Stiles.

Stiles takes his hand away. "What the hell were you doing?" I loudly whisper. "You about gave me a heart attack!"

Stiles grins down at me. "I just came to talk to you."

I raise an eyebrow. "Talk to me about what?"

He steps closer. "About Scott."

I sigh, knowing that this was going to happen sooner or later. "Stiles, I'm fine. I don't particuarly feel like talking about it at the moment."

Stiles looks at the floor. "I'm sorry, I just wanted to make sure. Scott told me about the car wreck, the hospital, what happened in the school hallway-"

I close my eyes, everything flooding back to me again. "Stiles, really, I'm fine."

Stiles smiles again. "Good."

I nod towards him before beginning to walk around him. He grabs my arm before pulling me back, causing me to have a confused expression on my face. Stiles doesn't hesitate as he leans into my face, his lips touching mine. I was taken back at the kiss; I wasn't exactly prepared for it.

Stiles must have realized how tense I was because he then pulled away, running his fingers through his hair awkwardly. "Sorry, I didn't-"

I shake my head, staring up at his golden eyes. "It's okay. Really-"

Stiles nods his head quickly, obviously showing regret on his face. He knew that I wasn't really into the kiss at the moment because of everything going on. He knew that he had poor timing. I hated seeing him like that, so I decided to kiss him again so he wouldn't beat himself up about it.

Stiles was taken back this time as well as I pressed my lips to his, softly and gently. He calms himself before kissing me back, not wanting to seperate. I keep my eyes closed before I pull away, smiling up at him. He smiles down at me before taking my hand, looking back towards the living room.

"Let's go finish that movie."

-------------------

Okay that was too much fluff for me, so I can't even imagine what it was like for you guys. I only made it this cheesy because Stiles is going to be all Void soon, and I wanted to build their relationship before it does happen. You know, make the impact harder.

Also you guys got a little background information on Sarah! Thought it would help you guys get to know her a little better.

On another note, what would Stiles' and Sarah's ship name be? Comment what you think!
